Johnny Depp wants to fine Amber Heard $100K every time she leaks to the press

wenn22836806

I kept meaning to write-up an update on the Amber Heard-Elon Musk story, but I never got around to it. Late last week, Page Six and TMZ reported that Amber and Elon were likely spending a lot of time together in LA and Florida, and they were possibly even hooking up at a Florida hotel a few weeks back. But a source later told People Magazine that “Amber and Elon are friends and have been for a few years” and while they did spend time together in Florida, the hangout was a group situation and there was nothing romantic going on. Do you believe that? I think I might believe it, considering I think it’s possible that Johnny Depp’s team wants to make Amber look like she’s already “moved on” with another wealthy man, because “slutty golddigger” narratives don’t just appear out of thin air.

Speaking of narratives and which team (Team Depp or Team Heard) has the better media strategy, well… I don’t know. I would say that Amber has handled her business really well, except that Depp still has so many apologists and defenders. We recently heard that Depp’s team was trying to muzzle Amber in the press – Depp’s lawyers don’t want Amber’s lawyers leaking to the media anymore. Which is pretty rich, considering Team Depp has been passing information to TMZ for months. TMZ is basically working for Johnny Depp at this point. Well, Amber’s lawyers have filed their response to Depp’s attempt to muzzle Amber.

On Tuesday, Amber Heard’s legal team filed new documents claiming Johnny Depp and his team are attempting to “thwart” their divorce proceedings, and that he is “smearing [Heard] at every turn.” The documents address the filing Depp’s team submitted last week, which request that any forthcoming information discovered during the proceedings, including financial information and witness statements, remain confidential. He also requested that experts and witnesses who testify sign a nondisclosure agreement – and any breaches would cost Heard and her team $100,000 for every infraction. Heard’s team calls their requests “blatant threats.”

“[Depp] and his counsel’s demand for the execution of these two non-disclosure agreements which impose undue financial hardships and burdens on [Heard] are nothing but blatant threats by [Depp] and are illustrative of his continued attempts to thwart real progress in this case,” state the new documents obtained by PEOPLE. “In reality, it has been, and continues to be Depp who refuses to be forthright with his financial information and has stymied resolution of this case…[Depp] has been stonewalling the progress of this case, by refusing to provide the most basic financial documents.”

In the papers Depp filed last week, his team claimed that they previously asked Heard to agree to maintain confidentiality, but says she “has inexplicably refused to sign any agreement” to do so.

“Amber’s need for financial information to resolve this case is distinct from the public’s appetite for celebrity divorce,” last week’s documents also stated. Heard’s new filing also argues that she is not failing to attend her deposition, as Depp’s team has alleged, but that she is leaving for London for work, and willing to do the deposition on a weekend.

“[Heard] is cooperating in full because she wishes to be transparent and has nothing to hide,” the new documents state. The new documents also state that both parties participated in a six-hour voluntary settlement conference with a judge in hopes of resolving all matters between Heard and Depp. While no full resolution was reached, the documents note that some progress was made.

[From People]

TMZ notes that Amber has always said she would be willing to fly in on a weekend and sit for her deposition, but Depp’s lawyers refuse to work weekends! Which is funny to me. As for the demand that Amber and her legal team face fines of $100,000 per confidentiality breach, that is insane. Insane if it’s ONLY for Amber. I know that Amber’s team doesn’t want to even play into Depp’s game, but if he keeps pressing the confidentiality agreement, Amber’s lawyers should demand that Depp’s team be held to the exact same standard. If Team Depp leaks anything, they face the same fines. That won’t happen though. Right now they’re still negotiating and playing this out in the press. Does Depp not realize that he just needs to give Amber a generous settlement and walk away?

    He is beyond deplorable.

    I stand with Amber.

    • Laura says:

Agreed. It makes me so sad to say it, as I loved him (as much as you love a celebrity) for most of my life, but these last few years have really shown his true colors.

      Team Amber.

    • MarcelMarcel says:

I stand with Amber. I can’t even imagine being married to an abuser with this much social & financial power and I hope she continues to have the support required to heal from this awful situation.

