Justin Bieber got a widdle cross tattoo by his eye: dumb & permanent?

Resting up for the show in Philly it's gonna be a good one mark my words

A photo posted by Justin Bieber (@justinbieber) on

Justin Bieber has a ton of tattoos, mostly on his arms and back but also on his legs, behind his ear and up his neck. Many of them are references to his Christian faith, some are sayings like “Patience,” “Purpose,” and “Believe,” and he has a bunch of animals like an owl, tiger and seagull. He even has a tattoo on his forearm of a Selena Gomez type figure as an angel, which he’s admitted trying to cover up since their breakup. So he regrets at least one of his tattoos, although up until now they’ve been in places which can be covered by clothing. That has now changed with a tiny tattoo by his eye of what looks like a tear. At least he got a small line instead of a teardrop looking thing, but it does seem to be permanent. Update: thanks to those of you who pointed out that this is a tiny cross. The tattoo “represents his journey in finding purpose with God,” according to the tattoo artist.

As People Magazine points out, Bieber doesn’t give us any hints on Instagram (above) if the little line is an actual tattoo, but that seems to be confirmed with an Instagram by a tattoo artist named Jon Boy who posted a photo of Bieber with a red mark by his eye near the new ink.

Bieber has admitted that he’s open to face tattoos, as People also reminds us. He told GQ earlier this year that face tattoos “if they’re done right, they could be cool, but nothing super crazy all over the face.” He also said he might get one “when I’m really old, not super old, but maybe, like, 40s or 50s or something. One above my eyebrow or something small.

It looks like Bieber is feeling “really” old but not “super” old. He might be world-weary after all the lawsuits he’s faced. Bieber was just sued for $100,0000 last week for smashing a man’s phone after he recorded Bieber spitting beer all over himself while trying to drink from a beer bong. The man claims that Bieber never returned his SIM and destroyed thousands of photos and contacts. So now Bieber has a little tear tattoo to remind people how sensitive he is. Bieber weeps permanently. There’s always Dermablend.

These photos are from before Bieber cut his dreads. Those weren’t permanent. Credit: WENN and Getty

I thought a tear tattoo by the eye was a prison thing meaning how many people you’ve killed.

  2. mkyarwood says:

Ah, yes. Prison tattoos make you so hard. I’ll try not to judge tho. Spose he could have killed somebody by now, or been raped.

    • Jules says:

He’s only killed my eardrums whenever I’ve heard him sing……..

      • Annetommy says:

Ha! Ridiculous boy. His Christian faith is news to me (not that I take a very close interest), wonder how it manifests itself…

      • ol cranky says:

@Annetommy I’m not a fan but he’s always put himself out there as a “good Christian” he doesn’t live according the to evangelical religious beliefs he claims to have but . . .

      • Birdy says:

        Ditto

  3. Willa says:

Look who we’re talking about. Dumb.

    • Chaucer says:

Sure he’s dumb and we all hate him. But I don’t really see the issue beyond that. His people handle his money well, he’s never going to have to get a real job so it doesn’t really matter. He’s just going to look like a dbag for forever, which he was going to anyway, tattoo or not.

  4. NewWester says:

“when I am really old, not super old, but maybe like 40’s or 50’s” Will you still need a bodyguard to put you into your car seat or will you have hopefully faded away by then? I am going to go get a glass of prune juice now and yell at children to get off my lawn, then take a nap. Being really old (over 40) wears a person out

  5. Chelsey says:

So does that mean he’s killed a guy?

  6. lilacflowers says:

Preparing for the role of Uncle Teardrop in a remake of Winter’s Bone?

  7. Rachel says:

Doesn’t having a teardrop tattooed next to your eye mean you’ve killed someone?

  8. roxane says:

This young man is so dumb.

    • zinjojo says:

That’s it, he’s dumb. And I mean that in the sense that I really think he doesn’t have a high level of native intelligence, with little education or anything that would have sparked something like critical thinking, plus really dumb parents. He may have singing talent, but he sure doesn’t have smarts.

