Possibly pregnant Miranda Kerr got her first lob haircut: love it or hate it?

kerr1

Breaking news: Miranda Kerr got a haircut! And unlike the faux-lobs going around the past few months, I think this haircut actually qualifies as an honest-to-God lob (you can see video of the lob here). A “lob” is the trendy word for a “long bob,” the It Haircut of the season. Even I came close to trying it – around Thanksgiving, I cut off about 3-4 inches of hair in a faux-lob. It actually was sort of a precursor to what Duchess Kate did, and hers was called a “lob” too, only it wasn’t. Kate and I both could not pull the trigger on actually cutting our hair to our shoulders, but I’m genuinely tempted. God help me, but I loved Khloe Kardashian’s lob, and I really like Miranda’s lob. Sigh… should I pull the trigger? GAH!

To celebrate her haircut (seriously), Miranda gave an interview to Harper’s Bazaar about her hair and some other beauty stuff. Some highlights:

Why she did the lob: “Well, I’ve been wanting to cut my hair now for at least a year. I’ve often fantasized about it but I haven’t been able to do it because of the contracts that I’ve had, but now I just got clearance from all the clients that I work with, so I was like, “Let’s just do it!” And everyone’s like, “Oh, we should do it for a special event, but I just wanted to cut it—I’m ready.”

Hair inspo: “I’ve been looking at different pictures, like one of my friend who’s always had really long hair but cut it really short. I’ve had long hair pretty much my whole life. I’ve never cut it this short before, except maybe when I was like, four years old, I guess I had this haircut. Not this exact haircut, because I used to have bangs and I obviously didn’t cut bangs today. But it’s really nice for a change—it feels really fresh. When I’m not working, I generally let my hair air dry. So I just dried it and then he put wave in it which I quite like and I was like, “Oh, this is perfect.”

Her bad beauty habit: “I love to tweeze my eyebrows and I’m a little bit OCD with my nails being perfect. And if I get a pimple, or if I see a pimple on anyone else, I love to get it. Obviously I do it properly with a tissue and what not, but I really like to squeeze, especially if it’s friends or family.”

[From Harper’s Bazaar]

One, I let my hair air-dry too! It’s so rare to hear that a famous woman air-dries. Two, she pops other people’s zits? That’s gross. Sure, it’s gross to pop your own zits, but most of us do that and it’s a private thing. But to go around, popping other people’s zits? Gross.

Incidentally, I’m sort of just using this “Miranda got a lob” story as an excuse to once again post these photos of Miranda at the Saint Laurent show in LA last week. I think I was one of the first people to point out that she looks kind of pregnant. I still think she is knocked up with Evan Spiegel’s billionaire baby. And it wouldn’t surprise me at all if she was quietly engaged too. But sure, she just loves him for his personality. Not because he’s a billionaire. She would totally be with him if he was just some guy, right? SO KNOCKED UP:

I say pull the triger, Kaiser! It’s a both lovely and manageable hairstyle.

    • Antonym says:

I agree, pull the trigger! I always say: it’s just hair, it always grows back so why not try something new?

  2. Locke Lamora says:

I love her hair. That’t the most fletterin haircut ever and it suits everyone. But she seriously gave an interview because of a haircut? Seriously?

    • vauvert says:

I think it depends on your face shape a lot, and the texture of your hair. Mine would puff up like crazy at that length unless I flat ironed it every day. It’s the worst length for curly/frizzy hair if you want low maintenance (I air dry. I use good products and then let nature take its course, I can’t be bothered spending an hour on my hair).
And yeah, I think she looks extra smug, she is totally engaged and pregnant. Way to go Miranda, you got your billionaire. But only because he is “an old soul”, and it has nothing to do with his bank account. Eyeroll😜

      • Bridget says:

Funny enough, I made my appointment to get my hair cut a couple of weeks ago and want to cut it into a faux lob because I have fine, curly hair and need it a little longer. I’ve been wearing it super long for a while now and am ready for a change.

    • HollyG says:

IKR? Pretty face, grasping personality, and that has to be the most pointless interview ever. In my head it’s conducted in a lisping Australian baby-doll mewl.

      • Camille says:

Considering she’s a model, these kinds of vapid, pointless interviews kind of make sense since her looks are her job. It’s when actresses do interviews about their hair that it becomes utterly ridiculous.

  3. Becks says:

Just do it Kaiser! I’ve had my lob for a couple of years and I love it! Don’t think I could go back to long hair.

