Christie Brinkley to lady peeing by her house: she’s celebrating ‘Depends Day’

wenn24587586
Christie Brinkley owns an enormous mansion in the Hamptons which looks out on a public beach. You can see a photo of her her estate here. Apparently Christie has a clear view of the beach because she got in an altercation with a woman who was about to pee on some rocks in front of her house. She set the hose on the lady, who then peed anyway, explaining to Page Six that she couldn’t hold it at that point.

Erica Remkus, 36, started to squat on Sag Harbor Cove sand around 10 p.m. to do her business, the woman told The Post.

“‘What are you doing?!’ ” Brinkley screamed, according to Remkus. “ ‘You can’t pee in front of my house! You have to go away. You’re standing on my rocks. You can’t pee on my rocks. I walk there!’ ”

Remkus, who says she didn’t recognize Brinkley at first, argued that she was on public property.

“These are not your rocks,” Remkus recalled shouting back, standing on a section of sand that was deserted — except for another man who had just urinated there. “This is not your beach. The beach is public property. You don’t own it.”

Brinkley ended the argument by pulling out her hose and blasting Remkus, a hairdresser, from about 30 feet away, according to police.

“I hadn’t even peed yet, by the way,” Remkus said.

The woman says she then realized she was being doused by the 62-year-old former Sports Illustrated cover girl.

“It took me a minute even to figure out who it was,” she said.

Remkus says that after Brinkley sprayed her, she defiantly peed on the sand near the home, which the model owns but only occasionally uses.

Brinkley recorded Remkus peeing with her cellphone, the woman said.

“I would not have peed if she didn’t spray me,” Remkus said. “After that, I kind of had to.”

An infuriated Brinkley called cops, who interviewed Remkus but declined to cite her, authorities said. Unless an officer witnessed the urination, authorities wouldn’t normally press charges, police said.

A local official said Remkus was peeing on public property. A rep for Brinkley didn’t respond to a request for comment Sunday.

[From Page Six]

The Daily Mail has some screenshots of Facebook comments Remkus made in which she described the altercation with Brinkley and admitted giving her the finger, peeing anyway, and throwing glow necklaces at Brinkley. She also said that the cop who came out rolled his eyes at Brinkley and told Remkus that Brinkley didn’t own the beach. Obviously this woman was drunk and rude but Brinkley seems to have been overstepping regardless.

Well Brinkley wasn’t going to leave well enough alone. She issued a ridiculous statement in which she tried to sound clever but just came across like a type-A meanie:

I know it’s Independence Day but that does not mean “free to pee” in front of my guests and me at my fireworks gathering. Maybe the trespasser should celebrate “Depends Day” as she apparently thinks she lives in “The Land of the Pee”, and I I was forced to hose down her mess after she urinated in my yard all the while throwing things at me.

My wish for everyone on this Fourth of July is.l..May you live in the Land of the Free from belligerent drunken stalkers with weak bladders and foul mouths. (that’s not too much to ask right ?) Peace! I’ll raise my glass of Bellissima Prosecco to that…Cheers Happy 4th to everyone!

[From Facebook via People]

Give me a break, “Free to Pee” and “Depends Day.” Plus she put in a plug for her prosecco at the end! I might be team drunken lady peeing outside, but she she’s not blameless and handled the situation with no class. Brinkley has owned dogs, I’m sure she doesn’t run around with the hose spraying after her dog does number one. This is about Brinkley thinking no one has a right to use the beach near her property. It’s gross to have to see people peeing outside, Remkus sounds like she made a stink about it and was trashy and obnoxious, but Brinkley technically doesn’t have the right to spray people when it’s not her property.

Those are the ugliest wine bottles I’ve ever seen.

  2. Sixer says:

She could have just offered to let a caught-short woman use her bathroom? No rocks defiled.

    • lilacflowers says:

That would have been the sensible thing to do and the nice thing to do but hey, let’s get the police involved because surely, they have nothing better to be doing.

