Allison Williams got bangs from Aniston’s hairdresser: pretty or fug?

It's 3:20 am and @mrchrismcmillan just banged me ‼️ 💇🏼✂️ #PastMyBedtime

Girls star Allison Williams debuted a new hairdo after a late night session with celebrity hairdresser Chris McMillan. The 27-year-old actress kept her locks long but did what many of us have impulsively done when we “wanted a change” and got bangs. She posted the results of her meeting with the stylist to the stars (his other clients include Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox and Miley Cyrus) on her Instagram page with the caption, “It’s 3:20 am and @mrchrismcmillan just banged me ‼️ #PastMyBedtime.”

She later posted a photo with Chris, who got his inspiration fot Allison’s new look from Jane Birkin, the English actress and singer who not only was the muse to legendary French singer Serge Gainsbourg but also served as the inspiration for the coveted Hermès Birkin bag. The caption for the picture reads, “Step 1: cut bangs on nervous girl who wants them for a character she’s about to play. Step 2: take 1000 mediocre selfies and 1 or 2 good ones; Step 3: assess selfie mediocrity (pictured here). @mrchrismcmillan.” Oh, it’s for a role. That’s good, I guess.

Allison also used her Instagram account to diffuse the rumor that her husband, College Humor co-founder Ricky Van Veen, proposed to her during an episode of The Bachelor. She posted a screenshot of Ricky’s tweet, which read, “Didn’t propose at a Bachelor viewing. Just us at a house where we used to watch. Love the show, but not *that* much.” Allison added the caption “Ha, yes. What he said. We care way too much about The Bach to disrupt the show by getting engaged during it. #AsIf” I don’t know what I think about a guy who watches The Bachelor. I’m sure Ricky’s a great guy, but ugh. My ex-husband and I used to watch Rock of Love religiously, but I don’t think that’s the same thing.

As for the new haircut, girl, no. Sure, bangs are cute for a while, but once you get sick of them, you’re screwed for months while waiting for them to grow out. Trust me, I’m going through “bang regret” right now. I’m a big advocate of the clip-on bangs to change up your look without making a commitment. If only one of her friends showed her this video before she headed to the stylist. But, like they always say, they’ll grow back…and at least it’s better than the hairdo she sported in Peter Pan.

Looks better in the second pic. Some layers would have been nice too

  2. Sara says:

Do not understand why this person is a thing.

  3. Senaber says:

Girl should’ve just gone to bed.

  4. GlimmerBunny says:

She’s SO goregeous, both with and without bangs.

  5. embertine says:

No, for some of us bangs have to be a permanent choice because we have giant foreheads.

    • Malificent says:

Thank you! I’ve tried growing out my bangs twice. Once as a teenager and again in my 30s. It looked terrible because I have the monster forehead that ate Tokyo.

      • MsGoblin says:

I, too, have a parking lot for a forehead.

      • Lucky says:

Me too, I have a giant Irish five head. I will never not have bangs

      • embertine says:

I mean, gotta have somewhere to keep all those brains, amirite? *cries into her cornflakes*

      • Kitten says:

        My people!

I have a really high forehead and no bangs, but I do a center part or ever-so-slightly-off-center part and that seems to hide enough of my forehead.

Isn’t it sad that we can never wear our hair pulled all the way back? I mean, I pull it back but I have to have whispies or pieces to cover some of my football field-sized forehead.

My co-worker has bangs to hide her lack of eyebrows. They look great on her though.

      • Greenieweenie says:

I have a round forehead if that makes sense. Used to be so self conscious of my profile and wore a fringe for like 12 years straight. Then I just got over it and now I wear my hair pulled back off my forehead all the time! Let your freak flags proudly fly, ladies!

    • Erinn says:

I’ve never NOT had bangs. I’m almost 26 years old… and the closest to no bands I’ve been, is really grown out, but side sweeping ones.

Between a high forehead, and acne in my teens, I’ve always just liked my bangs. I rarely even clip them back out of my face.

    • SJO says:

Word. I get really tired of the bangs hate because if I don’t cover my forehead I look like an alien. Still think its a strange thing to hate. I will say that this girl doesn’t need them.

    • Esmom says:

I would love bangs — especially now when I desperately need a hairstyle change — but unless you have super straight hair I don’t think they work. The grass is always greener, isn’t it?

    • amilu says:

Or the opposite — I have a really short forehead AND a widow’s peak, and bangs help me. It’s always irked me how anti-bangs this site is. I’ve literally had bangs my entire life, and that’s OK!

