Kristen Stewart is officially back with Alicia Cargile, they’re at Cannes together

wenn23862872

Here are some photos of Kristen Stewart in Cannes over the weekend. Do you see who is beside her? That’s her ex-girlfriend Alicia Cargile. Alicia got an invite to Cannes, and Alicia walked the carpet (for a moment) with Kristen, at the premiere of American Honey. It was widely believed that Kristen and Alicia broke up months ago, likely late last year. And there might have been some overlap between the end of Kristen’s thing with Alicia and the start of her thing with Soko. Whatever happened between K-Stew and Soko (drama, unwashed hair, social media tantrums), it’s over now and Kristen wants people to know that she’s back with Alicia. Okay, noted! Kristen’s ensemble here is Chanel – I actually like that top, even though I’m sure it costs a thousand dollars and I could find a $5 version at Target.

Meanwhile, Kristen has been saying words for days. She’s successfully managed to avoid saying anything notable about Woody Allen while at Cannes, but Kristen has talked about sexism and more. Some assorted quotes:

Why she bleached her hair: “I just did like five movies over a two-year period, and I think it’s a very good decision for me right now to stop acting in movies for just a moment, and I’ve never really done that, I’ve never changed my appearance. I’ve always really stayed neutral since I was like 10 years old, so I was like, ‘I’m gonna direct a short, and I’m gonna f–k up my hair.’”

The Cannes high-heels policy: “Things have to change immediately. It has become really obvious that if [a man and I] were walking the red carpet together and someone stopped me and said, ‘Excuse me, young lady, you’re not wearing heels. You cannot come in.’ Then [I’m going to say], ‘Neither is my friend. Does he have to wear heels?’ It can work both ways. It’s just like you simply cannot ask me to do something that you are not asking him. I get the black-tie thing but you should be able to do either version—flats or heels.”

How Twilight affected her: “I got really exceedingly famous at 17, and at 17 you don’t really know how to interact with more than a couple of people. You’re trying to figure it out. Who are you? What do I seem like? Can I affect that? Should I think about that? So then when it’s thrust at you and that conversation is owned by the masses and not just you or the closest people to you it kickstarts this weird thought process that is really unnatural…[I] just really shut down. I was so guarded. And that really doesn’t provide a fully- lived life. There are ways to interact with media and there are ways to interact with the public and, beyond that, just human beings. Because those are all very different things.”

[From People & The Guardian]

How quickly she forgets that she did make major hair news when she chopped off her long Bella hair to play Joan Jett. That was MAJOR hair news at the time, and little Twihards were devastated that she cut her hair, because obviously Sparkles didn’t like girls with short hair, right? As I’ve said, I’m fine with current haircut and I’m fine with the bleach job. I just want her to figure out some better way to style her current hair, because this current look is not great.

  1. Locke Lamora says:

This whole relationship triangle is so middle school.

She comes across well in this interview.

Did she also forget she had a half ginger half brown short bob type thing? I think the platinum looks amazing on her, but without the visible roots. I know that’s trendy now, but it looks bad.

    • Esmom says:

I liked what she said, too. Especially her insights about being 17 when the big fame hit. I can’t imagine too many 17 year olds I know handling that kind of situation with a ton of grace and maturity.

I like her bleach job, roots and all, it’s fitting on her.

    • INeedANap says:

I was rooting for Alicia to make a comeback, I think she is more Kristen’s speed. And I love her jacket with the silk lapels, I want one!

  2. Catwoman says:

I thoughts he was with Sean Penn’s younger brother in that header pic. No snark; I truly did!

    • mee says:

thought the same! they’re like madonna and sean penn, redux, down to the bleached blond and jewelry.

  3. Pri says:

This Chanel outfit is horrid, really sad seeing the current state of the House under Karl’s rule.

    • holly hobby says:

I know right? The dress makes her look like she’s carrying some weight in the middle – that’s not true but that’s the illusion.

  4. Whatabout says:

You can’t wear flats to Cannes film festival? My feet ache for these women.

    • susiecue says:

Yeah that is some sexist bullshit. Reminds me of P. Diddy’s parties where “ladies must be waxed”

      • Who ARE these people? says:

What? Really? If that was true the gentlemen should have had to be embalmed.

    • susanne says:

      Very strange and sexist.
Buuuuut, Kristin has been wearing Louboutin. (spelling, sorry). If I’m forced to wear heels, that would be my choice as well. The marble ones were out of this world!
      Still, sexist and awful.

    • manta says:

Yes you can. As did in the last couple of years Uma Thurman, Charlotte Rampling, Isabella Rossellini, Jane Birkin, french actress Sandrine Kiberlain, french director Agnès Varda just to name a few.
Inès de la Fressange walks the red carpet every year in flats, that’s practically her trademark there.

