Angelina Jolie in Saint Laurent at the ‘Kung Fu Panda 3’ premiere: simple & chic?

wenn23368725

Here are some photos of Saturday’s big LA premiere of Kung Fu Panda 3. Angelina Jolie has done voice work for the franchise since the beginning, which I always thought was pretty cool. She must love the fact that she gets to take part in a fun cartoon that all of her kids can watch. And for this one, Knox, Shiloh, Pax and Zahara got to do some voice work too, despite the fact that they don’t want to be actors.

We haven’t seen Angelina on a red carpet in what feels like FOREVER. Honestly, though, she and Brad were working red carpets throughout the fall on behalf of By the Sea, but I guess I just put that sh-t out of my memory (the less said about it, the better). For this red carpet, Angelina wore this simple Saint Laurent sheath dress that only works on a slender woman. Speaking of slender… since I haven’t seen photos of Angelina in so long, I was startled by how thin she looks here. I’m not trying to be concern-trolly because she’s honestly been very slender for years now. But it looks like she’s lost more weight recently and I hope she’s taking care of herself. Her face is still perfect though. Is she even wearing makeup?

I’m also including some photos of two of Angelina’s costars, Lucy Liu and Kate Hudson. Kate is new to this franchise – she plays a female panda obsessed with Jack Black’s Po – while Lucy has been with the franchise since the start. Kung Fu Panda 3 also features voice acting by Black (obviously), Dustin Hoffman, Bryan Cranston and JK Simmons. Oh, and Kate Hudson brought her son Ryder as her date.

Such a stunning face and she actually looks like she has gained some weight – her face looks fuller and her veins on her arms are less noticeable. She has always had skinny legs even during her Tomb Raider days.

Jack’s children and De Niro’s grandchildren have also voiced some characters as well.

I hope Brad and Angelina attends the award show tonight – Brangelina never disappoints on the red carpet.

    • Hadleyb says:

Are we looking at the same picture? She looks horrible, she’s lost even more weight and looks terribly, terribly too thin.

      • Carmen says:

The thing is, though, if she was really anorexic her face would be gaunt and skeletal. But it isn’t. It’s as beautiful as always.

I can’t figure out what’s going on with her.

      • roses says:

Maybe its stress she’s really busy it seems and has a lot going on at the moment. It seems she’s still in the midst of directing a film in Cambodia. There was a small blurb on one of the entertainment sights saying she just flew in from Cambodia yesterday morning just to attend the Kung Fu Panda premiere. So who knows especially since we don’t see these people daily lives up close or know what their dealing with on a regular basis.

      • thyne says:

Having worked in a plastic surgeon office for years, I feel pretty confident that she’s had laser and filler treatments. Luckily AJ has great docs that don’t do too much, just enough too smooth and “round” the face.

      • xpreson says:

I’m sorry but her legs are not what they were when she played Laura Croft…

        She looks undernourished!

        http://www.film.com/photos/lethal-vixens/attachment/angelina-jolie-lara-croft-tomb-raider-lethal-vixen-ruins-2

      • LAK says:

XP Reson: TOMB RAIDER is never a good example to give vis a vis AJ’s weight because she was on a special diet and fitness programme designed to add weight and give her the sort of body that was feasible for the character she was playing.

That film was the only film she has made where she was required to add weight by the producers.

She’s never been bigger before or since.

      • Carmen says:

She bulked up for Lara Croft.

      • FLORC says:

People have incorrect memories on her weight.
She’s never put on weight on her limbs. Look back to her early teen modeling. Her arms and legs are pins while her torso and face are perfectly normal. When factoring in her wide ribcage people thought she looked bigger than she was by assuming her cup size was a C or D rather than her true size of a B.

LAK is correct also about the diet. Lara Croft was to be close to the original video game character. As close as humanly possible. And then they padded her hips and chest anyways for the movie while enhancing the posters.
When she loses weight she loses in her face. Here she looks healthy.

For undergrad I had a roommate that never gained weight in her legs. Ever. They were toned and straight even while she was unhealthy in diet. Meanwhile once you hit the top of her hips there appeared to be almost an overflow of muffin top without jeans squishing it up.

And in turn some ladies only gain in their legs while maintaining toned abs.
Jolie has always shown she gains in her torso. People forget this very often.

      • Dana m says:

Im totally guessing here that AJ may have some serious gut issues that have downward spiraled further leading to complications like Sibo/leaky gut. Due to the surgeries she’s been through recently, opioid/pain killer medications can really wreak your gut. These meds can result in gut issues like leaky gut, SIBO, achlohydria or intestinal disbyosis- or even ALL issues at the same time like me :(. When this occurs, your body is not able to digest fats and carbs appropriately in the small intestine . So weight loss & malnurishment happens along with muscle loss. I speak with first hand knowledge and experience with these issues myself. And adding large amounts of stress can aggravate and make these issues worse so if she is having problems in her marriage, etc.

Every time I see a picture of her I continue to notice how thin she is getting, I Can’t help but wonder of the possibility of her having my same gut health issues. It took 15 doctors to finally find a good ND who was able to diagnose me !

      • KB says:

@Dana which drugs specifically do this? I’m asking for a friend.

      • Dana m says:

        @KB
Prescription drugs for for pain like Vicodin, Percocet, morphine, hydrocodone, OxyContin, etc…

Also PPIs for acid reflux like Prilosec , Prevacid, dexilant, nexium, etc.

These drugs can cause gut damage.
If you/your friend need more info, pls let me know and we can connect somehow.

      • Jag says:

@Dana m and @KB – Please be very careful when taking PPIs for acid reflux, as they have been found to cause acute kidney injury, leading to acute kidney failure in some people. Make sure you have an up to date doctor who tests you regularly and knows what symptoms to look for. Good luck!

      • Dana M says:

        @Jag:
I appreciate the warning! I hadn’t heard that one yet. I never had kidney issues with a PPI. I’ve been off PPI’s for about 1 year now because it contributed to my SIBO. So there is no way I will ever take a PPI again, ever. There are other ways to fix acid reflux/GERD naturally which I successfully did, however, now I am battling sibo. Thank you!

      • Liquorice says:

I think her early menopause and the hormone therapy prob contributed to all that. Still, I’d love to invite Angie and their ADORABLE kids over to my house for a lovely meal. I wanna load Angie up with some serious fat and CARBS.

