Kendall Jenner scored her first-ever American Vogue cover: love it or hate it?

kendall vogue

If you’re anything like me, your first thought upon seeing this cover was, “Wait, I thought Rihanna was Vogue’s April cover girl?” It’s true – Rihanna is the April cover subject. But for the month of April, Vogue also did a “Special Edition.” Which is how Kendall Jenner got her first-ever American Vogue cover. To be fair, Anna Wintour likes the Jenner girls, and both Kendall and Kylie have been featured inside Vogue before. But you know Kendall in particular was really hoping for a cover. So was Gigi Hadid. And Kendall got there first!

You can see Kendall’s Mario Testino-shot editorial here. I actually sort of like it? It’s not a deep love, but she isn’t embarrassing herself, and several of the shots look like vintage Ali McGraw modeling photos, which I sort of enjoy. But some of the photos… it’s like there’s no real It Factor there. She’s a pretty young woman, but the whole package is kind of basic. As for the interview… it’s mostly famous people talking her up, and the conceit of the interview is Kendall being taken around to meet famous and successful people and asking for their advice. It’s not that she comes across as stupid, but she just comes across as… flavorless. Sort of an affected bland. Some highlights:

What Karl Lagerfeld says about her: “She is a very sweet person. Very caring and not at all spoiled by those superficial successes. I must say I love her.”

On the idea of going to college: “You talk to people and they say the reason they went to college was to get a job, but I already have a job, so …”

The first rule of having a successful social media profile: “So… it has to be organic.”

What she’s passionate about: “If you’re talking about the love thing. I could have done a lot of things, but I chose to be this baby businesswoman.”

The second rule of social media success: “You don’t want to do too many posts. You want to leave them wanting to come back: Mystery!”

The opportunity she’s been given: “I’m aware of the incredible opportunity I’ve been given by coming into this business. I mean, I’ve dreamed of being a part of this my whole life… Ten years from now, I can only hope to have harnessed all of this experience and opportunity into something impactful and meaningful. Either that, or maybe Carmelo can put in a good word with the Knicks for me, LOL.”

[From Vogue]

As I said, it’s sort of flavorless. But I do give her credit for something: she’s always been focused on modeling, and now that she’s here, she’s still focused on it. The gist of the story is that she’s not always looking for the next thing or the next project – she’s not going to try to act or be a pop star. She wants to be a major model and her own brand. And she’s almost there.

PS… I also give her credit for not messing with her face, quite honestly. In her family, the plastic surgeons and Botoxologists are on speed-dial, and Kendall looks so refreshing with her real face.

WTF has she done to her chin??
is it me or it looks different?
She obviously had lip fillers and a brow lift but the chin seems off too.
Compared to her monstruous sisters she looks ‘normal’ but she clearly had her fair share of surgery.

Karl Lagerfeld needs to retire, at this point he can only be defined as ‘Le Troll’. Coco is tossing and turning in her grave, I am sure.

    • tegteg says:

Yeah, Kaiser is being so generous! She’s DEFINITELY messed with her face over the years. Her lips have grown, I’ve never seen that happen to anyone. She just happens to be way more subtle about it than the rest of her family.

Also, her personality is not an “affected bland.” The girl is bland. She couldn’t not be bland if she tried.

      • SydneySnider says:

Spot on, tegteg. She’s as bland as a blancmange…

      • Sabrine says:

There’s nothing wrong with bland. If she was anything else she would be criticized to the skies. Why should she give everything away to the grasping public? It is much better to stay neutral and yes, “bland.” Also, doesn’t look like she’s had anything done, same face as always. I’m especially glad she left her nose alone. As for not being “overly bright”, her bank account speaks for itself.

      • swak says:

@sabine, I hope she has good people (accountants, et al) around her so she doesn’t invest her money unwisely and loses it.

      • JenYfromTheBlok says:

Kendall is the black hole of charisma with this one blandastic is a compliment

      • JudyK says:

Not only is she bland, but she literally has no depth–i.e., the reason for a college education. The entire interview was bland and shallow.

    • Tammy says:

She looks the same to me. Don’t know, maybe either I don’t care enough to notice or I don’t care lol.