      • Bridget says:

You’re actually not supposed to. A group of older women were actually turned away last year, specifically because they were wearing flats the dress code asked for heels.

      • manta says:

No, the dress code doesn’t ask for heels. Thieery Frémaux, then head of the festival last year answered this polemic on twitter.
“La rumeur selon laquelle le Festival exige des talons hauts pour les femmes est infondée” Translation: the rumor stating that the Festival demands high heels for women is unfounded”. He mentioned what was written on invitation: “Smoking, tenue de soirée” meaning “Tuxedo, evening gowns” or “black tie event”

Those women last year probably dealt with overzealous employees.
As I said, numerous women over the years have walked this carpet in flats without any official gasping over it.

    • hewow says:

i’m thinking those are kristen’s flats alicia’s carrying

      • Twix says:

Considering that those flats appear to be a pair of Vans, I guess I can understand why Cannes has the “heels only” rule. Yes, it’s sexist, but if women are going to wear tennies on the red carpet the minute the rule is done away with, then I’d frankly rather keep it in place.

  5. GoodNamesAllTaken says:

She looks happy, which is nice to see. I don’t like her hair, but I understand the occasional need for a drastic change.

  6. Jegede says:

    That was quick.

I have never seen Twilight or anything like that, so I don’t know the dynamics real or on celluloid of the players involved, but I didn’t think Stewart did the red carpet with her partners.

    • Birdix says:

Me neither re Twilight. But clearly I’m here too often as I just felt irrationally outraged on Loie Fuller’s behalf!

  7. toni says:

She only complains about sexism when it concerns her otherwise she’s a misogynist herself. She said she doesn’t want to talk about wage gap in Hollywood or the OscarsoWhite debate, and then the defense of Allen while attacking women for daring to judge her for having an affair with a married man.

    • JenniferJustice says:

All of this and more. I find her hypocratical and extremely self-serving with her “beliefs” and angles. It’s pretty obvious she chooses to justify wrongs if the wrongs or working with those that wrong – get her ahead. She’s not going to oppose anything that might make for needed change in her own life. Those aren’t even beliefs so much as stances that elevate her career or excuse the ridiculous of her own personal life. And I’m tired of hearing that she’s young and discovering who she is. She is an adult, but continues to behave like a teenager. She isn’t finding herself at this point. She’s simply an immature flaky woman with little regard for anything or anyone that doesn’t directly benefit her. And her acting is flat and one-dimensional.

    • Maria says:

pretty much all celeb feminists are like that. they are so narcissitic they make feminism all about themselves.

    • Bridget says:

High heels are really what you’re going to make your stand on? Way to throw yourself into the important issues, Kristen.

  8. anniefannie says:

I thought Alicia was much more suited to her lifestyle. I think Kristen likes low key, laid back and low profile. While Soke was probably an adventure it probably was an exhausting one…

    • Santia says:

I still think she’s missing a sensitivity chip (shout out to JA) for bringing her new/ex girlfriend to a place she knows Soko will be. Especially since Soko was on social media crying about what a cheater she was/is.

    • Carol says:

Sadly, I think you are correct. Soko was used. Well hopefully Soko will find love with some one else soon and the melodrama can begin again. I’m glad Soko’s getting the fame that her outfits justly deserve. On a side note, although I think KStew is smarter than Sarah Palin (my carrot is smarter than Palin), her answers sound just as jumbled and nonsensical as Palin’s. Half the time I have no clue what KStew is trying to say.

      • Mac says:

I think it was the other way around. Soko some music coming out. Kristen made her name more well known, with certain people. Soko had to know how low key Kristen lives. Soko is the exact opposite. A more sensitive woman would have toned down. No sympathy for Soko still running her mouth. It is her choice, but why do it, act like an adult.

  9. Easypeasy123 says:

I think the Soko thing was all manufactured for publicity

    • vanessa says:

Me too. And I think the same thing about alicia.

    • Starkiller says:

You are 100% correct. There’s no possible way Soko was ever dating her. It simply isn’t possible. Im utterly gobsmacked at the number of people who apparently lead such a sheltered life as to fall for this farce.

      • Leah says:

Ha you guys are funny, however you should watch it so you don’t start to sound like the crazy twihards who thinks she and Rob are married with babies…

    • Anname says:

When Soko called her a f-cking cheater, was that part of the publicity plan too?

