Star Magazine poses the question a lot of you have asked about Amy Schumer’s new boyfriend, is he using her for fame? Amy brought her new man, a 29 year-old furniture designer named Ben Hanisch, with her to the White House last month and he was also her plus one at the Golden Globes. Ben has been gushing about Amy on social media but she’s played it slightly coyer with him, at least online and in her acceptance speeches. Amy did tell People Magazine “we’re in love and it’s really exciting” and she’s been making a name for Ben. He seems like he’s into Amy, but people question whether he’s genuine about her using her as a springboard for his career. He’s done acting in the past and recently filmed a segment for Amy’s show, Inside Amy Schumer. They’ve only been together since November supposedly. Here’s part of Star’s story:

But Star has learned that wasn’t ben’s first foray into [acting]… [he] starred in the short film Last Train to Linden, a two-character psychological drama that was filmed in the Chicago area in 2013.

He starred in a dramatic short… and in a 2014 interview with a local web magazine, admitted that he “spent all [my] money on acting classes” after he returned to Illinois from Utah, where he attended college. “I don’t think it’s far fetched at all that Amy’s showbiz connections could have upped Ben’s interest in her,” says the insider.

Star dug up whatever dirt they could find on the guy and all the had was a conviction for underage alcohol possession and $400 in unpaid fines for renovating a warehouse in 2010 without the proper permits. He’s hardly a criminal. Amy has a sketch comedy show and she’s brought other friends on, so I don’t know how damning it is that Ben was on the show. It may have even been Amy’s idea. I don’t know, these two seem over the top to me but I’ve seen other new couples go crazy like this on social media. Sure he might be drawn to Amy’s fame, but she’s an incredibly successful person, that’s an attractive quality.

Really over the top, so cheesy and cringeworthy. The fact that he’s so public about it all makes me suspicious. I’d be curious to hear how they met and how their relationship developed.

This. Anything this over the top raises red flags. Maybe he’s swept up in the fame and glamour but he wasn’t a part of the process leading up to her success so it feels very strange that he’s so happily basking in the spotlight now.
That’s exactly it. He’s riding her coattails. Not a very attractive quality – stand on your own! The instagram on the plane would be a dealbreaker for me. I mean barf! It has shades of Brooks from RHOC. Run Amy, run!
They’ve only been together like a month and I’m already sick of this couple. It’s like Amy is trying to show the world, “Hey I can get a boyfriend!!” And he’s clearly just in it for the fame and attention. If they went away and never came back no one would miss them.

In her interviews with Howard Stern (that took place over a few years) he would ask her about her on-and-off-again comedian boyfriend, and the wrestler she dated, and other guys… it seems to me she has a habit of dating guys who are very cool to her publicly, sort of stand-offish, maybe just private. Maybe she finds it refreshing to be with a guy who’s so publicly happy to be dating her. Even if he turns out to have other motives, I can’t fault her for enjoying a different kind of relationship for now.
I think he’s using her too. Waaay to many “look at how beautiful” and “sorry guys, but I’m crazy in love!!!” Calm down dude. Too much….

its not a weird filter, in the comments there are also more pictures where he is clearly having blackface on. also the hashtag “blacknwhite” gives it away.
It’s not that Amy is not worthy of all the adoration and love in the world, but IDK, wouldn’t you want to meet his family, friends, roommates, siblings, cousins, ex-girlfriends etc. before deciding someone is the love of your life and having them put that out there?
And yeah, if I were her I would hire a google investigator and a real PI to tail this guy but maybe it’s just that I would have serious trust issues if I were a celeb.

That pic he posted “one more because-“… Does anyone else think he posted that in a passive aggressive way? I mean, Amy does not look good in that shot; she looks drunk and her dress is awkwardly creased, her underwear support looks like it packed up and went home, and she has weird marks that make it look like she was scratching at her crotch area. Her face looks good, but… Contrast to him looking pretty fresh still. It just seemed to me like he was hoping people would notice a difference in attractive levels.
Oh i liked that she looked kind of out with her out of shape ness. I sent a pic to a new date that was darkish. Turns out my phone was on low light and my butt shot is just hideous. Like super flat and bubbly at the same time. Now I realize that bulges are not cool to send on social media. Oops.

Yeah I’m getting the g vibe too! Maybe it is the body language in the second photo-which I just have to say is really not a great pic of Amy. She needs a slip or spanks-sorry not sorry!
