Adele: Beyonce is ‘Jesus F–king Christ, the sickest artist’ in the whole world

Several days ago, Adele finally spoke out about Beyonce’s Lemonade. People were genuinely waiting for Adele to say something, because Adele and Beyonce are quite friendly and Adele has been quite outspoken about being part of the Beyhive. As it turns out, it took Adele several days to absorb the Lemonade. Then she posted the above Instagram, with the lovely message about how Beyonce is inspiring and worthy of worship. Then, during Adele’s concert in Denmark last night, she had to stop the show briefly to fly her Beyhive Flag. She said:

“Any Beyonce fans in the crowd tonight? How is it even possible that she only ever gets better? How is that possible? She is Jesus f–king Christ, Jesus f–king Christ. Beyoncé is the sickest artist around in the whole entire world; it’s unbelievable. I’ve been listening to her for 17 years, and she’s still making music that blows my mind. She’s not here!”

You know what amazes me? It’s not that Beyonce is almost universally loved and praised by other artists – that’s been happening for years – but it’s that Adele isn’t even going to get slammed for this. One, Adele is so likeable that even touchy Christians (who won’t care for this comparison) won’t go after Adele. Two, the Beyhive genuinely believes that Beyonce IS Jesus, or Beysus, if you will.

I’m including the video below, it’s NSFW for language but you can barely even see Adele!

Adele has always been a fan of beyonce you can tell by the vmas a couple years back, when Bey performed Love On Top at the VMAs when she announced her pregnancy. & btw I totally called it on here about Olivia Wilde & Kerry Washington’s pregnancy. Ever since I’ve became pregnant I can tell when someone is pregnant. You’re welcome (: and I think blac Chyna is next to announce her pregnancy

    • mme says:

OH No, Rose take it back. That would be an “actual” Kardashian heir and Pimp Mama K would put behind all her reservations for Blac Chyna to pimp that child adequately. Rob needs to get away from the Klan.

    • QQ says:

BWAHAHAHA from your mouth To Chyna’s Uterus Rose I’m eagerly awaiting

    • Dani2 says:

HAHA yes a Chyro baby 🙂 from your lips to Blac Chyna’s uterus as QQ said 😉

    • Ayra. says:

You win, Rob and Chyna just confirmed that she’s pregnant. Lord..

    • laura says:

Ah you were so right chyna announced 😂 I read your comment this morning and went no she’s definitely wrong about chyna being pregnant so I’m back here to eat my words and praise your pregnancy psychicness

    • Otaku Fairy says:

You were right. (Apparently they wanted to leak it tomorrow on mother’s day).

  2. Sixer says:

I was going to ask whether you guys will see that as offensive. “Jesus f–king Christ” is a VERY common expletive in sweary Britland! Or “Jesus H Christ” – why the H, I have no idea!

    • kri says:

Sixer-the “H” looks good on business cards.

    • claire says:

Some people might. Not me. I think it’s a misunderstanding to think she was calling Beyonce that, as some think. It was more used as an adverb, expletive. Which, yes, is somewhat common here.

      • Sixer says:

Yes, I wondered if that’s what people might think and then take offence. She wasn’t saying Beyonce was Jesus. It’s just an exclamation. We might use it for emphasis (as here) or we might use it to express shock/surprise.

      • V4Real says:

I’m not offended. I can’t believe someone would take that literally. I sometimes say “You walk on water, Jesus F*ucking Christ.

    • doofus says:

I think the H is for “Holy”, maybe?

my favorite is “Jesus Tap-dancing Christ.

      and LOL at kri…good one!

    • Lozface says:

I was thinking the same! We say both those phrases a lot in Australia too. Especially with the H! I still wonder where that comes from. Just shows how much we have taken on from the motherland!

      • Jellybean says:

I am an H girl and as a Brit I use it pretty freely, although I can’t imagine typing it, or saying it around my mother.

  3. roxane says:

Is there one thing to like about Beyoncé it’s her amazing work ethic. Her shows are always on point.

    • Sabrine says:

I’m finding both of them over-exposed and the annoyance factor is creeping steadily upwards . If both of them went away, I would hope it would be sooner than later.

      • Dani2 says:

Neither one is going anywhere for a LONG time, friend. They’re both young as well (adele – 28, Beyonce 34), they could be around for like another 50 years if they want to.

  4. mme says:

That sucks. Now the people who get kicks out of putting Beyoncé down in favor of Adele are going to have a hard time with this time.
There’s nothing more beautiful than women supporting and uplifting each other in a society that has everyone picking sides and tearing them down. Much respect to Adele and from the clips I saw on YouTube, her tour is an absolute dream

    • AlmondJoy says:

Don’t worry, MME. Those people will skip right over this article lol… It won’t get many comments. Can’t bear for their fave to admit that Bey is her fave.

