Tom Hiddleston & Chris Hemsworth attend ‘Wizard World’ to talk Thor & Loki

We still don’t know why Tom Hiddleston flew to LA last week, so I’m just going with my original explanation: Tom went to LA to reunite with Taylor Swift, thus fulfilling their TIDDLES destiny. After Tom was in LA for an unspecified amount of time, he flew to Philadelphia to attend Wizard World (it’s like Comic-Con) with Chris Hemsworth. They were there to talk about Thor: Ragnarok, which will possibly be Tom’s last Marvel film. Tom talked about Ragnarok and James Bond:

Tom on what’s changed for Loki: “What I’m interested in really is how his attitudes have changed. While Thor was away with his buddies fighting a computer, and uh, I’ll think you’ll see it’s, there is all sorts of interesting things. I’m four years older and Chris is four years older, and there will just be new things we find in it. The most exciting thing about him is that he is always a trickster. It is trying to find new ways for him to be mischievous, because I love doing that.”

On Loki meeting up with the Hulk again: “The last time Loki and Hulk were in the same room didn’t go very well for Loki so he’s got a few chips on his shoulder.”

The James Bond rumors: “I’m sorry to disappoint you everybody. I don’t think that announcement is coming. But I’m very gratified to hear the enthusiasm. There’s not much that I can say that I haven’t already said, but I know… your guess is as good as mine to be honest.

[From Screen Crush]

Ragnarok is reportedly going to be some kind of “buddy movie” with Thor and the Hulk, so I’m not sure how Loki is going to fit in. I’m also interested in seeing how they explain Natalie Portman’s absence and how Thor has a new love interest.

As for the James Bond rumors… people need to stop asking Tom about it. He’s not even the bookies’ favorite anymore. The current favorite is POLDARK! I mean, Aidan Turner. I think there’s some stuff working against Turner though. One, he’s just a TV star right now. Two, he’s only attractive in motion. In still photos, not so much.

Aidan Turner not attractive in stills? You must be joking. He is one of the most beautiful men on the planet. In any way shape or form.

    • jinni says:

I know. Turner looks ten times better than Hiddleston in stills. Also, Tom needs to stop going in the sun, he doesn’t have the kind of skin that can handle that because he looks burnt here.

Was anyone really invested in the Thor/ Jane relationship anyway? I mean, really, they had no chemistry. Their romance was dry as hell. I don’t think many would even notice if she never came back. They should go the Sif/Thor route because they actually had a believable connection.

    • margaret says:

Sorry he looks like a girl.

    • Rebecca/Becky says:

Aidan is hot af, still or in motion.

    • notlistening says:

Lol, right? And with those Hiddlestone pictures in the post…

  2. Jay says:

My money is on Damien Lewis, not sure why, just a feeling.

  3. MorningCoffee says:

Loki is the only good thing about the Thor movies. As for Hiddles and Bond, I binged The Night Manager this weekend. I think he could do it. I do think Hiddles Bond would be a more cerebral and less physical Bond.

    • Melly says:

I’m semi-obsessed with Loki. I definitely agree that Loki is the best part of the Thor franchise and is the main reason the movies did so well. I’m 100% for a Hiddles Bond. I think he would make a great spy and closer to the original Bond.

    • Mia V. says:

Loki was supposed to die in the last Thor movie and the reaction was so bad they brought Loki back and let’s all be honest, Loki is the best part of the Thor franchise, he was so well liked he became the main villain of the first Avengers and nobody would pay to watch just Chris Hemsworth.

  4. Guest says:

This is so funny. Seriously. Have you ever compared these pictures with those from a couple of years ago when these two were presented as Loki and Thor? They have changed a lot.

  5. toni says:

Far more intersting were Sebstian Stan, Anthony Mackie and Chris Evans at this same event.

    • altariel says:

Agree with you there! Love them and I’d wait on line for days for a chance to meet or see these guys.