    • SamiHami says:

Really? You would allow a complete stranger into your home? I read elsewhere that woman claims she has absolutely no control over her bladder. So why wasn’t she wearing depends? What she did was disgusting and I don’t blame Brinkley one bit for spraying her with a hose. The cops should have arrested that foul creature, since Brinkley had video evidence of her vile behavior.

      • Beatrice says:

You said it so well. Totally agree!

      • Megan says:

There is no excuse for urinating in public in front of a houseful of people. If the pee-er was so drunk she could not control herself, she needs to rethink her drinking habits.

      • JudyK says:

Isn’t urinating in public against the law, period? I recently called the police when I saw two punk teenagers in this neighborhood who are always doing hoodlum-type things pull down their pants and pee in unison..one across the street from my property on my neighbor’s property and the other on my driveway. It INFURIATED me.

They had no idea I’d seen them…I hadn’t reported their previous shenanigans I’d witnessed, because I just chalked it up to being bored teenagers, but at 10:30 p.m. when they peed in unison it was the last straw.

Personally, I can’t stand Christie Brinkley, but I’m with her on this. Oh, and the cops suggested that I get video cameras installed.

      • annaloo. says:

I agree! I agree! I am team Christie on this one, I would FLIP OUT if someone was peeing on or near my property—public urination is disgusting!

Look, I know we have all been there when we need to go, but surely one is adult and civilized enough to scout out where a bathroom is if you know your bladder is weak!

      • megs283 says:

I can’t imagine my shame if my name was in the news for this nonsense. Google has a long memory. And she’s 36!!! Not 20!!!

      • Sherry says:

I agree! I’m 53, have had 3 children “naturally” and I have never felt the need to pee outside someone’s home. If you have to go that bad leave and find a public restroom.

      • Sarah says:

Wow! Such a lack of compassion. I would let a strange woman in my house, but not a man.

      • Stricklyme says:

Hi Greg or Sailor or Mindy or Jill. Please. Brinkley is an overblown pig

    • Jen43 says:

Hahahaha. I know you are English, but a New Yorker would never do this. It’s a security risk. Factor in the Hamptons and I’m actually surprised the lady wasn’t arrested.

      • Pinky says:

Yeah. She got away with peeing in public in the Hamptons? Must be nice. Brinkley probably calls them all the time for disputes, so they let this go to spite her.

I will give her credit for the “Depends Day” diss, though. I thought that was funny.

        –TheRealPinky

      • EM says:

What I read was that the Police needs to see the individual urinating in order to make the arrest. Who said being a PO wasn’t glamorous.

Totally Team Christie on this one – that lady was so proud of her antics she took to FB to tell of her adventure. She should be ashamed of herself not proud – great morals she’s instilling on her children.

    • Sixer says:

I know I’m English too! Teehee!

Bloody hell, SamiHami, it’s only a WEE. Yes, I would let even a rambling drunken twit do a wee in my loo to save them squatting in public. What are they going to do? Run amok with urine in a mass spraying?

As it goes, the kids in my village are banned from using water blasters in the park because they don’t mind the toddlers properly. There’s a bit of green at the back of my house where tween summer water battles occur instead, so August is spent with a trail of soaking wet kids coming in to use my bathroom. So, you know, they don’t have to squat in public.

      • Sarah says:

Me, too, Sixer. I’m surprised at the lack of compassion, and that everyone so giggling at the Depends comment. Nice ageism here.

  3. Louise177 says:

I’m actually on Christy’s side. I know when you have to go you have to go but I would have find someplace private. It sounds like the woman was still out in the open.

    • Spugzbunny says:

Or at least if I had been caught in the act apologise repeatedly and be completely mortified! I agree with her on this, try and pee in private and be respectful!

    • MinnFinn says:

Other reports are saying the woman was drunk. If true, then she probably was not concerned about going in private.

    • Scal says:

If she was close enough to the house to get hit by a hose-then she wasn’t really ‘on the beach’ was she? That’s not really private. Go pee in the ocean like everyone else.

    • Pinky says:

If that woman was on the beach, then do what the fish do, and go in the ocean! Far more civilized, if there is any civility to be had in this predicament.

