Teresa Giudice has had 13 stories on People’s website in the past day

Yesterday, Kaiser pointed me to the “News” section of People Magazine, where there were no less than a dozen stories, in a row, on Teresa Guidice. It was ridiculous. I didn’t have the foresight to take a screenshot, but the clever people at Jezebel did and you can see what I’m talking about here. (Scroll down, I really hope it’s not true about KStew and Liam Neeson.)

I wondered aloud why People tends to latch on to d-list reality TV people whom we usually hate, like The Duggars and before that the Gosselins and Kaiser made the obvious point that they’re probably being paid by the networks. Oooh. So Teresa is off house arrest, she’s going to be back on television soon, and her husband is about to head to jail so Bravo is going to milk this for all it’s worth.

Bravo rewarded these people for stealing millions of dollars by giving them a career and by continuing to keep them famous after they did a minuscule amount of time. Teresa is absolutely capitalizing on her crime by writing a book about her stay in prison and leaking details to the celebrity outlets. I really wish that the judge in her case would have had the foresight to have Teresa’s wages garnished indefinitely until her creditors were paid off but that obviously didn’t happen.

And in case you’re interested in any of the umpteen details that People Magazine is reporting on, you can read one of their many, many stories on this felon. They’ve compiled everything at the URL People.com/Teresa The only thing I was interested in was the fact that Teresa didn’t watch Orange is The New Black before she went to prison, because if there’s anything this woman is good at it’s living in the deepest amount of denial possible. If she would have watched OITNB she would have known that it’s not news that inmates use maxi pads for just about everything. It seems Jenji Kohan got that detail right. Oh and Joe is still a terrible alcoholic who drinks two bottles of wine a night but he thinks it’s no biggie because he can detox in prison. Good luck going through the DTs in jail, Joe.

I really hope People doesn’t put her on the cover this week.

I heard a People employee co-authored her book and that’s why all the Teresa ‘news’.
I despise these criminals being glorified. Hope no one buys the book.

  2. Tate says:

How these criminals still have any fans is beyond me. They screwed over many small businesses but who cares about that?? Dirtbags.

  3. GoodNamesAllTaken says:

Anybody can be famous. Anybody can have a tv show. Here’s the proof.

  4. Josefina says:

Do I live under a rock or is it normal to have never heard of this woman?

    • Grant says:

She’s from of the Real Housewives of New Jersey. She went to jail last year (just got out) after taking a plea offer on charges of tax evasion and (mail?) fraud.

    • Msmlnp says:

Don’t come crawling out from under your rock for this one. You are clearly living your life right.

  5. NewWester says:

I like how Teresa is standing in front of a wall with the word “Envy” all over it. Envy is one word that does not come to mind when I look at this woman.

  6. RhoSue says:

    WHY?

  7. Neelyo says:

    Crook.

    • crtb says:

I find it appalling that she can cheat the government and spend so little time in jail. Any other regular citizen would have had their house, car, bank accounts taken. Their children would have been taken by CPS. They would have spent years in jail. No 100,oo car waiting outside upon their release. No magazine covers. No fancy clothes or parties.

  8. Bridget says:

Before she went to jail, Teresa was one of Bravo’s highest paid Housewives and apparently people actually watched RHNJ (though I certainly couldn’t tell you why). Not to mention, People probably paid for those stories themselves and are just trying to get their money’s worth – unless anyone thinks Teresa would do ANYTHING for free?

  9. ldub says:

Unless the 13 stories involve an explanation of that hairline, I ain’t interested.

  10. Nancy says:

Awarding bad behavior is never a good thing. I should thank her because she’s the reason I stopped watching any of the housewives shows years ago. The image I have of her is cursing like a drunk sailor literally table flipping in front of her idiot peers AND children. Good mothering skills. Thanks again Andy, you managed to ruin an entire network with these bimbos.

    • Jib says:

That’s when I stopped watching too. But most people were “Team Teresa,” because DAnielle was a dirtbag too. But at least she didn’t end up in jail!!!!

      • meowren says:

@jib. Danielle went to jail, too. and if you ask me, it was for far worse than Theresa’s crimes. the whole first season of RHONJ was about this.

    • NeNe says:

Andy Cohen has zero standards. I’m questioning if he has any morals? I stopped watching the show, because as I see it, he’ll do anything for ratings. I personally believe he has a lot to do with promoting this low life chick. I’m still not understanding how you could put her back on tv? She’s certainly no role model. I know maybe it will bring high ratings, but still I’m always questioning, “Are there really that many people out there that will continue/start to watch the show now? All I can say is WTF!

Once upon a time, the magazine was actually interesting and covered relevant people. How it has slipped.

They feature attention hungry z-listers like the Duggars and (sadly) a little known singer whose husband keeps giving them photos of his bedridden wife. In such a classy way, the online headline of one of several about the singer this week started with the word ‘dying’.

    • I Choose Me says:

. . . a little known singer whose husband keeps giving them photos of his bedridden wife. In such a classy way, the online headline of one of several about the singer this week started with the word ‘dying’.

