Faith Hill is fine with aging, will ‘run miles for a fried pork chop’

Faith Hill is Redbook’s cover girl for May, and she’s talking about aging in the interview. Unlike Brooke Shields’ interview in More Magazine, Faith doesn’t come across as complaining. But that is perhaps because I’ve always adored Faith Hill – she’s always struck me as very authentic, a classy Southern girl who doesn’t take crap from anyone.

In Redbook (story via US Magazine), Faith says that “beauty has a lot to do with comfort and being around my family”. She says she doesn’t wear that much make-up in her everyday life, and that as she’s paying more attention to what she can and can’t eat as she ages. But true to her Southern roots, Faith claims she still loves her fried chicken and macaroni and cheese, but “Once a week I’ll cook a Southern comfort meal… it is truly comfort food… we will run miles for a fried pork chop!” Amen to that, sister.

faithinset2At 41 years old, Faith Hill has her priorities straight.

The singer has finally learned how to balance her career, her family — she and her country legend husband, Tim McGraw, have three daughters, Gracie, 12, Maggie, 10, and Audrey, 7 — and her post-40 body.

“I actually figured it all out last summer, and it all has to do with laziness!” Hill jokes in the May issue of Redbook (on newsstands April 28). “At the end of the day, for me beauty has a lot to do with comfort and being around my family — and most likely no makeup!”

The star, who admits that most days she only has time for a swipe of mascara and a touch of concealer, admits that she has her negative moments.

“I’m not saying I don’t look in the mirror and say, ‘That line wasn’t there yesterday,'” says the singer, who adds that she has wrinkles and has had lines on her neck since she was a child. “But I try not to focus on that. Taking better care of myself has helped a lot — there’s this quiet confidence that comes with it.”

And how does Hill — who transformed herself to look like three of her favorite blonde icons, Grace Kelly, Brigitte Bardot and Twiggy for the magazine — keep her body in such great shape?

“I was aging pretty well, but I wasn’t really committed to working out and eating right,” the country crooner confesses. “And it’s not that I diet now, but I’ve just become conscious of what I put into my body, because I know what I put in it is also going to show on the outside.”

The Mississippi native has also learned to enjoy her favorite foods — fried chicken and macaroni and cheese top her list — in moderation.

“I still do cook them, but not every night like I used to,” she says. “I try to stay with a lot more fresh fruits and vegetables… Once a week I’ll cook a Southern comfort meal, because that’s where Tim and I come from and it is truly comfort food. There’s nothing like it. I mean, I’m sorry, but we will run miles for a fried pork chop!”

The star says that once she stopped making excuses, it was her choice to stay healthy. “Once I saw the benefits of a healthier lifestyle, it just become so worth it to me, physically and psychologically,” she tells Redbook.

She adds: “As I get older, I’m learning much more about how to better take care of myself and the things that do and don’t work for me.”

From US Magazine

You can take the girl out of the South, but you can never take the South out of the girl. I think Faith has the best response to aging – just relax and let it happen. Take care of yourself when possible, but don’t freak out over wrinkles or gray hairs or whatever else comes your way. It’s about the little things – I remember how stunned I was when I noticed an improvement in my health, figure, skin and general well-being when I just started drinking a lot of water. Of course, Faith is helped along by great genes – in the pictures from Redbook, she looks perfect as a young Grace Kelly. Amazing!

If she is feeling so good about herself, why does she allow Tim McGraw to push her around? There’s a reason why this is coming out right now…

  2. Wonder Woman says:

omg she looks so much like twiggy there, this women is gorgeous!

  3. lilred says:

KDRockstar, where does it say anywhere that she lets Tim push her around? Did I miss something?

  4. Annie says:

It doesn’t hurt that she’s absolutely stunning no matter what.

My sister and I used to work at Disneyland and saw her and Tim (SO HOT) there a couple years back. And she was in jeans, tshirt, and a baseball cap with sunglasses and was STILL gorgeous.

    I <3 Faith and Tim.

  5. Zoe (The Other One) says:

That is one beautiful woman. She could wear a sack and still look stunning.

  6. Patrice says:

I love Faith, but aging naturally is just something that she, like all Hollywood woman just is NOT doing. Women in their forties do not, under any circumsyances have the smooth, unwrinkled skin of twenty year olds unless they are doing SOMETHING. However, to her credit, many of these woman do not consider botox “work”. Perhaps that’s what she means when she claims to be untouched by a surgeon’s hands.

  7. Tia C says:

I’m 41 and I don’t have any wrinkles or crow’s feet or anything. People always tell me they think I’m in my early 30s. I haven’t had any work done, or any botox. And she’s in much better health than me – she actually exercises, LOL. So it is possible.

  8. Annie says:

Same with my mom and she’s 47, soon to be 48.

People look at her, and then they see me and they cannot believe that she’s old enough to have a 23 year old daughter. She looks like she’s easily in her 30s. They think we’re sisters. (Which she is sooo delighted about *rolls eyes* We get it mom, you look young. Stop rustling your feathers.)

  9. C-DUB says:

I’ve always loved her!!! I wonder what her pork chops taste like? LOL!!

  10. Hieronymus Grexx says:

I like Faith Hill(born Audrey Faith Perry) don’t get me wrong. She’s the girl next door and pretty well down to earth. But musically, she’s become about as Country as the Notorious B.I.G.

  11. LaraX2009 says:

Running a few miles is probably the only way she allows herself a pork chop.

  12. Monica says:

KDRockStar, really, you should not make an inflammatory comment like that with no explanation or verifiable backup. You made a comment which was incomprehensible and lacked the substance necessary to explain the point your were trying to make.
I am not a big Faith Hill/Tim McGraw fan; but I am not a ‘hater’, and I, unfortunately, think you are. Lighten up and live your own life.

  13. Jessica says:

Ok, I just have to point out, there have been rumors regarding Tim & Faith’s relationship issues. If you follow gossip columns (sadly, I do…) you may have seen snippets. They’ve been the subject of at least one BI that I know of…The backstory is (and please do not think I am saying this is all hard facts, none of us know what goes on behind closed doors in these celebs lives, but I’m not going to waste my time using speculative terms, I’m just laying out the story as it is told):
Several years ago, they both had a coke problem. They got clean together, etc etc… Well, now he’s off the wagon in a major way (there was a big story back last year regarding him “rescuing” a fan-there was much speculation that this “rescue” was fueled by a powdery white substance; he’s also been observed as more manic than usual on stage, etc). She is not only holding true to staying clean, she has gone extremely conservative Christian (not that there is anything wrong with it, it’s supporting her ability to avoid addictions so great!) and she has been very sanctimonious regarding his issues. He’s responded with some physical violence on more than one occasion.
That’s probably what KDRockStar was referencing in the post.

  14. Amy says:

I like her, too, but why do we applaud stars for being “brave” by stating they occasionally eat mac and cheese? Who freaking cares?

  15. BEEBEEC says:

Liberal American hater! She posed for a picture of herself pointing the finger at George Bush’s picture on display while on Holiday at the WW2 memorial on Hawaii. She disgusts me.

  16. Hieronymus Grexx says:

Keep lying BEEBEEC, it’s the only way you can justify your outrage.
