Lisa Rinna thinks her whole family got swine flu and is fine

la confidential party 010509

You would think that with lips as heavy as hers, Lisa Rinna would have a hard time talking. Or if nothing else, it would take long enough to lift them that she’d have a chance to consider what she was about to say. Given all that, nothing less than Shakespeare should come out of her mouth. Unfortunately that’s not the case, and epically stupid things spew forth from her hot dog lips.

Lisa thinks her entire family had swine flu in April before the rest of the country had heard about it. And they’re fine. I think the implication being “don’t worry about it.”

“I believe we all, except for myself, had the swine flu at our house. How do you know it’s the swine flu? I don’t know but we had all the symptoms. We had it before it came out. I’m serious. I’m dead serious. We had it at our house, I believe, and everyone is fine.”

[From Entertainment Tonight]

Dlisted pointed out that this makes it seem like we can probably blame Lisa Rinna and her family for bringing swine flu to the U.S. You know, if we wanted to skew things that way. And I feel that – if we need someone to blame – Lisa Rinna is as good as anyone. Maybe better. Doesn’t Harry Hamlin look like he’d harbor swine flu? And his last name is Hamlin. Ham-lin. That cannot be a coincidence. *Snort.*

Several commenters on Dlisted’s site have mentioned they had short bad flues in April and are now wondering if they had swine flu. Considering most people get over it on their own, it’s very possible that some people caught it without realizing that’s what it was. Generally speaking, flu season ends in March, though of course this isn’t set in stone. It’s not completely, totally impossible that Lisa Rinna is right, though I still think she should shut her Restylane.

Here’s Lisa and Harry at Los Angeles Confidential magazine’s May/June issue party last night. Images thanks to WENN.com .

Better to be thought a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt.

Some people should have this tattooed on them.

  2. ChristinaT says:

what a dumbass. she’s absolutely SURE about it too..

  3. Polkasox says:

Why are her legs a different color than the rest of her body? Just sayin.

  4. kiki says:

maybe she did. come on people its just the flu. I do not get all the hysteria going on presently. You can to question why its in overdrive. Is it to sell tamiflu.. go on Snopes and see who stands to profit from its sales ( Donald Rumsfeld) is it a ploy for Lou Dobbs to close the Mexican border? Is it to shift attention away from the lead in stories on the 6:00 news about foreclosures and pink slips? cause frankly losing our homes and our jobs is the more likely threat.
The News outlets are not even comment that “Swine Flu” is and enviormental hazard brought upon by unsanitary growing food conditions. much like the Spinich and Peanut butter poisonings some while ago.
just STOP IT with the panic already

  5. Why are the hotties ALWAYS dumb? *shakes head in disappointment*

  6. RaeJillian says:

um, i have been thinking this a bit. two weeks ago my oldest got very ill, flu like, she is just now back to normal. a week and a half ago i got sick – i even pleaded with God that it not be the flu; i am much better, yet still recovering. and finally at the begining of this week my youngest got very ill, fever – cough – upset tummy. she is just now recovering. slowly. i have wondered if it could have been the swine flu, or just a random flu… seems silly but possible.

  7. Zoe (The Other One) says:

She looks like Angie-Jo in this picture.

As for swine flu – over a million people a year die from normal flu – this ‘pandemic’ is yet another scare-mongering scam from the media to try and keep everyone in line. Nonsense.

  8. yadira says:

Why is her hair so greasy and why isn’t she wearing a bra or pasties? I can totally (and unfortunately) see her head lights thru that dress

  9. anon says:

yeah, polkasox…orange legs and white arms and face look SO good, don’t they?

ladies, stay away from self tanners!

  10. Wench. says:

RaeJillian – “I even pleaded with God”?

Oh man, maybe that 23 month old should have done that, too.

  11. Ggirl says:

Dumb comments aside, I think her hair looks terrific pulled back. The trout pout looks more subdued.

  12. daisy424 says:

Damn, he used to be so hot!

  13. Obvious says:

Honestly, I doubt we’ll have even half the deaths in America that Mexico has had. We live in cleaner environments and have the resources to take better care of ourselves. In fact the only death currently (that I know of) in the US was a Mexican Toddler brought to Texas for treatment-so I’m not sure if we can ever count that one as an American death.