  2. Belb says:

It’s about leaking financial details, not just stories.

Amber’s depo is now scheduled for August 6.

  3. Erinn says:

    What EVEN.

I’m taking this as a pretty clear indication that she has a lot more dirt that she could spill, and he’s getting nervous. If she had nothing, he wouldn’t bother.

  4. jinni says:

If she has no intention of leaking anything then the fines shouldn’t be a problem. They have both leaked info, just that this financial info isn’t the same as previously leaked info since it could put his medical info out there for public consumption, which no one deserves to deal with. Also, what’s the big deal about not working weekends? A lot of people see the weekend as their time to rest.

Besides the depo was already postponed once due to her work obligations with WB since she couldn’t show up due to costume fitting , which it was later revealed was canceled so the original depo could have happened. Now once again, her work just so happens to be making the dates that were assigned an issue. Seems like both parties are coming up with reasons to stall to me.

    • Naya says:

Do you honestly believe that Johnnys high power law firm has a strict Monday to Friday work schedule? You work when the case requires it. He is clearly playing a game of dominance plus it buys him time to wear her down while undermining her claims with the general public.

If we are going to play the “if she doesnt plan to leak then the fine shouldnt be a problem” game then can we also say that “if he doesnt plan to cheat in the financials then a leak shouldnt be a problem”. Its not like estimates of his wealth arent publicly availabke anyway, why is he acting like some shy debutante? This isnt your neighbors financial disclosure, its a mans whose income and assets are covered by major publications. Whats the biggie…..unless he intends to hide assets in a way that is legal and her only remedy would be to publicly shame him.

Also, who is to say he wouldnt set her up. Disclose and then leak it himself, just to be a punk ass. From what we know of how financials, 100k wouldnt just be punitive, it could destroy her.

      • jinni says:

I’m sure they don’t have strict schedules, but maybe Laura Wasser people don’t work weekends. I don’t know how her team operates. I just know that most people try not to work weekends.

      • Naya says:

There is no way in hell a law firm of that notoriety gets there by refusing to work weekends when a case requires it. None whatsoever. Its a power move.

      • Who ARE these people? says:

I had to work with a high-powered law firm once and was kept up till 2-3 AM most nights. It was clearly routine for the lawyers. They will do whatever it takes to get the job done, and what’s more, don’t they earn overtime for weekends?

I hate the “If she has no intention to leak, it shouldn’t be a problem” argument. It’s a lot like, “If you’re not going to commit treason, then the Patriot Act shouldn’t be a problem for you” argument and the “If you’re not going to commit voter fraud, then voter ID laws shouldn’t be a problem for you” argument and the “If you’re not a Communist you shouldn’t have any problem taking a loyalty oath” argument and any other variation on, “If you’re innocent then you should have no problem submitting to unfair and repressive measures.”

      • Shockadelica81 says:

Yes! It’s a set up I can see happening too. Leak some info to Bff TMZ then claim that the “source” was somebody close to Amber. Levin wouldn’t hesitate to help his friend Wasser and bring down a celebrity for more clicks.

    • JustBitchy says:

jinni, you are quite the Depp apologist. Are you, like TMZ, on his payroll? Big time attorneys always work weekends (like the rest of us)… Do you know what’s in his medical file? Did you work for him at Viper Room?

      • Ruth says:

I really don’t see a reason to attack her since she didn’t insult anyone. Relax a bit! Nothing has been proved by court of law so everyone has the right to free speech if they don’t insult others. No need of such rudeness. Like it or not he has a ton of supporters and most aren’t on his payroll.

    • Beth says:

It’s not the complains in and of themselves, but within the context. JD is trying to impose fines on her if there are leaks, but there is pretty clear evidence that he has been leaking a lot to the press. Basically, it sounds like he wants to be able to leak whatever he wants with no possible public recourse from AH.

Also, if what you wrote is true, then it sounds like she may also be stalling. However, you can’t put it out that she is the one delaying proceedings when she has offered an alternate time (even if it is not ideal).