      • Wren says:

There are many types of intelligence, and he seems to be high in some areas and low in others. Things like common sense seem to be lacking. However, if you subscribe to the theory that celebrities stay mentally at the age when they became famous, it makes sense. You could be the smartest person in the world, but when you’re 14 you’re still going to do some stupid things. He’s had adulation, money and few boundaries at an age when many of make dumb choices. Is it any wonder he acts like a petulant child who doesn’t get told ‘no’ very often? Who thinks his every idea is awesome and will totally be cool forever? Not really.

  9. Laura says:

    Uuuuuuuuuggggggggggg…… Gross.

    • outhousecat says:

You’re only supposed to comment on Justin’s tat, not on Justin in general.

  10. Lindy79 says:

Isn’t a teardrop tat (which is kind of looks like despite saying it’s a line), supposed to be a sign you’ve killed someone?

  11. LookyLoo says:

Tattoos by the eyes show a “kill” – not sensitivity. Why is he so stupid?

  12. Lora says:

    Dumb

  13. Nicole says:

He’s such a tool. Before I was okay with giving him a break cause he was a kid but now he’s an adult and it’s no longer getting a pass. Ever since he got close with his dad (and seemingly not close to his mom/Usher) and picked up those loser friends he’s been an awful person. Get it together JB

    • Redgrl says:

His mother is equally trash. That faux born again drivel is for show – friend of mine grew up in same town and the stories about mom were legendary. Dad was never in his life until he made money.

      • ickythump says:

        really Redgrl? do tell?!

      • Kitten says:

His mom is awful, enabling and condoning his sh*tty behavior.

      • Alex says:

Yes do tell. I don’t know if his mom enabled him…right after they staged that intervention with usher his mom was never around him. Even JB said they were estranged probably because he had another “parent” that went to clubs with him and whatever.
Anyways they are raising a douchebag but his dad is the worst of the two IMO.

      • Redgrl says:

Icky thump & Alix – his mom was known for leaving him in the care of his grandparents while she drank & partied & consumed unmentionables with unsavoury types. Her circle of friends were known to police and so was she. The born again business is pure marketing. The dad had a whole 2nd family that he dumped to come back & cash in. Dad used to strut around pretending to be MMA until he got beaten up in a bar – by the brother I referred to…

Much street cred. Many tough. Wow.

Justin Bieber : dumb & permanent?

Sadly, I think this is the more accurate headline.

  16. Darkladi says:

    Tool

  17. DanaG says:

He is an idiot that tat does usually mean you have killed someone or maybe it symbolises the death of his career? He has pretty much killed that with his arrogant, childish behaviour.

  18. KikiKat says:

    It’s a tiny cross (not a tear)….silly either way

  19. Tate says:

    Idiot

  20. Kween Kardashian says:

He got a holy cross, not a tear. I feel sorry for him, he seems so miserable. I think he is a good performer though.

    • Kitten says:

      Of course he’s miserable!
Because life is so hard when you’re young, good-looking, successful and extraordinarily wealthy.

      • Wren says:

Well, life is hard when it’s empty and you feel alone even though you’re surrounded by people, so maybe it is. His actions are not those of someone comfortable with themselves or secure in their relationships with others. When all your friends are bought and paid for (or hoping to be) and nobody actually cares about you, just your money or what you can get them, life isn’t that awesome. It’s too bad nobody seems to realize this before they chase fame and fortune. Yeah you’ll have everything you’ve ever dreamed of materially, but if you’re not careful it’ll be a hollow existence.

I dislike him immensely and think he’s a spoiled child, but I do feel sorry for him. He seems like he’s trying to fill a hole inside himself, and, of course, failing miserably.

      • swak says:

@wren, he’s no longer a child and needs to start taking steps to correct what is going on in his life (can’t be done overnight). He is still doing douche bag things.

      • Wren says:

Of course he isn’t but sometimes it’s not so easy to see the way out of a bad situation or an empty existence. Sometimes people don’t even realize it can be different if they just altered their behavior. I’ve met several adults that never really grew up, and they didn’t have the money to fund their immaturity the way this guy does. They just kept jumping from poor choice to poor choice, as if the next toy or style or self help seminar would finally fix everything, and then when it didn’t (or made life worse), they were dumbfounded and went searching for the next one. Of course we on the outside can see that’s ridiculous and if they just owned up to their problems and made a concerted effort to change, their lives would be vastly improved.