    • Petee says:

I always said she looked like Ali McGraw. She was never one of my favorite models growing up.I am sorry,I do not think of her as a model at all. There is nothing interesting about her look. She is attractive but not striking.I can’t believe her family and connections bought her a career. Most young models really have to hustle and literally sleep on floors to get even a good book.Disgusting all the way around.

    • minx says:

Boring, boring. There is nothing in her eyes, no spark or intelligence.
The best models have that “it” and she doesn’t have it–and it has nothing to do with beauty.
      Very bland.

  2. Lex says:

Ok, but college is not just for getting a job. I guess the point is moot because you have to graduate from high school first before going to college and she hasn’t. She sounds so vapid.

She also gets tons of lip fillers, and I read that she had work done around her eyes, so it’s insane to me that people say her face is natural.

    • swak says:

Think she got her diploma as Kylie did. They were both “home schooled”. I’m not knocking all that are home schooled, but I doubt they were given any intensive home schooling.

    • Ellie says:

Right?! Lovely Kendall, you have a job as a model. For now. You’re also 20 years old. Let’s talk in 5-10 years. Not only does she seem bland and not as sweet as she wants us to think, but boy howdy she does NOT seem too bright.

      • teacakes says:

Yeah, at 20 it’s easy to be a model but at 30? We all know she’s no Gisele.

      • Daria Morgendorffer says:

In all reality, in 5 to 10 years, this family will likely still be famous and even if they aren’t, they’re all making so much money right now that I’m sure she’ll be fine financially. It isn’t as if modeling is her gravy train and she’s going to end up broke and desperate when it falls through.

Kendall is the most inarticulate of all the sisters in this family, and that is saying a lot. I saw an interview with her and she just talks in circles because she can’t seem to find the words to express herself. She is worse than Kim and Kylie put together, which is mind-blowing.

I’m a firm believer that education is not for everyone–I see nothing wrong with someone wanting to become a mechanic, or some other profession that requires training but not a degree. It is a personal choice. At the same time, in today’s world, it is becoming increasingly difficult to have stable employment without a degree, but the Kardashian/Jenner experience is much different from the one we experience in the real world.

What puzzles me is how incredibly hostile this family is toward education. I saw an interview with Kylie and Kim, and Kylie said she wouldn’t be attending college and Kim stopped what she was doing and said “Good girl!” They view college as a waste of time because they value fame and money above all else.

    • Greenieweenie says:

Oh God. I’m so tired of people who haven’t gone to college telling us what college is for. It’s like this 1950s working class attitude into which the idea of a liberal arts education has yet to penetrate.

    • Bettyrose says:

Didn’t Lindsay say something similar back in her heyday? “College is for finding yourself and I already know who I am.” Worked out great for her.

    • Elizabeth Beachwood says:

So vapid. People go to college to get an EDUCATION. I know the Kardashians don’t value intellectualism, but good grief! I don’t understand why people feel compelled to interview these women. They never have anything interesting to contribute.

    • Jwoolman says:

Lex- that was my first thought, too. She’s been talking to the wrong people if she thinks further education is just for getting a job. It’s not even a guarantee of a job or one that requires a degree. But she would have benefitted from the whole universe of options it would have opened up to her and the opportunity to really get away from her family for a few years and hang out with people obsessed with something besides their appearance. She thinks modeling is her passion because that’s all she knows about. She grew up in front of cameras. She will never know all the other things she could be doing that might be more fulfilling for her and more long-term. Her life is far more restricted than she realizes. Rich people who don’t have to worry about employment traditionally make sure their offspring are well educated for a reason. Her parents didn’t even care enough to let her complete high school in a way that would have at least kept her options more open and might have kept her thinking about college as a possibility.

  3. BengalCat2000 says:

There are many other reasons to go to college other than getting a job, you bland, insipid girl!

    Coffee, I NEED….

    • paolanqar says:

Honestly, coming from that family.. she is the big achiever with a real job. The others couldn’t even manage to do that.

      • Izzy says:

Being a model isn’t an achievement. It’s a mixture of genetics and nepotism. Long hours but who would pass that up if it gets you a house and enviable lifestyle at such a young age. Especially when millennials are considered lucky to get a minimum age job or unpaid internship.