    • Marty says:

Head they went above and beyond to make the fans feel welcome. Really sweet guys.

      • toni says:

This. I also could never be an actor and do those kind of meet and greets with fans. Some of them ask far too much, like having the actors lift them up, pretending to propose to them and all the other shit.

      • altariel says:

I’ve been to Doctor Who conventions, and to see these actors sit on panels, then do autographs and then on to photo sessions for hours with fans for three days, all while staying pleasant and funny with lots of hugs to go around, it’s just amazing and I give them lots of credit. I wouldn’t be able to smile for that long!

    • Miss M says:

Love me some Sebastian! But I take Hiddles and CHems over Mackie and Becky any day…

    • Bay says:

      Right. But I don’t care.

  6. Pri says:

I love Poldark, and feel that Aidan can really pull off the broody Bond role. I think they could go for a younger Bond too…Ben Barnes. Alternatively, I think Chiwetel would be a great Bond too, he is soo dapper!

    • altariel says:

Perfect choices! Ben could use a gig like Bond these days, but he may be too pretty, lol

    • ichsi says:

In my ideal world Gillian Anderson is the new Bond, Chiwetel her Bond boy and James McAvoy the villain. The Bond boy and the villain have a lot of UST that finally gets dissolved when Gillian Bond decides love is more effective than violence and takes them both to bed for the threesome of peace. The end. Ahhhh, sorry, a girl can dream.

Of all the likely possibilities I like Aidan Turner best, I think he’s beautiful and not a bad actor. But I’d prefer it if the actor getting the role was a few shades darker or a woman. Or a woman AND a few shades darker. Let Moneypenny take over the franchise!

    • jammypants says:

Barnes is so…meh. I prefer Turner.

  7. delorb says:

Is his hairline supposed to look like that? There is a dark portion and a light portion. I don’t know anything about tanning (AA), so perhaps that’s the look he was going for? Hmm…no.

    • Lilacflowers says:

He does it deliberately just for you. He knows how obsessed you are about his hair.

    • NUTBALLS says:

It’s the way he tans. It’s lighter at the hairline.

    • Lilacflowers says:

@Nutz, could it be that you are unfamiliar with Delorb’s periodic drive-bys to lob digs about Tom’s hair line?

      • NUTBALLS says:

Yep, I’m aware. I just find the whole criticism of someone’s physical features so petty. I prefer to snark about ridiculous things people say and do.

We’re missing few more of the Negative Nelly’s today. Where are they??

      • Lilacflowers says:

They’re still at the Wizard World event.

    • jammypants says:

I think because the unpredictable nature of curly hair, they tend to cover from the sun by jutting out at odd angles. His hairline is so strange. His forehead is HUGE. But hey, he’s still my imaginary boo.

  8. Sixer says:

“Tom went to LA to reunite with Taylor Swift, thus fulfilling their TIDDLES destiny.”

Well, yes, but only after the secret wedding to JArthy.

    • Lilacflowers says:

He went to let Taylor down gently. Because there can only be The JArthy.

    • NUTBALLS says:

No one dethrones The JArthy, not TayTay or Lizzy.

We need a secret baby to spice things up a bit.

Hanging a sharp left here, topic-wise… Sixer, have you been watching The Disappearance? I’m hooked after two episodes.

      • Sixer says:

        A secret GINGER baby!

Yes. It’s kinda Broadchurch-ish in the way everyone’s a barefaced liar with dodgy secrets, isn’t it? I was waiting for a chance to recommend it to you! For a bit of light relief, there’s Mum with Lesley Manville and the delightful Peter Mullan. Silly half hour comedy but beautifully done and with the requisite number of cringe moments per episode for a Britisher show!

      • NUTBALLS says:

I have Mum in the queue too… for Lesley. Glad to hear it’s good.

