Susan Sarandon: Piers Morgan ‘has way too much time of his hands, obviously’

As we discussed last week, Susan Sarandon’s cleavage took over the internet during the SAG Awards. People acted like they had never seen a 69-year-old woman rocking some cleavage. One of those people? Professional troll/jackass Piers Morgan. Piers had an absolute MELTDOWN on Twitter about Sarandon’s cleavage and how inappropriate it was, etc. Susan let Piers simmer in his own righteous, pissy anger for a few days, then she tweeted this:

Perfect shade. Seriously, that is some classy shade. Women around the intertubes have been trolling Piers for more than a week, sending him photos of their cleavage and yelling at him online for being a misogynistic baby. Mayim Bialik was on James Corden’s show with Piers and she flashed her breasts at him in solidarity with Sarandon. So when Susan was on the red carpet for Zoolander 2 last night, she finally spoke publicly about the Piers beef.

Susan on Piers: “[He] has way too much time on his hands, obviously.”

The solidarity of women: “I love the solidarity of women that came forward,” Sarandon said, referring to the large number of women who flashed their cleavage on Twitter in support of the actress. “I was very happy that all the gals came forward… I got a lot of positive [feedback] but I think they all sent him lots of pictures of their breasts so he must be happy too, right?”

[From ET]

Seriously, I bet some dudes are going to try to get the same kind of “backlash” that Piers got. I mean, women are probably still sending him photos of their Rebel Cleavage.

Here are some photos of Susan and her son Miles Robbins at last night’s Zoolander 2 premiere. People are making a big deal about these photos because ZOMG HE’S IN A DRESS. I don’t know… what else are you supposed to wear to the Zoolander 2 premiere?

Seriously?? It’s NOT about “the cleavage! Cleavage would’ve been fine, in and of itself. It’s about the appropriateness of wearing a bra as a shirt to do an “In Memoriam” segment . iT’s about class/respect for the situation. Sheesh.

    • V4Real says:

No! To Piers it was about it being inappropriate for a 69 year old flashing her cleavage. He could give two shits about the “In Memoriam.”

As for Mayim Bialik didn’t she not too long ago was talking about women who dress too sexy or for better word showing too much booty and cleavage. Now all of a sudden she’s on the cleavage bandwagon.

      • Sam says:

I don’t think Bialik was being hypocritical. She’s talked a lot about women flashing way too much in the hopes that it will make men like them and how that’s a lousy message. And she’s right. But I doubt Sarandon was trying to get any male approval with her outfit. She frankly probably wore it because she’s 69 years old and still can rock a bustier better than most 20 somethings can. And in truth, Sarandon was pretty covered up! Every one of us has seen 10 times worse on the red carpet.

      • Otaku fairy says:

Yes. Last year she thought it was “oppressive” and “too scandalous” for The Children of America to see a black and white photograph of a woman in high heels and a very conservative black bathing suit.

      • Otaku fairy says:

@Sam: It’s not lousy or unethical to want to turn on or attract whomever you happen to be attracted to, and it’s not a problem to act on that natural desire either, as long as you don’t constantly need their approval and don’t put having that approval over your rights and overall happiness. The other problem is that people forget that turning others on isn’t the only reason a woman may wear (or not wear) something.

      • Sam says:

Otaku: except that’s not what she was discussing. Even the very modest can dress sexily, particularly when it involves a spouse. But doing it to try to get validation IS fairly pitiful. We’re not talking about solid relationships – we’re talking about putting yourself out there in general for validation. I think you missed the point.

      • Otaku fairy says:

I don’t think it’s pathetic at all to want to be attractive to whomever you’re attracted to without a solid relationship already being there either, just like I don’t think wanting sex without a solid relationship already being there is pathetic. The important thing is whether or not the ability to turn someone on is the only thing you value about yourself as a person.
But that’s not the argument she went for. In her essay she made it about “Put it away because children” and women needing to be modest to prove they have talent, when we all know that it’s not an either/or issue. If she’s changed her stance on that though, good.

    • saras says:

Most women wear more revealing plunging gowns to award shows. She was sufficiently supported and mostly covered. With all the Miley Cyrus types wearing pasties, sheer dresses or balloons basically nude its not that inappropriate. I think it was ageism and Piers trolling.

    • Otaku fairy says:

It’s not like she just wore a bra and nothing else. She wore a white suit with it. Bra as a shirt? I’m sure he would have had the same reaction if she’d worn a gown showing the same amount of cleavage.

    • JenniferJustice says:

I think Piers is/was showing ageism. I didn’t care for her outfit because she comes across as desperate and try-hard and yes, it was inappropriate to wear to a memorium. It doesn’t matter what the tackiest wear like Miley and such. They’re beyond stupid. Susan Sarandon knows better but does it anyway because her boobs are what make her feel sexy. I also didn’t think it was cool because it was suppose to be her daughter’s time in the spotlight. If it were my daughter’s debut of any kind, I would go out of my way to minimize attention to myself. Susan can’t help herself.

