For the second night in a row, Jessica Chastain was killing it! I loved her butter Armani-not-Versace on Wednesday night, and I absolutely adore this Alexander McQueen look from her second night on the red carpet. I never really associate Chastain with McQueen, although she has worn the label to some big red carpets in this past. I wouldn’t have selected this for her either, but it looks great on her. It could have ended up looking like a fussy, overly bedazzled bridal look. But for some reason, it just works on her. So… did she get a new stylist and new hair and makeup people or what? Because it’s like a whole new Chastain. PS… You know what pulls it all together? The necklace. The necklace was a great choice.
Julianne Moore in Louis “No, Seriously” Vuitton. This is awful. What an awful thing to do to such a lovely woman. The way those bottom flaps look, it seems like the dress was unfinished, like the designer forget to break the tabs open. Her hair’s a mess too, it’s like someone gave her a terrible combover. GIRL, ARE YOU BALD?
Naomi Watts in Michael Kors Pre-Fall 2016. CB loves Naomi’s style, but I get tired of seeing Naomi in all of these pale colors. It feels like she dips into the nude-or-pastel well too often. This dress is perfectly pleasant, and I probably would have liked it more on someone else. Like, Blake Lively would have looked great in this.

OMG Poor Julianne. the bottom of her dress looks like those flappy things in the car wash. I have no idea what they are called but now I have discovered how they inspire Louis Vuitton.

Her body isn’t mentioned as often as some of the more curvy women in Hollywood but she has some killer curves. She has one of the bodies I ‘envy’ in Hollywood.
Naomi’s dress is pretty. Jessica’s is stunning, with a butterfly/moth tribute to her Crimson Peak character. She has really kicked things up several notches.
Agreed, this could have looked overly froofy but overall she’s rocking a slightly 1920s vibe. Love it.

Yeah, I think she’s working with a new stylist. Some of her past looks I’ve thought “Her stylist must have a personal vendetta against her.” Here at Cannes she’s looked as amazing as I always thought she could.

I follow her stylist on Instagram. It’s Elizabeth Stewart, same one she’s had for a long time I think. She’s also Julia Roberts’ stylist…among others.

I think Chastain shines despite the dress. In my view it washes her out but she’s clearly thrilled in it. Watts likes to showcase her killer bod and who can blame her. Moore got punked, her stylist managed to make her homely, who’d think that’s possible?
I actually think Jessica’s dress is not good. What’s that I see underneath at her waistline? Panties? Enormous panties? And that color washes her out completely. And her hair looks so stiff. She’s beautiful, and she looks fine, but the details aren’t doing it for me at all.
Except for the car wash skirt, I don’t mind Julianne’s look. I think her hair is kind of cute. Not her color, but she usually wears something worse.
Agree Naomi looks good but is snooze.
I was cheering for her, until I realized a lot of it was see-through. If it was a solid color with all the pretty beading and glitz, I’d have been 100% sold.
If the upper parts were solid, I’d be back to cheering. But I LOVE how happy she looks wearing it. So that makes up a lot of it anyway.
I don’t like JC’s dress either because the bodice looks too small and the boobs are somewhat cone-ish. It reminds me of Madonna’s style.
I like Julianne’s dress a lot but would like to see it midi length as a day dress.
I’m just not a fan of McQueen, it looks so old fashion instead of classical. Naomi looks too thin so her dress looks like a shapeless shiny nightgown. Julianne’s is my favorite. She looks fresh, stylish and fun. Just my opinion!

Agreed! I think it would be a lovely dress if it weren’t for the sheer bodice. I’m just so done with sheer! And I especially hate any item of clothing that is sheer except for strategic bits to cover a woman’s breasts. I think that look in general is cheesy and burlesque, not to mention just plain silly!
While I agree it washes her out, I actually kinda dig that? I’ve always liked the way very pale colors look on very pale women. It does make them look ghost-like, but the inner goth teenager in me likes it.

I think Jessica’s dress is rather poorly fit across her chest. Also, it’s sheer in a lot of places and I’m so over sheer looks (was never under them to begin with). As for Julianne, at least she gave up the severe middle part for the night? But that truly does have a combover effect. For someone with such beautiful hair, I rarely like how it’s styled.

I like Julianne’s dress but the top doesn’t fit right, it flattens her out. I do think it’s a cool dress, even with the car wash flaps.
Jessica looks amazing! The necklace is a showstopper though it does sort of compete for attention with the ornate dress. She seem to only like diamonds which is a pity as there is a world of beautiful colored gems that would look amazing on her.
In a deeper color, that dress would have been amazing on her. That’s too pale against her pale skin.

I don’t know why you’re so shocked with Jessica Chastain’s sartorial inclinations. I remember the dress she wore to the Oscars when she was nominated for The Help… It was my best-dressed of the night. Absolutely gorgeous dress for a gorgeous woman.