  4. Say Whaa? says:

Pregnant? Could be awkward angles and bad lighting….but I think she’s pregnant too…If not, that’s one helluva food baby.

    • Ivy says:

Pregnant or not, that look is horrible.

    • Madge says:

She looks terrible in that outfit. It’s a real stripper look. This is the worst I’ve ever seen her looking. Also she looked much better and younger with long hair.

      • ichsi says:

I think it’s offensive to strippers to call that a stripper look. 😉 It’s some kept woman mafia wifey look that makes me shudder.

    • Sarah says:

It’s hard to say – she does look preggo but with that jacket over her shoulders she could be doing the mother of all back arches which would give a similar effect… hmmm… tricky

    • Abbott says:

If you watch the Lob Video she’s clearly not pregnant. No idea how to explain this look though.

    • Kate says:

I’m gonna say she’s pregnant. As body obsessed as VS models and former probably become, there’s no way she’s not pregnant looking like that.

      That’s not a food baby.

  5. Betti says:

I like the lob, considered it myself but I like my long hair too much. And she’s totally trolling the pregnancy gossip with the dress and the way she was posing. Considering she’s been billionaire shopping for a while I wouldn’t be surprised with a whoopsie – seems to be the model retirement plan.

  6. Allie says:

Not all of us can air dry our hair! I have the frizziest, thickest hair and I would look like hermione from Harry Potter.

    • OSTONE says:

I wish I could pull this hairstyle off. My hair is like yours and I have a rounder face. I tried it once and had to straighten it all the time.

  7. Sarah01 says:

She knows where’s the money’s at!
It’s suits her she looks better.
She is pregnant for sure in that pic. she was with Orlando when he was hot and making money they created the most adorable baby ever! Then she’s been shopping ever since and now she’s got a billionaire. He’ll bankroll her forever if it’s his baby. Why not he could have used protection.
I wonder what happened to Orlando I used really like him, he seems a nice guy with a gorgeous head of hair!

  8. Linn says:

Sorry, she’s gorgeous but I don’t think the new haircut suits her at all.

  9. Catwoman says:

The boobs give it away. Those are preggo boobs for sure.

    • jeanpierre says:

She bought herself a new pair some time ago. I think she is just trolling.

    • qwerty says:

Yeah, those are fake t!ts she got herself last year, or the year before.

    • fiona says:

Yep she got the breast implants sometime after giving birth. They look pretty good in my opinion. I don’t get the shame in having it done, they look tasteful…Unless she wears a yucky push up bra that pushes them up to her neck.

  10. I am a picker and I am not ashamed! Unfortunately I am coupled with someone who does not share my fascination. I think there are some people who are just reviled by it and some that get a deep satisfaction. My first blackhead extraction tool was a gift and my nose has never looked so pore less! This is my OCD to keep me away from my eyebrows.

    • aurelia says:

I love puss and pimples and looking for fleas on my cat. It means a persons simian ape dna is stronger than normal people. When we were virtaully apes we groomed each othe all day. Some poeple carry our anceint dna in those pimple hunting reflexes.

  11. Ramona Q. says:

    The lob/bob is PLAYED OUT.

    • isabelle says:

The bob has been around for almost 100 years. The one hair cut that will probably never die out. I’m getting tired of overly long hair and the fake hair extensions. Love that the bob has made a comeback and people are still using the cut this many years later.

  12. KB says:

all I have to say is, Bob Loblaw Lobs Law Bomb

  13. Armenthrowup says:

So pretty and yet so unlikable.

  14. InVain says:

This was predictable. The pregnancy, not the hair. So disgusted by it. You know the kid will be well cared for but….all just to trap a man.

    • jeanpierre says:

Oh yes the poor man he couldn’t even wrap it up. Poor poor man.

    • Sarah says:

Yeah that aint a thing. If he doesn’t want a kid he needs to take precautions. Claiming women trick men into babies is incredibly sexist and insinuates men are morons?
Last time I checked it takes two to make a baby so it’s never the fault of one party

      • aurelia says:

Settle down, she probably told him she was on the bloody pill and he trusted her. Its actually true for the past. Women trapped men for the ring. I asked my 75 year old mother and she she of course. Some of her friends got a marriage proposal that way. I guess today women have more options. But to deny this ever played out is just not true.

      • aurelia says:

This tactic has actually been going on since time began. Even our anceint female ancestors would copulate with males to ensure acceptance and food rights. Don’t try and theorize it through a feminist framework.