    • Otaku Fairy says:

I like how Adele always seems secure enough to not need other women in her industry to be put down in order for her to be built up.

    • lower-case deb says:

i really enjoy her onstage chats, even though some might be a bit longer than necessary; but i get that for the fans she’s chatting to it is obviously great.

however, i hope she’ll continue to talk to fans and sometimes i thank her for helping spread good words about many issues:

like the time she really gave a platform for someone raising awareness for sarcoma cancer: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=2nqoV8SRn6k

  5. vauvert says:

I have no problem with Adele loving Bey or any other artist ad praising their talent or work ethic or anything.

But – I don’t particularly care for the blind worship-like words she used. At all. We have allowed the status of celebrity to be raised to the level of near- divinity. That offends me. (Not because I am particularly religious – I m not.)

    • helena says:

you’re exactly right. I hate this culture of worship. and beyonce is the most extreme exemple of that. her fans worship her, they think she’s more than a human, they act as if they were worms and she was a goddess. that’s really unhealthy. bruce springsteen once said that the greatest compliment a fan can give him was to see him as a real human being. and people adore bruce. yes. and they adore him because he gives his heart and soul. he’s not trying to seem like an out of the world phenomenon. that’s what I dislike about beyonce. and even more about her fans.

    • Classy and Sassy says:

It’s a bit much, isn’t it? Makes me cringe slightly.

    • Scotchy says:

Finally, some sense talk!! It really feels that this worship of entertainers is out of control, and creepy. I mean they just entertain, they aren’t saving lives and on top of that they have a whole team ( yes Adele has a team) of folks that help them be the successful entertainers they are. I wish we would praise teachers, doctors, nurses, care givers, garbage collectors, bus drivers with the same fervor we do entertainers.. siiigghh..
Anyhow good to see I’m not alone 🙂

      • lower-case deb says:

Adele was similarly gushing about her doctor on the Grammy stage, she said he literally brought her voice back and gave her back her career; the doc (and support) were the only one thanked in that segment of the award–maybe because Adele knew she’s going to win more stuff as the night went, idk.

also if you see recordings of her other banter during tour, she spoke extensively of her doctor, nutritionist, even therapist and voice coach, also the person who introduced her to crystals. giving them shoutouts of what they have given her.

she lets a cancer survivor basically do a PSA for 5 minutes on stage to raise awareness, noting what UK researchers have done to further understanding of this disease.

i’m guessing is that she tends to go over the top in her praise of everything.

  6. Gardenia says:

That’s cool. I love the positivity. I wish more artists had Adele’s attitude. It seems almost everyone is beefing with somebody else.

  7. Jennifer says:

    I don’t think I’d go that far.

  8. iGotNothin says:

I wouldn’t say it. But that’s attributable to my southern baptist upbringing where “you don’t take the lord’s name in vain.” I still cringe when I hear G..damn. But I’m also amused by Adele’s fangirl flag and appreciate it for what it is. Everyone doesn’t have the same upbringing and words don’t hold the same conviction. Plus Beyonce is DA BEST!

    • NanaAkua says:

I supported u right up to the third sentence. You don’t make statements like that about someone worshiped by millions or probably billions around the world even if u r Adele. Jesus F”king Christ?? That’s BLASPHEMY!! I know there are a lot of atheists here but as much as u want to toot ur belief or non-belief, u don’t trample on someone’s faith just to get ur point across.

      • iGotNothin says:

I’m sure that’s not how she intended it. Adele is not the first or only person, celebrity or not, that I’ve heard say something like that. I’m willing to bet it’s quite common in Europe.

It has nothing to do with religion or faith at all. We are now living in a time where people feel much more at ease making those types of comments in jest.

      • kanyekardashian says:

Get off the cross, we need the wood.

    • Otaku Fairy says:

I probably wouldn’t say that about anybody- not for any religious reasons (agnostic) but because that would feel like letting the fangirl flag fly just a little too high. Still, it’s funny how even celebrities aren’t immune to fangirl/fanboy fever.

  9. Alex says:

I like that Adele is such a dorky fan like the rest of us. And a lot of times she praises female artists in interviews. Like Nicki Manaj, Beyonce, JLaw have all gotten her enthusiastic praise which is cute. I love Adele

  10. Colette says:

Adele has been slammed by Christians on Black blogs for days for referring to Bey as Jesus Christ.

