Controll is a huge part of anorexia. It's interesting that people who only know “tabloid info” about anorexia think they can assess whether or not someone suffers from it. It’s an illness that manifests itself in different ways depending on the individual. I have been working with it for years and not all girls are extremely ashamed of themselves and hide away. Some of them flaunts it and really “shove it in your face”. They want to hear you say that they’ve lost weight or that they are to skinny to get validation that they’ve finally succeeded ore to stood out enough to get noticed. Considering how much of an attention seeker she’s been over the years I would not be surprised if that was the case. Some anorexics however flaunt it as a cry for help. A way of saying: Please tell me this is wrong and help me. But in the end she would need medical help to both diagnose it and to heal from it. She's now in her late 60's and quit smoking last year. She gained 10 lbs and we are thrilled. She's now 5'7" and up to 112 pounds. Yay Mom! For many anorexics it is not about thinking they are fat.
