Mel Gibson isn’t wasting time sneaking around with his new mistress. Now that his wife of 28 years, Robyn, is divorcing him he’s decided to go public with his new girlfriend, 39-year-old Russian singer Oksana Grigorieva. Mel and Oksana showed up hand in hand last night at the premiere of X Men: Wolverine.
It was just last week that the media finally figured out which Oksana Mel was cheating with. The then-unknown dark-haired woman was photographed with him on set in Boston last November, and again at his estate in Costa Rica in March. Outlets were guessing at which Oksana Mel was stepping out with, and she was finally identified as Timothy Dalton’s ex. Then the news came out that Mel had purchased a house for Oksana and her 11 year-old son from her relationship with Dalton. Mel’s wife and seven kids were said to be devastated to learn about his secret “second family.”
Now we know that Mel isn’t going to hide Oksana away any longer. This was probably the smartest way to stop the gossip, but it must have been very painful for Robyn to see. Rumor has it that he was unfaithful to his wife for years, and I would bet that Robyn put up with Mel’s infidelity until she learned that he was serious with this latest woman. It is said to have hit her “like a ton of bricks” to learn that her husband had purchased a home for his mistress.
Mel stands to lose half of his estimated one billion fortune in his divorce, which could go down as the highest settlement in Hollywood history.

It is such a shame because he had so much potential. I love Passions of Christ. I think it is a great movie and I am so glad someone made it. I really had a lot of respect for him that he took the chance to do something so controversial, and now that all of this has happened I think he made it for the money. He was smart enough to know that there is a lot of money in religion and he capitalized on that. I really feel like he is such a hypocrit. Divorce is a sin plain and simple, Jesus specifically states it more than once (Matthew 19:1-12, Mark 10:11-12). The funny thing is that in Matthew 5:31-32 Jesus does say, “But I say to you that everyone who divorces his wife, except on the ground of sexual immorality, makes her commit adultery, and whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery.” He has been so much holier than the rest of us pions. I am guessing he thinks that it is all Robyn’s fault because she is the one who filed for divorce, not him even though it says specifically she can divorce him on the grounds of sexual immorality without being considered an adulterer(if she decides at some point to remarry). That is how my dad acted when he and my mom divorced. He treated us like garbage for years but she is the one who filed for divorce so she broke up our family! Complete and utter bullshit!

Supposedly Robyn is pretty insecure and controlling herself but maybe she became that way because of his adultery and perhaps other lack of respect for her? Even if she has some emotional issues, I suspect’s that no excuse for the disrespect he has shown her with his reported serial adultery if it is true. Mel seems like a childish, entitled man to me. How I wish I had not enabled him by going to his movies and contributing to his wealth and status.
GimmeABreak, even if she was the worst person in the world I would expect someone who made a movie like Passions to have a little more respect for the situation. Showing off your new toy before you have resolved your issues, especially when there are seven kids involved, is sad and disrespectful. I am from the school of thought that you rise above a bad situation. I try to do what is right in a situation as opposed to an eye for an eye tooth for a tooth crap.
Bros I understand what you are saying but at the same time what the Lord wants for us unfortunately goes against our concupiscence. There are so many times in a day when I start to unconsciously think something mean or nasty about something or another without meaning to and I have to tell myself so stop and get with it, and apologize for the Lord because it certainly breaks the greatest commandment to love your neighbor. No one is perfect, and I do not expect it from Mel, but to be as public as he is about Catholicism (and I am a practicing Catholic too so I am not criticizing that) and the rant about Jews causing all of the world’s wars, then to behave like he is above having priciples somehow makes him worse to me, than the average person who will fall short of what is expected of them by the Lord, no matter what they do.
On a side note, I think Passions, although bloody, is a very accurate picture of what Jesus could have endured. I think people are quick to assume Mel exagerated the situation. I assume Jesus was probably treated worse even than what we saw in that movie. No it was not easy on the eyes, but should it be?

UK paper is reporting she’s pregnant, and she’s telling friends she is. Interesting she had Timothy Dalton’s baby when he was 53, and if pregnancy rumors are true, having Mel’s baby when he will be about same age.

While I disagree with any of the religious slants you put on this, Michelle, I do agree with you that it was tacky for him to parade the “other” woman for the world to see. What his kids must think is heartbreaking. Pure selfishness, plain and simple.
As for his wife being controlling and insecure, Mel has been reported as cheating on her constantly over the course of their marriage. That would make any woman who loves her husband turn controlling over them and feel insecure that your hubby is sticking it to other women freely. She is a saint for sticking around for so long, if earlier accounts are true.
I put a religious slant in my comments because 1) Catholicism is (I believe) the only religion that does not believe in divorce then remarriage (and will not give Eucharist without an annulment)and he has been outspoken about his Catholic affiliation, and 2)he is the one who made The Passion and therefore I would expect more from someone that IMO depicted Christ and His final day so eloquently. That said you do not have to agree Lisa. I myself had more respect for Mel at one time and his fall from grace over the last few years has been that much more disturbing to me because I saw him as almost like a father/role model type figure. I associate him with my faith and he has unfortunately become a Catholic icon to the detriment of the Catholic church.

Good lord! Compare these pics of Oksana to the ones taken of her when she was dating Dalton. She looks like a completely different person now! Last week I thought they got the ID wrong or they were two separate women. Heavens, is there any part of Oksana that’s real any more? Her lips, her hair, her body, she’s done over the works! I thought she looked really beautiful when she was with Dalton. There was no need for all this artificial intervention. Now she looks odd. Still pretty mind you, but …. odd.

I still like the guy. Maybe he’s an asshole in his personal life, but as an actor, and director, I like him, and I’ll go and see his movies.
It is very possible that M is a “DID” (drunk in denial) or better known as an alcoholic. This is a disease and as with any disease if not treated, will get worse. So worse that it will result in a “bottoming out” as they call it in AA. Many times it takes a DID to go through this stage until they finally come to terms with the fact that they have to make a total life change in order to survive and have a happly life. M has not “bottomed out” I believe. When he does it will probably be another “full blown tabloid story”.
As much as it may seem to be the most embarrassing and humbling experience one could go through, it is the light at the end of the tunnel. The start of seeing oneself in a new and astonishing atonement.
I give so much credit to any 12 step program. The steps must be completed and the “one day at a time” approach is invaluable.
M may have had to attend a program for his DUI and possibly only served the mandatory meetings. He needs to go further to find out why he is a DID and get a sponsor. If he feels as he has aged and not the young superstar he once was that he is less, he needs to share this with his peers (AA members).
It is never too late to save a lost soul.
I think everyone is over reacting. Is he the first guy in the history of mankind to leave his wife? Did he start any wars under false pretenses? Did he send over 4,000 US soldiers to their deaths in a stupid war? Did he steal from anyone? I love America but when everyone is so selfrighteous, I want to throw up.
