Rupert Everett gets a new face, thanks to surgery and Botox

blithe spirit afterparty 160309

They say the key to good cosmetic surgery is having little bits done here and there. That way, you don’t overdo it, and have more control over what’s happening with your face. And most importantly, it’s less obvious. That way you don’t walk into your job of five years and have your boss introduce himself and ask how he can help you. Which is exactly what must be happening to Rupert Everett – though perhaps he wants even more anonymity than he’s already got (snap!). Rupert just had some extensive work done, and showed up to the “The Rachael Ray Show” looking 10 years younger. If 10 years ago his forehead looked like a classroom whiteboard.

Rupert Everett’s dashing good looks were getting a little droopy. But now he’s more than ready for his close-up!

The actor, currently starring in Blithe Spirit on Broadway, debuted a fresh-faced new look on The Martha Stewart Show on April 10. And he doesn’t just have makeup artists to thank.

According to Dr. Brian S. Glatt, founder of the Premier Plastic Surgery Center of New Jersey, Rupert, 49, has had a comprehensive series of facial procedures. “I think Rupert had a face-lift,” Dr. Glatt tells Star. “His cheeks are fuller and lifted, and his jawline and neck are pulled back and smoother.”

As for his forehead, Dr. Glatt says it’s simply Botox. “I think he’s definitely using it. He is very animated, and there are no lines visible on his forehead.”

The last element in Rupert’s new look, says Dr. Glatt, is a chin implant! “The shape and projection of the chin is drastically different. It’s much more pointed,” he says.

In all, the surgeries could have set Rupert back almost $25,000!

But it was worth it. Dr. Glatt, who has not treated the actor, observes, “This is an impressive difference. He looks 10 years younger!”

[From Star]

I would really argue against the positive spin Star takes on Rupert’s face. He might look younger, but he doesn’t look human. Is that really a good trade? The funny thing about this is that less than a week ago Everett mocked fellow gay men, calling them tiresome and saying their desire to have children is egocentric and vain. I don’t recall the last time I’ve seen such sudden and dramatic cosmetic surgery on a man – where does he get off accusing others of vanity? Kaiser is a firm believer that he’s a he’s a bitterly repressed self-loathing gay man, and I’m going to have to agree. He’s constantly bitching and moaning and lecturing and complaining.

In December of 2007 he went off on some of Hollywood’s biggest actors, saying, “‘De Niro, Redford, Keaton, Allen, Pacino … They’re all just tragic parodies of themselves. Al Pacino looks like a mad old freak now.’” I think Rupert described his new face perfectly. It’s a tragic parody of himself.

    I don’t see a huge difference!

  2. Maritza says:

I don’t see any difference either!

  3. Celebitchy says:

Star has a better picture than we’re using, we had to rely on screenshots of a small video:

  4. Alexis says:

He looks pretty bad in both photos. He doesn’t look 10 years younger, he looks like he had too much botox and his eyes are closing.
Plastic surgeons are nutjobs! These people do not look younger. They look like older people who’ve had plastic surgery. ALL OF THEM! Remember when NY Magazine called Madonna the “ultimate” face?
It’s disturbing when the people with licenses to alter faces are the people who we turn to for our standard of beauty.

OMFG! I just checked out the link to Star magazine. Why the hell would anyone do that to themselves. That is truly disturbing!

  5. Ursula says:

He has so much anger in his eyes like Rose O’donnel. Anger is never cute. I wish he would soften his eyes.

  6. Spike says:

I think he’s been hooked on plastic surgery for some time. This is what he used to look like.

Doesn’t even look like the same person. Sad…

  7. Ling says:

He looks gruesome. Like a corpse. And, I think, older, more grandfatherly.

I’m a huge fan of Everett. And his old face, though a bit more harshly angled after a decade, still reminds me of him in his costume for A Midsummer Night’s Dream and makes me all fluttery. Now he looks… weirdly like Peter O’Toole but with this buffed forehead.

  8. Tia C says:

@ Ling – I agree. He does look gruesome, like a corpse. Like some undertaker’s view of what he might have looked like in life. That’s really a shame. He used to be so handsome. If he had just let himself age naturally, he would have been fine. Definitely some self-loathing issues going on there.

  9. Julia says:

If I walked by him in the street I might think – that man looks a bit like Rupert Everett. Only might. I wish people would leave their faces alone…

  10. Ryo says:

He used to be really cute – I loved him in My Best Friend’s Wedding. I was really shocked to see those STAR pics because I hadn’t paid attention to him since then. Sad.

  11. geronimo says:

@Spike – fab pics of him. The really sad thing is that this is a face that would have naturally aged really well, he has beautiful bone structure and features.

  12. neelyo says:

He looks like Sam the Eagle from The Muppet Show.

  13. heima says:

    two unfortunate pictures of rupert…
in the first one he looks like lurch, in the second one he’s like a two-dimensional bleed dry sylvester stallone.
    but i love this man.