      –TheRealPinky

      • Net says:

She pretty much said in her post that she told the cops..”since she sprayed me I had to go in front of her.” She was being a douche.

  4. MrsBPitt says:

While Brinkley’s statement was dumb and unnecessary, I don’t blame her one bit for getting annoyed about a woman peeing in front of her and her guests. That is just disgusting! Whatever happened to people having a little class?

    • Lucy2 says:

Me either, I would have been pissed too (ha!). While I would never spray someone with a hose, I would certainly yell and shame them for being so disgusting.

    • Insomniac says:

I don’t blame Christie either. The sidewalk outside my house is technically public but I wouldn’t want drunks peeing there either.

    • tealily says:

Yeah, I probably would have fussed at her too, though I probably wouldn’t have hosed her. The statement’s just dumb though. Stalker? Really?

    • amilu says:

That’s what I’m saying! I can’t believe the pee-er is prepared to go to battle over this trashy display (to borrow DM’s favorite word). Sink into the shadows and sober up. You REALLY want your 5-seconds of fame to be about the time you dropped trou in a celebrity’s line of sight?

  5. Luffy says:

Team Brinkley on this one. Some trashy drunk lady doesn’t have the right to pee in public. It’s gross and a dog doesn’t know any better, a grown woman does. If you can’t keep from peeing in public maybe you should wear depends.

    • Jen43 says:

I agree. The beach isn’t a toilet. Maybe next time she should rethink her plans if they end in urinating in front of strangers. She deserved the hose and to be fined.

  6. NewWester says:

Christie should be grateful the woman did not decide to do “number two” in front of her house. I have seen people do that in the park near my house. Both times the person got out of a car , go to a tree, do their business, then back to their car. People can be gross

    • hplupoi says:

No! Are you serious? I thought it was bad that some guy in an SUV let’s his dog out in my neighborhood to do his business and then loads him back in the car. I have seen that dude just watch his dog poop in my yard.

  7. Ohreallynow says:

I wouldn’t want someone peeing in my yard area when I have guests. That’s gross and I don’t blame her for being upset. The drunk lady needs to grow up.

  8. Jessie says:

I don’t know… I personally find Brinkley’s actions to be elitist and kinda gross. Like she’s up in arms about someone peeing on a public beach? Yeah that woman was also being gross, but it’s annoying when rich white women think they own their viewing space….If I was that gross peeing woman’s attorney I’d sue Brinkley for assault and get some of that Prosecco money lol
Seriously though, the hose was unnecessary.

    • bluhare says:

I’m with you. I think there is bad behavior on both sides, and while the drunk woman could have behaved better; I can’t imagine peeing right in the open!!, Brinkley didn’t have to stoop (ha!) to her level with the hose and that unbelievably twee post.

      • antipodean says:

Morning, bluhare, I’m glad I spotted you. I wanted to apologise for yesterday. You asked me a question on another thread, I answered you at length, but the mods chewed me up. I didn’t want you to think that I was rude and ignored you. I was quite cross because it was a very innocuous reply, but maybe my wittering was unintelligible to Stateside wonks. Hope you are having a great day, anyway, and, for the record I am anti public peeing. Dignity is all. There used to be a law describing this behaviour as “casting offensive matter”, and it demanded a hefty fine.

      • bluhare says:

No worries, antipodean. Some of my most erudite posts were eaten up. So that one was probably one of your best! 😉

For the record, I too am against public peeing and I can’t imagine squatting and dropping right in front of someone’s house. I’m also against self righteous idiots, though. And the fact that the man with her peed there too and no one is getting on his case. Just the woman.

    • tealily says:

It’s easy to judge others’ peeing habits when you have prime real estate with bathroom access!

    • Sarah says:

I’m with you. Much ado about nothing. Whatever happened to just chuckling at the woman?? Horrified, I tell you!!!! How dare that woman pee!!!!!