      • Easypeasy123 says:

Yup it was! They were obviously putting on a show with buildup leading up to Cannes. They both had films there. They were making a spectacle of themselves for the paps on social media. They broke up before Cannes and everyone has been waiting for the drama. If it had been real Soko would’ve totally lost her shit.

      • Anname says:

There is no way that Kristen has a PR plan to be called a cheater again, I don’t believe that for a hot second. She and Soko had a crazy fling, Soko took it too seriously and Kristen bailed (cheated per Soko). That’s my take on it. Kristen doesn’t need that kind of publicity, she has 2 films at Cannes and is getting plenty of attention.

      • Easypeasy123 says:

being a cheater is way better than being a woody Allen apologist. With her love life drama people aren’t bringing him up as much. Why would grumpy k stew make such a display with just a fling? Why would she let her fling post her on snapchat like she did? This was totally orchestrated

  10. LizLemonGotMarried says:

That skirt is atrocious. I like the top, but the skirt is unflattering, and I HATE the fabric. I don’t usually have very strong feelings about fashion, but that skirt is giving me some very negative bridesmaid separates flashbacks.

    • benchwarmer says:

I’m going to preface my comment by saying I really like KStew, her new hair and her style. But that skirt is making her look like she has a food baby. She has a good figure but this skirt is not doing her any favors. Also all black ensemble…What would Anna Wintour say?

  11. grace says:

She already talked about Allen when she said that she didn’t know the victims so it was OK work with him. One of the dumbest women in Hollywood

    • Aren says:

That’s atrocious, I can’t believe she got away with saying something to offensive.

    • Mac says:

She actually said enough people have made up stories and lies about her and she didn’t know anything about any of the people involved. So she doesn’t know what the truth is. If you want to prosecute some one for child sexual assault prosecute. I don’t like the man. I do believe something hideous happened, but the man was not arrested charged or prosecuted. I think the prosecutor involved was the problem. He should have pushed for something.

  12. Insomniac says:

Maybe this is the first time in a while that she’s changed her hair just for herself and not for a role. I know I’m probably alone, but I’m liking her current look a lot. And yay for Alicia on the red carpet.

  13. Luca76 says:

Sorry to say but as much as I think it’s great that she’s being more open. The way she’s doing it comes off as a nasty manipulative jab at Soku.

  14. Ctkat1 says:

Alicia stands on the carpet holding Kristen’s purse and her slip-ons in a plastic bag. For that she flew to Cannes.

    • Tiffany says:

Her hands are in her pockets. The guy next to her are carrying them.

      • Alicia has her right hand in her pocket and is holding the shoes and purse in her left. The guy is Kristen’s bodyguard and would not and is not holding her shoes. I agree that in this whole triangle Soko comes across as a fruit cake, Kristen comes across as manipulative, Alicia as a doormat. But who know, maybe Kristen and Alicia have an “understanding”. I can’t imagine an ex-/girlfriend being so servile after being dumped in such a public way.

    • Erica_V says:

She is her assistant tho right? Or at least she used to be. So it makes sense she’d stand there and hold her stuff.

  15. Elisa the I. says:

I like Alicia’s look a lot! Great style!

  16. OriginallyBlue says:

I still don’t understand how she has a contract with Chanel and looks so messy and undone all the time.

    • Pix says:

Yes, this girl is messy. Messy drama. BTW her eyebrows look terrible.

    • The Original G says:

Oh, I think Chanel is trying to bring some grit and counterculture into their brand or it will collapse from its own gravitas. Young women need a medium like her to but into their new products.

  17. Annika says:

I don’t mind the blonde, & she’s young, she should be having fun w/ her hair.
Maybe she bleached it to get away w/ not washing it? 😉
I know when my roots are freshly highlighted it can conceal oily hair at the scalp.

    • Lex says:

I found that the bleaching also dries my hair a little so that it uses more of the natural oils – less congealing, longer between washes. Win win.

      • Veronica says:

Same experience here. Dry shampoo is your friend if you need it between washes, and a regular oil treatment helps. Sometimes you also just have to give it time to recover.

  18. Truthful says:

I think that doing her first red carpet with Alicia in these conditions highlights some pettiness of her character (or lack of) , what a chil-ish and bitchy move to do: after years together you chose the Festival where your immediate ( and extremely) ex-girlfriend is attending to , to do so???

That’s a super drama inducing move!

If I were Alicia I would watch my back! Such a loud F-U to Soko means that things are not that over in general, otherwise (if you really are over) you try to smooth things in general..

So watch out Alicia… next step won’t be so nice for you! And you are already holding purse and flats in a plastic bag… man ! watch out big time girl!!!!

    • Gatita says:

No one looks good here. KStew looks manipulative and bitchy, Soko comes off like a bunny boiler and Alicia is behaving like a doormat. Oy.