      • Who ARE these people? says:

She’s not stalling; she’s working. And given what’s happened, she needs to keep her job. Depositions can be taken anywhere around the world; lawyers can fly to her if needed, they just have to bring a camera, a battery and an electrical adapter. It’s his team that’s stalling.

    • Susan says:

As a high powered lawyer myself, haha, it’s utterly ridiculous that they won’t take the depo on a weekend. We work 60-80 hours a week routinely and you don’t do that in a M-F schedule only. There were periods when I was more junior where I worked every day, non stop, for months on end. And as someone noted above, that includes to 2:00 or 3:00 in the morning, or even round the clock never going to bed.

But I did laugh at the naïveté of someone commenting that these lawyers would get overtime. Lololol. Professionals like lawyers are exempt from overtime laws. We get to watch our average hourly pay shrink to pennies for every extra hour we work.

  5. Ruth says:

The confidential agreement is about financial, business and medical info and all the witnesses around them. Nothing to do with the RO case,so whatever he’s trying to hide has nothing to do with the DV case. Now Amber really doesn’t help herself with this. She says that she is willing to sign the agreement but thinks that the fine of leaking is outrageous. That gives away that she plans on spilling the beans. Also new documents reveal that she will sit for the deposition since his team desperately wants it because he plans to defend himself at the court, something that comes in contradiction to what her team has been saying about him avoiding court. Who has a better team? Judging by who achieved to get the most support I’d say Depp. 2 months ago when it all started, the public opinion was divided while now it’s clear who’s winning. And they both leak info.

    • mmm says:

Medical info is the only information along with the social security number, that’s PRIVATE in a court

So drop that excuse about his medical records, already

      • Ruth says:

Fair enough. What about the business and financial information of other people who have nothing to do with the divorce? If he wants to keep then private then so be it. I’d want it too if everyone was watching me.

      • mmm says:

She shared her information too. They are equals for the law

People or business information is the basic information required for divorces and it couldn’t be any financial information “private” for the law, he allegedly is a taxpayer, so unless he had some obscure business with the mafia or double life, there’s nothing that could be private about his finances

And between the information Amber’s team must request, the taxation is included too.

    • Lucy says:

I can’t remember where I read this but one of the reasons he wants the financial records to be confidential is because of his settlement with Vanessa, he is still paying for certain properties and things that she has access to, and because he is financing and paying for a lot of his kids activities, housing, travel and other needs and doesn’t want the public knowing about his children’s affairs. I could see his side when it comes to this, Vanessa and the kids are innocent in this and should have a right to privacy as well. He probably doesn’t want the public knowing that oh look Johnny spends X amount on clothes for Lilly Rose each year or whatever, it may seem silly but I could see hoe the criticism and media circus could go after his kids for this and I’m sure Vanessa probably doesn’t want the public to know how much money he pays her and what properties he pays and she has access to.

      • Ruth says:

What you are mentioning is probably true and there are probably many other reasons too.Sad that people are taking as a sign that he is hiding something related to the abuse while nothing about it is mentioned.

    • Ariel says:

How do you know the details of the confidentiality agreement?

      • Ruth says:

It’s published by extravt.com. It mentions a ton of things that should be kept confidential (finances, bank accounts, fashion contracts, movie contracts,Talent agency information, medical information, investments, taxes and many more) but the point is that there’s no mention of the RO case anywhere. I know that many here want to believe that he’s trying to silence her regarding the abuse but facts are facts and it’s clear that the confidential agreement has nothing to do with the abuse and the witnesses of the RO hearing. The witnesses mentioned at the documents are related to other information.

    • Kosmos says:

I’m not one of those who completely believes Heard in this battle. I really am still on the line as to whether he physically abused her or not….I’m not sure that Heard isn’t fabricating her issues and wants a big payout. Then again, It could all be true, but I need to be convinced 100%. I know it makes Depp appear guilty, but we were not eye witnesses to their private relationship. Depp could be innocent – she could be stretching things to get her way – who knows? All in all, I do feel it was a huge mistake for them to marry so soon into their relationship, and for Depp not to have protected himself more in the event of things not working out, sigh….