  21. Darkladi says:

A cross. Original assessment stands. Tool.

  22. Pepper says:

It’s so small it just looks like he’s got a speck of dirt on his face. I can’t decide if that makes it stupider (what’s the point?), or less stupid (it won’t ever matter because most people won’t even notice it).

  23. Abigail says:

I know someone with a teardrop just under his eye, in reference to the loss of his oldest son in a traffic accident. So there’s another meaning.

  24. Kate says:

In the words of Hermione Grainger, “what an idiot”

  25. Jayna says:

You know, Madonna hit a new low, a low lower than her Met Gala outfit. She was photographed at Bieber’s concert the other night sans her children. What 58-year-old woman goes to a Justin Bieber concert? What adult goes to a Justin Bieber concert unless to take their kids?

Another tattoo for Justin? Woo-hoo. He’s such a bad-ass. Not.

    • Kitten says:

Are you kidding me? Oh LORD.

    • Jwoolman says:

I like Bieber’s music (what I’ve heard of it, not much) and I’m old as dirt. I don’t go to anybody’s concerts, though, and didn’t when I was young either (I was a totally unsatisfactory teenager). But I imagine Madonna goes to quite a few. She’s in the business, no need to drag kids along to excuse it.

Bieber isn’t without talent. He’s not someone I would want in my neighborhood, but that’s because of lack of other things.

  26. swak says:

I have such a phobia about anything to do with my eyes or close to my eyes that I can’t even contemplate lasik surgery. I sure hope everything was sterile and that he is taking care of that tattoo properly. Heaven knows what will happen if it gets infected.

  27. Maleficent says:

It really busts my buttons that this man has had opportunity after opportunity rolled out for him, and he abuses it by being a tool.

  28. Magnoliarose says:

A fool without a soul gets a tattoo. People enable him so will continue behaving like an idiot..

  29. antipodean says:

When I read news of this buffoon two words always come to mind, David Cassidy. Justin “permanent toddler”, this has all been done before, and done better. Those who do not, or cannot, learn the lessons of history are doomed to repeat it. Come back in twenty years, when you are really, really old (if you are still alive), and tell us what this uneducated, entitled lifestyle has taught you, you may then have something approaching interesting to say.

  30. NeoCleo says:

“Permanent dumb.” Perfect choice of words in the Header.

  31. Linda says:

He needs psychiatric help. Not another tattoo.

  32. pinetree13 says:

So he covers himself in religious tattoos because he’s so “Christian” yet you never hear of him doing any meaningful charity work. And please don’t cite any tax-write-off-charity-donations that all celebrities do to pay no tax (as in, sacrificing absolutely nothing). I mean MEANINGFUL charity work. Not a tax-write-off. Not a charity song/appearance that you got paid for. I mean ACTUAL work or an ACTUAL large donation past the point of breaking-even on your taxes.

I feel all celebs should do that anyway but you think someone that WANTS to be Christian and WANTS to promote himself as such would go the extra mile.

It drives me crazy that I do what I can to help humanity and yet those with far greater means than I do so little. You think by now I would stop being shocked by humanity’s selfish nature but I continue to be shocked by it. If even 30% of rich people worked towards helping humanity imagine where we could be? How much less suffering there could be? 🙁

    • Magnoliarose says:

It does make me like someone a lot less if they do nothing. It’s an ugly character trait and a deal breaker even as far as friendships. I’m not saying everyone can do as much as someone with more means, but a person can care and do something.

  33. LadyKarinksy says:

“The tattoo “represents his journey in finding purpose with God,” according to the tattoo artist.”

    So, insignificant?

  34. Giddy says:

Beiber is such a bada$$. I look at him and think, now that’s what a real man looks like.
    HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

  35. TOPgirl says:

Tattoos are nice if they are simple but the more you get….the more issues you have that are painted on the surface for the world to see.

  36. SK says:

Ugh. Hillsong. That’s an Australian “megachurch” that has apparently spread to the US. So much shade for them. They employ cult techniques and they demand a tithe from their followers. They even have credit card swipe machines in the backs of the seats. It is all a money making scheme. The people who started the church are ROLLING in money. Some relatives of the founders have spoken out against them. I’m not a fan.