    • M.A.F. says:

      There’s an award show tonight?

    • a says:

Kate got fillers. this is bad.

    • atiaofthejulii1 says:

I think something is going on as some have commented, she’s too skinny. I hope it’s nothing serious.

    • Debbie Do says:

I love Angie but her eyes look kind of dead in these pictures, like she’s either very sad or not feeling well. There’s been some gossip because she didn’t go to the Globes with Brad. I hope everything’s okay with them.

    • krtmom says:

Way too skinny and that dress just hangs. Being too skinny as you age is not flattering!

      • Liquorice says:

I hate to criticise her like this but the comment I saw on some other board was “old lady frail.” Sorry, but it’s true. But you’re still a nice person who cares about more than your own navel, Angie.

  2. BendyWindy says:

I, too, was startled by her legs. That’s probably why she usually wears pants or long gowns. The dress is ok, nothing special. I love what both Kate and Lucy are wearing.

    • Greenieweenie says:

Yeah, I think she has granny legs. Like spindly legs even if she gains weight (which probably goes around her middle). Is that called an apple body type? I think she’s a skinny apple. MAybe a carrot.

      • M.A.F. says:

That’s not an apple or even a pear body shape.

      • FLORC says:

No but the point is made. Some people gain in certain apears while never gaining in others. They also lose from only those areas before anything else.

      • Naya says:

I dont doubt that she has an apple body type but I do question its relevance here. Is there any suggestion that she is carrying any weight in her torso right now? I know her implants are creating that impression, particularly because of the dress shape, but its mistaken. Her entire body is extremely thin, the implants are just distorting that in this dress.

    • L says:

In the last photo you can see a blonde lady behind AJ and she is starting hard at AJ’s legs. Her eyes are bulging out her face! It’s hilarious

      • Bom says:

That’s because if they look skinny in a pic, they are even skinnier in reality.

      • CynicalCeleste says:

The look on her face says: “omg, that femur is about to snap!!”

      • FLORC says:

Legs? No. Drawing a line this is obvious, but legs do make for more snark and wight shaming.

      • Melissa says:

Yes, if she looks this skinny in pictures, it’s definitely more noticeable in real life, I once saw Alexa chung in a bathroom at a concert and I could not believe how skinny she was in real life. She looked almost sickly, like a boble head.

    • Lady D says:

BendyWindy, I agree the dress is nothing special, but it has a $2600 price tag. There has to be more to it than we are seeing.

    • ISO says:

From a styling standpoint it doesn’t bring out her best features, nor does it seem seasonally on. If this t shirt sack dress is “cruise-wear” for this time of year, then strappy sandals would happen more than heavy black pumps. The sloppy ensemble makes a smart busy woman look unpolished and out of it.

  3. GoodNamesAllTaken says:

I think she looks pretty, and the first picture just isn’t a great shot. The second picture of her face is lovely.

    • Denisemich says:

She has been refreshed. I love when stars show up looking a bit younger than 5 years ago.

    • doofus says:

I think she looks quite pretty too…that second pic (the one where she’s taking a pic with the two women) is a great pic…

however, I think (as someone said) that these pics demonstrate why we usually see her in pants or longer skirts. her legs, while def having some muscle tone (you can see it in her calves) are SO SKINNY. not her best feature. I think this dress would have been better with a slightly longer skirt and more definition…like maybe a narrowed waist or a belt?

so, hair/make up gets a thumbs up and dress is a thumbs down.

  4. Savina says:

I have no issues with the dress, it’s the hair that needs some styling.

  5. V4Real says:

Some fans will say she’s always been this thin. The truth is she hasn’t. She’s a thin woman but there’s a difference between frail and thin. AJ is still a beautiful woman but my Lord this doesn’t look right.

    • Jayna says:

      I agree.

    • sills says:

Yeah, it’s become verboten to notice when people look unhealthily thin. If a friend I hadn’t seen for a while showed up looking like that, I’d ask her straight up if she’s battling an illness.

      • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

I hope you wouldn’t really do that. I have a friend who lost twenty pounds on purpose and cut her hair shorter and an acquaintance asked her if she was battling cancer. It really hurt her feelings. So maybe just say “how are you?”

      • Who ARE these people? says:

GNAT offers a more tactful approach. If you ask someone “straight up” if she is sick, then what happens?

If she says, “Yes,” then you’ve put her on the spot to offer personal information she might not be ready to share. How would you follow up “straight up?”

If she says, “No,” you wouldn’t be satisfied, would you? Would you believe her?

If she tries for polite ambiguity, then you’ve made her work for her privacy, and you might press further if you feel it’s your “right” to know. It’s not. It’s her right to stay private, whether she is naturally thin, has an eating disorder, has cancer, who knows?

None of this helps the friend, only your curiosity. A simple, “How are you?” is just fine, and if you’re closer, maybe, “I hope things are going well for you.” There are other ways to indicate support and concern.

      • vava says:

I think it depends on how close you are to the person.

My best friend, who is a soulmate of mine, has drastically lost muscle mass this past year, and although I asked ‘how are you?’, the conversation became more to the point later on. Her thighs are about as big around as Angelina’s upper arms. She has absolutely no fat on her body and is wasting away…………

      • Dana m says:

        @vava,

Has your friend mentioned food allergies or food sensitivities? I too lost muscle mass and weight loss due to really bad gut issues. I was finally diagnosed with Sibo after 3 years of it being a total mystery to many doctors. I’m on treatment now and have gained 5 pounds!

      • mayamae says:

I think the intention behind the question also plays a part. I lost a bit of weight by exercise and eating healthfully. My immediate co-workers knew about my hard work, but the rest of my small hospital weren’t aware of the cause. I had a pharmacist and secretary quietly ask after my health and weight loss. It was motivated by genuine concern and did not bother me. However, my boss chose to call me out in the midst of change of shift, and two shifts of nurses and techs were witness to what she said. I was a little embarrassed, but one of my good friends (who was present) was enraged.

I’m a private person who values my privacy, and I respect that others may feel the same way. But I won’t be part of enabling someone into their grave because I’m afraid I may hurt someone’s feelings. I have commented on a good friend’s obsession with staying thin, skipping meals to accomplish it, and the fact that she always admires the “heroin-chic” look of certain models. Disordered habits of a lifetime become so second-nature that it can be difficult to recognize in ourselves. It’s possible that no one’s ever been offended by my questions because they know I’m a nurse, and they know my intentions.

