Matt Damon’s wife, Luciana, does not always wear low cut dresses, but when she does she can look amazing. She’s usually in something by designer Naeem Khan but last night she was in a strapless cobalt blue Versace gown featuring metallic contrast striping. Sadly this looks like ice skater fug. The bottom half of the dress is decent and it fits her perfectly.
Damon was nominated for best actor, which went to Leonardo DiCaprio for his tortured performance in The Revenant. Damon knows that DiCaprio will continue to dominate this awards season but he’s playing the long game. He’s schmoozing and making jokes and doing this for his career. He’ll get another Oscar before long.
Dree Hemingway, Mariel Hemingway’s daughter, looked like a 70s throwback in full length red lace floral embroidered Erdem. Her styling was so severe that it gave this a “straight off the runway” look complete with theme makeup. It’s possible to appreciate a look as artful and yet acknowledge that it does nothing for the wearer. So I’m torn on this look because it’s so fug and yet so admirably bold. It’s like a car accident you can’t look away.
The usually lovely Laura Haddock did not bring it in this vintage tiered feather Givenchy Haute Couture gown from 1967. Haddock is married to Sam Claflin (The Hunger Games: Mockingjay) and they just welcomed their first child last month. There’s a bonus pic of them at a pre-BAFTAs party below. At least she probably wasn’t cold.
Also in black is Rebel Wilson in a Marina Rinaldi jacket and custom skirt (thanks to JustJared for that description). She has been bringing it during the How to Be Single tour so this is a rare misstep for her. Maybe the mullet skirt is throwing it off.

dree’s dress is erdem (pre fall 2016), not gucci. she worse gucci at the pre bafta party the night before. and i like it, she looks amazing because she’s tall so she’s a good fit for this dress. the only issue is that i don’t think this shade of red works with her colouring, and the lipstick is too dark for the dress. still, she looks stunning.
i can’t with anyone saying damon’s wife looks good in that dress. it’s a nice colour, but the glitter looks tacky, and it’s also way too tight for her.
rebel was the best thing of the night, not so much her dress, but when she was presenting she was very funny.
Ok I’ll fix the ID on Dree thanks for that. I really thought Rebel’s jokes were bad, I was disappointed in that bit.
Rebel’s offer to console the losers was very noble of her.
I thought Luciana looked A-mazing! Great color for her and she is insanely fit. I don’t endorse figure skater wear, I promise.

I thought the upper part was pretty, great color, hot look… then the bottom part is sticking to her like a pair of pants and the dress looks weird.
Agree. The top wasnt to my taste but looked good on her and she has a great figure but the bottom or the whole look didn’t really work. I know there is no law about make up and some people don’t enjoy wearing it, I think she looks a bit washed away.

You made me take second look :). I do agree that the bottom half of the dress is too tight at her abdomen and it clings in a “pants-like” way to her upper thighs.
IDK, maybe I just appreciate a “normal” attempting this look. She didn’t cop out with basic black.

I think the top part is too tight, her posture is even off. Maybe she always stands like that but it seems to me something about that fitting is making her curl her shoulders forward like that.
Luciana looked fantastic. Now that is how a gown is supposed to fit, after seeing some of these ill-fitting gowns this season. I love the color on her also.
Not a fan of Luciana’s dress. Too tight, bright and tacky looking. She does, however remind me of Julia Louis-Dreyfuss here, I’ve never seen the resemblance before.

I just can’t look at Damon the same after he started airing his opinions instead of just doing silly talk shows like he used to… same with Meryl Streep. How many more of those we put on a pedestal cause they seem cool and friendly are complete idiots and we just don’t know?
She looks bad. Not because of the low neckline, but the fabric, colour and sparkles make it look like a bad beauty queen dress.
I kinda like Laura’s dress. I love me a long sleeved, high neck, black dress, even if it has feathers.

She is a model (or at least was), but her career didn’t exacly take off. Nepotism will open the door for you in fashion, but once you’re in you’re just as disposable and interchangeable as the rest. That’s why I’m not so hard on Kendall Jenner.

Dree’s dress would probably look better on someone else. That’s a bold, odd dress. Dree’s look is safe, ordinary and boring. It just doesn’t match.
no, i don’t agree. i googled dree and she has made some very interesting choices in terms of fashion, i wouldn’t say her style is boring. she has an understated street look (jeans & t shirt), but on the red carpet she always wear something interesting. for me boring is people always wearing a variation of the same dress, like kate winslet, who looks good in what she wears, but it’s always the same.

On a Damon-related note, what I really want to know is why no CB recap of the news that Ben and Jen took a private plane vaca with the kids this weekend. I mean, what is the readout on that one? Do you really take that many vacations together “for the kids”?