    • robynsing says:

It’s like calling oatmeal the tastiest breakfast food…it’s meh. Vogue falls even further downhill. They actually printed “64MIL Followers” They really perpetuated that lie–the manufactured K-trash followers.

      • Dee says:

Sigh…she’s one of the rich kids who sees a job as more of a hobbie, but also lacks the intellect to hold a conversation about history, science, or … anything? There’s nothing admirable or smart about being given a “career” that only generates and guarantees that you’ll be able to continue an overprivelaged lifestyle.

Money’s good, but not so much the people who only live for it.

  4. Kimbers says:

It’s not a bad cover or shoot. It just doesn’t have that “it” factor. Her energy isn’t there.

The whole “baby business woman” comment diminishes her as a business woman. To all newly made business women(young&old) out there: never say that about yourself-it’so not cute and you’re really just putting yourself down and don’t yet realize it.

    • Trixie says:

I know, right. It’s saying: “I’m not a real businesswoman. I don’t take myself seriously, so neither should you.”

      • Kitten says:

Women who grow up as privileged as she has really don’t have to worry about being taken seriously though. That’s a worry for the rest of us plebs.

    • robynsing says:

It reminds me of Romie and Michelle’s High School Reunion…”We’re Business Women”. Who actually calls themselves that? If you actually invented post-its, you’d call yourself an inventor or scientist. Women call themselves attorneys and CEOs or VPs or Directors or Administrators. etc. Not “business woman” She’s a model who has to bank and reconcile it like the rest of the world.

  5. Oli says:

Do you guys smell that? Yep I knew it, nepotism, normally all the kids these days in Hollywood reek of it.

Also what happens when her “job” doesn’t workout, she’s stupid, I know college isn’t for everybody but how far are the Kardashians up their own butts that they don’t realize they peole dont like them anymore, if anyone needs a back up plan in life it’s the Kardashians.

    • milietan says:

IKR?? It’s like this is the age of nepotism. It seems like most of the high profile models these days have super famous parents. She’s obviously a beautiful girl, but she doesn’t have that special magnetism that most Vogue models do.

    • Lizzie McGuire says:

Wait I’m curious so does it really count as a Vogue cover because Rihanna is the main April Vogue issue. So has she really scored her “first” Vogue? Plus it’s only being released in LA & NY according to Vogue.

    • Josefina says:

Kardashian posts always get plenty of comments. The Kardashians dont have to be liked for their schtick to work. They just have to remain attractive.

You can complain about their antics, but be aware you’re only making more cash for them.

      • swak says:

How by commenting about them do the Kardashians make more cash? I doubt they are being paid by the comment.

      • Josefina says:

        @swak
Of course they are not paid per comment, but comments and clicks keep them relevant.

Kardashians don’t have albums or movies to sell. Their reality show? It has a fixed audience – they are not likely to get more viewers by going around promoting it.

Kardashians live off this. Gossip. Selling their stories to media outlets. You don’t have to like them for that – you just have to click on the story, and comment if you may, to show you’re interested. Every single person who opened this thread is a Kardashian Konsumer.

      • crtb says:

        @ swak
if no one commented on the K post, they would stop printing them. Every time we make a comment, it shows interest. That determines who they write articles about and who they ignore. The more comments the more stories about them. Sorta like ratings, you watch the show they keep it on the air.

  6. Jenns says:

I like the pictures because she looks her age. Usually the Kardashian girls have so much make up on it ages them 10 years.

    • Pix says:

I agree – she looks natural and great. Let’s not get this twisted – this is a cover targeted to teenagers and women in their early 20’s. I haven’t picked up a copy of Vogue since I was 22-24 years old.

  7. Nev says:

Major move. A whole issue dedicated to her?!!! Wow. Go Kendall!!!

  8. GoodNamesAllTaken says:

I thought it was pretty bad. She looks so forced, not natural at all. And her attitude about education is just revolting to me, and shows how ignorant she is. People go to college to get a job, yes, but some people actually value learning. And duh, I already gots me a job…modeling. Because that will last forever. Ugh.