    • Joy says:

Agreed. She’s never been chubby or remotely full figured but this looks a bit different. And I pretty much never think anyone looks “too thin”. I mean, Kate Hudson looks plump in comparison and we all know she’s slender also.

      • BNA Fn says:

Joy, don’t want to say you have no right to your opinion, but for the last ten years I have been hearing the same cry, Angelina is too thin. I remember years ago, Angelina’s brother Jamie addressed the “she’s too skinny” concerns. He says Angelina forgets to eat when she is very busy, ( and she has been very busy directing a movie), that’s why sometimes she looks a little more thin than other times. Angelina has never been heavy, she even addressed this concern saying she don’t like to be thin but there is nothing she can do about it. I’m sure some of the fans remember what I have addressed? Anyway, she is a very beautiful woman inside and out that’s why her family adores her.

      • Greenieweenie says:

Well she did have a hysterectomy and she went through menopause not all that long ago. She does have health issues.

      • Hadleyb says:

I can tell you those are just excuses to hide whatever she is hiding. An ED, illness, whatever. Sounds more like an ED as I have 2 very close friends with Anorexia and the lies, excuses, whatever they say just grow over the years to hide their issues with food — even proclaiming being gluten intolerant, IBS, can’t eat meat, this makes them sick, that food makes them sick etc. They do have medical issues but its usually brought on by their ED.

Yes, you can forget to eat but she’s way too thin and generally after going through menopause women gain weight not lose it.

Again, generally. I am sure a few responders will post they lost 20 pounds after entering menopause but thats the exception not the rule.

      • Greenieweenie says:

Well, her health issues were not brought on by her eating–by anything she did or did not eat. So I don’t know how you can identify the cause of her weight loss as an ED when she has clearly had a multitude of health issues that often do cause weight loss (major surgery, medications she may be taking).

As for whether women gain/lose weight in menopause, I don’t know. Probably the majority of women gain, just like probably the majority of women struggle with weight gain in general. But I don’t. I never have, and I will likely be one of those women who doesn’t gain weight after menopause. I just find it irritating the way weight loss or a slim figure is ALWAYS connected to an eating disorder. As someone who has always felt stress/emotions in my gut, I very much empathize with women who are generally thin and generally repeatedly accused of having an eating disorder.

Not to further elevate St Angelina, but I also think that being exposed to issues such as war and starvation does generally prevent you from getting too involved in your own personal issues, if that makes sense. She’s talked about how she thinks that if she’d been exposed to the world more as a teenager, she probably wouldn’t have struggled so much with dark times and drugs and whatnot. I firmly believe this is true for many young people suffering from eating disorders–just from my experiences teaching middle school. So while I’m not saying there’s no way AJ has an eating disorder, I just don’t think that’s the most likely or even plausible explanation for her appearance.

      • Liquorice says:

Miyavi also said he couldn’t believe how thin she got during filming of Unbroken. She forgets to eat.

    • tracking says:

Agreed. It is not normal for one’s thighs to be smaller than one’s knee bones. Lucy Liu is tiny, too, but still looks healthy and strong.

      • FLORC says:

Different body types entirely. You can’t apply 1 to the other without fudging the details. Apples to oranges.

    • Jenni says:

Exactly. Her limbs look really skinny. Too skinny. When your knees are wider than your thighs you have a serious problem.

      • vava says:

Mentioned up thread, my best friend has legs like this now. They weren’t always that way… I am suspecting she (my friend) has anorexia.

    • Locke Lamora says:

Her being too thin, or too fat, or just right is her bussiness and her bussiness alone. Someone else’s looks and health is not mine to discuss.

      • CynicalCeleste says:

Not really in the right spirit for a gossip site then hmmm..

      • Locke Lamora says:

No, I have no problem talking about someone’s hair or makeup or clothes, but helathbis too far, IMO.

      • Gina says:

        @Locke Lamora

Except you clearly said looks in your first statement, which encompasses hair, makeup and clothes, and leaves very little room for gossip on a site called Celebitchy…

Sorry, but it’s a pet peeve of mine when people act like they’re above any kind of judgement, and ignore the fact that we are being asked to comment on her appearance.

      • Locke Lamora says:

Sorry, I should have said only health. And I used to comment on people’s bodies, but I realised it bothers me when people discuss health issues of people who are overweight so I should stop commenting on anyone’s body. I should have phrased it better.

    • Yana says:

She lost weight after her mom died in 2007, but she never really gained any of it back. She’s looked sickly ever since.

      • KB says:

Yeah I’m always baffled when people say “well she put some weight on but she lost it again.” I don’t recall her ever putting weight on outside of her pregnancy. But I will say that she has a very boxy frame, and I don’t know what that’s like or how I would eat if I were the same. I did have a friend who had a similar frame, thin long arms and legs (obviously not as thin as Angelina’s) and thick in the middle. It didn’t matter what she ate or how much she exercised, she never changed.

      • zut alors! says:

Angelina has looked frail and sickly ever since she got together with Pitt. Meantime, he’s sporting a beer gut. Wonder if he’ll be featured in the next tabloid headlines of unsightly beach bodies.

This is a pic of her at the Taking Lives premiere, a whole 2 years after she filmed the Tomb Raider sequel for those who claim she only got bigger for the movie. Her legs although skinny, were toned. She looked healthy and happy. Today? Not so much. She reminds me of how Whitney Houston looked when she showed up at that Michael Jackson 30th anniversary and had to be digitally enhanced for the tv broadcast.

        http://www.instyle.co.uk/celebrity/pictures/angelina-jolie-celebrity-transformation/angelina-jolie-at-the-taking-lives

      • Susan says:

Whoa zut! That before and after pic freaked me out. You re so right. She’s not healthy.

      • Jessica says:

        @zuts
Angelina has been skinny since her mother died and her recent health issues aren’t helping. And to say she looks like Whitney Houston at MJ 30th anniversary special is just disgusting.. wow.
The pic used is a terrible comparison. Yes let’s compare a pic of her now to her ten years younger, minus five children, her mother’s death, and several health issues.

    • kate says:

This. She’s always been thin, and yeah she has long, skinny limbs. But up until about a decade ago she was carrying an extra 20lbs that made all the difference. Even in Gia, where she was playing a drug addicted supermodel, she was heavier than she is now.