    • Kitten says:

Yeah this is like a Shakespearean tragedy: poor hapless billionaire gets his innocent peen trapped in scheming supermodel’s evil vadge.
Oh my, whatever will he do?

      • Dangles says:

Guys like this need to get Leo to mentor them on the fine art of not getting punked. I pity the fool who tries to pull this shit with any of my boys.

  15. minx says:

Love the hair, don’t love her.
She certainly looks pregnant. I guess she’s that desperate for big money that she would get pregnant by that immature, albeit rich, douche.

    • Dangles says:

Which is sad given that she’s already a multi millionaire in her own right. It seems the more some people have the greedier they become. As far as Aussie models go Jennifer Hawkins and Rachel Finch have Miranda Kerr beat every day of the week.

  16. Shannon says:

I have alopecia and would love to have the option of different hairstyles. I mean, I do, but with wigs only and they are expensive. Barring any medical conditions, cut your damn hair and relish in the fact that it will grow back. Not everyone has that luxury.

    • Denise says:

@Shannon – I hope you’re able to get it under control. It must be awful. My brother had it a few times and steroid injections in his scalp helped. I don’t think he’s had a problem since. But I know alopecia is a tricky one.

  17. Miran says:

Sometimes you can totally say its the dress, but in this case…no, shes pregnant.

  18. Angie says:

I got a lob last week and I’ve gotten so many compliments on it. My hair has never been this short before and because it is curly I can either let it air dry with just a bit of product to have cute curls or it takes me a whopping 5 minutes to blow dry it straight. I did it on a whim and I can always grow it out if I get the urge to have long hair again.

    • isabelle says:

My hairdresser says its the one haircut that flatters most women and looks good grown out if its cut correctly. Bet your cut looks flattering 🙂

      • Esmom says:

I might be the one person it doesn’t flatter, that length seems to enhance my worst features. Wearing it a little longer seems to balance my face out better somehow. It bums me out because I would love to go shorter.

    • minx says:

Sounds like a win/win. I may do it, I’m so bored with my just-below-the shoulder hair.

  19. Kate says:

I would love to do a lob, but my hair is so coarse and thick/wavy that the shorter it is, the bigger (floofier?) it gets. Length is my friend.

    • Jaded says:

Love that word “floofy” – my hair is too, I have to have layers in it otherwise it just runs amok.

  20. Claudia says:

I’ve had this haircut for years, I didn’t know I was so trendy…ha!

Also, I consider this to be long hair, it baffles me to call this length “short” …

  21. manda says:

I’m scared of the lob because I don’t really know how to style hair and worry that it would be flat and blah and that I would be unable to put it in a bun or ponytail. I don’t know how to make those chunky wavey tresses, mine just look messy to me 🙁

  22. Hello says:

Yep, I think she’s preggo 2. And I think that’s one of the reasons Orlando is so public with Katy, who he has seen for like… what? 3 weeks? If you love someone and just started dating that person and you’re both celebrities, you would think you would try to hide it to get privacy? The paps are all over them and knows where they are and they are posting pictures of themselves on social media and Orlando even talked to a pap about them doing the red carpet together in a couple of weeks. I think he’s still on the rebound and broken.

  23. lane says:

no, makes her face even fatter

  24. ell says:

i have a long lob, if i’m making any sense. it’s a totally a lob, just a bit longer than miranda’s. i used to have very long hair for most of my life, so cutting it was a big deal, but really my life is so much easier since my hair so shorter. styling is easier, drying is easier, also because my hair is quite straight and fine, i can finally have waves that aren’t gonna go flat after an hour because my hair is long so too heavy for it. i say cut it, you (most likely) won’t regret it. and if you do… well good thing about hair is that they grow back 🙂

eta: she doesn’t look pregnant to me, it seems like her stomach is slightly swollen, which is not very pregnancy like. maybe she had a sore tummy.

  25. kri says:

Do it, Kaiser!!! It will grow back. I cut mine and I really like it. As for MK and her baby bank, I’m sure she is more than pleased with Evan’s deposit. I hope “all of the clients” she works with her won’t be too devastated over her hair.

  26. Whats'up says:

Possibly pregnant? She’s 100% preggs! who has a belly up to her breasts from overeating? noone

  27. perplexed says:

If she’s not pregnant, that’s a very unflattering outfit.

  28. Ally says:

I like this look on her. I wonder if – like a lot of women do, who adopt the LOB first – she’ll be tempted to go way shorter next time? I’m pleased she’s trying something new as she’s previously had the same hairstyle forever.

