Eva Longoria on Victoria Beckham: ‘She was amazing; a true bridesmaid’

Eva Longoria attended the screening of her new movie, Lowriders, at the LA Film Fest Wednesday night. She wore this LBD with folds of black satin running down the right side. She also wore dynamite studded Alaia sandals so I focused my eyes on those and didn’t bother with the dress and its elaborate bed ruffle. Her sun-kissed look was a result of having just landed from her honeymoon only hours before the red carpet. As this was her first official outing since getting hitched to José Antonio Bastón, folks wanted to hear all about her wedding in Mexico. Fortunately, Mrs. Longoria Baston was happy to gush about how “magical” it was and her amazing bridesmaid Victoria Beckham.

Eva Longoria is still on cloud nine after her Mexico City wedding to José Antonio Bastón. But the 41-year-old actress is also still trying to piece together moments from her big day!

Longoria told reporters how her new husband filled the evening with surprises.

“There were so many memorable moments,” she said. “Then the tequila kind of blurred it all! But [Pepe] surprised me throughout the night – a surprise singer, a surprise video, a surprise this. So every half hour there was another surprise that I was like, ‘I can’t handle any more! My heart is going to explode!'”

Victoria Beckham was also on hand, in attendance with husband David. The 42-year-old singer did double duty, as a bridesmaid and designer of Longoria’s multiple wedding looks.

“She was amazing,” Longoria dished. “I changed in the middle of the night and she changed me. She was a true bridesmaid – unzipped my dress, took it off, put on the next dress. She was like ‘Let’s go!’ That was fun.”

As will surprise no one here, I would give my eye teeth to have Vicky B as my Matron of Honor. I mean, my brother did a great job but I’d have assigned him to the guestbook to have Vicks fluffing my train and checking my teeth for lipstick. Apparently Eva had to talk Victoria into designing the gown because Victoria doesn’t design wedding dresses. Once she warmed to the idea, they both had a lot of fun with it. Eva told ET, “It was so much fun because when I was in London, Victoria pulled out every single dress she’s ever made and we got to like pick that top with this bottom but that zipper but this color but that fabric… I just felt like a little girl in the best wardrobe ever.” I really like the dress Eva married in, maybe Victoria will consider expanding her line?

In slightly-related news, Eva kept posting pics of her feet from the wedding and honeymoon. I can’t take a selfie to save my life but I can photograph the hell out my feet – can we make “footsies” a thing?

They both have SO much makeup on in those wedding pics. They must have looked like a plastered wall IRL!

‘Tis the trend. In a few years, today’s brides will cringe as surely as my mother did about her weird ’70s sleeves and wig looking hair.

I’m getting married in the fall: makeup trials have been mixed bag. But I learned key words: you “want to look good in photos” means getting this much makeup glued on. And saying you “want the groom to recognize” you is key to not being over-done. Apparently the words “natural” and “classic” can go either way….. from my limited/personal/anecdotal experience.

This post should come with a syrup content warning. I feel sticky.

    Lol to footsies! Hahahaha

Ah I like these two together. It feels like a genuine friendship between two successful women. No squad goals for the cameras here.

I liked that when VB told her she didn’t make wedding dresses, Eva told her she didn’t want a typical wedding dress – just something simple and elegant because “this wasn’t my first rodeo.” I think she looked great.

I enjoy their friendship. They are both successful, and no rivalry.

I’m a Victoria apologist from way back. Love her.