She’s said she doesn’t eat properly, her brother has said she doesn’t eat properly, her cast-mates have said she doesn’t eat properly. She’s not ‘naturally’ this thin, she admittedly under-eats. Lot’s of people forget to eat or are busy, but if you don’t have issues with food that’s an easy thing to correct when you notice the effect it’s having (especially when you can just get your assistant to bring you food). She’s been this thin, sometimes thinner, for almost a decade excepting her pregnancies. She obviously prefers being this thin, because if she didn’t the solution is right there; start eating normally and stop skipping meals.

      • FLORC says:

She wasn’t that much heavier and there’s a huge difference of aging from then to now with several major health issues. It takes a toll.
Factor in how people assumed she had a C or D cup in that movie vs her natural Bs her true weight was not accurately figured by viewers. They often assumed she was bigger than she was. Another example. Tomb Raider. Where her suit and posters were padded and enhanced to look bustier like the Croft character.

      • jules says:

Especially since she is now menopausal, she should take extra care with her meals to minimize the bone loss. As for her weight, my understanding is that if anything, women are more inclined to GAIN weight after menopause and I see testimony to that around me everyday.

      • Liquorice says:

I think she’s self-conscious about her face and stays underweight to look more contoured. When she’s of “normal” weight, her face looks pleasantly plumpish (see her BB Thornton days).

    • Jib says:

I am NOT boDy shaming but I would bet a mortgage payment that AJ has some kind of eating disorder. Her arms and legs look like they belong on a ten year old, not an adult woman. And this is in pictures, which puts on weight. She has something bad going on. For her kids’ sake, I hope she deals with it.

      • Liquorice says:

I agree with you and esp about the body shaming. I feel terrible that a woman turns up to something and all we talk about is her weight. But sorry, it’s quite obvious.

  6. Arlene says:

Lucy Liu has to have some kind of Dorian Grey picture in the attic. She looks fantastic.

    • Maya says:

I thinks it has to do with her genes – Asian women look way younger than they are.

      • FLORC says:

Right up to their 50’s or 60’s. Then there’s a major aging. My asian girl friends joke about this often, but admit this is a very likely and common outcome.

      • Ennie says:

There is a very funny meme. About Asian women and aging around, you should check it!

      • KB says:

Genetics definitely plays a role. Elizabeth Banks was born the same year as Angelina!

    • Jayna says:

Every time I read her age, 47, I’m stunned. She looks much younger.

      • als says:

Grace Park of Hawaii 5.0 is 40 or 41 I think and I swear she could pass for 20. Asian genes are the bomb.

      • lucy2 says:

Grace does look much younger too. They are both beautiful women who are aging spectacularly.

    • Sasha says:

      Lucy looks amazing!!

    • Tulip Garden says:

I agree! She looks beautiful, healthy, and happy. Strange that Hudson or Jolie-Pitt would usually (if not here particularly) get the “sexy” headlines when , truly, Lucy surpasses them both with class.

      • Kat says:

You’re spot on! Lucy Liu has been my constant girl-crush, and despite being the oldest woman at the premier, she’s easily the most youthful and radiant looking, * sigh *.

    • Tulip Garden says:

      Double post

  7. Granger says:

Is it just me, or does Kate Hudson’s face look… fuller, somehow?

I can’t decide if I think Jolie looks thinner than usual. She never wears anything that shows off her legs, so yes, they look like sticks, but then again, they probably always have.

  8. Katie says:

I think everyone looks pretty here!

  9. vauvert says:

I love Angie and I usually defend her thinness, but this really looks unhealthy. I hope I am wrong. I want her to be healthy and continue her charity work and be there for her kids for a long time. The dress is very simple and would be a boring sack on someone else, but she can wear anything and her face is still stunning. You don’t care about the dress.

I usually say nothing about celeb kids, but wow is Ryder a good looking boy. Looks a lot like his mom. Lucy is gorgeous.

  10. Jayna says:

She looks beautiful in the face. Not so much the rest of her. Painfully thin. It’s hard to look at. She’s always had thin legs, but not like this. A few extra pounds would help, or wear a longer dress.

Angelina at the Salt premiere in a mini.

  11. BadAssCompass says:

Boobs-legs ratio is just creepy, but her arms seem fuller and her face is as always gorgeous. Nice to see her show up on there RCs.
What’s going on with Kate H. face? :O

  12. HeyThere! says:

It’s not even that she looks thin. She looks exhausted and unhealthy. I hope she’s okay.

    • Jane says:

I have to agree with you. I don’t think she is taking care of herself. Something seems “off” here.

      • Who ARE these people? says:

She has very good doctors and surely they are monitoring her health status. She has been so level-headed about her health and taken their advice.

She was plunged into early menopause due to the removal of her ovaries. Even with hormone replacement, it’s a shock to the system. A lot of us ladies would rather hide at home during this time, but she has to appear in public.

      • Petee says:

I love her so there is no shaming here on my part but she doesn’t look healthy. She seem’s very thin and frail.I went through menopause and have never looked better in my life or felt better.I am just a little worried about her right now.

      • Jane says:

@Petee…interesting that you say that. I am not criticizing you in any way shape or form, but I am going through menopause and I look like death warmed over. I’m glad that you are having a good experience after menopause. HONESTLY!!! 🙂

Even though I am careful about my health, I look absolutely terrible and feel like absolute cr** literally all the time with my menopausal symptoms. My mother and grandmother went through the very same thing and they were beyond miserable themselves. My sister went through it and gained a TON of weight .

I’m just wondering if Angie is going through anything similar to me. Some people are very fortunate with their menopause and other are the complete opposite. I would give anything to be one of the fortunate ones.

      • Who ARE these people? says:

The thing with her menopause is it’s surgical, abrupt. For most women it’s gradual, which allows time for the system to adjust. For women with more fat, it will be especially gradual because the fat holds estrogen. But for women who are more naturally lean, the estrogen loss will show more quickly.

  13. Ennie says:

Her arms look good, her thighs look thinner, but it might be a combination of factor. Overall, she looks fine. Do I wish she had a bit more weight on?
Yes, but I bet she is doing what it is best for her, she has shown that she cares for her family and does a lot of things to be with them.

