Derek Jeter, 42, married model Hannah Davis, 26, in St. Helena, California

Do people genuinely care about Derek Jeter? Let me ask that another way: besides Yankees fans, do people care about Jeter? Well, in case you care, Jeter is married! The 42-year-old retired Yankee married 26-year-old swimsuit model Hannah Davis this weekend. Yes, I’m still rolling my eyes at the age difference too. Jeter was actually one of New York’s most famous bachelors, and over the years, he romanced everyone from Mariah Carey to Jessica Biel (remember that?) to Minka Kelly.

Hannah and Derek had gotten engaged last fall after dating for a few years. Surprisingly, the wedding didn’t take place in New York. Or the Hamptons. It took place in St. Helena, California, at a Napa Valley resort. Hannah wore a custom-made Vera Wang gown and from what I’ve seen, the Daily Mail has the best pics – you can see them here. The gown is sleeveless, with a high lace neck. Not my style, but she looked lovely. Wedding guests included Yankees Jorge Posada, Andruw Jones and Tino Martinez, as well as Jeter’s family and some of Hannah’s modeling buddies. There were less than 100 guests and Hannah had said in past interviews that she was trying to keep the wedding pretty simple.

What else? In all of the media coverage of the wedding, people are noting that Hannah bought an Italian Mastiff puppy for Jeter for Christmas. The puppy’s name is Kane. Oh, and all of this time I thought Hannah was from somewhere like Pennsylvania, but she was born and raised in the US Virgin Islands. Sources also tell Page Six that Jeter is “definitely ready to be a dad” and that he and Hannah plan on starting their family quickly. Honeymoon baby?

Tino! I miss him. He was my favorite Yankee.

    • Jen43 says:

I love Tino also. I think he and Derek live in the same area of Tampa. They have always been good friends.

    • cynic says:

Ah yes, Tino was also my favorite.

    • V4Real says:

Tino was always my favorite first baseman. I loved him even more after meeting him. Derek was nice to BTW.

    • Sarah says:

When they traded Timo for Giambi, this lifelong Yankee gave up.

And Jeter is ridiculous. That’s a big age difference at her age.

  2. HH says:

The age difference is bad, but not awful. Although, maybe it’s because I’m just now learning about this relationship from these pics and they both look so cute.

    • Loopy says:

Yeah its cliché now that he is getting along in age he thought best time to lock down a young girl. But its not awful, she is mature enough.

    • qwerty says:

It will be awful when she’s in her forties and still young and full of energy and stuck with a senior citizen.

    • V4Real says:

42 and 26 is not that bad.
Bo Derek stayed with her husband until he passed away and he was like, what, 30 years plus older than her?

  3. Zapp Brannigan says:

Did the guests all get commemorative bathrobes?

  4. Elle says:

I know this type of marriage is common, but I’ve always wondered how these women don’t feel like nurses once their husbands hit 50. Amal Clooney looks like she’s out with her father when she’s with George. Jeter looks much older than 42 in these shots. Different strokes for different folks, I suppose. Looks like a lovely ceremony.

    • Mikie says:

I better start looking for a nurse/ husband. I’m almost 42. 50 getting close. Lol

    • FingerBinger says:

You’re not quite a senior citizen at 50. You don’t need a nurse.

      • Lex says:

You are definitely not a senior citizen in your 50’s, but she will still only be in her early 30’s when he reaches that milestone. It’s not a dangerous age gap, but it’s one where I know she hasn’t thought about it long term. Although she’s not exactly aging well, as I’m older than her, but she looks like she could be 35, easily.

    • qwerty says:

Pretty much what I wrote higher up. It’s fun to hook up with a 40 y.o. in your twenties. It’s less fun when you’re still young in your forties/fifties and married to a guy with back problems and erection problems and cholesterol problems who’s turning into a grumpy old man.

      • chaine says:

I have a friend who married someone 27 years older. By the time she was in her 40’s she was nursing him through open heart surgery, and then through colon cancer. We would be out somewhere on a GNO, and he would be calling her on the phone all quavery-voiced sounding like a granddad, which he was, worried about why she hadn’t come home yet. When he got the all-clear on the cancer, she filed for divorce and started dating men her own age.

    • chaine says:

Yep, he looks like father of the bride getting ready to walk his daughter down the aisle…

  5. Smokey says:

Honeymoon baby? Sure that’s when it’ll be conceived but probably more accurately described as “lockdown baby”. There’s no way this ends in a marriage of decades rather than single digits.

    • tracking says:

Did anyone see the People coverage? It was all “his friends are so envious of her hotness.” Either he trades her for a younger model within a decade, or she throws him out for cheating much sooner.

      • it's like you know says:

There’s always the wild card of her cheating on him with a younger, hotter dude once she realizes that she married a guy who will be in his 50s soon while she’s in her prime.

      • V4Real says:

Isn’t Melania Trump like 24 years younger than Donald who is 70?

        Like I said unthread 26 and 42 isn’t that bad. She’s not a child, she’s in her mid 20’s, 4 years from 30.

  6. Esmom says:

My 16 year old son still cares about Jeter, lol. He’s actually reading his autobiography right now. I guess that will have to be updated. Not that he cares about his marital status.

  7. lilacflowers says:

I don’t miss Jeter in a Yankee uniform. I do miss the great Mariano Rivera.

  8. Dangles says:

Would”ve thought a 26 year old swim suit model could get a rich guy her own age.

  9. Talie says:

I think he’s boring to most people outside of the greater NYC area.

  10. Kiki says:

I don’t care about these two. Call me a bitter woman, I don’t find Hannah Davis very pretty. Like most people, different strokes for different folks. Congratulations to the happy couple.