    • Stricklyme says:

Sad to say most of you have it completely wrong. this area in question is at least 2 miles from any public restroom. It’s in the middle of nowhere. This public beach where she squatted is near Brinkleys beach but is not Brinkleys beach, it is totally public. While it would’ve been my last choice to pee publicly, maybe she couldn’t hold her bladder and was just trying to find a quiet spot to do her business. Would you rather she Peed all over herself ? For Brinkley to hose her down and to shout for her to get off “her rocks” is ludicrous. By the way Brinkley is known for chasing people off this public beach because it abuts her little beach. If you guys think she gives a shit about the little people you’re wrong, and youre suckered in by cosmetically altered face. I’m team Erica

  9. Esmom says:

OMG, I forgot about her and Mellencamp. Such a weird match.

I don’t blame Brinkley for getting annoyed but spraying the woman with a hose is a bit extreme. And her statement is just obnoxious and not clever. Not worth making such a fuss about.

  10. Snowflake says:

My husband and I are so divided on this. I think it’s gross that woman peeing on the beach. Wait and walk to the bathroom. Or find a PRIVATe place to pee. She obviously did it in the open. Good for Christie for spraying her. if you can’t control your bladder, wear a diaper. anyway, that’s just a b.s. excuse to get sympathy imo. My husband totally disagrees, says she couldn’t go in the ocean if she was wearing clothes. And thinks it’s OK to pop a squat. No!

  11. Scal says:

Just go pee in the ocean. If you’re close enough to the house that everyone can see you and you can get sprayed by a hose than you aren’t really being ‘private’. That’s not peeing in the middle of the sand-that’s peeing up right by someone’s home and that’s disgusting.

And really-Brinkley had time to spot you, come off the porch, go and find the hose, unroll it and then come spray you? That sounds like someone was just drunk and standing there.

    • Lady D says:

I sprayed a guy with a hose once in my back yard for doing the same thing. He walked behind the restaurant next door to me, looked around my yard and started to stream. I don’t know how he didn’t see me standing there, I had just finished watering my yard and I turned my hose on the ground right in front of him to wash his urine backwards out of my yard. He got very splashed and very angry. I yelled an apology at him, said sorry I splashed you, I’m just trying to wash your piss out of my yard. I hope all the people he was with heard me.

    • Stricklyme says:

Get it straight people, it was not in front of Brinkley’s house, it was not in the back of Brinkley’s house, nor to the side, nor in a sidewalk, and it was not on Brinkleys beach. It was on the little strip of public beach at night, And not in front of people. This little stretch of beach is way off to the right of Brinkleys little private beach. So Brinkley really went out of her way to do this. Don’t believe everything you read, Brinkley has an amazing PR media machine. And the money to back it all up and pay them all to spread her BS. I bet you there’s tons of police reports Of Brinkley chasing people from that beach: daytime nighttime anytime peeing or not. Those of us who live in the area know all about this. Maybe some intrepid writer should do a real investigation of the real Brinkley.

  12. Micki says:

CB, I get the vibe that you’re for peeing “whenever wherever” and I must admit I’m against it.

  13. shannon says:

If someone was about to urinate in front of me (man or woman), guests or no; if I had a hose in hand, I would have sprayed them too, regardless if I owned the property. That’s just gross and uncalled for. Find a bathroom or jump in the water! She was by the beach for crying out loud. I thought Christie’s statement was quite funny. Don’t blame her a bit.

  14. Justaposter says:

Wow.. back in the day kids, people used to try to hide while peeing in public.
Also, it was followed by “OMG! I had to pee outside! I hope no one saw me.”

*sits back and rocks in her rocking chair*

    • amilu says:

Hahah. I’m with you. We have 12.5 acres and no immediate neighbors. My boyfriend insists on peeing almost every time he’s outside for even a moment. IT KILLS ME. I don’t want to look out the window and see that! Even if I do love you. And even if I have seen it before!

  15. OTHER RENEE says:

What the woman did was disgusting and I don’t blame Christie for being upset or hosing her. Then again I think peeling in a shower is disgusting. However, what she wrote was stupid and came across as mean girl. The public ridicule was unnecessary even if the woman posted about it on social media. Christie should have taken the high road at that point.