  14. Monica says:

We go through this with every Angelina post for how many years, same comments, same fake concerns…next

    • CynicalCeleste says:

I think the fake concern stems from the fact that normal, nice, kind people who visit gossip sites for entertainment feel a bit guilty making critical or negative comments, particularly in regard to shallow matters such as weight, hair, wardrobe, etc. Especially so if they happen to like the subject in question, such as st. angie. They feel compelled to soften what they are really thinking with an empathetic and not fully un-genuine note of concern.
I say “they” and not “we”, because I have no qualms in saying:

      HOLY KNOBBY KNEES!!!*

      *Hope she’s ok.

  15. Nancy says:

Lucy is so cute, ageless. Could care less about Kate Hudson. Angie looks like a lollipop…which is scary with her families health issues. This isn’t a natural thin, it looks bad. Hope she’s okay, for her sake and that of her children.

  16. GoodNamesAllTaken says:

Maybe it’s just me, but I think people are overreacting to her weight. She’s getting older, and when you’re older and very thin, it looks different than when you’re younger and very thin. She has small bones and that gives her a fragile appearance. I don’t think there’s anything evil going on. She’s just thin.

    • V4Real says:

I don’t think this is the case with Angie though. Even some media outlets who probably known AJ a bit better than us have said her weight is off. I don’t think it has anything to do with her turning 40. There are thin women older than her and they look fine.

    • Nancy says:

I don’t know GNAT. She’s only about forty and shouldn’t have done the morph into an older thin woman thing yet. Her shins protrude from her legs which appear to have the same size as her thighs which doesn’t appear normal. She did have a hysterectomy and other surgeries that may have messed with her hormones and weight. Yes, she’s always been thin but was known for her killer body. I hope you’re right though, we don’t need anymore sick people in the headlines. Must be a bitch to have to be analyzed by the public, but she isn’t trying to hide anything or she would wear sleeves and long dresses. Fingers crossed.

      • Who ARE these people? says:

Her ovaries were removed, not sure about her uterus (hysterectomy) due to the high risk of ovarian cancer. Menopause can change women’s appearance dramatically, especially those that are already on the thin side. She’s biologically “older” in some ways now.

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

I didn’t mean to sound like I know for sure. Could be wrong of course. I hope she’s ok.

    • BNA Fn says:

People have been saying the same thing for the past 8-10 years about her weight. Don’t believe me, go back years and read posts with Angelina on the red carpet. “she is so thin, something is wrong with her, I wish she would eat a sandwich, I hope she is ok, I think she is sick”, the same bs for ten years. It’s strange, the people who are most concerned about her weight are the people who are not fans. The fans know Angeliena is naturally thin with skinny legs and arms and a beauty to everyone that has ever met her in person. Nothing new here, same ole, same ole, different day.

      • Nancy says:

Nope. It’s unusual but not uncommon in Hollywood for women to be rail thin yet have a rounded face, butt and breasts, through injections or implants. Check out Kris Jenner’s full high cheeks that didn’t exist until the (popularity) began. It is a rarity to be skinny and busty. I think the concern for Angie is her health, since she’s had so many problems. If people were to rag on her, they have much better reasons than to call her skinny. It’s not always about hate, the pictures brought concern even from her most die hard fans. That’s it…..

      • Avery65 says:

All you need to do is go back and look at photos of her. The concern for her weight began after her mom died. She was thin before, but she started to look alarming at that point. Someone posted photos above from the premiere of the assassination of Jesse James. She looks the same in those photos as she does now: thighs thinner than normal, hair very lackluster and thin, etc. Over the years, she really did gain it back a couple times, probably coinciding with her pregnancies, and just after, etc. but she always loses it again. I DO feel for her with her early onset menopause. that’s going to be a bitch and it’s going to age her like crazy overnight. I’m scared of it and I’m in my thirties. Add to all this the level of stress her lifestyle is going to impose on her constantly (I don’t believe celebrities are stressed over their kids. They literally have someone to take care of every child’s needs. They aren’t doing the cooking, the cleaning or the laundry) in terms of work schedule and appearances, etc, and she’s going to start looking a lot worse. She’s a woman in hollywood, fed the bullshit for years about how being skinny is the only way to be valuable. Now is the time for her to start eating more than she’s ever eaten before, or it’s going to take it’s toll.
Here’s an example of how she looked healthy. I think this was circa 2009/2010. Still thin, but with enough muscle tone to look normal:
        http://static.celebuzz.com/uploads/2008/11/17/msg-122694651122.jpg
And I know some of you will kill me, but I think she got her eyes done. She has the deer-in-headlights look in most of these photos. However, menopause can mess with your thyroid and make your eyes bulge, so what do I know. *shrugs*

    • fiona says:

You shouldn’t look this bad at her age when you’re that thin. God, people talking about “older women” being thin when they’re in their mid 30s and 40s. I though that mainly applied to women in their 50’s & 60’s. Angie isn’t old & she is looking ill 🙁 She shouldn’t be that skinny.

    • KB says:

But she was what, 33 when this started?

  17. GiGi says:

Listen, I don’t know AJ, and I don’t know what’s going on with her weight… but the camera really does add pounds, and, judging by the looks on the press’ face in that last image, she’s probably very, very thin right now.

Even in that pic from the Salt premier, she was thin (like Brandi Glanville thin) but… I don’t know… this is extremely thin. My sister is built like this – very low muscle tone and thin limbs, but I would be shocked and disturbed if my sister showed up and her thighs were smaller than her knees…

    • Cindy says:

I agree. Something is really wrong here. I suspect an eating disorder and when I look at this picture it makes me feel scared for her. It doesn’t seem fair, as she is such a tireless champion of so many good causes. For years and years she has done this kind of work, and it is so sh*tty that something so serious may be going on. Why not, oh I don’t know, Bill Cosby. But no, he will probably live to 105 (hopefully in prison). I think she is so well loved by so many that there is sort of this collective denial because we don’t want anything to happen to her. I sure as hell don’t. God this is sad. 🙁

    • Lady D says:

“the camera really does add pounds,”
Can you prove that? I don’t mean you personally, GiGi, I mean anyone. An actress in the 40’s said the camera adds 10 pounds, and people have run with it ever since. I’m skin and bones, literally. Little bumps running down my shins and up my backbone. Shoulder blades that stick out further than my non-existent chest, wrists that are 4 inches around. I’m skinny, and that is exactly what I look like in pictures. Trust, there is no extra 10 pounds on me in pictures. I wish there was, but no.