  11. Neelyo says:

Nope, still not a fan of either one of them.

  12. Jessica says:

Ugh. It’s cute that she’s a super-fan (or it would be if she weren’t laying it on SO thick), but stan culture is so nausea-inducing in the way it has adults literally worshiping celebrities. Stanning really is like a form of religion to some people. It’s sad. Especially because in this day and age with Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat & the proliferation of gossip media we can see just how fallible our favorite celebs really are.

I was really hyped up on Lemonade for the first week, and I still think it’s a great body of work even though I tired very quickly of the Becky fixation. If Jay Z comes out with a “his side of the story” album like Us Weekly said, it’s all going to feel really cheap. But I enjoyed reading some of the more insightful culture pieces about it — the dreaded thinkpieces. She has proven that she is capable of continual artistic evolution, something one of my other faves — Drake — seems incapable of, and I give her credit for that. But no, she’s not Jesus, or anything approaching Jesus, or God, or any kind of deity. Sorry.

  13. Sarah says:

She’s laying it on a little thick. Almost seems like she is over compensating

  14. kanyekardashian says:

The asskissing club that is Hollyweird is annoying beyond belief. Beyonce is a marginally-talented person, at BEST. The woman can’t write a lyric to save her life, can’t sing live, can’t play an instrument, every word she “sings” comes from the experiences of at least 15 songwriters for hire, and yet people worship this display of non-talent? All this woman does is shake her ass – literally. I do not get it and never will.

    • Rachel says:

      a) She can sing live
      b) She plays the piano
      c) She has a writing credit on practically every song released; the ‘fifteen songwriters for hire’ on her most recent stuff is explicable when you consider how much she samples other songs and artists in LEMONADE
      d) She is the sole executive producer on LEMONADE
      e) She can pull off incredible choreography in the middle of singing live
      f) She’s a business genius
      g) LEMONADE received rave reviews

Even if Beyonce isn’t to your personal taste, to say she’s ‘marginally talented’ is to do a massive disservice to someone who has not only become a musical icon. but has consistently been one of the biggest people in the game for over a decade.

      • Scotchy says:

She has writing credits but it doesn’t mean much, there are really at least 2-7 other writers on every track she has ever done. She is not playing any of those instruments on the record or live. She is the executive producer because she paid for everything. AGAIN, it doesn’t mean she isn’t an amazing entertainer, because Beyonce is, but the other poster is right , there are a lot of folks behind all the pop acts we know and love. I am in the business and see it first hand. Let’s ease up on the worship and enjoy the entertainment.

    • AlmondJoy says:

Thanks, Rachel. And aside from her musical accomplishments she’s built a homeless shelter in her hometown, had a special fundraiser for Flint, Michigan, and works with Beygood, Global Citizen and Chime for Change.

KanyeKardashian: It’s fine if you feel Beyonce is marginally talented. Everyone has their own opinion. But to say all she does is shake her butt is a straight up lie. Do your research.

    • imqrious2 says:

EDA: Oops! Wrong placement. I am talking about Adele here.

She plays guitar, bass, and piano. During the recording of 19 and the tour in support of it, she played both the acoustic guitar and the bass. In the Carpool Karaoke with James Cordon, she also said that she plays drums.

She is a genuine talent. I can’t wait to see her show again!

    • nubiahbella says:

Yet Adele last album was written and produced by other people but no one makes a fuss about it.

      • delorb says:

Nope. Never. Some people seem to live to take jibes at her. I find her incredibly talented and have noticed how hard she works. Check out her live performances on YouTube and people will see what I mean. And before anyone says otherwise, I’m not part of any hive. I’m just someone who recognizes her skill.

  15. lucy says:

Another reason not to like Adele.

I don’t get the Beyonce worship. And Adele’s voice is shrill and scratchy…sure, throaty, too, but: yuck. Her material isn’t that good either. So I guess I don’t get the Adele worship either.

  16. Marianne says:

I have no doubt that Adele is a fan, she’s talked about her before in interviews and stuff. But do we really believe that it took her all this time to “absorb” the album. Like, it just seems like there was pressure (because she has said shes a fan in the past) to come out and say something about it.

    • Betsy says:

Why wouldn’t she want to really listen to the album, beyond first impressions?

  17. Magnoliarose says:

Adele is beginning to grate my nerves. Her outspoken ways used to be charming but lately she’s too extra.