      • Annetommy says:

Four episodes down, The Disappearance is gripping. They manage to do the usual French thing of having people in the leads who look like real human beings. Even when they are gorgeous, like the female flic, they retain a realness that too many US programmes seem to lack. I can’t remember which US coperama it is, not one I watch, but the female lead’s hair, all Middleton-esque tressy wiglets, would take a minimum of an hour a day to produce. Really? When you are getting up at 5 in the morning to deal with dead bodies?

      • NUTBALLS says:

Sixer, caught two episodes of Mum tonight… so much cringe! Kelly is comedy gold. Loved it.

Annetommy, I like the realness of Euro dramas as you described. I like that actors aren’t necessarily gorgeous, have great hair or perfect bodies. They look more like us normal more often than not.

  9. Lilacflowers says:

Pierce Brosnan was only a TV star when he was picked for Bond. Dalton a theater actor. Craig was barely known. The new Bond probably will not be a known commodity.

Aidan was rumored before Tom was and I think he actually met with Broccoli. People do need to stop asking Tom about it because it is boring.

Colin is taking lunch and tea orders. And cake orders.

    • NUTBALLS says:

Yeah, I think Aidan is too well known at this point and his career seems to be doing just fine. I bet it’ll be a surprise, just as Craig was.

    • KTE says:

I could definitely do with some cake! I bought myself a cupcake from Tesco at lunch time and it turned out to be 2 weeks past its best before date and rock-hard.

    • icerose says:

Craig had done quite alot on UK TV.He was great in Moll Flanders and Love Is the Devil: Study for a Portrait of Francis Bacon. Up until Bond I thought he was developing an interesting an interesting CV.

  10. NUTBALLS says:

Kaiser, you neglected to post the pictures of Tom manspreading on the sofa like a WHORE.

I was pleased that he pulled out his sexy red plaid shirt again. I’ve missed it and those 12 chest hairs.

  11. Mia4s says:

Kind of on topic but I am fascinated by the caliber of stars attending conventions and taking fan photos these days. I mean for years it was the realm of classic scifi and fantasy stars making some cash on the side or the supporting players making an OK living. Then it was the CW crowd. Now? These are actors in their prime! 5-10 years ago they wouldn’t be caught dead at a convention. My GOD what must their appearance fees be like?!

    • Lilacflowers says:

      Ticket prices were pretty steep.

      • NUTBALLS says:

At $1,000 a pop for pictures and autographs, I think the actors were paid well for their participation in the convention.

      • Maxime DuCamp says:

Yeah, I agree about the prices allowing them to well-compensate the actors but I wonder if they are also contractually obligated 0r at least strongly encouraged to attend by Marvel. I can’t see Chris Evans voluntarily signing up for that with his social anxiety. ‘i read on twitter that both the photo and autograph opps were massively oversold. I also heard that Tom Hiddleston stayed to sign autographs after the convention ended and that he was donating the money he made to charity (but not from an official source so who knows? It does sound like something that he would do though).

      • KTE says:

I’m pretty sure that the social anxiety thing has been blown out of proportion, becuase it’s not the first of these cons that Evans has done, and no, they are clearly not contractual obligations from Marvel – who have no need to have their actors doing this sort of thing – but just opportunities for the actors to make a boatload of cash for a couple of days’ work.

    • spidey says:

I think it is absolutely shameless money grabbing. To pay all the money then have to queue for several hours is ridiculous.

      • NUTBALLS says:

And yet, fans who pay such outrageous sums say it was worth every precious minute & dollar and walk away thinking their life is complete now that they’ve met their idol. To each his own, I guess.

I’d rather spend my time and money in the mountains, which is what I did this weekend. Postholed when the trail was covered in snow, found my way out above treeline and went straight up a 14er on hands and knees and bushwhacked back down the trail when it disappeared under the snow. Now that’s what I call an adventure!

      • Kilo Tango says:

I have never understood meeting your idols at a convention, it would feel a bit contrived to me. Not to mention seriously expensive. If I don’t think I’d really feel like I’d ‘met’ them just from saying hello and getting a picture.

I would imagine that while the actors are getting paid its part of their contractual obligation or something as well.