  6. Lela says:

I hope Amber does move on, i hope she finds someone better than that shit show she has been tied too. And, i have no issue with her bleeding him dry, and i wish she would give a tell all because men like him need to be exposed…

Just talking to my friends, co workers so many still believe Johnny is innocent, or that she somehow deserved it because she is a ‘gold digger’…. Honestly the man sickens me .

  7. Grace says:

Just when I thought this man couldn’t make himself look more guilty, then he comes out barking some more. Shut up and pay up! And get some help, seriously!

  8. Pandora says:

Why would he leak anything if she stops leaking? Do you guys seriously think he wants to keep it going in the press?

    • Zapp Brannigan says:

He seems to want to ruin her in the press, a power play if you will. He did the same to Vanessa when they split with all his stories to US Weekly that his friend Jann Wenner publishes.

      • mmm says:

Maybe Vanessa also has a 100k fine and that’s why she never defended herself or speak about him until his PR team required her to write that letter to TMZ

      • Pandora says:

I have a hard time believing he wanted to ‘ruin’ the mother of his children. They seem to be on good terms now.

      • Cinder says:

Right? Does no one remember the boatload of stories from the moment the split with Vanessa was announced about her being a nag, ruining his good ol boy fun, and being a frosty French prude? A lot of that was leaked by US mag, where he has friends and friends of friends on that staff. He did the exact same thing with Amber from the minute this split was announced; his family never liked her, his mother told him she was a wh*re, Lilly Rose especially hated her and of course the false pictures of her coming out of Tiffany’s the day of the split trying to paint the ‘gold digger narrative when whoops! Wenner forgot to destroy the geotag on them before she gave them to the press and everyone found out the were really from a month ago, giving the first little peek into the background of his PR machine.

  9. Jacqueline says:

Tabloids that protect their sources not withstanding, it would be very difficult (if not impossible) to prove the source of a “leak.” And I wouldn’t put it past Depp to try to fabricate Team Amber leaks. I thinks she wants the paperwork, she wants her money and she wants OUT. He is a fool to try to poke the bear and drag this out at any length.

You know what all of this is, more abuse and manipulation.

  10. shay says:

I watched Gilbert Grape the other night, and I’d forgotten how gorgeous he used to be! Made me sad.

  11. JenniferJustice says:

Amber just needs to let others leak the details for her and when he comes at her claiming it was her, yell “Prove it!!” every single time.

  12. K.C. says:

He sickens me. If he had nothing to hide, he wouldn’t be so concerned about her leaking information to the press, because there would be nothing to leak.

If she were slandering him, that’s one thing. But wanting to silence her from leaking ANY information indicates that what she says is true, and he doesn’t want it getting out.

I continue to wish her the best through this.

    • Ruth says:

Read my comment above. The confidential agreement has nothing to do with the abuse accusations

      • Andrew says:

Maybe Amber doesn’t feel its justified to pay a $100,000 fine for her ACCOUNTANT leaking info. Why should she be held responsible for others actions? Especially when Depp has stood by and did nothing while his friends have written articles on the Internet accusing her of blackmailing him (not only did he do nothing he texted them and thanked them “for being honest”).

  13. Kate says:

What is he hiding? That’s a huge fine!

  14. Shockadelica81 says:

He acting like a typical abuser who’s pissed because his wife left then exposed him for the hideous person that he is! He refuses to hand over records because he wants to drag this out and punish her for telling the truth. And no way should she sign any ridiculous confidentiality agreement! He controlled and abused her for years and now he’s still trying to do it. And just like some other comments have said, I think he’d leak some stuff out then blame her just to punish her even more.