    • swak says:

I always wished I could be a professional student and be able to study a variety of fields.

      • SamiHami says:

That’s my retirement dream. Just take a zillion classes and learn every oddball, out there thing I’ve had an interest in.

      • Jen43 says:

That is my dream as well. I jokingly tell my kids that I’m going to follow them to college. The truth is that if it weren’t creepyand expensive, I would probably do it.

      • SydneySnider says:

Have you guys heard of this site?

        https://www.futurelearn.com/courses/upcoming

There’s lots of interesting topics to learn – from universities and colleges from around the world. I can’t wait to get stuck into some of the courses.

      • swak says:

@samihami & jen43, unfortunately I’m “retired” and have no time for classes. Maybe in a couple years when the last one is in school (I have 10) I’ll be able to take a class during the day! @SydneySnider, will have to look at the site later – thanks.

      • susanne says:

swak, sounds like you are still working full time! Brava, especially after reading all about Willnot.

    • Tammy says:

Her attitude about education is a reflection of how she was raised… I am not sure what anyone really expects.

  9. Sarah01 says:

To me she is stunning I think her kardashian / Jenner family actually works against her. They could have put her in any ensembles and they chose this?
Would have loved to have seen her in some spring colours maybe even a pretty dress. I think Anna was not happy and it shows. She has a beautiful smile.

    • Kitten says:

ITA. I personally think she’s gorgeous but these photos are truly awful.

    • Angelica says:

I agree, she’s beautiful. And I like the cover. Her face radiates, but I’m meh on the styling.

I don’t get the hate for Kendall. I get that folks are tired of her family and they’re famous for nothing and the nepotism part, but she’s the least embarrassing of the lot. I like that she mentions to Kylie how much of a waste it is to live thru her phone. I like that she smiles in her photos, instead of that stupid, “meet me in the bedroom” face the others make. I like that she mentions having a fulfilling life. Idk, I guess I’m an optimist because I don’t think she’s as narcissistic as the others and she doesn’t bother me at all.

    • Lady D says:

That top she is wearing is over $1400.

  10. swak says:

So much “success” for some of these people are based on the number of their followers on social media. I wonder how much work any of them would get if they did not have the massive number of followers on social media. She’s pretty but I still don’t see the “it” factor that others see in her.

    • Beckysuz says:

Uh don’t most of these celebrities with huge amounts of IG followers buy them? Even if being Internet famous was an actual accomplishment( heads up it isn’t), isn’t it even less so when you have to buy followers?

  11. PHD Gossip says:

She definitely had her nose tweaked.

  12. Jen43 says:

I’ve really tried, but I can’t find anything special about her. She wouldn’t have that cover if it weren’t for her last name.

  13. Tash says:

    Cute, yet so incredibly boring.

  14. NewWester says:

I hope one day someone writes a book on how the Kardashian/Jenner family has basically taken over pop culture. I swear Demon Mother sold her soul to her bff Lucifer or she has some serious dirt on powerful people. I just don’t get it

  15. Carolyn says:

Most people I know went to college so they could get a job. I know it’s a place where we go and grow up and all that, but if I could have gotten a job immediately out of high school and make a significant amount of money without having to go to college and grad school, I would have done it in a heartbeat. She doesn’t have an “it” factor, but it is what it is.

    • swak says:

I know many people who went to work out of high school and became very successful without any type of college education. And just because you go to college and grad school, does not mean you will make a significant amount of money. It depends on the field you go into and where on the totem pole you get to start.

      • SamiHami says:

True. I graduated Summa Cum Laude and make less than my 26 year old niece, who has no college. Part of it is her-she is very smart and motivated-and part of it is luck, by getting in with the right company. Just last week she was promoted into a management position. If it were anyone else I’d be jealous, but she’s my niece so I’m just so proud of her!

      • word says:

I have a cousin who didn’t go to college. His father put him down, called him a loser. My cousin got an entry level job, worked hard, moved up. He know owns that company and many others. He is a multi-millionaire and is now his father’s pride and joy lol. I am proud of him too. I do think an education is still important though but it’s not always necessary. Luck also plays a huge part in it. My cousin has a really good personality, knows how to mix in with any crowd, and is very humble. He deserves every bit of success he has.

