When I first read the headline “Alexis Bledel Welcomes Son With Vincent Kartheiser,” I honestly thought that we knew she was pregnant at some point and I had merely forgot about it, which happens more often than you would think! Honestly, some celebrity pregnancy announcements sort of blur together, especially when those announcements come from celebrities that we don’t see that often. So I thought “Oh, damn, I forgot about that.” Turns out, they never announced anything pregnancy or baby-related. Alexis was able to keep her pregnancy under wraps throughout 2015!! Because yes, she gave birth “last Fall” and we’re just finding out about it now.
Surprise! Gilmore Girls star Alexis Bledel has welcomed her first child, a baby boy, with husband Vincent Kartheiser, E! News has learned. A rep for the actress confirmed the exciting news and added that the couple’s son was born last Fall. The couple, who met when they played lovers on the AMC hit show Mad Men, tied the knot in a top-secret ceremony back in 2014, kept both the pregnancy and the birth under wraps.
But it turns out that Scott Patterson—who was interviewed by Glamour ahead of the upcoming Netflix revival of Gilmore Girls—happened to spill the beans about Alexis becoming a mom for the very first time.
“It was great to see her. She’s really blossomed as a woman and now she’s a proud new mother and married and happy,” he told the magazine. “I remember her as an 18-year-old kid, fresh out of college coming into Hollywood and being a little overwhelmed. She’s just the most likeable, intelligent person and adorable human being. She hasn’t changed at all. She looks the same.”
He continued, “We’re comparing notes because my son is about a year and a half older than her young son. I’m showing her photos and videos and what to expect. We’re just really enjoying each other’s company.”
Alexis’s guest role on Mad Men was a great part of the show, and they really had so much chemistry. Of course, I always thought he had a lot of chemistry with his on-screen wife played by Allison Brie as well. Anyway, Alexis and Vincent managed to keep a pregnancy, birth and the first eight months of their baby’s life out of the news. Your move, Eva Mendes!

I know neither of them are huge A Listers but it does show that if you want to keep things quiet, you can. Same with Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes.
Absolutely! I don’t think pregnant celebs should go into hiding or anything, but pregnancy announcements and newborn photo spreads in PEOPLE are far from necessary.

They just had their brooklyn apt in some magazine. Therefore, reporters knew and were asked to keep it quiet.
PEOPLE featured their Brooklyn apartment after Alexis and Vincent sold it. I don’t think they had reporters over for a visit and photo shoot.
If you follow the link on People it takes you to Variety which states at the end of the article that the couple probably looked for a more family friendly place.
Did Variety know they had a baby? It’s possible, but the article I think you are referring to says Variety pulled their information from the listing and online sources, aka they weren’t invited over. I think it’s possible Variety wrote they were looking for a family home because they are a young married couple.
It is very unlikely that reporters did not know she was pregnant and didn’t know that she had a baby. there are no pictures of the bedroom.
Not sure if the paps in NY are into spreading your biz. As a NYer I know we just aren’t that into invading the lives of Celebrities. I have had dinner in a restaurant with Richard Gere. We all knew he was there he was seated in the middle of the restaurant and if you didn’t see him, you heard him cuz he was loud. But no one asked for an autograph.
Also Eva Mendes was paped in dec 2015 with a bag hiding her stomache at an SNL party. Yet no stories of pregnancy until months after that.
They are D/C-Listers so it’s not surprising that nobody knew. It’s a lot easier to keep things quiet when nobody really cares. That being said most celebrities announce pregnancy and engagements. If they didn’t most people wouldn’t know until much later.
They may not be Vikander and Fassy but I’d hardly call them D/C list.
They’ve both starred on two acclaimed television shows, far from D list. You act like they were on Dancing with the Stars or something.
While I am not a Tom Cruise fan by ANY MEANS, I’ve always felt he is living proof that the paparazzi photos can be avoided no matter how A list you are. He may have fallen from grace over the last few years, but you never have seen pics of him at the farmers market in bad shoes (cough cough JG). In short, it can be done, you just have to NOT CALL THE PAPARAZZI when you go out to dinner. Or hang out at pap hot spots. Just saying.
While I agree that it’s possible for celebs to lead low key lives, I’m not sure that Tom Cruise is the best example. He leads such an insular life. I mean I can’t really imagine him doing his own grocery shopping or going to gym with the plebs etc., so there aren’t that many opportunities to photograph him when he’s not working.
That said I’m sure there are some high-profile celebs who manage to do normal things without being papped all the time.
I’m glad that Vincent and Alexis were able to keep things private.
Tom has publicists who keep him out of tabloids. When you see him, it’s deliberate. That has always been his policy. He is one of the most staged celebrities in modern times. Always has been. Unsurprising given that his first publicist trained in the old hollywood studio system, and his current lot trained with her. It’s never been worth the lawsuits and publications being banned for any tabloid to pursue him outside the dictated parameters.
The only time this failed was the years between the 2 sets of publicists when he fired the longstanding old school publicist in favour of his sister. Cue jumping coaches, unfortunate interviews with Matt Lauer, negative information about CO$ etc.
As soon as he signed with new set of publicists, all of it went away, but the damage was done.
Btw: under the tenure of his former publicists, even if those interviews and coach jumping had taken place, the public wouldn’t have found out about it. She exercised that level of control and power that she would have pulled them. Very British Royal heir in that sense.