    • sleepless says:

According to HKN and her crew she has walked the red carpet with two others. They have the nerve to use Tom Sturridge as an example when he was her co-star in OTR. And he was there for Rob, not her. Then they show her with Taylor at one of her premiers. Yeah I am sure they are hooking up! LOL

      • Truthful says:

@sleepless: in what universe that comment was made..I am sure it makes a lot of sens for you…but otherwise know that it doesn’t…at least to people interacting in this universe.

        ps: get some sleep!

  19. Josefina says:

Am I alone in still thinking KStew is a horrid actress? I watched Clouds of Sils Maria and Still Alice and while her acting was undeniably much better than in Twilight, she was still wooden as hell.

    • maria says:

She has no talent. Her acting is wooden and flat.

    • Vivianne says:

Almost everybody think she’s an awful actress

      • Josefina says:

On here, maybe. I don’t follow KStew posts so I’ll take your word for it. But everywhere else, even in critics circles, I keep reading raves about her performances. And I just don’t get it.

      • mia girl says:

Yeah, me either Josefina. When I watch her latest movies I don’t see anything but more of the same. I feel like it’s an Emperor’s New Clothes type situation.

      • threetoedsloth says:

I’m with you, Josefina, except that I actually don’t think she’s completely terrible. In my view she’s okay, but nothing special. I watched Clouds after reading all the rave reviews expecting to be blown away and all I could think was “Is that it?”. Meanwhile, the critics seem to love her in just about everything, which I find baffling!

  20. Cindy says:

I have this naive childish daydream that one of these woody Allen actors who pride themselves on toughness and rebellion *cough* kristen would reconsider and publicly state they made an error in judgement working with a child abuser. I just can’t feel excited about anything Kristen has to say about sexism….that goes for the other actors too. They all just talk about stuff and make a f*ck load of money. Really. That’s all they do. And what would it cost them to say something? Nothing really. They would still be wealthy and they would still get work. So yeah for for you Kristen you brought you gf to Cannes. I just don’t care.

  21. Nola says:

As much as I like Kristen, I don’t understand why she won’t allow herself to be single. She’s been in a relationship since she was like 15. And every single relationship overlaps into the next.

I wish that she would’ve taken this time to be by herself, instead of jumping back into a relationship.

The fact she can’t be alone makes me feel like she won’t be able to settle down.

  22. Leah says:

Its pretty strange to do be so public about getting back with an ex just shortly after you have broken it off with someone else you were extremely public about. I know people said Soko is a drama queen. But this kind of behaviour from Kristen leaves me to believe that she is a major contributor to all the drama.

    • Dana says:

It’s a problem many celebrities have. They don’t know how to take breaks after a relationship ends. All of their relationships are rebounds, which is why they never last.

  23. senna says:

If I were Alicia in this situation, I would feel used. How must that conversation have gone down? “Hey, want to come to Cannes to walk the red carpet with me five minutes after I broke up with Soko, who is also at Cannes?”

I don’t think the way to build relationships is to flaunt your relationship status on the red carpet when you’ve been back together for a few days. I mean, maybe Kristen feels she needs to underline the legitimacy of her relationships with women by being out and public with them, which is understandable, but this feels not very sensitive to anyone’s feelings and, at worst, very petty.

  24. madi says:

There’s no way she could win it. If she hadn’t had Alicia at the biggest film festival with her, people would be saying she’s hiding and ashamed, protecting her career etc. Now some people saying she’s flaunting it.
Besides her friends have movies there too and she was very excited to see those. They have many friends not from industry there for support. It would be really strange to have your other friends over there but not your girlfriend.

    • Anname says:

Madi – She can win by not overlapping her girlfriends. It’s never a good look to cheat on one girl and then have the ex walk a carpet with you a few days later (first time ever she has a date on the carpet by the way). If she hadn’t hooked up with Soko, I think most people would be happy for her finally being comfortable enough to have her girlfriend there. But this way it just seems tone deaf.

  25. Dlo says:

How do we know they are”together “? Maybe they stayed good friends.

  26. Meg D says:

Are the stans freaking out, or are they still insisting Alicia is KS’s “cousin” who watches her precious babies for her to protect their privacy while she’s taking time off from baking bread to go be a movie star.

Because God knows if word got out a starlet was in a heterosexual relationship it would destroy her life.

  27. Lotta says:

Maybe it was Alicia who dumped her, and then when Soki and Kristen was starting to seach other Alicia got jelous and decided to take Kristen back. We never will know, but why do we assume that is Kristen who gets to pick, choose, and dump everyone.