      • Dara says:

I was side-eyeing the whole venture but it sounds like the actors went out of their way to make each person feel like they had their own special moment – even if it was for only a minute or two. I still wouldn’t pay that kind of money to wait in line for hours on end, but to each their own I guess.

      • jammypants says:

I feel like paying that money is like date auction, only, you get 20 seconds and you have to wait hours for that moment of “connection.” No thanks. I agree that it’s pretty contrived. I enjoyed seeing him at a film festival more. Less screaming, more insight. Kudos to Tom giving people their precious 20 seconds to the best of his abilities.

      • NUTBALLS says:

I’d demand more than an autograph, photo and a quick chat after paying a grand and waiting for hours. To make it worth my while, I’d need dinner, chocolate, hours of good conversation and a sexy rumpus if I’m shelling out that kind of moulah! 😉

      • lilacflowers says:

I did notice that a fair number of the women having their pictures taken did so with their hands on the guys’s abdomens.

    • Dara says:

I was surprised too, especially that so many of them were at the same event. That is a big check to write in order to bring them all in – someone a few weeks ago said low six-figures for the big names. Given how jam-packed the schedule was, I’d say they earned that money.

I’ve no idea how do cons like this work. Do the actors get a cut of the proceeds or just a flat appearance fee? Would Marvel have to sanction their attendance or can they do what they want as long as they don’t use any material from the films?

      • Lilacflowers says:

I think it depends on the event. Different promoters probably handle things differently as different states have different laws too. However, the IRS would have sent someone to collect the IRS share on the payment to each person appearing. A law school classmate works for the IRS and this is her job. She goes to concerts, sports events, and conventions.

  12. spidey says:

@ Secretsquirrel. Please appear on this thread and say you have seen this post.

On the last Tom thread I made a reply to you about some people not realising he was acting/ acting in TNM. You thought I was being rude and patronising to you. It wasn’t until I saw your reply that I realised it came across like that. It wasn’t meant to, I was meaning that a lot of people watching Le Carre don’t always give his stories the required amount of concentration.

So please say you have forgiven me. 😥

  13. KTE says:

I have enjoyed looking at the photo-op photos from this weekend. Some people come up with really funny and cute poses. They must spend the hours in line planning them – they can’t be getting more than a minute each to actually get them taken.

    • Lilacflowers says:

And then there was the guy who went down on one knee to propose marriage to his girlfriend while she was posing with Tom and Chris.

      • SloaneY says:

Way to ruin her moment with her fantasy guys. Of course the dude has to make it about him. Lol.

  14. Ninette says:

I just hope that Loki is a huge part of Thor III

    • Bay says:

I don’t know. The all thing sounds awfully crowded at this point.

      • KTE says:

This is my worry, that Loki is being deliberately side-lined.

      • Lilacflowers says:

I think they tried to do that in TDW and realized they couldn’t. Feige knows Loki is magic. This will be crowded but I think/hope the characters who need time will get it. They handled that pretty well in CACW. It was crowded but Capt’s team all got their time and were integral to the story. Beginning and ending with them

  15. Die Zicke says:

Chris Hemsworth’s beard would normally make me swoon, but his haircut is too stupid. Who told him that was a good look?

  16. KTE says:

Well, I guess tumblr and Twitter have officially moved on from Tom, because this weekend’s fake fan-behaviour rumour was all about Chris Evans.

He actually tweeted this morning to debunk it, though of course that doesn’t stop some people believing it.

  17. miasys says:

Went to the St. Louis WW Con in April & felt like a total badass for getting to meet David Tennant & Billie Piper (he accidentally touched my butt-squeeeee!). But maybe I should’ve held out for Philly.