Wow. That’s straight up appalling. I mean, I can’t even wrap my brain around why the husband, and everyone involved would even think this is remotely okay.

    • Tania says:

Yes, these people are the worst of humanity. Seeing that husband profit off his wife’s impending death makes me sick to my stomach. The same way it bothers me to see those backwards, child abusing Duggars or that convicted felon profiting off her crimes. People have zero shame in this day and age and will promote themselves, whether they have talent or not, all in the name of the almighty dollar. And let’s be honest, these aren’t “good” people, these are the lowest of the low. We shouldn’t be watching them and no one should be paying them.

      • Christin says:

They seem to be seeking a very conservative religious audience with the D family and the singer. Not sure why this woman is getting so much of their space. It’s sickening what behavior is rewarded.

    • Christin says:

One of my co-workers brought in a recent issue this morning, and the Duggar cousin was on the cover. When the singer passes, I suspect the husband will get the cover.

I try to ignore the D family, but this singer situation has hit me in the face due to people sharing on social media the past few months. He has had photos and stories on several sites as well, with People now posting daily articles with photos.

I find it terribly exploitive and invasive. Especially since they have an album release and an award nomination since this started, and he has ramped up the photos and stories as both are happening this weekend.

  12. Sam says:

The only piece I saw that made me actually laugh was when she said, “I just signed some papers Joe gave me, and I went to jail for that.” Uh, no, honey. You signed fraudulent documents reporting income you did not actually have. That’s pretty cut and dry, legally speaking. She still has absolutely no idea what she did wrong. Why give such a person a platform in any way? I mean, at least some people come out of prison with some perspective. But just the way she phrased it was hysterical. You mean the government presumes that you read papers you signed? How presumptuous of them!

    • Froggy says:

Exactly!!! Still the same vapid moron who only values material things and seems to still be spending $ like it grows on a tree in her backyard. Plus she considers herself a victim. Its amazing how she learned nothing from her prison time.

  13. Isa says:

Dang, that’s a lot of stories. And I thought this website was bad about the Kardashian stories, but y’all have never had 13 in one day.

  14. Sam says:

Also, here’s my second question: I know that as part of the plea deal, the judge did order her and Joe to make restitution to some degree for the people they defrauded. If she’s coming back to RHONJ, I certainly hope there’s some plan to place for her pay to get garnished so that it goes back to the people and businesses they defrauded over the years. Is Bravo doing this or are they allowing her to just do whatever she wants with the money? A lot of those shows get around employment rules by doing some interesting classifications like independent contractor or something like that just so they can avoid crap like this. At this point, allowing her to come back seems like it’s just enabling the same awful behavior that led to the prison in the first place. I used to enjoy the series, but this makes me never want to watch again.

    • Christin says:

Some have thought that reality ‘stars’ get a lot of freebies (maybe even car leases). I remember seeing a new, bow-wrapped luxury SUV in her driveway after her release, and it was speculated that the network might have arranged it.

Even so, the value of the gifts should be reportable????

  15. Girlinbayou says:

Aww y’all are talking about Joey and Rory Feek. He actually is quite a good writer and photographer who has a blog which has been active for several years before she got sick. If you read the blog, it’s very detailed and it chronicles their life. It’s not like he started it when she got sick. People just took more interest in it after.

    • Sam says:

What people are objecting to is the serialized publishing of what amounts to a “death watch.” Cancer and death are serious subjects. Nobody has the right to intrude upon that stuff. Nobody objects to a very sick person documenting their life, especially when they have a little baby who will need those things to remember them. That is all perfectly legit.

What we object to is this serial promotion to a magazine. If they had a blog before, cool. But when you push it to a magazine, you turn it into a show for consumption. And that’s distasteful. No person deserves to have their pain, their disease or their death turned into a serial for consumers. I could at least understand people who were pushing some kind of message or agenda, but with Joey…there is none. There’s just a really sick woman trying to make the best of a bad situation. Why is that something thousands of internet commentators need a window to?

The other issue is that it’s predatory and vulture-like. People magazine didn’t give any space to them before, as artists. But now that she’s dying, they’re all over it. That’s vultures circling a dying animal – let’s be real. Dying should not be a process for public spectacle. I don’t blame the husband as much as a I blame the magazine, truthfully. I think the husband is grieving and wants people to be able to share that with him, so I don’t blame him. But he’s playing right into a vulture media.

      • Christin says:

Some are saying he (or they) cannot help that other outlets are picking up his blog and photos. Yet at least a couple of the outlets (this magazine being one) have done ‘exclusives’, which implies it is being supplied and likely paid for.

I’m personally amazed that they kept her illness completely quiet for a year or longer. Once she could no longer tour, they announced the sad news and these very raw photos started to drip and then pour.

If she is as medicated as he has recently stated, some also question whether she is fully aware of what is happening.

  16. QQ says:

For the F*ck what???! Only headline I want about her is when they do an in depth investigation on why is her hairline THAT way

  17. elle says:

Lord, that header pic. She looks like a muppet.