      • KB says:

The camera adding ten pounds is not how you see yourself but how others see you. It’s quite possible that you look thinner to people in person than you do in photos. Particularly if it’s someone you’ve seen in photos but never met. People are always talking about how much smaller celebrities look in person, someone said it about Alexa Chung up thread, but she could think she looks the same in photos too.

      • Mytbean says:

It can and often does add lbs. It has to do with the flash. The flash takes away the shaded edges of curves as they receed to the background. It’s a real thing… Although the intensity of the effect varies a lot based on a lot of factors.

  18. Mojoman says:

I am Asian so I may be biased but Good Lord, Lucy Liu is the GODDESS! She never ages, and gorgeous as always.

  19. DiamondGirl says:

How could people forget “the leg” from the Oscars just a couple of years ago? She looked great then – this is not the same.

  20. Louise177 says:

I agree with others that the fake concern is really old, at least 10 years old. Angelina has always been thin, especially her limbs. It’s weird that people are acting like this is new. I wish people could just get a new insult instead of whining how thin she is.

    • Nancy says:

I don’t think we are insulting her as much as concerned for her health. Big difference.

    • KB says:

It’s not an insult! I love Angelina Jolie, but I can see that her legs are not what they were before. Some people think denying it all is proof you’re a better fan or something. It’s not.

  21. Catelina says:

She has good hair, andi love the color it is right now, but I do wish she would actually style it a little for red carpet events. Doesn’t have to be some crazy up do, especially for day time animated movie premieres of course, but even just some simple waves done with a curling iron would be pretty. Even for the by the sea fancy premiere, her hair looked exactly the same as it does here. It’s a pet peeve of mine when celebrities dress themselves up all nicely and ignore their hair.

  22. someone says:

she should never wear short skirts or dresses, it just shows how horribly thin she is…

  23. AntiSocialButterfly says:

All I have to say is, that for many (myself included), there comes an age when you should stop wearing skirts/dresses above the knee unless you are wearing some opaque tights. Our knees don’t usually age well!!

  24. Tiffany says:

I know it in not genetic possible, but Ryder looks a bit like Kurt. You see Chris as well, but he kind of looks like his Grandfather.

  25. AlmondJoy says:

Unpopular opinion: I always hate her styling. She is always and forever dressed as boring a possible. The last time she wore something interesting was the dress with “the leg.” BUT she never looks bad.

    Lucy Liu looks ahmaaazing 😍

  26. A.Key says:

She’s beautiful but way, way too thin. She actually doesn’t have the legs for this type of dress, which is not something I thought I’d ever say of any celebrity…

  27. Franny says:

I think she has the same thin legs, it just looks thinner cause she is wearing a 7-inch heels. Hence, she looks a lot taller, too. And her loose dress makes her body look slender, too, as in shapeless.

Btw, kate hudson looks fat in the face and her belly, is she pregnant again?

  28. Courtney says:

I just have to point out that in the last photo the lady in the background is even looking at Angie’s legs and looks a bit startled!

  29. Jayna says:

Ryder looks so much like his grandmother, Goldie Hawn.

  30. Monica says:

Go through every single AG thread on this site for the past 8 or so years and the comments are All the same. She’s so skinny I hope she’s okay. Same ole same ole. People who have seen her up close says she looks great. Read all the Instagram posts from people who have actually seen her. Anyway you all have been itching for an AJ post so you can bash her. She doesn’t need your fake concern

    • iheartgossip says:

Well. In defense of everyone and their ‘fake concern’; she hasn’t been very healthy over the past few years. By her own admission. I have zero fake concern, mine is real. Enjoy your Sunday.

    • Avery65 says:

🙂 she wore a very similar dress to a different kung fu panda premiere a few years ago. she HAS looked better with more weight on her. it’s not that people are trying to be mean (well, maybe some), it’s that we all have this thing called the magical gift of sight.
      http://static.celebuzz.com/uploads/2008/11/17/msg-122694651122.jpg

  31. Murphy says:

aw Ryder looks so happy and handsome!

  32. Cupcake says:

Although only thin women can get away with a sheath dress I still think anyone can do better than a sheath dress!

  33. knower says:

Not gonna lie, she looks emaciated.
I’m looking at her knees, width above and below them.

  34. What's inside says:

Look, we all know that Brad likes his women stick thin. Now with her hormonal issues since the surgery my guess is this is the result. She also looks tired around the eyes. Hair changes with hormones as does weight.

  35. KBeth says:

AJ does look really boney, oddly I don’t think her face looks gaunt. I like what she is wearing, simple & unfussy.
Lucy Liu looks fantastic, love her shoes.
Not loving Kates look, her son is a cute kid.

  36. WhateverMang says:

Jolie’s face doesn’t look gaunt because she’s having treatments done to it. If you look at raw images it looks like she’s getting fillers albeit very slight so she doesn’t look as horrid as Kate Hudson.

    • alexc says:

My cosmetic derm, who does fillers all day, says she’s definitely doing fillers. She knows it when she sees it. Also, there is no way you lose as much weight as AJ has and your face stays full.

  37. Redd says:

She looks bad, here. Her muscles are very lean, naturally. It makes her look kind of stringy. It’s the kind ballet dancers covet. She could work out and eat more and she’ll never have very prominent, puffy muscles. From that starting point and then being in menopause can cause loss of muscle mass, any time she loses a few pounds it looks pretty scary. Have no idea what’s going on with her but she should probably wear minis when she’s a little less thin.

I think she looked best in Gia, she looked fit and healthy.

    • maggie says:

Coming from a ballet dancers perspective no they don’t covet her legs. One performance is equal to running a marathon. Those pins wouldn’t get her far.

  38. Ennie says:

A woman From my neighborhood married a distant cousin of mine. After her first pregnancy, she got terribly skinny. They did not comment on it, but I live in a smaller town and we used to know everyone, you know, nosy, gossipy people.
I was worried about her (she is a nice person) and saw her a few times looking so very thin, that it was shocking. I made the terrible mistake of asking her, and her husband retorted angrily that she had medical issues. It turned out she developed thyroid problems. She still got pregnant twice after that, probably after they stabilized her hormone levels.
She never got back to what she looked back before. Even after 3 children she is very slim. She also has a bigger head, so it is more noticeable.
I am still ashamed of that faux pax. It was none of my business to ask, that had no obligation to tell anyone either, and he probably got angry because probably other tactless people like me had asked them the same and he was very defensive.
Overall,AJ most surely knows what she is doing and what it means for her family. Period.

