How terrible is Sophie Turner’s InStyle UK editorial? Awful, or just boring?

I’m calling it, you guys. Sophie Turner is one of the loveliest young actresses out there, but magazines have absolutely no idea what to do with her. Sophie’s been doing more magazine covers and profiles this year because of Game of Thrones plus X-Men: Apocalypse (she plays the young Jean Grey), and in every editorial, something is screwed up. Usually it’s her hair, sometimes it’s her movement, and in the June issue of InStyle UK, it’s everything. She looks like she just woke up from a three-day bender and threw on some clothes she found on the floor. Such an awful thing to do to such a pretty young woman. Anyway, here are some highlights from Sophie’s InStyle UK interview:

How she struggles with fame: “That’s probably the thing I’ve struggled with the most. At first, it was the character [Sansa Stark]; people hating on her because she was a 13-year-old girl, and she should have a smart head on her shoulders and make good decisions. But, at the end of the day – blinded by love – she didn’t. When people started to know my name, as well as the character’s name, that was kind of difficult. From 16 to when I turned 19, they were quite hard years. You’re in the prime of puberty; your body is changing, your face is changing, and people still saw me as that 13-year-old girl, with no body, and thought that’s how I should look forever. So, growing up and having my body transform, and my hormones, and people watching and commenting on that – that was tricky. Even my friends were having a hard time with that stuff, but when people are printing photos of your bad skin, that’s really difficult.”

On being self-critical: “This is going to be the worst X-Men so far, because I’m in it. When you’re outside something, you think, “That is amazing, I would love to be in that.” But when you are in it, you think, “Is this going to be any good?’”

The end of Thrones: “I kind of had a bit of a panic attack the other night as I was thinking about it. It’s like graduating from high school, but it doesn’t feel like a graduation, because I don’t have a university to go onto that’s bigger and better.”

She won’t date actors: “I’ve never dated anyone who I didn’t know before or who’s in the industry. I think that’s quite a conscious decision because the lifestyles wouldn’t work. This profession is so different to any other; the going away for long amounts of time – I think it would just be really difficult. If you meet on a job, it’s amazing. You have five months together and it’s incredible. Then, once it’s over, suddenly one of you is shooting in Australia and the other one is shooting in Spain, and you never know when you’re going to see each other again, but at least you both understand it.”

[From InStyle UK]

She’s 20 years old, which is pretty young to swear off dating actors forever. And remember, Kit Harington is now dating Rose Leslie, and they met on Thrones. And I think the explanation she gives for why things won’t work out – that your schedules take you away from each other – is also the reason why so many actors do date other actors, because they understand the lifestyle. Anyway, Sophie seems to have a good head on her shoulders and I hope she keeps on keeping on. And I hope that magazine editors and stylists figure out what to do with her.

Ugh, she looks like a 70s housewife at a swingers party. She’s waaay too young for this styling.

    • Sigh... says:

I was thinking “70’s mail-order bride ad” realness.

      Again, way too young.

    • SNAP says:

She’s pretty, i wish she smiled in the pics though. Resting bitch face does her no favors. If she smiled it would take the focus away from the mediocre clothing and roach coach background.

  2. Incredulous says:

Good God, I dress better than that and, when it comes to being a fashion plate, I’m Tupperware.

    • Laura says:

Oh my, I love your comment!

And the did just a terrible job styling her. So boring, and almost creepy?

  3. Bros says:

gross candids at an old motel room with skeevy carpet, communist bedding, and a body stocking? she looks like FBI photos of a human trafficking case, not an editorial spread in a fashion mag.

    • MC2 says:

It reminds me of those horrible American Apparel ads.

    • mayamae says:

What in the world is communist bedding?

      • susanne says:

I dunno, but I love it. The phrase, that is.

      • Egla says:

It’s a military style bed with no fluffy colorful stuff on it just like the photo. I had one for a good part of my life. The first time I saw something fuchsia i was 10 i think and I thought I discovered colors finally . Lol

  4. Payapa says:

This looks like some stupid photos you ask your friend to take for you using your mobile when you are bored and has nothing better to do, I mean, what the actual f.

But I like the cover and I love love love Sophie.

  5. Jenns says:

She looks like Cersi on that cover.

  6. Lucy says:

Agree about the editorial, and also about Sophie being awesome!! She’ll have plenty of time to worry about boyfriends, though (but I’m sure she’s not exactly lacking in candidates).

  7. CornyBlue says:

She looks a rough 35 god how do you mess up such a pretty face

  8. Margo S. says:

Whoever did that styling should be fired. She is stunning and looks like crap in these pics.

  9. Locke Lamora says:

She does sound like a lovely girl, too bad she’s such a bad actress, the worst on GoT, along with Kit and Emilia.

    • Chinoiserie says:

I strongly disagree, she had always been great and lately expecially. Kit was bad at the beginning but has improved a lot and Emilia is not a physical actor and his forced to act like a girl trying to act like a Queen but her eyes are really expressive.

      • Cecelina says:

Nah, Sophie Turner is a bit below average in acting. She lack of facial expression and her mono tone voice of her is cringe worthy. Season 6, her acting seem to be better but she overacting it and it come off fake as f*ck. Emilia is terrible. Kit is definitely not the worst, his first few seasons are bad but he improved since then.

Yeesh, InStyle don’t spend more than you have to on lighting, makeup, or that Red Roof Inn motel room. As least her interview is good.