  18. lower-case deb says:

apparently, Beyonce returned the favor and wished Adele a happy birthday on her official website:
    http://www.beyonce.com/adeles-birthday/

i like that Adele seems to be a fan of everybody and doing everybody’s promo on the side. mentioning Britney’s Vegas show, mentioning Rihanna’s Anti on Fallon even when Rihanna wasn’t promoting all that much, shout out to Florence & the Machine’s HBHBHB, Lana del Rey, etc.

and how odd that Adele’s show has turned into some kind of Engagement Festival? two (?) more engagements in her Scandiwegian leg of the tour, i think?

  19. Dangles says:

“You know what amazes me? It’s not that Beyonce is almost universally loved and praised by other artists – that’s been happening for years”

Lemonade has made such a big splash here in Australia that even the alternative radio station Triple J are playing it. As a result the mainstream press are mocking them for it. One quote read “Triple J Playing Beyoncé?” She was cool before Jack White” Ah the irony.

    • Pepper says:

Triple J plays pop acts all the time. When ANTI came out they were all over that. They’ve played Adele, Bruno Mars etc. before. They won’t play the latest Katy Perry or Taylor Swift, but if a pop song is slightly different from the norm, they’ll play it.

It’s not getting play on the regular radio stations. Formation was played for about a week when it was released, and it debuted at number 24 on the charts. Lemonade debuted at number 1, but was almost beaten out by a Greatest Hits Prince album. It’s not taking Australia by storm or anything.

      • Dangles says:

The point is Triple J had snubbed Beyoncé for years, presumably because she was too mainstream, and now they’ve “discovered” her. That’s why the press were poking fun at them. And you think that Lemonade topping Prince’s greatest hits album at this point in time isn’t significant? It’s huge. Even the “intellectual” talk show hosts on ABC radio 774 were discussing how significant Lemonade is.

      • Ange says:

I remember hearing Beyonce on triple J when I was at uni around early 2000s so no, they haven’t snubbed her for years they were just selective on what they played. They played that really funky song of hers where she yells a bit, can’t think of the name of it.

      • Dangles says:

Oh ok. I’ve never heard Triple J play Beyoncé but if you heard them play one of her songs 16 years ago, even though you can’t remember what it was, then we should demand that the newspaper print a retraction.

  20. Drs. Fixxie says:

    Many yawns

  21. Sam says:

Adele was very clearly offensive with these comments. And she was probably paid for it. It’s strange that, in this world that does not welcome putting people down, the ONLY acceptable offence is one targetting Christians. And it goes all around the media. By the way…. since when did we start worshipping music artists ? They are not more than people.

    • Dangles says:

If Christians are so beaten down in America why do presidential candidates still have to pretend to be Christians to have shot at getting elected?

    • helena says:

you REALLY think this has something to do with christianity? come on, man. this is about this irritating beyonce worshipping. it has noooooooooothing to do with christians and it’s not said to offend christians.

    • Sixer says:

I can understand, as I said above, that religious people may not appreciate other, presumably non-religious, people using idioms that are blasphemous in their religion, whichever religion that is. And I can understand that some people may find what Adele said a bit silly and hyperbolic.

BUT… she wasn’t comparing Beyonce to Christ. She was using a blasphemous exclamation to emphasise that she likes Beyonce. Here’s a non-blasphemous, non-sweary translation of what she said:

“She is… I have no words good enough, I have no words good enough… Beyoncé is the sickest artist around in the whole entire world; it’s unbelievable.”

Here in Britland we swear and blaspheme all the time. So much so that we probably don’t even realise we are doing it most of the time. We call people the worst of swear words as expressions of affection. By all means, feel free to say that you don’t approve of such a vulgar culture. Perfectly valid opinion.

But Adele didn’t compare Beyonce to Christ. She just said that she really, really liked Beyonce.

    • Otaku Fairy says:

Her comment has nothing to do with putting down Christians.

  22. Michael says:

My wife was a big fan of Adele, not any more. Comparing a human to the sinless SON of GOD, and thereby offending every Born again believer in CHRIST, is from a reprobate mind. JESUS is the most important name in our lives! Adios forever Adele.

  23. TOPgirl says:

Pathetic. I smell a butt kisser in the HOUSE tonight!!

  24. Naddie says:

I have mixed feelings about this. I’m a great fan of Beyonce’s work, but she’s not worship-worthy… On the other hand, who am I to tell how anyone’s supposed to express themselves? All I can say is that this annoyed the hell out of me, probably because I hate one human being worshiping another, specially a very self-absorbed one.

  25. Snarknado says:

    Dead common!

  26. KelT says:

What a kiss-up freak. This makes me dislike her even more. This is youthful stupidity to say such a thing, no matter how “common”. Learn, people. No one on this earth is worthy of worship, even if it is said in jest.