  14. TaylorB says:

This flu freak out is very overblown. The 24/7 news is making this out to be much worse than it is, at this point. Basically, wash your hands, sneeze into your sleeve, and if you are sick (and this should always be the case) STAY HOME and don’t risk infecting others in your workplace/store/school as that is how these things spread. I you feel ill, see a doctor or DVM depending on your species of course 😉 drink lots of clear liquids, rest, etc.

  15. Codzilla says:

Are her lips like that permanently? Or does she have to keep getting them injected?

  16. hatsumomo says:

hey “wench” thats a low-blow and stupid comment to make. Just because someone has a faith you shouldn’t take it upon yourself to attack someone sarcastically for it. “Comment the way you would like to be commented on”

and for your info, it has been proven that if a particular action or activity (i.e. praying, yoga, chanting, meditating ) makes you feel better then do it, it could help the recovery process.

  17. ChristinaT says:

yeah wench, real classy… did you just wake up this morning and realize some people are religious?

  18. sarah says:

Firstly, Wench, ChristinaT et al. please dont make this about religion.

Secondly, kiki, Taylor B- this particular strain of flu (which comes from a mutated combination of swine, avian and human influenza) IS and SHOULD BE of concern, because it has caused a significant number of deaths and according to the World Health Organisation is considered to be at high risk of becoming a pandemic . That means people the world over can get sick and die, especially those without access to appropriate health care (of which there are millions in the US and other countries) and also those more vulnerable to illness like the young or elderly.

Finally, and this follows on from the last paragraph, for Lisa Rinna and RaeJillian, your paranoia about having swine flu only spreads panic and misinformation about the virus. Swine flu originated in the south of Mexico, in a small village, with patient zero being a young boy who it is believed was possibly in contact with someone working at a pig farm in the vicinity. If you werent in Mexico in April, you cant have this particular form of swine flu. You just had one form of the flu. Influenza is not one particular virus but a general name for a large number of different strains that are constantly mutating, the vast majority of which will give you symptoms of the flu. But you wont die from it, unlike more than 150 people in Mexico that did.

So. People. Wash your hands, follow basic precautions to avoid illness and dont panic if you get the flu. If you do have flu-like symptoms see a doctor if your really worried. But if you havent been to mexico and havent been in contact with someone who was there recently you probably have nothing more to worry about than a runny nose, tummy problems and a few days off work.

  19. ChristinaT says:

thanks for the info sarah… but you’re kind of bossy.

  20. Yeah, according to my sister, she and a few others back home are recovering from a bout of the swine flu . . . (*Insert massive eyeroll here*)

  21. Maritza says:

According to CNN this flu has been around before so it’s possible she is telling the truth, and yes, you can recover from it in your own home.

  22. czarina says:

@Sarah–actually, from what I’ve just read, they are estimating the number of cases of swine flu WORLDWIDE at 750 (give or take, say, 20).
Of those cases, there are 14-17 (numbers vary) deaths so far in Mexico.
How do you deem that a “significant number of deaths”?? (I have no idea where you came up with the 150 number, but I have checked several media reports and the information being reported is 450 (give or take) cases in Mexico and 14-17 (depending where you read) confirmed deaths.
In Canada alone, 4000 people die of influenza (the traditional strains) every year.
I agree with you that the flu–influenza–of ALL types should be taken seriously and all sanitary measures (such as handwashing) should be taken, but let’s not jump on the “we’re all going to die of swine flu!!” hysteria bandwagon.
I think way too much is being made of this particular flu strain, as if it were the black plague.
The cases so far in Canada have all been quite mild and nobody (here)has died from it.

  23. TaylorB says:

    Sarah,

czarina is absolutely correct, take a look at the worldwide deaths from the seasonal flu in comparison before you freak out. That being said, I didn’t mean to imply in my earlier post that this flu isn’t a serious virus, of course it is all flu viruses should be taken seriously. I just think that the 24 hour news cycle has blown this way out of proportion, think the Y2K thing. Basic precautions are the only thing that will help at this point. People panicking and making a run on Tamiflu is a terrible idea. Hell, I would be willing to bet about 20% or more of the people in my profession have been exposed to a strain of swine flu and are still kicking.