  15. jackie says:

The reason I have absolutely no problem believing Jonny is a scumbag of the very highest order is because of his deep friendships and hero worship of Hunter. S. Thompson and Allen Ginsberg. Sick and twisted doesn’t even begin to describe these two depraved freaks. Ginsberg was a well-known kiddy fiddler, and as for Thompson… google his links to the Franklin Scandal… who knows how far down the rabbit hole that one goes. It’s no wonder Jonny took a shine to the Memphis 3. He’s also deeply involved in the occult and appears to be a satanist. In other words, his problems go far deeper than mere issues with drugs and alcohol. My guess is he doesn’t want his financial records made public because he’s been quietly funding some very dubious activities and people. Amber Heard is well out of it. Good luck to her.

    • Trashaddict says:

Want to give some links on the whole “occult and appears to be a satanist thing”? Not taking sides, just curious.

  16. JRenee says:

This is bananas. Johnny stop, you’re making yourself look worse if that’s possible.

  17. just says:

I’m sorry, but why would anyone sign a confidentiality agreement that proposes you be fined $100,000 for every leak even if you were not the one to leak it? That’s stupidity. His team could easily leak to TMZ and accuse her of breaking the confidentiality agreement. She cannot afford it. Her lawyer would be incompetent if she did not object to that. If it proposed that only SHE be fined if SHE leaks information, that is acceptable. Asking her experts and witnesses who testify to also sign non-disclosure agreements is too far, in my opinion. I understand it is strictly about his financial information, but nothing has been leaked about his finances and we already know he makes an ungodly amount. I can understand him wanting to his medical records and “fashion contracts” to be private, but if that was their goal, surely they would not have included such a ridiculous clause in the confidentiality agreement.

People accuse Heard of stalling the divorce because she asked to be deposed on a weekend when she is not working, but Depp’s lawyers have asked for a postponement, pushed the hearing for the divorce to September, and then they try to make it seem like Heard is dodging her deposition when, in reality, the judge rejected Depp’s initial request to have her deposed because his lawyers did not follow protocol. I want to give him benefit of the doubt, but it seems like his team really does try to make her look bad in the media.

  18. Judy says:

She is bad……a gold digger whore, that planned every move to get his bucks!!!I hope she gets nothing……..

  19. Andrew says:

While I can understand wanting your financial information private and confidential it is absolutely ridiculous to expect Amber to agree to being fined $100,000 for leaks that may or may not even come from her. Why should she be held responsible for what her accountant does if the accountant goes rogue and decides to leak stuff on his own? Using a TMZ story about a proposed settlement as a reason for why Amber is not trustworthy with his financial info is also questionable, because if she was going to leak info to anyone why would it be to the one news outlet that has been Pro-Depp in most of their coverage of this divorce? That doesn’t make sense to me.

I think its also hilarious how Depp’s team was so desperate to get Amber in for a deposition but bulked at it taking place on a weekend. Are you kidding me?

  20. Ellie says:

I disagree, her team are TERRIBLE.

Every single move Johnny Depp has made should have been predictable by a good crisis PR firm. You’re acting as if she should have been SURPRISED that Johnny tried to defend himself. Why? have you never seen a case played out by the media before? Did her lawyers and PR people think that Johnny would just sit there and allow her to smear him? That Disney wouldn’t pay for the best crisis PR team in the business?

This is war. And she seemed woefully unprepared. She constantly went back and forth. One minute asking for financial, next minute not. One minute making the police reports, the next minute not. The pap walks at church but then out with friends.

I actually think he did it but her people are SO AMATEUR AND BAD AT THEIR JOBS. She should have called Katie Holmes and asked for her team.

    • Andrew says:

“Did her lawyers and PR people think that Johnny would just sit there and allow her to smear him?” I am sorry what? Is Amber the one who’s friends are writing articles on the Internet accusing Johnny Depp of blackmailing her?

      Who has smeared who here?

  21. Rebecca says:

I am not understanding why his team is claiming that the confidentiality agreement only applies to financial documents. Her team is claiming it is more than that. Is it?
Why doesn’t Johnny Depp want the public to know about his finances? We all know he is rich. What’s up with that? What strange things is he spending his money on?

I wish someone would post a copy of this confidentiality agreement they want her to sign so we would know if he is trying to sneak something else in there.