    • Potato says:

And so the Alison Williams thread turns into the bangs-apology and high-forehead-confessions thread

  6. Nikki says:

Don’t think her bangs are an improvement.

  7. GiGi says:

She has a lovely face but for some reason her makeup always looks very harsh – why is that?

    • Little Darling says:

Gigi I was thinking this exact thing!! She’s so so lovely, but something about her face is very masculine? Her jawline? I can’t figure it out. I mean I was looking at the photos thinking she is a knockout, but there is something very harsh- as in the opposite of soft- in her face. Not harsh like faces that party.

    • AntiSocialButterfly says:

She ascribes to the “Duchess Kate School-o-Beauty”.

  8. Bishg says:

Some girls look great with bangs (e.g. Rashida Jones, Zooey Deschanel, Nicole Richie).
Alison, not so much. I think this McMililan guy (isn’t he the dog trainer??) could have been a little bit more daring and go for messier, irregular bangs with with longer locks on the side.

  9. Esther says:

Woaw, for a ROLE? she is going all method.

  10. Luxe says:

I don’t think they look that bad. Not a great look for her, but not wear-a-hat-for-months bad either. She’s gorgeous but I don’t really get her appeal and I wonder if she’ll still be a thing after Girls.

  11. ell says:

no matter how pretty you are, most women don’t look good with a fringe because it takes a certain face shape to pull it off. she looks terrible.

  12. GoodNamesAllTaken says:

    Um, no. 😁

  13. Chinoiserie says:

She looks younger with bangs, and she has a long face so they do not make her face look strange. So I think this looks good.

  14. Dee squared says:

    Fug.

  15. Barrett says:

Bangs are not a better look w her face shape.

Still even at her worst she’s very pretty

  16. Lucy2 says:

The bangs are a bit wispy, but the second photo looks better. She’s very pretty.

  17. Christin says:

What is with the middle of the night haircut? She could have done that herself.

No wonder these celebrity stylists likely charge so much.

  18. LolaB says:

Omg, “Rock of Love” was the best. I really miss all the fake hair and fake boobs.

  19. kri says:

Awful. This must have been the only idea she came up with -sacrifice your hair for some headlnes.

  20. kels says:

No opinion on the bangs, but I’m sure she appreciates the (much-needed?) publicity. Seems the thirsty type…

  21. frivolity says:

Bangs or no bangs, I just can’t get over the anorexia. Not a good role model for the youngins. She needs help.

    • Potato says:

Exactly. Check out her “college weight” pics. She was pretty. Her face looks so square now and the malnutrition is affecting her hair health.

  22. Cupcake says:

Ugh, tragic look. She is stunning though.

  23. Bridget says:

Clip on bangs? NO. Corey, step away from the clip on bangs!

  24. Nancy says:

She has a rather prominent forehead, so I think the layered bangs are okay. You can’t rock bangs unless you really like them and feel comfortable with them or they just won’t work. She is at the I’m still not used to them point and looks uncomfortable, just has Michelle Obama did…and grew them out.

  25. benchwarmer says:

I’ve always found her a compelling actress on Girls. I like the bangs, I think it works, I’d side sweep them though.

  26. Potato says:

She’s getting to the social x-ray stage. She was really pretty “chubby” – look her up in that singing vid of hers. And her hair looks really thin due to malnutrition. Striking eyes but narcissistic vibes.

  27. Blackbetty says:

I dont like her character at all on girls.

  28. Greenieweenie says:

Should have just gone for a heavy blunt fringe. This wispy stuff looks terrible–people are afraid to commit, but this is a terrible alternative.

Never found a fringe tough to grow out. I guess if you have all long hair, they might be. Mine’s always kinda short and shaggy so growing it out only looks awkward for like two weeks top–when they hang in your eyes

  29. lisa2 says:

He is a HORRIBLE hair stylist. Basic as all get out. And you can see it in his clients.

  30. Mariska says:

Upgrade. She has a masculine jaw line and a long face, so it gives her a bit of softness and breaks up the length of her face.

  31. teacakes says:

She looks great, in a Francoise Hardy way. It actually softens her face and makes everything look a lot less harsh, she’s a pretty woman but her old hairstyle just put ten years on her. This is a massive improvement.

I’ve never understood this site’s anti-bangs thing anyway (we call it ‘fringe’ here), it’s just so backward. Some people actually DO look better with that style, and Allison is one of those.