  18. Ellie says:

I didn’t go to Philly but I did see all the pictures the fans posted online and also watched Mackie, Sebastian and Chris’ panel online and it seemed like a lot of fun. Sebastian is a total dork and Mackie is crazy as usual. Evans was also really nice to fans, according to everyone who met them and took pictures with them.
However, the whole event was apparently very, very disorganized and there was mismanagement and I heard that the staff was very rude to a few fans. There was so much delay and fans were kept waiting for hours that even the celebs themselves were confused and frustrated at times. So there was chatter online that the vibe was very awkward. Nevertheless, these guys were actually very nice to the fans and did whatever they could to make it comfortable for them. Also, that mismanagement led to a delay of many hours or so during the photo ops and Evans and these guys had to step back for some time and that led to rumors on the internet about how a girl allegedly sexually assaulted Evans at the booth and that he had a panic attack and had to step away for an hour or so. Everyone went crazy and believed that rumor and #respectchrisevans started trending on Twitter as Evans has always been very open about his mental health issues.
Then Evans had to finally tweet about this and he said that it was all false, that he had a great time and nothing like that happened…LOL
I find it crazy how people took advantage of his anxiety issues and started a rumor that was believable or just assumed that everything that he does is because of his mental health issues. It is so frustrating to me.
He may have been overwhelmed and maybe was nervous and had to take breaks to calm down but what started as a small rumor ended up being so huge. Even some film critics and journalists were talking about it. I hate how people have started taking advantage of celebrities’ mental health problems to judge their behavior ALL THE TIME.
Sorry for this rant. I just wanted to talk about it and this site seemed like the best place..:)
PS-Thor and Loki look SEXY! Love me some Hiddles..:)

    • spidey says:

Funnily enough, the first rumour I saw was that it was Chris H that had a problem with a fan, as an explanation for him not looking too happy at times.

      • KTE says:

This is what I was referring to above.

It’s kind of crazy that people make-up (and yes, they were making them up, as evidenced by the several versions that were circulating over the weekend) these kind of rumours to account for something as simple as a con running late and actors not been able to maintain a genuine smile for several hours at a time.

Erm, cons *always* run late – even when you don’t have movie stars there, and it’s just old TV actors, the autograph sessions and photo ops run over. This is because they’re always oversold (no con ever knowingly turns down money), and the timings are always scheduled too tightly to be realistic when you have people meeting their idols and want to actually say something to them after waiting in line for hours.

That’s when sessions are not being madly shuffled around because the traffic was terrible/a train derailed and closed the line for hours and actors are going to miss their slots.

  19. TotallyBiased says:

    Gack!
Sir Paul McCartney name-checked our Dragonfly King. Albeit in the Daily Fail :
” As we stand on the threshold of the latest 007 handover, McCartney insists that he’d be more than happy with a black actor as Bond, the most likely candidate being Idris Elba.
‘At first, you go, “Well, no. Bond wasn’t black according to the books.” But then, who says? And I think it’s a funky idea.
‘But I’ve also heard Tom Hiddleston mentioned, and after having just ripped through The Night Manager series, I like him. He’s very believable, and yet sympathetic. You root for him. I haven’t seen much of him as an actor, just things here and there, but you get a big helping of him with Night Manager.”
    Well.

    • KTE says:

I’m sure Tom will be flattered when he is shown that – even if he is more of a Stones fan!

  20. TotallyBiased says:

SO many stories coming out of Wizard World, especially from the photo ops/autograph lines. I wish I could link to the pictures, but there are just too many of them. That said, I think my favourite story is from a woman who trains Seeing Eye dogs. She brought two teenager dogs in training for her photo ops, a yellow lab named Aiden and a golden retriever/lab mix named Julien.
” Things I learned today: Tom Hiddleston is undoubtedly a MASSIVE dog lover. He very excitedly took the leash to for two takes of the duo with Evans and there was a bit of a debate as to who would get to hold Aiden’s leash!
When we went to his autograph line, Julian promptly burrowed under his table to curl up at his feet and would not come out. Tom very happily offered to take him home, but alas, we were a bit attached. :p”

  21. Lyla says:

Damn I was kinda hoping he would play bond.