  14. IvyMades says:

Omg… He used to be hot. Ugh! Plastic surgery never makes people look younger. You lose the lines, but the shape of your face become unnatural. It’s sad..

  15. KateNonymous says:

The “after” photo from Star looks like the results of extremely bad airbrushing, not surgery. Since when does plastic surgery make someone look blurry?

I’m not saying he hasn’t had any, but the photo looks more altered than he does.

  16. Ggirl says:

Rupert went the WRONG way on the appearance scale; he looks worse! What’s up with him? Jessica Lange did the same thing to her once beautiful face. I prefer wrinkles and humanity compared to the freeze frame look of a ghoul.

  17. Ceenitall says:

Sam the Eagle (hehe) that is who he looks like!

  18. Jojo says:

Can you put an earlier photo to compare? Like one from the movie he did with Madonna?

  19. Ryo says:

Now that I think about it KateNonymous could be right – STAR always messed with pictures worse than any other tabloid. Almost always when you see a pic the person’s skin tone has been messed with for no reason, it’s why their pics look odd compared to other tabs.

  20. Zoe (The Other One) says:

Shame, he used to be such a good looking guy – why mess up the great looks nature gave you.

  21. lisa says:

Both pics are horrid. His bad attitude makes him ugly to begin with.

  22. Em says:

Wow. He might look a little better but he doesn’t look like Rupert Everett anymore. Shame.

  23. Ophelia says:

That is terrifying! He looks like a completely different person.. or non-human. Creepy..

  24. Gistine says:

He looks like Sam the bald eagle from the Muppet Show.

    Poopy and grim.

  25. KCjersey says:

Wow!! Reminds me of Jennifer Gray. What a shame.

  26. UrbanRube says:

Thanks for posting those, Spike. He really used to be an amazing-looking human. It’s sad that he can’t let himself age naturally. Makes you wonder if he feels deep down that his looks were all he ever really had, although he’s witty enough. Maybe he never got over being a rent boy.

  27. Ally says:

He has a great persona for interviews and tell-all books, but he’s a mediocre-to-terrible actor.

He had what should have been tailor-made lead parts in “An Ideal Husband” and “The Importance of Being Earnest” and he actually stultified Oscar Wilde’s wit and gave the worst performance of both movies.

Well, besides the appalling direction and pacing of Oliver Parker, both movies’ director.

In both men’s cases, it takes Bush levels of negative genius to make such a boring hash of such wonderful material.

p.s. Gistine, you are so dead on! Celebitchy, please post a side-by-side! (I am now going to go wash my brain out with soap, as Gwynnie recommends.)

  28. CB Rawks says:

Oh no! Rupert you silly boy!

  29. j. ferber says:

I really dislike that Rupert is being picked on in this blog. JayBird, skewer anyone else you want to, but please, leave my beloved Rupert alone.

  30. Mary Stevens says:

He still looks wonderful on Broadway in Blithe Spirit right now — but I was in the rear mezzanine, not the audience. Can’t tell about major changes in his face without opera glasses (which thankfully I didn’t have).
Good job acting in this play, rejuvenated or not……

  31. embertine says:

I think it’s a bit rich to say that guys who want to settle down and have babies by surrogacy are vain, and then have as much surgery and wear as much make-up as he does.

Perhaps if he didn’t make his sexuality his only topic of conversation then he might get more jobs, as he’s very talented.

  32. Maggie says:

LMFAO, stupid vain old queen, you look awful.

  33. Autumm Leaves says:

I like Rupert. I need to get a better look at his face before making additional comments. From what I see so far, he looks tight. Maybe his face will get more character and move. He’s funny and talented. I want to see more of Rupert.

  34. j. ferber says:

Autumn Leaves, So nice to see a comment supporting Rupert. I have loved him ever since seeing him in Another Country. My husband is fine with this. He’s a good writer, too: his autobiography and a novel called Hello, Darling, Are You Working? (I think that’s the title) are fabulous reads.

  35. paulo says:

genetics darling all it boils down to, im 32 and i look 24 people who act have issues, most i have dated and been out with do, bless, just grow old graceful.

  36. a2area says:

I’ve just stumbled upon all of this Rupert Everett surgery stuff and still cannot figure out if it’s really real?!

I really hope that if it’s true he has just had some botox that will wear off (please GOD!).. even if he was aging he wore it well.

    http://cityfile.com/system/article_images/5377/139155.jpg

The before picture at the top of this thread and the after picture in the above link are the same and he looks much worse than in the first pic in the link a year earlier. Looks like he’s wearing make-up and trying too hard to look young (not working). Maybe he is getting botox too soon before appearing at events or on TV!!

Let it wear off and don’t mess with that crap again Rupert!!

  37. k. p. says:

OMFG! i loved rupert so much! he was soooo sexy! now he looks like absolute crap. Doesn’t even look like him. WHY? RUPERT WHY????