      • swak says:

@word, I agree an education is important. My best friend started and entry level at a accounting firm doing data entry. By time she left she was the head of her dept. But I dislike the generic, you need a college degree to get a decent job (I am a retired teacher and it took me 2 masters degrees and an extra 15 hours to get a halfway decent salary) and to make money. My daughter also holds a degree in social work and she doesn’t work in the field Congrats to your cousin!

  16. Jenni says:

She is so mediocre looking girl. She is an epitome of nepotism. Without her last name she would be nothing. The same thing with the Hadid girls.

  17. teacakes says:

She’s just so bland in pictures, it’s like there’s nothing behind the eyes there. Mariacarla Boscono or even Karlie at the same age would wipe the floor with her.

But let’s be real, she only books these jobs because of her social media followers (which come from that trashy show), not because she takes good pictures. And she has a natural-looking face, but it certainly is not actually natural. There’s been a nose job and as of last year, at least some botox at work there.

  18. Bishg says:

She just doesn’t stand out. I am sorry. I don’t mean to be mean (ha!) because, even though I despise the KK Klan as a concept so much, I don’t care enough to be angry/mad.
Kendall is a good-looking girl, but she is no model material.
Yes, she’s thin and tall, but that’s about it.
Her looks are not unique and neither is her personality. She’s just incapable to transmit the tiniest emotion. She looks the same in every photo-shoot/show/ad. I would say a wooden mannequin would pretty much do the same job. Ok, this ended up sounding a bit harsh.
    #sorrynotsorry

  19. Pepper says:

She just doesn’t have any It Factor. She’s a very pretty girl, she has the right shape, she’s a decent enough catwalk model when she’s just one of the crowd, but every editorial she does looks like it belongs in a mid-range catalogue.

  20. Crumpet says:

She is cute enough, but she doesn’t have IT.

  21. Squiggisbig says:

Did anyone else watch america’s next top model way back when?

A common criticism the judges would make that was basically an indication that a girl was going to get cut was that she was “too commercial.” …which Kendall, to me, fits to a T. Very pretty girl but no “it” factor but can’t knock her connections

  22. lisa2 says:

This doesn’t look like Vogue.. it should have been Teen Vogue.. Nothing adult about the shoot. I actually like her of all the family. I think she is very pretty and has the physical look that her sisters so desperately want and don’t.

but the cover and inside spread are not memorable and none of the pictures are special. It looks like they did it on the Cheap. Which sucks when you finally get that Big Cover

  23. Magnoliarose says:

This girl gives me the sighs. Her photos always fall flat and lack energy and appeal. She doesn’t have it and you just know Mario Testino had to take loads of shots to get even these.
The best models don’t need many frames to get the money shot. I think it was Kate Moss who was said to be able to nail it in under 5 frames most of the time.
Even her interview answers are boring and it shows why she lacks because there is nothing vaguely interesting going on upstairs. Maybe if she had been adequately educated she wouldn’t seem so lifeless and incurious.
Gap model or Abercombie or something but not high fashion.
Karl is becoming like the athlete that doesn’t know when to leave the game.

  24. kri says:

Vapid and clueless. She’s pretty and has a lovely figure, but she doesn’t have a high fashion look at all. Nothing interesting. but that cover gives you the real reason she is there at all. Numbers. “Followers”. Not a word about her skills as a model.

  25. Charlotte15 says:

What has happened to that magazine?!

  26. AlmondJoy says:

I feel very meh about her. I don’t like or dislike her and I don’t feel anything when I see her pics. They don’t make me say wow but they’re also not the worst either. She’s pretty just not very striking.

  27. Loo says:

I like how people on here are knocking her for supposedly having plastic surgery (if she did it’s the good kind because she looks pretty natural) as if other models before her didn’t get tweaks. Gisele Bundchen is probably the most successful mode,l if money is anything to go by, and she had an obvious nose job.

I don’t get why people are so concerned with people’s whose careers are partially based on looks getting plastic surgery. Getting plastic surgery does not make you evil. The only issue I have is when people take it overboard but only because too much of it makes one look bad.