I have a graduated bob that sits slightly under my chin and I love it. I have layers in the back to encourage movement and don’t really have to do anything with it – it just looks after itself. It’s very practical and easy! (It just costs a bit to maintain … cuts every three weeks).

  29. Sunshine says:

If you look at the video she and Harper’s Bazaar put out of her haircut……yes seriously, a video…..she is dancing around in a crop top and jeans shaking her new short hair and looking so not pregnant. Stomach flat as a pancake, so I don’t think she is.

    • Greenieweenie says:

Well if it was taken a few weeks ago, I think it’s still possible. Esp early in pregnancy and if you’re tall/have a long torso, you can go from showing/not showing overnight. I could still pass for not pregnant early in my second semester, some mornings.

  30. Kitten says:

Man, tough crowd for a Sunday. I think she’s wicked pretty and I like the lob on her.

  31. Denise says:

Go for it. Long hair cut to shoulder length looks great I’m a way that shorter hair grownup the shoulders doesn’t for some reason.

  32. Bridget says:

The pics she’s posted on her Instagram don’t look pregnant FWIW. But I’m just waiting for it to happen – of course she’s going to incubate a little baby Snapchat.

  33. Clairej says:

If it hasn’t happened it is only a matter of time. She has a serious game plan. Terrible to talk about a woman like this, without knowing her but she is so obvious and annoying. I really hoped once Victorias Secret got rid of her that would be the last of her.

  34. Snowpea says:

This woman gets on my last wick.

Fun fact: She is rumored to have dated Jamie Packer who was previously married to Erica Baxter…BOTH girls hail from Gunnedah, a tiny town in NSW, Australia.

    What are the odds?

  35. lene says:

this new hairstyle is not suit for her. make her face more chubby

  36. What's inside says:

She looks like an angel, the haircut is flattering, and if she isn’t preggers, then she ate a hell of a dinner before pictures. Of note, she was knocked up when she married Orlando Bloom and probably thinks that if it worked before, then stick with what works.

  37. LAK says:

This is a girl who IG’s her waist thinner. Her level of vanity dictates that she would not wear an outfit that made her appear pregnant if she wasn’t genuinely so.

  38. Crispy says:

I’m one of the few who actually like Miranda as much as you can like a model you read posts about and see a billboard of and go, “She’s soooo cute and fresh!” But then I’m never tempted to read her interviews or watch her vids unless they’re about health and nutrition. Let me tell you, she looks amazing – even if you don’t like her looks you have to admit she’s flawless skin-wise etc even with little makeup – because she really knows about great nutrition and stay thin but healthy. I’m team Miranda on this narrow front. Toss the self-help books though.

    • aurelia says:

I dislike her thirst but my god she looks spectacular nude on the cover of the australian harpers bazaar and continues to look amazing in the accompanying photo spread. . She got a small tit job to snare herself that skinny billionaire but other than that she looked so healthy and naturally beautiful. She is ultra health conscious and it shows. I presume those fake boozies are saline and not posionous noxious silicone.

  39. Girl says:

They attended the Grammys and she looks less knocked up but the body language siting down looks tense. I would say if she is preggo Kaiser totally called it and I can’t believe she was so transparent and still nailed it lol.

  40. fiona says:

Honestly this is the first time I’ve ever seen any kind of authentic personality from her in an interview. I find her so interesting in the sense that she doesn’t reveal anything about herself. Compared to her model peers, she reveals nothing. Which is fine, I’m sure she does that for business reasons so that she has more potential contract options. That pimple popping question revealed SOME kind of personality. Not much but more than this “I’m perfect and treasure yourself organic fruit” bs.

I know from other makeup artists who worked with her back in 2005/2006 can’t remember when. They said she smoked (She doesn’t anymore) and was one of the most stuck up, arrogant models they have ever worked with. She wasn’t rude but she gave off a pungent whiff of ‘I’m better than you and you’re nothing” vibe. Not that she’s an awful person for doing so, but it’s just interesting to me how utterly fake and forged her whole celebrity persona is. You never saw her genuinely making friends with fellow models back when she was with VS/various brands/events. You never really see photos of her just hanging out with girlfriends. It’s always about social climbing among rich men. I just think it’s so weird to be so cold and money focused ALL THE TIME. It must be exhausting.

Don’t blame her for wanting to cash in with her looks, especially when women often get traded in for a younger model. So I admire her for that I suppose, but she just comes across as really cold.

And no, not a fan of that new haircut.

  41. aurelia says:

Maybe she has narcissist personality disorder. 20% of the population has it. I know most of them. 😐