  39. elizabeth says:

Her face looks beautiful. I never thought I would be defending Giselle, but she got a lot of flak for her diet last week and I have to say she looks healthy.

  40. Colette says:

Water is wet.Angelina is skinny. If she is skinny because of health reasons that’s her business.

  41. kri says:

I hope AJ is well, and not having any sort of health issue.

  42. Minxx says:

I am surprised she’s wearing a dress showing her knees. I’m not trying to be mean and I know she probably doesn’t care too much but she’d look so much better in COLOR and in a fuller and longer skirt.

  43. Zaytabogota says:

The breast implants are far too big on her frail frame, they look cartoonish. Her face looks good, she’s had a lot of work done on it recently, just like her husband with his new face.

    • Mollie says:

I wish she had chosen a size or two smaller implant. I am not bashing her, I just personally think a bit smaller would complement her slender frame a bit more.

  44. mello says:

    Heartbreaking in every way.

  45. A Fan says:

We don’t often see Angelina’s legs above mid-calf.

    [*Maybe this is why.*]

  46. Jon Bond Jovial says:

Is it just me or does Kate Hudson’s son look like Jon Bon Jovi?

  47. iheartgossip says:

Kate. Kate. Kate. What have you done to your face?? Yikes. And, is Angie not well? I’m actually very worried about her.

  48. Nene says:

Angelina Jolie has always been on the thin side and her lollipop body shape makes her look even thinner than she is.
My childhood bff has this body shape which is a variation of the apple shape. Lollipops have long skinny limbs, broad shoulder, full face, busty in relation to their body frame, short torso and easily gain weight in their belly and chest. My bff was very skinny for most of her life and i remember i used to be jealous of her body in our teens cos i was the opposite- pearshaped. Now we are in our 20s she’s just slim but still has skinny legs though not as skinny as before.
Not her apologist or anything but I think Angelina’s health issue, work related stress, aging, early menopause and being a mum of 6 albeit a superstar one who has helps has taken a toll on her body over the past couple of years.

  49. Nene says:

    Lucy looks fantastic.
Kate looks to have had fillers, her face looks strangely fuller.

  50. danielle says:

    Her face is so gorgeous!

    • Sillyme says:

It used to be stunning, but now she just looks tired and sick. She’d benefit from some makeup and better hair.

      • Aubrey says:

I have always thought she lookd tired ever since the the twins. I wonder how she manages those long flights becuase she said she is not the kind of person who likes to sit still.

  51. shannon says:

She looks lovely, she does look incredibly thin. But I’m guessing, like me, she’s a “stress NON-eater.” When I’m busy or stressed out, I will forget to eat, and I’m small-boned, and it has caused concern with friends and family members thinking I’m anorexic or bulimic or something is wrong health-wise, but there’s not. I’m just not eating a lot, but I’m eating healthy foods and enough to keep my energy up. She’s braver than I am, I always hide my skinny legs lol.

  52. mp says:

Hmmm…Most of us fall within the range of BMI 18 to BMI 50, with very few at either ends of the curve naturally. The cutoff for death is below BMI 14 or 15, and BMI below 17.5 is anorexia. not making this up, insurance companies invented the concept of BMI because they wanted to see if there was a correlation between body size and death. And surprise, there is, with those BMI below 17.5 at the highest risk for death.

Jolie is clearly below the BMI of 17.5.

I am not shaming her, because EDs are neural conditions, like Parkinson’s or Alzheimer’s. You have to have the genes and the environment to develop them and it is not her fault. Avoiding food because one is too busy to eat or too tired to eat – that is an ED. It’s the misidentification of food as a threat (i.e. it is too much stress to find food, or it makes you fat, or it gives you heart disease, diabetes, cancer, causes inflammation or some trumped up reason). People without EDs feel miserable without food and people with EDs actually feel better, calmer, and clearer-headed when they do not eat or even just when they diet (initially). So I can understand her skipping meals and stuff.

It is theorized that eating disorders persist because in times of famine or war, there was value to someone who could think clearly with little to no food. When food was finally found, the person would eat with the rest of the tribe, because they were of such value in case of another food shortage (work of Guisinger). Interesting, huh?

Anyway, I wish her the best and that she gets help.

    • mayamae says:

Thank you for saying this. I’m sure this isn’t their intention, but when posters so vociferously deny she has an ED and bend over backwards posting links to “prove” she weighs exactly the same as last time, it gives the impression that EDs are something to be ashamed of. It’s not a moral failure, a sign of bad character, or sign of weakness. Women with EDs get pregnant, have children, play with and lift/carry their children, smile, laugh, work, run companies, fly to foreign countries, engage in charities, etc. And citing these behaviors in no way disproves an ED.

I’ve never had an ED, but I had (and still have) disordered eating. For years I’m best able to function at work by skipping the half-hour meal time. I’m a nurse and always on my feet, and by skipping meals at work I stay sharply focused and on point. The rare times I actually ate, I would have an energy crash and find it difficult to get back on track. I never associated it with ED behavior, so thank you for that information.

    • MSun says:

Thank you for that. That is spot on.
I suffered from an Ed for years (thankfully it’s way in the past now), and you basically just said what I was thinking.
I think it’s important to also remember that eating disorders come in many forms and you can look perfectly healthy and still be very ill.
I personally believe that AJ is not healthy, but really that’s just my belief, and I also believe that a lot of the healthy looking actresses have issues as well.

    • Crumpet says:

Wonderful post, thank you. Angelina is a lovely woman who has done so much for so many people. I wish her nothing but the best. But she clearly IS severely malnourished.

  53. Marie says:

Some People in here don’t seem to realise that this poor woman has real and serious health issues. Just educate yourself and figure out what it takes to have undergone mastectomy and had your ovaries taken off and all the consequences that that trigger on your body and appearance. I guess the only thing that matters to Angelina Jolie is to be able to share that moment with her children, no matter how you will judge her on how her knees/tights or whatever limbs look like.