Her son’s get up is embarrassing. Yes, I would be embarrassed if I were her. Not because he is gay or dresses in drag, but because his skirt is so short and his blazer is not buttoned straight. He lookes ridiculous.

    • TrustMOnThis says:

Somehow I doubt Bowie (who was her lover in the ’80s) would have minded.

  2. Nancy says:

I don’t like flashing too much skin at any age….I’m not a please look at me kind of a girl, but Piers Morgan is total douche and if he deemed it wrong, should have chatted it up with his girlfriend or boyfriend. So all his incessant need for attention did was give Susan more boob time. She wins.

  3. QQ says:

Bwahahah didn’t detect the lie anywhere, Piers needs a Hobby YESTERDAY!!

also It’s her son wearing a … Brony dress???!

  4. knower says:

I have to admit I straight up love this woman.

  5. Sixer says:

“But I think they all sent him lots of pictures of their breasts so he must be happy too, right?”

Lord love her. Cos I know I do.

I tend to be more crude: big boobs vs needle d!ck = no contest.

  6. Lin says:

We can debate all day if her outfit was appropriate or not but let’s not lose sight of what’s happening here; Piers Morgan is a fool and an arsehole. I once found his views entertaining but right now it’s all about arse-kissing and name-dropping for him. I bet if ever there was a time Ms Sarandon came on his show and willingly took photos with his kids his views on this would be different. Go and read his take on the whole Kanye-Amber-Kim debacle and you’ll get me a bit. This man genuinely think people hate Kim because ZOMG we’re so jealous of her. He’s also part of the #AllLivesMatter whites and he really likes Donald Trump. Did I mention he’s a name-dropper.? seriously go read up his article on Kanye’s crazy and cringe like hell. He can be realistic a bit but it’s mostly about his celeb friends. His kids on the other hand are brilliant

  7. Liz says:

Oh come on! The headline on this and other media related sites should state that the issue was that a grown woman wore a bra underneath a suit to a prestigious event. She wore the visible bra to the red carpet and to present the in memoriam segment. It’s manipulative and inacuurate to present it any other way.

    • Otaku fairy says:

Let’s not pretend David Bowie was a Mike Huckabee.

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

And we all know she’s the first grown woman in history to show cleavage at a prestigious event. It simply has never been done before. All those dresses cut down to the navel, see through fabrics, side boob – all your imagination.

The issue is that Piers Morgan doesn’t have any business telling Susan what she can and can’t wear. Bras have been worn as outerwear since I was in my twenties, and I’m 59. He doesn’t seem to mind when young women show cleavage. Just an older woman. In any event, it’s none of his business.

  8. stinky says:

    she looks ridic.
    wtf.

  9. spidey says:

For those in the US who aren’t aware – 90% of the UK were delighted when he went to America, the other 10% had never heard of him. He is the worst kind of tabloid newspaper editor with no integrity for honest news reporting.

  10. Otaku fairy says:

Love it! And nice to see that Mayim Bialik has updated her views. 🙂

    • Ennie says:

She shut his ranting about feminists. Successfully.
Glad to see that, even if she has her own views and limits due to her culture or religion, she does not take herself so seriously and can jokingly do things like these. She also instagrammed her chest, hahaha.

  11. serena says:

Seriously she’s stunning, talented and can also shade perfectly. She’s all and more!
As for her son.. did people really focus on his dress? What about the ponies? lol

  12. Elle says:

Breast are SO shameful. How dare she reveal them. So crude and distasteful, those breasts, and that bra. The memoriam was overshadowed by people caring so much about “omg”.. “Breasts”. So disrespectful ! And why? …Women have been taught that their breasts are sexual objects, and are shamed for it. How about we stop objectifying women’s bodies? How about that? No, you gotta cover them up lest they distract people from important matters. Perhaps that is men such as Piers’ problem that they care so darn much. I for one am glad that a woman such as Sarandon is normalizing showing cleavage. Women’s bodies and sexuality have long been scrutinized and shamed. I think it’s okay to be like “yes I show my breasts. And no, I’m not being disrespectful in doing so”. It is related to the mentality of “she’s asking for it”. It breeds the idea that women’s bodies/sexualities are inherently shameful. That is the dangerous, and distasteful message.. not beautiful breasts.

  13. Elle says:

Also, I loved the article her son wrote in huff post, I think it was, regarding gender norms and dresses.

  14. SM says:

Her son just outdid derek zoolander. Awesome jacket, tights and blue steel look. NAILED IT!!
