Jennifer Lopez on her workouts: it’s ‘hard work’ but ‘doesn’t feel like exercise’

Do you have two personal trainers and a bottomless wallet with which to buy skin care products? Well, if you do, you can look like Jennifer Lopez! The 46-year-old singer/dancer/actress recently shared her beauty secrets with People Style Watch and some of them are easier to achieve than you might think. Jennifer, who is currently performing her dazzling show “All I Have” at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, has been the subject of plastic surgery rumors as of late. But I tend to believe she definitely puts in the hours to keep her mind and body at the top of their game.

Many of us kick off the day by either incessantly hitting the snooze alarm until the last possible moment (guilty) or wake up stressed about work, kids and family. Not Jennifer, who takes a different approach, “I try to always to get as much sleep as I can so that I can start the day well rested and do my morning meditation and affirmations.”

Up next, exercise. You and I might hit a Zumba class, but Jennifer has us beat. She admits that it’s “hard work,” but told People, “It’s no secret that I love dancing, so it doesn’t even feel like exercise to me. I freestyle dance with Tracy Anderson five times a week. We’ll incorporate light weights (3 lbs) for the arms and moves that focus on the butt and thighs and engage the core.” And if that’s not enough, she has a trainer on both coasts. Tracy tends to her in LA and trainer to the stars David Kirsch puts her through the paces when she’s in the Big Apple. According to Jennifer, “We do hour-long circuits at least three times a week. Its full-body training — so planks, pushups, boxing — really everything. It’s all about changing it up and keeping your body guessing.”

As for her beauty routine, sun protection is key. Jennifer uses a moisturizer with SPF every single day. The L’Oreal spokeswoman also swears by glycolic acid to get that “healthy glow and clear skin” as well as night cream. Oh, and she never sleeps with her makeup on. Very guilty, especially if karaoke the night before is involved. In fact, J-Lo recently showed off her makeup-free, “woke up like this” face in a Dubsmash clip that her boyfriend Casper Smart posted to his Instagram page. It’s kind of nice to know she wakes up looking pretty much like all of us.

You’ve got to admit, Jennifer looks great. I’m sure she works hard (those workouts sound slightly brutal) and it shows. If you don’t believe me, check out these photos from this week’s episode of her TV series Shades of Blue. And major props for allowing fans to see the real Jennifer. I have never posted a picture to social media without makeup. Then again, I’m no J-Lo.

She does look great but I wish people would be more honest about the lasers and other little tweaks they get….

Because I want to get them too.

    • PinaColada says:

+1 anyone who believes she just sleeps, dances, and wears maybeline or whatever the brand was is crazy. I’m sure she does lasers. They’re easy, sonewhat affordable and little downtime. Also, I have always, always thought she looked amazing but I think she is starting to slightly show her age. Boo. Then there’s no hope for me as a mere mortal!

    • Birdix says:

And the air brushing/photoshopping! In that instagram image it’s ridiculous. I have friends who do this, it makes me sad.

  2. HollandW says:

Ah! Tracy Anderson pops up yet again.

  3. Little Darling says:

That video is amazing! Thank you to Casper Smart for at least giving us one great thing during his run with her.

  4. Pandy says:

I’m sure she does work out to the max … But after twins, I’m betting she’s had some assistance with the body. And when you see her make up free you can really appreciate how trowel led on her make up is. Wow. I feel better about myself lol.

    • perplexed says:

I think she’s really pretty, but I’ve never really liked the way she does her make-up, if I’m honest. I don’t get why that kind of make-up is considered fashionable, even though I understand it might be a more polished, expensive look. Maybe I just like natural looking make-up more.

    • Citresse says:

Yeah twins= greater hunt for tummy tuck specialist post natal care.

      • Bridget says:

Not necessarily. She’s famous for her killer work ethic. Even after having twins it’s possible to work your way back into shape, plus your skin shrinks back to approximately where it’s supposed to go over time. If anyone is capable of doing it the old fashioned way, J Lo is.

      • Citresse says:

I think it depends on too many factors re- saggy, stretched skin and skin memory. The big one is how fast was weight put on. Some women also believe preventative measures can stop them from having stretch marks, but it’s down to your genetics.

      • Bridget says:

Oh, stretch marks I agree on. That’s just luck of the draw there. But I don’t really have a clue what JLO’s body looks like aside from what it’s swathed in Zuhair Murad.

I just think it’s important to know that carrying twins doesn’t completely ruin your body. J Lo is famous for her work ethic when it comes to her figure, and while it’s not my place to decree whether she had any work done or not, it’s also absolutely possible that she just worked her way back to that body. It’s not impossible at all.

Shades of Blue is reallllly good!!!!

