Gwen Stefani & Blake cover People: ‘How can it not be meant-to-be?’

Another day, another story about hot new couple Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton. The story of how “Gwake” or “Blen” came to be is covered in this week’s issue of People Magazine, hitting newsstands on Friday. A source close to Gwen told the magazine that she was taking her divorce hard and wasn’t sure she would meet someone who would want to date a single mom with three boys. (Kingston, 9, Zuma, 7, and Apollo, two.) Enter Blake, who has embraced her family. Of course an engagement could be coming soon:

Gwen took her divorce hard
The divorce [from Bush singer Gavin Rossdale] was hard on Gwen. Here she was, a single mom with three kids. She was questioning if she would ever meet someone who would accept her boys. [She was] heartbroken for her children that the marriage wasn’t going to work. Then came this ray of sunshine who made her smile, and he had no hesitation when it came to her kids.

Gwen’s boys love Blake
On the weekends, it’s all about family fun. They take Gwen’s boys to the movies or to the park. Blake is playful and goofy, and the boys love him. Getting to know each other’s families was a moment their relationship evolved to the next level.

On spending time with Blake in Oklahoma
[Gwen] is learning to rough it in Oklahoma. She lives in Beverly Hills and takes time with her image, but she’s also just a regular gal. She immediately fell in love with the town.

How they helped each other heal
Both of them share a passion for music and have been in the studio. He’s taught her a lot and she’s grown immensely. It takes a while to heal, but she’s on the path. [Blake] is very happy and healthy these days. He would not have gone through this if he had the chance, but now that he has, he just believes in moving on.

On if Gwen and Blake will get engaged
There is a long-term future for them, but they’re taking it day by day and not putting pressure on themselves. They seem too perfect for each other for it to just be fluke. For now, they seem happy with their relationship, but Blake is old-fashioned and a future engagement seems very possible. Gwen thinks of him as the biggest blessing, and it’s all worked out perfectly. How can it not be meant-to-be?

Okay, I will admit I did get a little swoony when I saw how Blake was looking at Gwen in the picture Gwen posted on Instagram from Sunday’s Vanity Fair Oscars party. (I still don’t like that dress though.) I don’t think he’s capable of “faking it,” the boy is in love. And, we already know Gwen is, so I wish them the best. But, for Pete’s sake, they shouldn’t rush into marriage (says the twice-divorced woman, whose second marriage happened pretty quickly). Just offering some friendly advice.

Oh Honey This Thirst from grown adults… it’s Unseeming

  2. Nicki says:

    Still don’t believe it’s real

    • magpie says:

That’s what I think too, but I can’t believe he’s such a good actor either.

  3. MyHiddles says:

Classic country song: Country boy wins city girl.

  4. aims says:

Anytime a celebrity couple brags about their relationship, they’ve just given it the kiss of death.

    • DragonWise says:

It’s cool. If they get married and it doesn’t work out, Gwen is rich enough to afford Laura Wasser 😉

  5. TessD says:

“wasn’t sure she would meet someone who would want to date a single mom with three boys” – who also looks like she is 28 y.o., has millions in the bank and her own successful career? Come on girl!

  6. daisyfly says:

Two divorcees rebounding with each other shortly after separating from their spouses with rumors of adultery flying willy nilly (emphasis on the willy).

    What could possibly go wrong?

  7. mia girl says:

Not specific to these two, but generally I love those professional staged photos from the Vanity Fair Oscar party each year. Thanks for reminding me… off too look for more.

  8. Locke Lamora says:

    Yuck.

  9. Teebee says:

The bloom on this relationship is typical. Burns hot at the beginning, but as soon as the novelty wears off they’ll be left with their high maintenance selves arguing about why ya’ll don’t take me to the airport no more. I guess they should enjoy it while it lasts, but in no way should they be contemplating marriage. Lookit that, celebs mistaking a lusty rebound as true love… Countdown to headline “Gwen burned again!” In 3, 2, 1…

  10. Nancy says:

Singularly they were tolerable, well him not so much, but I liked Gwen from back in the day. Together they are like a page out of Mad Magazine. I’m guessing Miranda Lambert has refilled her prescription of tranquilizers.

  11. Sonya says:

I don’t know. When Nicole Ritchie and Madden got together I just felt excited – like it would work. lol These two feel the same way. I might be a sucker, but I am hopeful for them. I actually know a couple who went this route and they are happily married 12 years later when we all were like, “Whoa, slow down, don’t get yourself hurt again!” It works every once in awhile…

  12. Tiffany says:

This got the cover over The Oscars. Okay then.

  13. roses says:

Not understanding why she allowed them to publish this. Hope for their sake this ends well because if not they only have themselves to blame. Guess some people never learn.

  14. Beckysuz says:

Smart photographer at the VF party. Hid Blake’s jeans

  15. Ginger says:

Divorcee here. Married for the second time. Take it sloooooow. And all the best!

  16. Bobafelty says:

Lol, let me count the ways

  17. lucy2 says:

“Untold”? These two have been all over the place as soon as they got together, and haven’t shut up about it.
It seems like such an obvious rebound/PR thing, but I’m still amazed how hard they’re selling it. But I guess a People mag cover helps when promoting a new album too…

  18. Tacos and TV says:

She looks fantastic in that dress. i can’t get over it. I want that dress. I like it, but then again, I’m a little tacky so maybe that’s why?? Not sure, but I want it 🙂 Also, she is looking so fit. Makes me want to go to the gym. Hahaha

  19. Alex says:

She is not a single mom. She is a single woman, who is a mom. This relationship is so thirsty, it’s incredibly embarrassing.

  20. alihar999 says:

Saw Pharrell on the Today show this morning. When asked about them…..you could tell he thinks they are something serious. Just the way he commented. You could also tell that he really likes them together and is very happy for both of them.

  21. J-Who says:

How could it NOT be meant-to-be? Well, for one thing, God doesn’t “bring” you someone else’s spouse and you know these two were hooking up before the divorce, so mmm-hmmm.

  22. Jayna says:

I’ve said all along that Blake is head over heels for Gwen. I have to say I would have expected him to go with a much younger country ingenue, instead of someone seven years older and with three little ones. I liked seeing that in Blake, because he’s not just dating a woman. He’s dating a family, really.

And Miranda has praised him as a husband recently when talking about what she looks for in her next relationship. I can’t remember what she said, but it was flattering. I don’t know what went down for those two, but I think it was Blake that was more brokenhearted than her.

  23. Dirty Martini says:

Fully admit it……I loved him and ML together. Was broken hearted at their demise and would like to know what really happened there. He is a hunk……with a great sense of humor. Something about him and GS seem off to me. She’s a little too cosmopolitan ….just doesn’t seem to fit. But no denying the looks he’s giving, so ok….wish them the best.

  24. Kat says:

Gwen is a small town girl, ultimately. She has always been a one guy girl, never out “kittening around”. She also has never looked so happy. He looks happy too! He loves her, it looks to me. He’s a small town guy as well. They are perfect. I hope they have both found true lov.e

  25. BadAssCompass says:

her style is going up in flames slowly, that’s all I have about this pairing as I don’t watch their show and have stopped listening to her increasingly whiny music. She should lay off her face asap, because it’s no longer looking 28 and she’s way too skinny.