Yep, that was my first thought. Those who claim over and over they don’t care about fame but manage to get tabloid-y headlines show just how disingenuous they are. If they really don’t want the publicity, anyone other than an A-lister can keep their private lives out of paps way, by not going to the places they camp out.

Congrats to both! I was never a Gilmore girls fan girl but I just finished watching mad men and never knew they where a couple. Love Vincent as Pete Campbell and was amazed to learn he shaved his head to portray the aging process over time with his character.
He was truly amazing in Mad Men, in pretty much any scene he played he just knocked it out of the park. I feel like he was really underrated.
He is an absolutely terrific actor. Very underrated. I hope he has a career reminiscent of Steve Buscemi. He made Pete Campbell so dimensional!! It’s a testament to Vincent that he could not only make the audience hate him so much while still being so engaging and also then making people feel sympathy for him! I hated Pete so much at certain points but I couldn’t help but keep warming up to him time after time and wanting a relative happiness for him in the end. He and Alison Brie were freaking great as a couple on MM. I gotta go back and rewatch that show because it’s incredible

Argentinian, she is kinda pretty Open about it and how this typecasted her to anglo roles cause she doesn’t give ” LATINA” off but to me, as a fellow ” not Obvious Latina” I see it, Argentinians, Chileans and Uruguayans by and large tend to have a Lot of European immigration, lots of Italians/Germans
I’m Argentinian and most of our population is European because of the massive waves of inmigration we had during the Spanish Empire, and before, during and after the World Wars. That’s why we are so white compared to others. Mostly everyone has Italian/Spanish ancestry, followed by British, Irish, German and French. Alexis looks like a typical blue-eyed argentine woman.
However, in a couple of years our ehtnicity will change due to the newest wave of illegal inmigration: mainly Chinese and Koreans, and a lot of other latin inmigrants from Paraguay, Bolivia, Perú, etc etc, and Africans.
That’s one of those facts I keep learning and then forgetting, and then I get mildly surprised all over again.

Is a spoiler at this point to comment on how weird it was that Pete & Trudy were the one couple who rode off (well, flew on a jett) into happily ever after? I still have very mixed feelings about that. Trudy could do so much better and Pete didn’t deserve such a fabulous wife, but who begrudges people happiness?
I found it rather satisfying, actually… at least a chance at redemption. I also read something pointing out he would then have to deal with all the hijackings of the 1970s. Wouldn’t that be a fun spin-off?

I actually thought it was satisfying too. For as much of a jerk he could he always had something underneath the surface that was so much that he put on. His whole ad men character/rich kid with crappy parents schtick was only part of him. I felt like he actually had real growth and Trudy did too. If there’s any couple that really saw into each other’s inner essence and couple possibly make it, it was them

I was trying to look that up. From her imdb page, it looks like she dropped out after one year as a film major at NYU Tisch School when she got the role on GG. He must have meant she attended college, not graduated (although it looks like she did go to acting/ modeling school).
