Kacey Musgraves was one of my favorite looks of the night. She was in this incredible purple and blue ombre Armani Prive tiered gown. On camera this looked incredible but in photos I don’t like it as much. Musgraves’s makeup was flawless. Her eyeshadow and lipstick complemented her dress without looking too matchy. Matte colors were big last night, which makes me think I need to switch up my makeup.
Musgraves was up for best country album, which went to Chris Stapleton. He’s been winning everything lately. Cam presented that category along with Gary Sinise. (If you’re not familiar with her, she’s a country singer and her big hit is Burning House.) From what I can find, she always has this short curly kind of throwback hair. It’s very Betty Boop. She was in a canary yellow Georges Chakra gown with a long gathered train. I thought the bottom of this dress was striking but the bodice didn’t fit right somehow.
Ashley Monroe was nominated in the best country album and in the best country duo categories, for her song Lonely Tonight with Blake Shelton. She was in a too big blue Georges Hobeika gown which looked straight out of the 70s and did nothing for her. It emphasizes her clavicle. She paired it with wavy hair and overdone eyes.
Faith Evans was in a formfitting v-neck white Stello gown which she accessorized with a black fur-look scarf. (I can’t confirm whether it’s real fur, regardless it was fug.) I get that she’s trying to break the lines up on her dress but that could have been accomplished with a better dress. This dress looked see-through in some photos. Faith was up for R&B performance, which went to Lalah Hathaway.
Here are bonus pics of Kacey’s after party look. She’s wearing a dress with a built in dickie, cutout shoulders, stripes and sequins. At least she didn’t wear this to the Grammys.

Kacey is a great country song writer for her age and her song “follow your arrow” is so funny….she’s so good Miranda Lambert snatched some lyrics for one of her hits, smthg about their mommas’ broken achey breaky heart. This Cam chick is a joke, they are trying so hard for her to happen here in Nashville, that darned song of the burning house is the most annoying, stupid, try hard country song ever. I flip to a different station whenever they play that junk. Ugh…and Kelsey Balerini (if that’s how you spell her name) sounds like the Ke$ha of country. She started strong with “love me like you mean it” and now she is such a watered down version of the real Ke$ha…really weak when it comes to country female singers, gone are the days or Reba, Dolly, Patsy and hell even Shania was awesome…we need new fresh country female talent, it is so darned hard to come by. Miranda’s ok i guess but we need new country blood. Wish Little big town got more attention, their lead siger has a great voice…
I love Kacey. She’s my fave girl in country these days. She’s witty, she’s fun and she is adorable.
Cam’s ‘Untamed’ album is amazing! Burning House is not even the best song on it. She means business and I think she’s going to be around for a really long time. I’d give more than Burning House a try you may be pleasantly surprised because like you I feel like female country needs some new blood besides blonde tarts who look like Barbie dolls.
Kelsea Ballerini, I CANNOT stand her. She is terrible. I call her Kel-SEE-A Ballerina. I just can’t with her.
Miranda is okay but I find a lot of her albums contain good songs and then a lot of filler.

Kacey’s dress was definitely one of my favourites for the night.
I like the dress, but her makeup was bad. The lipstick looked ashy and averdrawn and it all was just overdone.
I’m not that familiar with country music, but I really like Kacey. The themes she sings about are quite deifferent om the usual country stuff.

Oh dear, Ashley Monroe’s dress – direct to you from the Lawrence Welk Show costume dept. She should have had her hair in a bouffant though.
Sternum, not clavicle. Hers looks almost concave. At least there aren’t giant mammaries bulging out as well.
I love Ashely Monroe but her hair colour drives me nuts. It’s always so unfortunate and is it just me or is she starting to look a little bobble heady?
