Lindsay Lohan has been having a pretty decent year. By that I mean that Lindsay hasn’t been arrested, nor is she still dealing with some years-old legal entanglements or probation, nor is she falling out of clubs on a regular basis. I have no doubt that she’s still the same old Cracken, but she has gotten better at hiding her crack drama. She’s engaged to a young Russian heir, Egor Tarabasov, who seems somewhat shady, or maybe he is just really young. Anyway, since everything’s coming up Lohan, Lindsay decided to give an interview to Vanity Fair about her upcoming 30th birthday, her plans for the future and more. VF notes that the interview was done via email. Some highlights:
Turning 30: “I feel great! Age is only a number, right? I have learned a lot over time. I am in a wonderful place in life and look forward to the near and far future and projects that I am working on.
Whether she has any ‘I want to run a marathon’ dreams for this birthday: “I have run a lot of marathons over the years, so to speak. I am in the process of writing a book, and I am very excited to share my personal experiences in life and how to overcome obstacles. I hope that my words will connect with those who need some guidance when [or] if they are in a tough place. I am grateful that I have a voice, which I can now feel comfortable using as a platform to let people know that we all have ups and downs in life, and we can all come up from the downs if we get in touch with our inner self and spiritual side.
Her plans for the next decade: “Making more films, writing my book, starting my charity, working with children a lot. Maybe having some of my own soon—after I get some movies done, first.
What brings her joy: “Travel, experience, sharing my love with someone special, meditation, being happy with good people around me, [and] spending time with my family.
Her regrets: “I wouldn’t call things regrets, per se. I can’t turn back time. But if I could, I would have listened more to my mother and gone back home to N.Y.C. earlier in life and chosen my friends more wisely.
What she would tell her younger self: “I can’t say that I would have listened then, haha. My mother taught me to always be humble, and that is something I live by still today, so I would say that. I would also probably say don’t go too fast. Pay attention to the people you surround yourself with and make sure they have honest intentions. Put yourself first, and just breathe. Be happy and always be grateful for the moment you have in front of you. Be here, now.
She would have “gone back home to N.Y.C. earlier in life and chosen my friends more wisely”? That strikes me as the same old Lohan narrative, that all of Lindsay’s drama was just the result of “bad influences” and “being in LA.” Which is such crap, to this day. I chuckled at “My mother taught me to always be humble, and that is something I live by still today…” Cracken, please. For years, she’s been as arrogant and entitled as they come! As for Lindsay thinking about having children after she gets some films done… well, I’ve been thinking that she would want to lock down Egor with a baby sooner rather than later. Will it happen? Hm… I bet Dina is telling her to get knocked up in a hurry.

Sure, when I’mdown I’ll buy a book by Lindsay Lohan who doesn’t even admit that SHE has a problem. She puts the blame on places or other people, but it was never her! You can’t recover from an addiction without accepting your own actions. That is something Lindsay has NEVER done. If she would sit down in an interview and be like “Look, I made tons of mistakes. Huge mistakes. I made bad choices. I ruined my career. I lied. I was a mess. I hurt other people.” Then I would think she has something to say, that might be worth listening to.
She is rapidly aging. I was still being carded for alcohol through my thirties. She looks like a dowager here. I hope she is going to be alright. I don’t have a lot of respect for her but I don’t wish her ill and there is something not right about this whole relationship that makes me uneasy.

She makes me sad. I remember the Parent Trap. She was such a pretty and talented your actress. By the time she turn 20, she was drugged out, wash out, broke, used, abused and looked twice her age. Not all of her fault. She had crazy parents who benefited from her crazy, addictions and failure. think this new fiancé is just another leech who likes having his name attached to someone famous. I hope she can settle down with someone who truly loves her, live a drug free healthy life out of the limelight. I wish her no malice

She looks like she’s turning 40, it’s terrible. She had so much promise when she first started–she was more talented than a lot of the actresses her age when they all came out. It’s sad she was used as the bread winner for her family. It’s sad neither one of her parents was an actual adult when she needed it the most. I’ve always had a soft spot for her, even though she needs help. I just want to hug her, and then like, slap her and tell her to wake up–then enroll her in boot camp and some counseling. I would be her biggest cheerleader if she made a real effort, and succeeded, in cleaning her self up and overhauling her lifestyle. Robert Downey did it, and plenty of people did–and it even resulted in a career boost for them. If she got her sh*t straight, and cleaned up, she has talent–she could have a career comeback and have a much better life. It’s never too late Lindsey, you’re only 30!!!
No drinking, no pills, and no smoking while pregnant – someone needs to explain that to her.
If she’s writing a book in her current mindset, it would be a behind the scenes look into crazy and sad.
JH82DC – Many people in their 40s, including me, look much younger and healthier than Lindsay – same for many people in thier 50s.
Addiction, especially untreated, ages a person.
I don’t keep up with her too much, I’ve always found the talk around her very sad; but I just came to say I think she looks really good! Or better than she has In a long time.
I grew up with a lot of people in my family who suffered at their own hands with addiction issues. Some of them still do, decades into their life, but I have one uncle in particular who’s been sober now for two years; the longest time since he was a teenager, and he’s in his fifties. I guess I just want to believe that everyone will grow up sometime and learn from their mistakes. That clearly doesn’t always happen, but bless her for trying.
She’s got hustle, that’s for damn sure.

I really despise the way the writers on this site speak about people with addiction. Referring to someone a “Cracken” is just disgusting. Yes, she’s struggled and made mistakes but she seems to be turning her life around. If people could learn to be a little more empathetic at the very least with others’ struggles, the world would be a better place.
Two words: GOSSIP SITE. if you’re looking for sensitive commentary, you’ve come to the wrong place.
And “mistakes” are one thing; consistently endangering other people’s lives is another.
Also, “Cracken” is a very specific mythological term that was used in reference to a series of pictures of Lindsay emerging from the ocean circa 2011-2012 and looking, like, well, what the word means. (I think by Michael K at Dlisted, originally?) It actually has nothing to do with her consuming crack, so next time, do some research before you jump down people’s throats.

K: I don’t see any evidence at all that Lindsay is “turning her life around.” Just b/c she has inflated and purely delusional ambitions, per usual, for herself, is certainly not indicative of any positive change–or change at all. She is still an egomaniacal narcissist, with not even a passing acquaintanceship w humility. That is the reason people on this site–many of them–dislike her so: she is a very mean, self centered woman. She lies, steals, treats those “beneath” her quite poorly, and in general, lives as though the world revolves around her life alone. Her addiction is NOT the reason why people here dislike her; in fact, it seems to be the ONLY reason for the empathy that some are able to still muster for her. Addiction IS terrible, almost everyone agree w that, and people on this site occasionally express concern for hers, and the desire that she overcome her drug and alcohol abuse. However, it’s Lindsay’s *personality* that has most people out of sympathy for her–and out of hope that she *will* ever try to triumph over her addictions. I’m a recovering alcoholic, and I don’t find anyone here to write in a remotely “disgusting” or disdainful way about addiction; in fact, many write w profound empathy and understanding. It’s Lindsay herself we’re out of patience and respect for, as she continues to live in the same destructive, selfish manner, and blames everyone else, still, for her conduct, past and present.
My biggest problem with Lohan isn’t her addition. It’s her mean spirited and bratty attitude.
I hope she is off drugs but that doesn’t mean that I have to like her. I don’t like people who are entitled jerks.

I may be alone in my sentiment, but I like this Lindsay. It sounds like she’s done a lot of reflecting. I understand what she’s saying and I think it is smart. I hope she continues on with this path of self-love.
