Final trailer for ‘Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice’: 2 Fast 2 Batfleck?

batfleck1

Several new trailers dropped on Thursday, so I thought we’d play a little game of “Which movie would you rather see, based solely on the trailer?” My answer is “none of these,” by the way. I guess I’m alone in looking forward to X-Men: Apocalypse, because everything about Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice just looks ridiculously stupid.

Round 1: Batfleck v. Superman.

In this, the final trailer for the film, we once again have a clip of the Batfleck saying that if there’s a 1% chance that Superman is up to no good, then he must be destroyed, which has led some people to compare the Batfleck to Dick Cheney. I wholeheartedly approve of that comparison. I get the feeling that the Batfleck was given a lot of expositional dialogue as a way of spoon-feeding the “conflict” between himself and Superman to the audience. Anyway, here’s the trailer:

At around the 1-minute mark, when the Batmobile does the slo-mo turn and the headlights catch Superman? That’s when I started giggling and couldn’t stop. It’s like 2 Fast 2 Batfleck up in here. On a 1-5 scale of “would I see this?” I’m giving this one a 3. I would watch it on HBO.

Round 2: Mother’s Day.

From the same people that brought you Valentine’s Day and New Year’s Eve, now we have Mother’s Day, where we’re supposed to believe that Atlanta, Georgia is this… white? Atlanta is a pretty multicultural, multiracial city, so why is the population of this film so pale? The on exception seems to be Aasif Mandvi, with a blink-and-you’ll-miss-him flash in this trailer (he seems to be playing Kate Hudson’s husband/partner). The film stars Jennifer Aniston, Hudson, Julia Roberts and Timothy Olyphant, amongst others.

It feels like Jason Sudeikis and Jennifer Aniston have played love interests in like five different movies at this point. Don’t get me wrong, they have chemistry and I know they like each other in real life. But get Aniston another costar! I give this trailer a 1 out of 5. It looks stupid.

Round 3: Equals.

This is the movie that Kristen Stewart and Nicholas Hoult filmed a few years ago. I guess it would be classified as “dystopian romance,” set in a sleek and futuristic world where emotions and love are banned and everyone takes drugs to stay numb. In that would, one fearless lip-biter and excessive blinker found love with a tall, handsome Brit. And while I have no desire to see this, I think it looks pretty.

Equals all the way and I HATE Kristen Stewart. But it’s the only one that looks remotely original.

    • Amelia says:

Don’t hold your breath on that count – I thought it reminded me of that Christian Bale film Equilibrium from the early 00’s.
The government eliminated warm by suppressing all emotions, art and music, or something along those lines. Ironically enough, Bale has the record for the most on-screen kills for that film.
Having said that, definitely keen to watch Equals.

    • Nic919 says:

Don’t like Stewart but I saw Equals at TIFF and Nicholas Hoult is the reason to watch it. Stewart is not bad. Not any obvious lip biting.

  2. redviper says:

I think Batman vs. Superman looks very cool, and i’m not even a DC fan. Damn that looks good, even with Ben Affleck in it.

  3. Lin says:

Kristen and Houlton needs to get together. They would make a cute couple

  4. The Original Mia says:

Ridiculously stupid sums it up nicely.

  5. D says:

Equals looks very similar to Equilibrium (Cubic) with Christian Bale

    • InvaderTak says:

Glad I’m not the only one that saw that! I love that movie. Sean Bean too.

    • Amelia says:

Ah, I replied to GlimmerBunny before seeing your comment!
Guess I need to slow down when reading! But yeah, my thoughts exactly.

Equals. I will be seeing BvS because I take a frail elder to the movies and she wants to see it. Nothing in this galaxy could make me sit through that Mother’s Day crap in a theater or at home.

    • Esmom says:

I’m pretty sure there’s an audience for Mother’s Day but wow does it look cheesy and cliched. I have secondhand embarrassment for the cast.

      • lilacflowers says:

I’m pretty sure there is an audience for it too but I’m not in that audience and I cannot stand any of the people I see in that cast.

  7. Eggland's worst says:

I am going to see the new X-Men movie. I am not going to see this nonsense. I’m trying to figure out how WB can get some of these so right (the Batman trilogy with Bale), and then get them so wrong (this). Unfortunately, this will make a ton of money and WB won’t feel a need to improve.

  8. lovemesseg says:

    Equals!

  9. Kate says:

I’m here for Lois and Clark in the bathtub and for Wonder Woman.

  10. HH says:

I’m going to see BvS. It looks nowhere near as good as X Men: Apocalypse or CA:Civil War, but it looks entertaining enough. I think the issue with the BvS trailers that I’ve seen is minimal plot. They remind me of a Michael Bay trailer. Beautiful shots, tons of explosions, cool cars, and beloved characters, which they are hoping should be enough.