  16. Jane says:

Every time I see Christie, I cannot help but think of Jack Nickson’s Joker smile. Does she ever smile “normal”?

    • JudyK says:

I wondered what it was about her that bugs the hell outta me, and that’s it.

      • Jane says:

That smile literally makes her look manic or insane. I know she is just “happy”, but instead I get a cringe worthy vibe from it.

  17. Queendolly says:

The both sound like low-class losers, team rock here.

  18. Frosty says:

    “MY rocks!”

  19. NotSoSocialButterfly says:

Brinkley’s post pee comment contradicts what the pee-er and presumably the police already knew. Brinkley was just being arrogant.

Had I & a party of guests witnessed it, I would have encouraged all to gather and applaud raucously during the pee. No need to hose, the tide would surely take care of it.

  20. Citresse says:

I find it unusual Brinkley doesn’t have secured gates around her entire property given the fact it backs onto a public beach. It also surprises me she didn’t want to spend the extra $ while home shopping to have her own private beach area. I think Brinkley and the peeing woman are both in the wrong here though the peeing woman is more in the wrong than Brinkley.
It may be time for Brinkley to consider the condo lifestyle with full security.

    • Tanya says:

You’re not allowed to use privacy fence on all four sides of your property in the Hamptons, and there entire beach is public property. You also aren’t allowed to landscape e entire lot; 1/4 has to be native vegetation.

  21. MizFabulous says:

What in the bloated cheeks puffy HELL has Christy Brinkley done to her once-lovely face?

    • phdsd says:

Agree. She has the same Joker-smile as Meg Ryan. Could Mellencamp be into that?

  22. LAK says:

And then they both posted their embarrassing behaviour on social media because it wasn’t mortifying enough handled away from cameras!!!!

  23. Giddy says:

My husband once turned the sprinkler system on a drunken couple who stripped off some crucial clothing and then began to go at it on our front lawn. In broad daylight. That was pretty funny. As for the wild pee-er, I think she’s gross if I had the bad luck to have her as my hairdresser, I would insist that she wash her hands in front of me.

  24. The Original Mia says:

I’m with Christie. Go pee somewhere else. If the water is close enough, do it in the ocean. Not on the rocks that are outside a private residence. No one wants to see your bare butt as you squat. And why exactly wasn’t she arrested? Because last I checked doing that was illegal.

  25. Pandy says:

It’s 10 pm and dark, there’s no public restroom and you are trying to discreetly pee among some beach boulders. Could have been me. The tide will wash it away Christie. Try not to panic.

    • The Original G says:

That’s how I read this. If I saw you, Pandy, I would pretend I didn’t.

  26. stinky says:

    Team Christie.
    (and I cant stand her)

  27. mellie says:

Sounds like JCM’s prick like attitude is rubbing off on her…

  28. Snowpea says:

Maybe it’s an Aussie thing but I have absolutely no problem squatting behind a tree if nature calls and there’s no loo available. Hell its virtually a national pastime. Walking home from the pub, busting to go, find a tree and bobs your uncle.

I’m not so sure with the out in the open bit though. I reckon that’s a bit weird!

    • Kate says:

I have no problem with that either. But this is more like wandering into someone’s unfenced front yard and squatting by their hedges when on the other side of the road there’s a nature reserve.

If you have to pee you have to pee, but the normal thing to do is to get as far away from other people as possible. This woman decided to get closer to people instead, and when caught, made a choice to pee anyway. Either she was verging on blackout drunk or she’s an exhibitionist, because that’s weird behaviour.

  29. Pmnichols says:

Is it wrong that I never feel bad for this chick? She is just so irritating. She sucks.

  30. Tanya says:

Just for some context, I live near there, and 4th of July weekend is the worst. I had a woman get out of a cab and run into my driveway to puke on by bushes on Monday. Last year, a town meeting got so heated over the issue of asshole partners that it made the New York Times.

Just because it’s public land doesn’t mean you get to use it as a toilet, and the fact that people think it’s okay is why our coastlines are eroding.

Also, it’s a beach. Pee in the ocean!