    • Don't kill me I'm French says:

She never had the cancer. She has not the cancer.
She is anorexic and it is a serious sickness

      • Jessica says:

I think you misread her comment. She said Angelina has undergone a mastectomy and taken out her ovaries and she has. She didn’t say she’s had cancer.

    • L says:

I have two friends who went through EXACTLY what she did, and neither of them lost weight dramatically OR thought of their situation as a serious health issue. People who elect to have their breasts and ovaries removed because of the BRAC gene do so ELECTIVELY. Elective surgery. So most often, these women are doing the surgery to prevent serious health problems like ovarian or breast cancer. But they go into it in good health and come out of it in good health.

I myself had a hysterectomy and one ovary removed in November and after the initial recovery, I’m 100% back to normal. I can do everything I did before. So I don’t buy your argument.

      • Jaded says:

Me too – had a complete hysterectomy, ovaries and fallopian tubes out following 3 previous surgeries to remove ovarian cysts and fibroids. I never looked like that….

  54. raincoaster says:

The dress is lovely, the shoes are lovely, but this looks like some bizarre miniskirt-Amish look. It’s too severe, too undecorated, and WAYYYY too bony. Boots would have helped. Jewelry would have helped. Something other than “black silk hospital gown and CFMPs.”

  55. My Two Cents says:

I think she is one of those people that just get so consumed in what they are doing, she just simply doesn’t take time out to eat regularly. Then she appears to be active with her children when home so she burns calories. She looks gorgeous and always so graceful, but her face close up looks tired and drained to me, while still looking beautiful.

  56. DEEVIA says:

Hi Ange-KNEE-na JAW-Lie! Nice and rare to see someone so vibrant and full of face just the same as when she was 20 lbs heavier.

  57. nicegirl says:

I was thinking it looked like a bad photoshop job, but what do I know

  58. tmc says:

she definitely has make-up on. make-up artist was probably going for more natural look. actually, I just looked again. that is full-on make-up.

dont love the short dress look tho.

  59. Cirque28 says:

Kate Hudson is too pretty for those fillers. Her face looks like it’s trying to escape from her head now.

  60. Jessica says:

Angelina donates $1 million to charity and there is barely 20 comments but threw in an Angelina is too skinny story it gets nearly 200 comments. Smh. I would really hate being a celebrity. Thank god, I’m not. I think she would look better with more weight but I’ll cut her some slack. Her body has been through a lot in the past two years. I’m sure it has had an impact on her mind and body.

  61. Liz says:

Angie looks emaciated. Her facial cosmetic enhancements are becoming more obvious. She uses fillers and botox to look less gaunt and tired. In the second photo ftom the top you can see some of the work.

  62. TWstudio says:

Having a similar body type, if I gain it goes straight to an already full face. It’s frustrating to keep that fine line where your body and face are good at the same time. Having said that, this looks like a bit of atrophy going on with her legs. Her face and arms look good here, IMO. The dress seems boxy and the hemline is wrong for her.

  63. Amelie says:

She is VERY thin. Some people are naturally this thin though. My sister is probably this thin as well. She always has been but she got even skinnnier when she went gluten free (she has Celiac’s so eating gluten is not an option).

The only time I looked this thin was when I was depressed and forgetting to eat. I still am thin but luckily not this thin anymore. Hopefully Angelina is okay and remembering to eat…

  64. jessoutwest says:

It’s not that her limbs are so thin, her pallor seems unhealthy. It could be exhaustion, but then again, exhausting yourself isn’t healthy either and not the best way to mother 6 children.

  65. LolaB says:

Am I the only one who noticed the Kabbalah bracelet? Is that what that is?

    • Ennie says:

The Hindu also wear red bracelets, or kalavas, if I am not mistaken. Maybe they are blessings or something like that

  66. negave says:

She looks beautiful! Yes, she is wearing makeup. You can’t see it? Her dress is simple, but it’s not chic.
    Lucy looks good.

  67. Pmnichols says:

I think she looks pretty. Her face is stunning. She’s always been thin.

  68. Jayna says:

This was one of my favorite looks on Angie back in 2003. She looks healthy and more vibrant and, as always, beautiful.

    • Donna says:

I don’t want to pick on you and I see what you are saying, but that was years and years ago. She’s had health problems and is much older. It’s not really a great comparison.

  69. Smurphy says:

OT and I’m sure you’ll cover it tomorrow, but Alicia Vikander looked gorgeous at the Critic’s Choice Awards!

  70. lucy2 says:

    Lucy looks AMAZING.
    Kate’s face looks…puffy. Oddly puffy.
Short skirts are not Angelina’s friend.

  71. Holly says:

There are pictures at x17 that look so much worse and are not retouched.
I’m sorry but in my opinion she needs some medical help and a real friend who would tell her the truth and say pick another outfit.

  72. Petra says:

It’s sad that she has no female friends to tell her she can no longer wear skirts above the knee. Her legs look like a 70 year olds. She is not doing her career in Hollywood any favours as these pictures will just encourage the thinking of men in the industry that she is past it.

  73. Jag says:

Angelina’s face looks amazing, and the dress is cute. I don’t think she looks as good as she could have, considering how skinny her legs are. As you said, I hope she’s okay because she looks skinnier than usual to me.

Kate’s face looks awful. The dress is okay.

    Lucy looks great!

  74. maggie says:

    Yikes!

  75. friday says:

This is one of the problems of plastic surgery.
In the past, if a person was undernourished, then it was obvious in her face (and chest). As a response to this, people would often gain some weight. Now women can starve themselves, then fill their faces, and get breast implants. It’s so sad and unhealthy, both for the women doing it and those of us subjected to the new ideals.

  76. Velvet Elvis says:

Good lord, her legs are scary skinny. You can see every single knob in her knees. She’s a tall, naturally thin person but this is beyond that. Something is going on with her, either an eating disorder or an illness. I don’t buy that she’s too busy to eat. Angelina hasn’t looked truly healthy in a long time.

  77. Jeanette says:

Another sack dress ugh…The arguably most beautfiul woman in the world..and she is either wearing a grandma dress or a sack.. Her stylist needed firing ages ago. She is flawless from head to neck..but scary skinny and in a sack below.

  78. AntiBeiber says:

It’s not a concern to anyone that there is no muscle or definition on this woman? I’m sorry, but she looks unhealthy, her skin is pasty and there is no glow of health about her. She doesn’t look healthy.
