Kristen Bell gushes about Peter Dinklage: ‘Charisma personified’

Kristen Bell during an appearance on ABC's 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!'
Kristen Bell is co-starring in the Melissa McCarthy comedy The Boss, out April 8th. She plays an exec in Melissa’s company who helps Melissa’s character get back on her feet again after losing her empire. The trailer made me laugh a few times, but I didn’t consider seeing it in the theater until I saw the red band trailer, which makes it seem bawdier and possibly hilarious. Bell was a guest on Jimmy Kimmel’s show this week, where she gushed about working with Peter Dinklage. I don’t know what Dinklage’s role is, but you can see him engage in some sword fighting (not a euphemism) at about 1:55 into the restricted trailer.

Anyway Bell seemed pretty sincere when she described Dinklage as a kind of super smart intelligent charismatic enigma. I don’t doubt that’s how he is in person but it was cool to hear.

When [Kristen Bell] got the opportunity to work with one of the HBO show’s stars, Peter Dinklage, in Universal Pictures’ upcoming comedy The Boss, she had a tough time keeping her chill. “Peter is my favorite because, first of all, he is charisma personified. He had everyone on our set eating out of his hand. He’s always sitting on set vaguely listening to us chatter and doing The New York Times crossroad puzzle—and not the Monday one! The Sunday one!” she said on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Wednesday. “He’s hyper intelligent and he’ll throw out a witty comment every now and again.” Bell added that she and co-star Melissa McCarthy were both “desperate” for clues about the popular series’ sixth season, but Dinklage “just toyed with us.”

Because they loved working with Dinklage so much, they kept a Tyrion Lannister figurine by the monitors. Later on, someone on set placed a Princess Anna doll next to it. Bell, who voiced the princess in Disney’s Frozen, may or may not have put the two toys in uncompromising positions. “I’m not saying I put them in these positions,” the actress said, “but I’m not saying that I didn’t.” Jimmy Kimmel showed photos from her Instagram account, saying, “These are adults at work.” Bell added that Dinklage “didn’t know” about the toys. “I tried to play it very cool around him.”

Bell also talked about how she’s a huge Game of Thrones fan, to the point where she made her daughter a Game of Thrones Night’s Watch costume. Bell also claims that the day she decided to do a photoshoot “some random friend stopped by with a giant white German Shepherd. A Direwolf you guys!” Yeah I’m not buying that coincidence, she probably called her friend to bring the dog over or she planned the photo around the dog, but still it’s a cute story. I checked her Instagram for that photo but then I remembered that she doesn’t post photos of her kid and is totally anti-paparazzi photos of kids. Bell was one of the founders of the “No Kids Policy” movement, and unlike other celebrities she really walks the walk.

Also, Bell shared these photos from her Instagram of a doll of her Frozen character, Princess Anna, in compromising positions with a Tyrion Lannister figurine. She said that “I’m not saying I put them in these positions, but I’m not saying that I didn’t.” She claims Dinklage didn’t know about that, but he does now.

Tyrion and Anna had a lot of fun on set of #TheBoss in Atlanta. A LOT OF FUN. @thebossfilm

Peter has an amazing dry sense of humour and I love listening to him talk. Kristen is right, he really is charisma personified.

There should be a warning on this post about the graphic doll sex photos…..those of us with doll phobias might have trouble sleeping tonight.

Peter Dinklage is proof that attraction and perceived sexiness is so much more about those intangibles than it is about the aesthetics of a guy.
Dinklage is so much sexier to me than say, Henry Cavill.

hells yes!! i don’t watch game of thrones but he had a great guest spot in 30 rock- his charisma is OFF THE CHARTS PEOPLE.

    • DeeDee says:

True! Peter Dinklage is so intriguing. Love him.

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

Totally agree with both of your thoughts. Dolls having sex 😳, and Peter is very attractive.

    • Alex says:

Yes agreed the charisma is off the charts with him for sure. Sometimes its more than the physical

    • paleokifaru says:

Haha! It’s the adult version of all those dolls/toys move around at night creepiness.

      Yeah he’s very sexy.

    • I Choose Me says:

YAS! YAS AND YAS! to everything you just wrote. Peter Dinklange is the sex to me. Good looks are great but show me some substance or gtfh.

I used to dream that my dolls would come alive whenever me and my sibs left the room ala Raggedy Ann and Andy. Didn’t creep me out though. After a steady diet of VC Andrews, Dean Koontz and Stephen King type books growing up, I’m not that easy to scare.

    • Ginger says:

I’ve had a crush on him since I saw him in the Station Agent. I read once in an interview that he had more dates in college than all of his roommates. He tries to play that down but I believe it.

    • Jane.fr says:

But then again, Henry Cavill is soooooo…. not sexy!

  4. paolanqar says:

How can you not love Peter Dinklage?
His talent is unbelievable and he can become ANYBODY on a screen. He is without a doubt the best actor in GoT and he has some serious contenders in there.

  5. anniefannie says:

Bells description of Dinklage working a crossword puzzle while throwing out dry remarks is EXACTLY how I’ve always pictured him. He has a sexy intelligence that can’t be faked. It’s rewarding to hear that some actors are just as they appear!

    • JoJo says:

Agree. He is A-MAZING! Sexy, charismatic, dry wit – one of my absolute favorite actors of GoT. He elevates every scene he is in!

I can’t even begin to imagine how much fun Peter, Melissa, and Kristen would be to goof around with on set.

  8. Margo S. says:

Lol oh my God that looks so good!!!!!! Cannot wait to see it!!!

  9. Ashley says:

I love his sense of humor, been a fan of him since nip tuck.

  10. Spike says:

I’ve been following Dinklage since The Station Agent. His performance was a revelation. When he was on Nip/Tuck (guilty pleasure) he was sexy/hot as Julia’s manny/lover.

When I read the sentence about the Anna/Tyrion figures being placed next to each other I immediately regressed to my childhood. I tthought about how I would would totally have their action figures make out like I would make my brother’s GI Joe make out with my Barbies.

Okay, that was back in the day when GI Joes were the same size. Or as I tell folks who were born later – back when dinosaurs roamed the earth or after the Civil War. My community college students (and youngsters) laugh, but some of them totally buy the Civil War comment.
