Gwen Stefani helps Blake Shelton celebrate his 40th, overshares as usual

Turning 40 is a big deal. Trust me, I know. I went to Vegas to celebrate mine. Blake Shelton had quite the celebration, thanks to his girlfriend Gwen Stefani. On Saturday, Blake’s big day, Gwen kicked off the morning posting birthday greetings, as well as an admittedly adorable picture of her beau as a kid on Twitter, calling him “my favorite person I ever met.”

Gwen then covered the jet they took to his Country Jam gig in Colorado with birthday decorations and gave him custom wine glasses featuring a photo of the two of them at the Vanity Fair Oscars parts. Once they landed in Colorado, Gwen presented Blake with a cake in the shape of a guitar. Blake’s band and crew also gave him a cake, which looked like a homemade number. I wonder if they were pissed that Gwen outdid them.

During Blake’s gig that evening, Gwen joined him onstage to sing their (still godawful) duet, “Go Ahead and Break My Heart.” US Weekly posted some grainy fan videos of the show, so you are spared from the goo-goo eyes. Gwen later sang her No Doubt hit “Hella Good” and planted a huge smooch on Blake when she was through, prompting Blake to declare, “What just happened?! I donโ€™t know how Iโ€™m going to follow that.” Proud boyfriend Blake posted a quick clip of Gwen singing from backstage and the fans were actually eating it up, which I hope means Gwen will be singing some No Doubt tunes on her upcoming tour. Give the people what they want, Gwen. I’ll take anything on “Tragic Kingdom” over “Hollaback Girl” any day. Just saying.

After the show, an obviously exuberant Blake tweeted, โ€œI possibly witnessed the coolest and craziest thing of my life tonight. Thank you Colorado and @gwenstefani!” And, of course, Gwen overshared photos of the festivities on social media.

Despite the fact that I’m kind of tired of hearing about how in love these two are, I am glad that Blake had a happy birthday. I think it’s slightly barf-inducing, but overall kind of sweet how Gwen made an effort to make it a special day for him. The cynic in me (and I know I’m not alone here) knows this probably won’t last forever, so I’m not going to begrudge the fact that they’re having fun now. Happy birthday, Blake.

    I would’ve guessed he passed 40 a while ago.

I guess everyone has a different idea of what constitutes a happy birthday. His sounded cold and empty to me. I’m not sure why. Maybe because it was so public and showy? Anyway, not my thing at all, but happy birthday.
P.S. Who wants wine glasses with pictures on them? What a sad present.

Where I’m from, the first sign you’re getting old is when you start getting glasses for birthdays. Or just generally things for the house, but mostly glasses. I can’t remember if my parents ever got something that was for them from their friends, and not for the house. So the glasses with pictures actually sound fancy to me, lol.

I may be too hungover but how is it that celebrities just can’t stay single for even the littlest while??? This will never last, it seems like far too much from Gwen’s side and too forced! hungover and cynical, fecking Monday mornings!!!!!

  4. Lora says:

Chica is exhausting… I can’t stand her anymore. How old is she, 14?!

  5. lisa2 says:

    Well happy birthday.

I love how Appolo always grabs one of his parents ears when they are holding him. He is styled like his father. Super cute baby.

  6. Kat says:

I like Gwen. I think Blake’s an ass, but I hope at least he’s making her happy and vice versa.

    • Keaton says:

Yeah that’s how I feel as well. She deserves a little fun and happiness after all that crap from Gavin. Blake isn’t my fav but he can do that for her? Good.

  7. lucy2 says:

They can’t do anything quietly and privately, can they?

  8. Jane says:

I’m so over these two already.

Sometimes I get the impression that Gwen would rather be married, living in the burbs, and posting pix of the bento lunch boxes she made for the boys after seeing them on Pinterest. No shade…sometimes a girl just wants to sit back with a glass of rose and not have to bleach her roots twice a week, you know?

    • Christin says:

Oh, the hair maintenance. She does have a nice complexion/good foundation. Saw her carpool karaoke skit and was in awe of how smooth her skin looked for 40-ish. Probably equally high maintenance?

    • Kate says:

Never thought about it that way but yeah it does sort of seem like she just wants to be for a minute

  10. Tessa says:

Does GS not have a manager? She seems to be intent on putting people of her and losing her fanbase
She could have zoomed to supercool superstardom post Gavin. Instead she’s made some awful choices.

  11. Lorn says:

Gwen is really stupid. Have you ever seen her in an interview? The carpool karaoke with her is excruciating. She can’t string together a complete sentence. “my favorite person I ever met”. Seriously? She’s pretty, and jokes on us since she’s a millionaire, but damn she’s just not very smart.

  12. QQ says:

I’m gonna gift them a case of Gatorade for their next Monthlyversary… Ya’ll KNOW these two celebrate Monthly

    • detritus says:

They celebrated two week anniversary too. They just didn’t post about it because they thought it was too thirsty.

Imagine next year when they have to top everything they did this year? They’re gonna end up with a Mariah Carey wedding.

  13. julied says:

pump the brakes…we’re supposed to believe blakey wasn’t 40 yet??????? Kinda like dreadful RHOA Kim with the wigs and all married to the poor sap atlanta falcon football player …oh bless his heart …his name escapes me….the thing about gwen is, she used to not be soon saturated on social media…it’s just not wise. agree with what you guys are all saying. not too bright.

  14. StormsMama says:

I love her and am glad she is happy after all she put up with from Gavin. She deserves to be happy and not shy about it. Good for Gwen!

Also: I think it’s time to retire “thirsty”

    • Tig says:

Considering most of her postings were on snapchat, you have to actively follow her and download her story to see most of the stuff on the plane, it’s for the fans that care ๐Ÿ˜‰ it’s easily avoidable, she is having fun, she seems really happy after all of the crap with Gavin, life is too short to wear Tinfoil hats all of the time

  15. Pcanbo says:

The so called writer is tired of Gwen and Blake, why in the hell would you report on them?, you could write or report, make fun of any news story, but you pick these two. Who’s the desperate one. Will this relationship work?, who knows, but hey, we all have been in relationships that haven’t worked, including you. Why can’t they be happy, goofy and have fun, why do people want to put a age time line on fun and acting your age. I love seeing my parents in love having fun, getting silly, smiling, laughing, dressing up or down, why does that bother people? Geesh, ive seen enough people miserable, become righteous, feel superior, just won’t laugh or smile to save there own life. be kind, be respectful, it’s ok to have fun and smile with the one life you have been given. Looks like gwen tried to make blakes bday special because he had to work and not be at home with his family, what is wrong with that? Hasn’t anyone done something silly and fun to make you feel special? . If it offends you or you are tired of it, really it’s easy, don’t follow them or click on the article.
    Have a silly goofy day.
