Sophie Turner says Jennifer Lawrence once ‘punched me in the vagina’

To promote X-Men: Apocalypse, Sophie Turner has been doing more promotional work than she’s ever done. It probably helps that the release of the film coincides with Season 6 of Game of Thrones, because she’s talking about both projects a lot in interviews. Sophie plays the young (teenage) Jean Grey in Apocalypse, and it’s Sophie’s first time in the X-Men universe. By all accounts, she got along really well with everyone. So well, in fact, that America’s Farty Sweetheart decided to lightheartedly c—t punch Sophie and Sophie took it in stride. From Sophie’s Just Jared Spotlight interview:

JJ: Did you have fun on set with Jennifer Lawrence? It sounds like you two became close.
ST:
Jen and I had a few scenes together. She is definitely a big inspiration to work with and she is just how you’d want Jennifer Lawrence to be. She’s exactly the same person that you see in interviews. And she was just amazing. She was really fun, really cool. Hilarious!

JJ: She seems like she’d be really fun.
ST:
Yeah! She punched me in the vagina once. I didn’t ask her to either. It just happened. Evan [Peters] and I were having a fake fight and I said something like, “I’ll c-nt punch you” or “I’ll punch you in the crotch” and then Jen thought that I said, “Please c-nt punch me Jen.” So she punched me in the vagina and I was like, “Awesome.” It was pretty funny.

JJ: Was that during an actual scene or in between takes?
ST:
That was in between takes. She definitely wouldn’t have done that when we were rolling!

[From Just Jared]

I just… I mean, I’m laughing. Sophie makes it sound funny – “then Jen thought that I said, ‘Please c-nt punch me Jen.’” J-Law’s costars almost always love and adore her, but I imagine she loves to wrestle, rough-house and generally be a nightmare for insurance companies. The X-Men films are probably like camp – everyone gets along, everyone acts silly. But to run up to a young actress and punch her in the vagina? Classic J-Law. J-Law always takes it one step too far. The only way this could be more Classic J-Law is if Jen punched Sophie in the crotch, then Jen fell down. And was covered in Dorito dust the whole time.

Sophie Turner is so beautiful. I hope X-Men is a success mainly for her sake because I wanna see her in more movies!

    • tracking says:

She really is gorgeous, and has done such a great job with her GoT character arc.

      • Locke Lamora says:

Really? I find her quite plain ( she’s cute, but Sansa is supposed to be gorgeous) and her acting is so wooden. One of the weakest actors in GoT.

      • mom2two says:

@Locke Lamora, for me it depends on the material she’s given in the show. I thought she did some real fine work showing Sansa’s grief for her mother and brother after the Red Wedding (in early season 4). I thought the goodbye scene between her and Theon was also touching. Some times I find her very compelling and other times she does seem stiff. I still think she’s overall better than Clarke and Harington though.
Sophie seems like a nice young lady. I hope she always keeps her wits about her especially as Hollywood is knocking on her door.

      • Grant says:

I think she’s quite great on GoT. I’m really impressed. If anyone comes off wooden to me, it’s Arya, especially with this dreadfully boring assassin storyline she’s stuck in.

    • Erica_V says:

I thought she was the girl who played Prim in the Hunger Games series! I was pretty confused as to why they were asking her about working with Jen… like she’s worked with her on four films already… but nope they are different people apparently!

  2. roxane says:

I’m supposed to find that hilarious ?

    • Locke Lamora says:

Nothing in that whole exchange was funny.

      • CoKatie says:

Yeah, I found nothing in that amusing at all. I actually found one part of it repetitive. I got it. You want to shock me and/or show how at ease you are with the female anatomy.

Also, @Locke, I am in complete agreement with you on her portrayal as Sansa. Wooden. I’ll even go further – her portrayal of this character has so bored me that I’ve long since cared about what happens to her. I was okay with her being dead at the end of last season when she jumped off the wall. Other than she is under the protection of Brienne of Tarth, I’m pretty over her storyline.

    • InvaderTak says:

I’m with you all. That’s funny?

    • Shelby says:

Nope, not funny to me either

    • mom2two says:

I can’t say I found anything about this to be funny myself.

    • HH says:

Thank you. I read that waiting for a laugh, but it never came. Jennifer Lawrence seems nice and all, but I don’t get the hype. Then again, I never get the hype over “girl/boy next door” celebrities. Like, if I wanted to fawn over my next door neighbor, I would. The best part about celebrities is their genetic-jackpot looks and the “it” factor that no one can pinpoint.