    • ciera says:

I’m not knocking her for having plastic surgery, but Kaiser is giving her credit where credit is not due. Kendull HAS messed around with her face–she has had fillers and her nose has definitely been done…those are the things I think are obvious and can’t be denied.

ITA that plastic surgery isn’t evil, and even If I think someone has gone overboard it really doesn’t bother me personally. What gets me is when people…especially the KTrash/Jenners, openly lie and pretend they have never had work done. It’s all the denying and fronting that I think can be harmful and sets an unrealistic standard of beauty. It’s fine Kendall had some tweaking, now at least cop up to it and don’t pretend you were born with a face that is cover ready for high fashion modeling. Let young girls know that perfection these days (or at least our society’s idea of it) is nearly impossible to naturally attain without at least a little cosmetic surgical assist. Tweens should be aware that you can get a nice butt if you eat well and go to the gym, but they will never get a monster mega-ass (which have become cartoonish at this point) like Kim or Khloe, because nature didn’t give them those rear ends, a plastic surgeon did. Ffs, a plastic surgeon gave most of that family new faces and enhanced body parts. Again , NBD…just stop lying and own it!

    • Tris says:

Loo, I think that this issue is not whether or not a celebrity has had plastic surgery (of course they have, they all have). But rather that a young pretty girl should feel empowered to enjoy her natural beauty.
In a world where any piece of gutter trash can transform themselves with new money into a model of plastic perfection, it is more interesting to celebrate flaws. I would have thought Vogue would agree. Clearly not.

  28. Alex says:

YAWN my first thought was that this cover is so basic. The profile is basic as are the photos. Boring which is very Kendall.
Anyways Vogue is no longer a must have for me. I pick it up when a legit model is on the cover or someone like Adele or JLaw are on the cover (those were the most recent Vogues I’ve purchased). Otherwise its a pass

  29. Joni says:

This is not an actual cover, it’s some special edition that will come with the April issue with Rih on the cover.

  30. dawn says:

Well I heard that this cover would only be seen in LA and NYC. As for Kendall I think she looks like many other college aged girls in the States but not unforgettable like other models have been. Goodness people still talk about Gia who has been dead for a very long time I don’t believe that will happen with Kendall. I think she has had her lips filled, not as big as her sisters but still. I don’t think that corporations get what they think they are getting when they use a KarTrashian or Jenner. People seem to be just so tired of all of them. Only the media has not caught up yet.

  31. Tammy says:

I’m curious… what is the IT factor since so many people here commenting saying she doesn’t have it… whatever it is.

She’s a model… are the photos suppose to inspire me? Is that what the IT factor supposed to be. Models are just….pretty looking people getting paid to do nothing.

    • FingerBinger says:

The It factor is a unique look. Something that stands out. Helena Christensen ,Naomi Campbell and Cindy Crawford all had it. There was nobody who looked like they did. Kendall Jenner looks like every model on the run-way. There’s nothing about her that sets her apart from other models.

      • Whatwhatnot says:

Personally, I didn’t think Helena Christiansen was all that (she does have gorgeous eyes, but the rest of her was meh) Naomi wasn’t all that to me either but then again I was always a big Iman stan and probably always subconsciously compared them. Cindy was basic to me as well. Linda Evangelista however… That woman HAD. IT. She rocked everything they ever put her in and could make anything look edgy. i still find myself going back to look at her pics and drool. Also, for what it’s worth, Janice Dickinson in her heyday was extremely beautiful and firece.

      • Sharkeee says:

Those are the greats. I would say Karlie Kloss is an example of the current batch of models with “it” factor. She’s one of the few supermodels right now who was discovered and made it 100% because of her “it” factor, no famous family pulling strings.

      • Tammy says:

I don’t know… models all look alike to me in that they are beautiful, skinny and tall people (Kate Moss being the exception) living a lifestyle I will never see. Plus, I stopped looking at models as they were something to aspire to after I came dangerously close to developing an eating disorder.

Before some asks about plus size models… I am almost 45.. when I was in my teens and 20’s, plus size models were unheard of. I think Emme was the first one I ever heard about I was probably in my 30’s by then or it seems like that.