  11. AG-UK says:

Cannot stand Kate Hudson so she will NEVER get my money only when she was killed off in that Casey Affleck film years ago as I read the book. So NO to Mother’s Day, all those “Day” films tend to be rubbish Valentine’s Day, Independence Day….

  12. CornyBlue says:

I saw Equals in TIFF and Hoult is so damn hot in it i wanted to start stanning him.
Will be watching BVS depending on how much Wonder Woman is there in the movie and if the RT score is above 85.

  13. minx says:

Hate me if you must, but I think Affleck looks kind of good in those pictures.
As far as the movie, meh. I’ve never seen one Batman movie, not even the first one with Michael Keaton. Just not my thing.

  14. vauvert says:

Have never watched a Batman movie, he’s not my jam, but actually (gasp) Affleck looks good in this. How the hell did they manage that?? Anyway, I am there for Superman and Amy. I adore her and Superman (when played by the gorgeous Christopher Reeve) was my first superhero crush.
I never watch Aniston movies, and same for Hudson movies, so a big fat no to that one. Same for KStew.

    • Kate says:

Yeah they pretty much had me opening night with that cute as hell bath tub kiss with Clark jumping in the tub. I don’t really “ship” but there is just something about Superman and Lois Lane that just really gets my heart pumping. I blame it on both loving the original Superman movie growing up and then being obsessed with “Lois and Clark” when I was in middle school. Man of Steel didn’t have nearly enough romance in it for me so I’m just happy to see that there is going to be some cuteness amidst all the darkness and brooding. Also, random plug, but if you want to read something adorable try the Lois Lane YA novels “Fallout” and “Double Down” by Gwenda Bond. They are seriously great, fun books with a great heroine and a rather crazy cute young romance with Clark told from her POV. Basically I was so determined to be ambivalent about this movie but one cute bath scene and I’m like “oh ok fine. I’ll go see it.” LOL.

  15. Jellybean says:

The reviews will have to great for me to see BvS. I have lived through so many versions of those two (and Spiderman) that I just don’t care anymore. Affleck is an OK actor, but Henry Cavill is poor and, in his bulked up form, I don’t find him attractive at all. It isn’t even that I am rebelling against a new Batman, since I didn’t rate Bale, but most of his Batman films were good and that is why I saw them; if BvS has reviews that are just as good then I might make the effort.

  16. FingerBinger says:

Affleck’s batman looks a lot like Clooney’s batman. That’s not good.

  17. H says:

The trailers for B v S are not making me want to go and see it. Marvel does a much better job promoting their films. I am counting the days until Civil War.

  18. Eve says:

    Oh, forget this overwrought bullsh*t.

Go see Deadpool. NOW. I promise there is at least one scene that will make your jaw drop.

  19. Insomniac says:

Dear God. All “Mother’s Day” needs is Goop in that cast and they could call it “The Insufferables.” A world of NO to that one.

  20. kri says:

Ben is veering into John Travolta Hairitory with those dreadful wiglets/plugs. horrible.

  21. MrsBPitt says:

Personally, after the crapfest, that the last Superman movie was, I think B vs S looks awesome! I also think, Ben Affleck looks amazing as Batman, and he also looks like the best part of the movie. I can’t wait to see it!!!!!

  22. Illyra says:

I think BvS looks like fun, and Ben is so damn hot as Bruce Wayne… mercy! Looking forward to seeing this one.

  23. CK says:

It may have just been the promise of Henry Cavill jumping into a bath tub with his clothes on (His terrible taste in women does not negate his hotness), but this is the only trailer that has gotten me excited about BvS. I mean that opening fight scene in the trailer was pretty cool and if that is any indication of what the action choreography will be like, I’m game. It just seems like they didn’t try when it came to the Mother’s Day trailer. Even the narration makes it sound like a parody. The only K. Stewart movie that I’m watching this year is the sequel to Snow White and the Huntsman and that’s because they unceremoniously dumped her and turned it into a drag show with Jessica Chastain, Charlize Theron, and Emily Blunt. I’d go see it for either of those reason.

  24. Emily C. says:

Atlanta’s both multicultural and one of the most progressive cities in the country. But the big players in Hollywood don’t even know the city of Hollywood outside their bubbles, of course they know nothing about Atlanta. They think “South” and they either think “racist hicks” or “sweet (almost always white) women without a care in the world who cook well and call everyone hon.”

  25. Jag says:

I think they showed all of the good parts in that Batman trailer, so there’s no need for me to see it. Not that I would have anyway, unless I were bored and it was on Netflix.

As for the others? I didn’t even click on the trailers because they look so bad.