    • Starkiller says:

I’m sure everyone would find it hilarious if their roles were reversed.

    • kcarp says:

Ya I am not sure what is funny about this? Maybe if I am a 15 year old boy it would be hilarious. I really don’t find anything Jennifer Lawrence does funny. I dont think she is offensive or anything she is just whatever for me. Maybe immature?

    • serena says:

+100 that’s not funny, just rude.

    • Grant says:

      I thought it was hilarious.

    • Jib says:

Yes, more bathroom, childish humor. Nothing witty about JLaw at all. Just a total goof.

  3. JustCrimmles says:

Dorito dust, the new pixie dust?

  4. Laura says:

I’m of those ladies that loves the word c*nt. I though this was adorable & hilarious. I’m also a fan of both ladies & X-men so I will be seeing this opening weekend. YES TO A NEW, BADASS STORM!!!! Halle Berry never did her justice.

  5. paolanqar says:

I find JLaw to be so un-funny. I am not surprised she is freind with Amy Schumer. They are like the anti-matter of fun.

    • Emma - The JP Lover says:

@Paolanqar, who wrote: “I find JLaw to be so un-funny. I am not surprised she is freind with Amy Schumer. They are like the anti-matter of fun.”

LOL! “The ‘anti-matter’ of fun?” Awesome. I am SO stealing this! 🙂

  6. antipodean says:

Can I just indulge a pet peeve? As a midwife of some thirty odd years of experience, it really irks me when women who should know better refer to the vulva as the vagina! The vagina is INTERNAL, and the vulva/c88t is EXTERNAL, basic anatomy people. It really shouldn’t matter, I know, but it really annoys me, so thank you for letting me vent. It is a gray, cold morning, and I am using that as my curmudgeonly excuse today! In an hour or two I will be shouting at people on my front lawn, and waving my Zimmer frame at all and sundry.

    • EM says:

This. I find it annoying as well, but it appears to be an American celebrity thing.

    • Jill says:

No one says vulva unless they want to sound like an uptight dork. Sorry.

      • V4Real says:

Yes, I think most people know but it’s just easier to say vagina; no biggie.

      • Alex says:

I mean I know the biological terms but who says vulva in a story?

      • elle says:

        I’m with antipod.

It seems like celeb-people starting saying “vagina” instead of “crotch” or something more nebulous, because they wanted to show how aware and ‘real’ they are. The Project Runway contestants are always gasping about “vagina on the runway,” which would be much more shocking than what they’re actually seeing.

    • Jo 'Mama' Besser says:

Bugs me too. I doubt the punch got all the way up to her period parts, so no, not vagina.

    • susiecue says:

Well it’s similar to “kidney punch”, I’d say. Also internal. Also said a lot.

  7. CornyBlue says:

This is why I can never quit the X Men. The cast seem like good friends and they had such fun.

  8. Alex says:

Well I think the worst injury Jen has inflicted on someone was when she knocked Josh out on the first THG movie when they were play boxing. So yea I think she jokes and play fights when she’s comfortable on sets…which I think she was on XMen and THG

  9. lucy2 says:

I’m not familiar with that actress, but she is very striking.

  10. right says:

I’d have serious problems with someone punching me in there out of nowhere, it’s just stupid. Sometimes I’ve got this feeling that people are just petting this woman on the head and giving her a pass just because she is a box office draw, never mind she’s acting like an actual asshole now. Having some boundaries is healthy.

  11. Jo 'Mama' Besser says:

What fresh hell kind of joke is that?

    • I Choose Me says:

I don’t get the joke either. Depending on how hard the punch is, getting punched in the crotch really freaking hurts. I wonder if Jen would have found it as funny if Sophie had punched her back.

  12. Kimbers says:

I dont get how Jenny is fun? She seems like she’d suck out your energy, because she wasted all hers punching vaginas. Guess you had to be there.

  13. Jojo says:

    Now that IS funny, Kimbers.

  14. Dr. Funkenstein says:

Um, how? Must have been quite an uppercut.

  15. I really think she was just making a joke. I mean, seriously, who would punch you in the crotch?!

  16. nicegirl says:

I must be too old or too square to get the humor on this one – it is just weird to me.
