Evangeline Lilly Tours Middle Earth With A Hobbit (includes last season’s Lost plot)

Lord of the Rings fans give a sigh a jealousy, Evangeline Lilly is touring New Zealand with her boyfriend and former co-star Dominic Monaghan. He was killed-off at the end of season three of Lost. The pair refused to be photographed together, but Lilly did have this to say about their trip.

“I’m hoping not to do too much sightseeing,” Lilly said.

“I’d prefer to find a little nook, find a little town or cabin … go and have a beer with some locals, walk through the farms, pick wildflowers, write, read, be on my own. That’s what I need here. That’s what I’m looking for.

“If I was in Egypt or India I think I’d want to go and see the sights. Here, it’s more about absorbing the spirit and the soul of this place … ”

Lilly, who turns 28 on August 3, says she has wanted to come to New Zealand ever since she was taught by a Kiwi school teacher as a 14-year-old.

“He went home for Christmas, brought back a slideshow, told us all about his country. I fell in love. I swore on that day that I would move here and raise my kids in New Zealand.”

New Zealand Herald

Speculation is rife that they will be going to the Lord of the Rings locations and seeing where Monaghan filmed his role as the hobbit Merry. And obviously that they’ll be looking for a house to raise their yet unborn children. Actually, it is a completely rotten time of year to be here, mid-winter, she’ll probably go home and call her old teacher an idiot. Good beer though, very cold.

During last week’s visit to Sydney she talked about the Christmas fire that left her possession-less, caused by an electrical fault.

“It was a really liberating and exciting thing to happen,” Lilly told The Sunday Telegraph on a visit to Sydney last week.

“All that I lost were the things inside. I’ve always believed things are more of a chain than a vehicle. To not be tied down to anything was a great feeling.

“I was at work and I was like: `So I’ve got the clothes on my back, my wallet and my car and that’s everything I have in the world’.

It was like I was 20 again and the world was my oyster and I could go anywhere, do anything and be free.”

Daily Telegraph

While she might be enjoying her new freedom, I’ll bet the house she buys in NZ to raise her kids will be thoroughly checked for electrical issues.

Picture note by Celebitchy: Images are older ones of Lilly and Monaghan in Hawaii. I know that some people are still working their way through the confusing labyrinth of Lost episodes, and I included the note in the title about the sort-of spoiler so as not to ruin it for them.