    • me says:

Yeah I have to say the show is good. Her acting is great actually. She looks very different in it though. You can see her wrinkles. Never knew she had any !

      • JFresh says:

Really? It’s good? From what I saw on the previews it looked contrived. Maybe I will have to check it out.

    • FF says:

lol, I just decided to get caught up on Shades Of Blue and I’m surprised how fast I’m invested in all the characters and their stories. I’m pretty much scared for everyone at this point but really enjoying it.

Now I’m stuck waiting for next week.

Only thing that bothers me is how fast reviewers dismiss shows with multiple PoCs that aren’t the usual. I mean this is a procedural but a messy as hell one, and yet, the number of reviews I kept reading rushing to dismiss Lopez’ acting was a bit much. They pulled this crap with Scandal when it started. But this is kind of the reason PoC performances often have to knock it out of the park repeatedly only just to be considered as good.

Personally, I thought her pre-polygraph meltdown scene was excellent.

Anyway, her show is good. I’m enjoying the entire cast. Glad it got renewed. So long as it doesn’t collapse turn into True Detective S2 levels of crapitude, I’ll be happy to keep watching.

  6. Maggie says:

I think she looks great for her age and her hard work shows.

    • Esmom says:

Yes. And I would love to have a well-paid trainer to put me through hour long circuits a couple times a week, someone who’ll mix it up continually. Such great exercise…but there’s no way I can manage a whole hour on my own. And for me the challenge is finding a class that doesn’t get stale and repetitive.

      • Maggie says:

Go on the Internet. There are plenty of programs. I’m going to start a Latin dance video to mix things up. I’m a real workout enthusiast too but really dislike groups and like to workout at my convenience.

      • Esmom says:

I will give it a try, thanks. I still think I need the motivation of a class and instructor for this kind of workout but maybe not?

      • MTGB says:

Esmom, have you heard of ClassPass? It’s a monthly subscription that lets you take all kinds of fitness classes and I LOVE IT. Great variety (I get bored really easily) and I agree that an instructor helps motivate & hold me accountable. (I think it’s only available in US metropolitan areas though… but it’s still growing)

      • Esmom says:

MTGB, thanks I’ll have to check it out. I’m in a major city so I’m guessing it’s available.

There’s an awesome instructor in my town who is perfect…except she just opened her own studio and charges $25 a class. Just too much for me compared to the $7 I used to pay when she taught at my no-frills gym.

  7. Cara says:

All of that…and she’s waking up next to THAT guy!!!
    Not jealous!! 😁

  8. kri says:

Even with no makeup she looks great. You can see that she really is lovely. That being said, there is some tweak to the face I cannot quite put my finger on. It’s really subtle, because she has good bones. As for the body, amazing. Sh’es got a hell of a work ethic. I just want to say……….as I was scrolling down, I did NOT expect Crapsar’s face that close up. Jesus, he is off-putting! He looks like a bald sock monkey puppet.

  9. Scal says:

She looks like a different person with no makeup on. The conturing her makeup people are doing is insane.

    • me says:

Especially her lips. Never knew her lips were thin. I always thought she had naturally plump lips !

  10. Susan says:

Whatever alleged tweaking she’s doing I commend her for because I’ve noticed her forehead moves and she still can make legit facial expressions…which is rare in celebrities these days

    • me says:

She doesn’t look frozen at all. That’s why I believe she really hasn’t had work done. Just good make-up. Watch her on “Shades of Blue”. You can see her face move, and wrinkles too. She’s not like most of Hollywood where their face is frozen in time.

  11. Cynthia says:

She’s beautiful but I didn’t expect her to look so drastically different without makeup. That contour is strong!

  12. OrangeCrush says:

Hour-long circuit training three times a week gets you that body?

    …not sure I believe that’s all it takes…

Also, you can tell in the picture without makeup that she has nice skin, but holy crap does her team spackle her with makeup and (I assume) hair extensions. She barely looks like the same person.

    • Esmom says:

Remember all the dancing she does, too. But I used to take a circuit training class like she describes twice a week (along with running a few days a week) and I was the fittest I’ve ever been. I can believe doing it three times a week would yield pretty amazing results.

  13. Allie May says:

Tracy Anderson again. This broad probably also claims to be a feminist (Tracy Anderson).

  14. A.Key says:

Not a fan, but she does seem like a confident woman, and I applaud that.

  15. Rockin Robin says:

I just want her to stop with the crap she wears at her shows. It just looks so desperate.

  16. Jordan says:

She’s not one of my favorite’s but I have to give credit where it’s due. There was a scene in Shades of Blue where she was putting on her pants that were very form fitting. She was shimmying into them with her shirt off and nothing jiggled on her stomach. NOTHING! I believe she does work really hard at her body.
