Let’s talk about Selena being spotted smooching Orlando Bloom!

  2. Bettyrose says:

It would be bigger news if Jon Stewart was like “Trump’s got some great ideas”

  3. Santia says:

Imma need for Lauryn Hill to get her head out of her arse. Align your energy on your own time. Or better yet, start aligning your energy earlier in the day, so it’s perfectly aligned by the time you have to get on stage.

    • Monie says:

LOL, good advice!! She is disrespecting her fans big time.

    • Tiffany says:

      No…kidding.

I stopped being a fan of Pharrell Williams when he was 2 hours late to a concert several years ago (he was with his band NERD). He has changed his image and stage presence since them but nope, shut it down.

In a media age, when a artist is consistantly late to perform and it is constantly written about, the show you attend will not be any better.

    • HH says:

I don’t like when celebrities give excuses that don’t exist in the real world. If I told my boss I was two hours late because I needed to “align my energy,” they’d tell me to go to HR so I could align myself with a pink slip.

    • doofus says:

yeah, her “explanation” was pretty lame and not very respectful of her fans.

if they stop buying tickets, Lauryn, you can “align your energy” all day long since no one will pay to see you perform.

what also bothered me about her response was the “well, what about all the OTHER shows where I played for two hours, and I didn’t have to play that long?”

first, are you actually saying that buying a ticket for one of your shows is essentially a crap-shoot for whether or not you’ll play? like, it’s the luck of the draw if you get a good, long show or a short, sh*tty one? fans don’t like a gamble like that…

second, I saw the Who this past year. they’re in their 70s, they took the stage ON TIME, and they played for TWO HOURS. like they do AT EVERY SHOW.

she’s talented, but she sounds like she thinks she’s a special snowflake that we should all bow down and thank for gracing us with her music.

We went to a Stones concert in an outdoor stadium on a chilly night with pouring rain. Jagger mentioned that he was cold and Richards shouted at him: “shut up! You’re getting paid!” Jagger laughed, didn’t mention the weather again and put on a good show. Too many performers forget that they are there to work

  4. Carol says:

I think “man-baby” Trump is a pretty decent description of man-baby Trump.

  5. Cran says:

Totally off topic. I’m watching Apocalypse Now and am thinking how I would have loved if Sam Jackson had a role.

Would love a post on movies we would have loved to have seen Sam Jackson cast.

    • I Choose Me says:

I’m going to have to be off topic as well and agree with you since I think Sam Jackson should be in all the things.

It’s the first election I get to vote in this year and I can’t believe it’s been the worst one in several decades. 😪

      I’m so sorry Lonnie! 😔

    • JenB says:

It really is a hold your nose and vote situation for so many people on both sides of the aisle.

    • Robin says:

Pretty much the worst one ever. Over 300 million people and our choice is between H. Clinton and Trump? WTF.

    • Malak says:

Sad, isn’t it! Both high negative candidates. Pick the better of two evils, in your opinion.
If I were a US voter, and being female, I’d vote for HC. She’d be the first female president of the US. Historic!

    • Tina says:

You guys should do what the French did in 2002, which is go into the voting booth with a clothespin (this may be apocryphal, but I’m choosing to believe it because it’s a good story).

When I hear the name “Bran,” my brain actually jumps to the Mercy Thompson books first and I have this weird moment where I think Patty is really moving up by getting her werewolf characters crossed over with GoT. But sadly, the reality is not as fun.

Omg! I went to the Cannes Jazz Festival almost 10 years ago and waited FOUR HOURS to see Lauryn perform! She still hadn’t showed up this long past her scheduled time and my friends and I had to leave to catch the last train back to where we were staying without seeing her perform at all. I still get annoyed thinking about it.

Trump has won West Virginia and Nebraska primaries. If no R candidate is running against him how is it possible? I’m hoping an American out there can explain it to me. Thanks.

    • Jwoolman says:

We have a winner take all system and no voter quorum. The primary ballot also includes other more local issues and candidates. So even if nobody voted for Trump, as the only candidate he still would win. We can’t tell the Parties to go back and try again, as Soviet citizens could and did for example (they were actually voting yes or no on each candidate and a certain voter turnout was required for a valid election).

A large fraction of people in Congress (both Representatives and Senators) actually ran unopposed in the final election and so were basically elected by the people in their Party who nominated them. We have an allegedly two-party system because of the winner take all problem (meaning many people feel unrepresented and other parties don’t have a serious chance) but often function as a one-party system at both the local and national level. If Trump is the only one running, the votes for him are likely to be poor indicators of his ability to get votes in a national election.

It’s possible people still voted for other Republicans if they were still on the ballot, unless the machines delete them immediately once they announce they are no longer running. Also voters can choose to skip the only candidate entirely without marking anyone, although in these days of hacking I suspect that can get tossed into a vote for the hacker’s choice (any vote can be shifted to any candidate by the right simple hack, it’s really quite a nightmare since those machines became so widespread). You have to look at the actual votes cast for a particular candidate to tell if a win means anything, it could be a rather small number. Although there is the phenomenon of people mindlessly marking their ballots because they don’t really know anything about the candidate (it can be difficult to get info about locals in particular). So a certain percentage will mark the name just because it’s the only one there or the only one they vaguely recognize. Many people voting for Trump probably don’t know much detail about his real background or his plans. He’s very loud and very famous, that can be enough.

In my state, the only ones seeing Trump on the ballot would be people who ask for a Republican ballot. You can ask for a Democratic ballot or a non-party ballot (for the other elections and issues) also. But that varies from state to state. Many people don’t bother to vote in primaries (even fewer vote than in the final elections), so really only a small percentage of the population is involved. It has a much ado about nothing feeling to it ultimately.

      • Citresse says:

Thanks Jwoolman for that informative answer. It seems Trump is correct about one thing at least…. the system is apparently “rigged.” Though interestingly enough, the complainant (Trump) of a “rigged” system is “winning!!!.” Maybe Trump should choose Charlie Sheen as his VP?

ps- and through the process of an observer from Canada- (I was born in Manitoba where “it’s forty below at Portage and Main” though for the record, I did spend some quality time in the United States), I’ve actually become quite a supporter of Bernie Sanders. I mean, there’s something so refreshing about a native New Yorker leaving for the simple life in Vermont.

      • Betsy says:

This, to your last paragraph. People loooove to complain – but by and large they can’t be bothered to vote.

  12. Dangles says:

As an egotistical, attention seeking, multimillionaire I would’ve thought Stewart could relate to Trump.