    • Locke Lamora says:

Call me bitter then too, but me neither. But she’s still ten times better looking than him. He has such a derpy face

    • Myrna says:

      Yeah, I don’t think she’s anything special.
She’s pretty enough, tall and in perfect shape.
I imagined Jeeter with an exquisite beauty given the long chain of beauties he’s been involved with over the years.
I’ve always been an adoring Jeeter fan, but him marrying now at this age and snagging a very young woman – yes, 26 is very young and she was just 22 when they got together – it’s simply disappointing.
I guess he is just a cliche.

      • V4Real says:

I’m a Yankee fan and a Jeter fan. I could give a rat’s ass about who he marries. That’s not my concern and it isn’t affecting my life one way or the other. I only liked him as a baseball player not because I thought he was hot. But Jeter did say that he would only get married after he was retired from baseball. I don’t think there is anything wrong with waiting until his career in baseball was over to tie the knot.

      • Myrna says:

        Gotcha V4Real.
But this is a gossip site and yeah, I have a foolish, fangirl expectation of my sports crush, Jeeter.

  11. tmc says:

I once watched an HBO piece on Jeter and his relationship with his friends and that seemed really nice. But I just wonder… what is it about sports figures and models? (or I guess you could insert actors or musicians in here too.) It feels so cliched to me. And wasnt he with another model before her?

    • Tiffany says:

Jeter, while he personal life can be seen as skivy, has an impeccable rep professionally, with fans and his family life seems solid. I occasionally go the website he had a hand in, The Players Tribune. He gets personal and talks about all aspects of sports and life outside of it. I see why he was well liked.

  12. MrsBPitt says:

So, basically, it’s like he married his daughter…..I really hate the huge age difference…it’s so cliche…famous, rich old guy, scores young hot model….I give three years….

  13. Cupcake says:

The age difference is gross. He wants a hot baby making machine who can become a hot nurse in a few years.

  14. Joanie says:

She is gorgeous, but I can’t believe she’s only 26…I thought she was at least 32.

  15. pk says:

Jeter is only 42, that’s not very old. Definitely a few decades off from needing a nurse.

    • caitlinK says:

I’m amazed at how many people on this thread think 42 is old and that fifty is ancient, bedridden, and in need of a nurse! My Aunt and uncle are 15 years apart, and are one of the happiest, healthiest, most fulfilled couples that I know, so I’m not sure where all this age and age gap judgment is coming from?

      • Jellybean says:

It is because it is an older man with a younger woman. When Aaron Talylor-Johnson married a woman 23 years older than him it was celebrated. The reality is that there will probably be a power imbalance at first, but as long as the younger one isn’t still a kid I think it is their decision and none of my business.

  16. burnsie says:

I am genuinely shocked. I knew he always talked about settling down after retirement, but I never thought it would actually happen. I figured he’d wh*re it up until he was in a nursing home.

Maybe it’s age/generation thing, but I am genuinely interested in this tea

  17. hogtowngooner says:

I’ve always liked Jeter (not just because he’s not at all bad to look at but because he’s always had a good reputation and while he had a lot of relationships, you never heard about him fooling around on them, etc). I hate the Yankees but have the utmost respect for Jeter and his contribution to the game. Class act, all the way.

The wedding pics look nice and they look legitimately happy so Mazel Tov!

  18. Elizabeth says:

They’ll have a couple of kids, then he’ll dump her for someone younger.

Meanwhile, he still pings my gaydar.

  19. jferber says:

Call me a bitter b-tch, too, but if I were a young swim suit model, I would not have chosen Jeter. He might be agreeable enough personally, but he was extremely promiscuous sexually (and yes, I do like using the word “promiscuous” for men). I wouldn’t have wanted all that baggage, including possible health repercussions. I bet her pre-nup is very, very generous. The best to both of them.

    • Julie Smith says:

I don’t have access to his med charts, but rumors of herpes have dogged him for more than a decade. Supposedly Jessica Alba has him to thank for her Valtrex prescription.

  20. wow says:

Hannah is gorgeous! And they could very well be in love with each other regardless of the age difference. She finally gets her “Kate Middleton Last Laugh Moment” since they are married now even after all of these years of a lot of his female following dragging her name through the mud.

  21. TrixC says:

I can’t believe the amount of judgment on this thread. I’m 36 and my husband is 51; we got together when I was 28, so very similar to this couple. I’m glad our friends and families are more accepting than you lot.

    • Sarah says:

If you don’t want judgement, I wouldn’t come here!!!

She’s not just younger, she’s a swimsuit model and seems somewhat vacuous. And his parents are very conservative, so I wonder whatntheynthought about her cover shot last year with her bathing suit pulled down to the top of her labia!!

  22. Velvet Elvis says:

While Jeter isn’t “old”, he was in high school when she was born, which technically makes him old enough to be her father. Gross.

  23. Adele Dazeem says:

I have no idea who these people are but they look more like brother and sister rather than husband and wife.

  24. DesertReal says:

My husband and i are 15 years apart and its closest, easiest, happiest relationship either of us have had. We both have the same kinks, sense of humor, interests, religion, and outlook on life. The only thing we dont agree on is politics, and we have really interesting respectful conversations about it (where we mostly just agree to disagree). His parents are in their 70s and are active, fiesty, and are healthier than my folks who are a decade+ younger. Cancer doesnt run in either of our families, and neither of us want kids.
Hes my best friend and everything in between. His ass is the only ass I’d wipe and if it comes to that I’ll just be so happy that we still have the time and laughter. For now the only one on medication is me (for migraines) so I’m not too concerned.
Im not saying their connection is the same, but their age difference isnt one I’d give the side eye to.