It’s like I said.. are models supposed to inspire me? I mean, not be a jerk, or anything I just don’t get this IT talk. They are models.. all of them are pretty boring to me.

    • Kitten says:

I could not agree with you more, Tammy. I always feel left out on these threads when people talk about their favorite models or how ___ model is better than ___ model because they ____ more etc etc.

Models are pretty people and pretty people are pretty..
      *shrugs*

    • Kimbers says:

Some people can’t place a word on the thing that makes some people a star, model ,whatever. They just have “it”. That essence that draws you in. The energy about someone?Britney Spears wasn’t crazy talented but she had”it” for example. Kate Moss tiny gal,but she had “it”.

The Jenner chick doesn’t have ” it ” means you could easily forget her image. She doesn’t captivate in pictures and for a model, especially an aspiring supermodel, it’s kinda a must. She just doesn’t have that needed essence, attitude, energy… “it”

  32. Susan says:

Kendell is just big and clunky.

  33. NeoCleo says:

She’s a beautiful woman and she photographs well but there just seems to be an “it” factor missing. I’m sure she’ll have a successful career because she’s so connected but there are many young women out there with more talent and in possession of the “it” factor.

I feel the same way about the Hadid sisters–okay, but not gonna light the town on fire.

  34. Nancy says:

She’s delusional about her key to social media success: Don’t post too much, keep us guessing to come back. Lol. I don’t think her step sister goes to the toilet without posting about it. Ridiculous. Do they read back their interviews? Her modeling may outlive the series, but Kylie’s won’t. She probably can’t remember a time in her life that she didn’t have cameras in the living room. She will marry some rapper, have kids and fade away. Remember before the famous tape, Kim was a 20 year old married woman before that. What a difference a tape makes….stupid Ryan Seacrest.

    • Petee says:

She will not marry a rapper.I have always thought she is gay. Also there was a article on Blind Gossip that pretty much said it .No there is nothing wrong with that but her family think’s it is.It is not good for their brand. But I am sure when they are struggling it will come out.

      • Nancy says:

I’ve never heard about Kylie being gay. Hard to believe Tyga would use a teenager as a beard. You never know and it would certainly give them some interesting new material for the show, but I really really doubt that Kylie is gay…..the older one maybe………

      • Petee says:

Sorry I thought you meant Kendall. My mistake. No Kylie is not gay.

  35. Rainbow says:

To be fair Gigi Hadid is on the March cover of Vogue Paris and that’s bigger i think. American Vogue really sucks these days.

Also her answer that people go to college just to get a job is really stupid.People also go to college to learn. Sure you can read books by yourself (which she doesn’t do) but school and college open your horizons.
There’s a Greek ancient phrase from Solon that learning is an endless process “γηράσκω αεί διδασκόμενος”. Live and learn.

    Clueless person,boring photos.

  36. Louisa says:

many people go to college….to learn…. but i guess the jenner girls aren’t interested in that

  37. Teebee says:

She’d make a great Vulcan extra in the Star Trek reboot. As long as it’s a non speaking role.

  38. artpunk44 says:

So vacant. So bland. So much nepotism.

  39. Bobo says:

I do not find her attractive. I find her forgettable.

  40. CatJ says:

Is it just me, or is her chin lopsided in the first pic? It is a moveable chin implant, or just bad photoshopping? How can this be okayed as a cover????

  41. word says:

Does a Vogue cover still mean anything anymore? And of course she got one before Gigi did. Kendall has that Kanye connection remember.

  42. Miss M says:

Kendull, if Mario Testino could not make you look interesting, work as much as you can because your modeling career will not be long…

Yes, Kendall is right… If you value money above all else, you do not need to go to college. Just shoot a p@rn like her sister did to be famous and rich.

  43. lurkernomore says:

She is pretty but bland/basic as they come. But she is the only Kardashian with a legit career. Yeah she sounds vapid and out of touch but Imo it’s typical of ppl her age even the non famous /rich ones.

  44. rudy says:

    In the minority here:

Full Disclosure: I have a major crush on Kenall. I have NO idea why. I hate all the Kardashians but this girl. For some reason she has always caught my eye. lol.

She is adorable, very real and not overly chic or cool. SHe is awkward and graceful at the same time. A giraffe in the china shop.

I don’t understand how she gets along with those sisters BUT….it is NOT my family. I had to grow up with four other siblings, 3 of whom were awful to me and still are. Kendall’s family has been in the spotlight her whole life. THat is NOT her fault. All Kendall had to do was deal with the blessings and curses given to her at birth, like all of us.

And she dealt a good hand. BRavo Kendall!!! Stay real, no plastic surgery, come out of the closet, and have children.

  45. Paris says:

Can we sent ALL KarTRASHians and Jenners to Mars? Please? Please? Please??????????

  46. me says:

The way of the world usually goes like this, those with the money to go to college usually don’t, and the ones who don’t have the means are the ones who want to go the most.

  47. mu says:

It depends on what your career aspirations are. If you want to become an accountant or doctor, you have no choice but to get those degrees. If you want to be a model, actress, etc. you can probably get away without getting a degree. Mind you, Kendall was born rich and has many family connections. She knew she wouldn’t have a difficult time becoming a model and therefore didn’t need a back up plan. For us “normal” people, a back up plan (a degree) is a smart move. You can’t just rely on luck (even if it has worked for some people).

  48. perplexed says:

I don’t think the photographer/editorial person did a good job with this cover. Something about the clothing seems off. I don’t have an issue with her as a model — I just don’t think this cover looks great. Maybe the bikini bottom could have looked less weird…

    • perplexed says:

Oh wait – never mind. I re-read the blurb again and it says Mario Testino did this shoot. Yikes. Maybe the problem is her then.

  49. lucy says:

Looks awkward. Is the bad photoshopping? The ugly flamenco bikini? The kendall blandness? The curse of Wintourvoguetoxicity?

Waiting for regime change, however long it takes.

  50. Nik says:

I do give her credit for not botoxing and fat filling. They All have pretty faces and bodies but you would never know by the way they plasticize every inch of their bodies. Kendall is the least annoying.

  51. caitlinK says:

She’s an average pretty girl, the kind I see every day on the college campus where I work. Just such flat, bland features, such a flat, bland gaze; nothing compels me to look twice at her face. And, she clearly *has* had subtle work done–her lips have enlarged, and her nose changed, so she’s not even all natural. She is SO DULL–yikes–I can’t imagine being stuck near this vapid girl at a dinner party! Or, worse, being stranded on an island w her…Nepotism, that’s the ONLY reason she’s on the cover of Vogue. Her shallowness is deeply profound.

  52. Pumpking says:

“You talk to people and they say the reason they went to college was to get a job”

This is when that awful self-help quote about you being the sum of all the people you know suddenly rings true. Poor Kendall! What a terrible way to look at education.

Aside, she’s a very pretty woman but I’m never convinced she’s supermodel material. She’s all and thin with a sweet but featureless face, and she doesn’t photograph that well either. Bland presence. Can’t match the supermodels of yore, and we all know she books jobs and Karl just adores her because she’s got a notorious, infamous family that made her very famous and able to give his brand a push.

  53. Tonka says:

The next generation of Kardashians are the most vapid yet. I didn’t think they could get less interesting, but they have, and to great success. It’s mind boggling.

  54. Me Three says:

Maybe it’s me but that cover shot looks like some bad photoshopping in her leg area. They cut the right leg (her right leg) off at the top so it looks deformed.

  55. IzzyBizzy says:

Brands want to sell lipsticks, bags, perfumes, sports shoes…its hard today, there is so much competition and customers are fickle. Kendall and Kylie Jenner will be chosen because they have a huge following of very young potential buyers who will spend 40 dollars on somehting advertised by these women. Nowdays its how many Instagram followers you have that lands you the best deals.
Vogue needs to sell issues otherwise it will disappear like so many other magazines. Its not about aesthetics, get over it, Vogue is just one ad after another…

  56. PaulY says:

She’s pretty, sure, but she has trouble conveying any type of depth or soul in her photographs. Having been a big follower of the 90s supermodels, I miss the days of seeing Christy Turlington, Naomi Campbell, and Shalom Harlow work their special magic in front of the lens.
