Kanye West: ‘All I gotta say is, I am so glad my wife has Snapchat…’

FFN_West_Kanye_FF9FF10_071416_52122051

Since his wife dropped the receipts, Kanye West has been pretty quiet, meaning Kanye hasn’t said anything directly. His team has been active, with unnamed sources going quote-for-quote with Taylor Swift’s team in the press. The gist is that Kanye is done. He’s tired of being misrepresented. He’s tired of being the fall guy. He’s tired of being demonized as the big, black monster by Team Swift. So, Kanye West said as much last night when he performed in Chicago.

Kanye West feels vindicated. The 39-year-old rapper made a surprise appearance during Drake’s concert at the United Center in Chicago Wednesday. The hip-hop heavyweights performed their collaboration, “Pop Style,” before West transitioned to his own song, “Famous.”

Addressing the crowd, he said, “All I gotta say is, I am so glad my wife has Snapchat, because now y’all can know the truth and can’t nobody talk s–t about ‘Ye no more.”

West let the crowd rap his “I made that bitch famous” line during Wednesday’s performance. Before he left the stage, West performed another song from The Life of Pablo, “Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 1.”

[From E! News]

I’m including the video below. I don’t really have anything to add. I mean, after all of the sh-t that Kanye has gotten over the years, I think he’s allowed to declare victory, however temporary that victory may be (because Taylor is definitely keeping a list of all of the people who have pissed her off this month).

Meanwhile, there was a rumor going around that Kanye and Calvin Harris were looking to work together, which is sort of weird because Kanye mostly produces his own stuff anyway. A source told E! News yesterday that Calvin “wants to make some music with Kanye down the road” and Calvin thinks Kanye is “brilliant with music.” But today, TMZ reports that Calvin does not want to make music with Kanye because Calvin knows it would be seen as an anti-Taylor Swift diss track and Calvin is done with the drama. Yeah… I don’t think Calvin is done with the drama, but that’s a conversation for another time.

    So Kanye said no.

    • Ana says:

      Calvin is working with jlo.

    • Petee says:

As much as I don’t like Taylor I really dislike him more.I wish everyone could see that all Kim’s post’s are Kanye. He is on a tight leash because of all the crazy stuff he posted before. They all disgust me.

  2. HH says:

I wonder if Taylor is going to get a new squad when she emerges with a new image? Because a new image is being plotted as we speak. I don’t recall anyone that was at her 4th of July party coming to bat for her.

Also, I hope Kim, Kanye, and Co. don’t drag this out. When you’ve scored a victory, take the W and walk away.

    • lilacflowers says:

They have been dragging it out for over five months.

      • HH says:

Haha! Yes, technically it started back in Feb, but they’ve been letting it periodically die down. They haven’t prolonged it to the point of getting tired of it… YET.

    • K.C. says:

The fact that they waited this long to drop the “evidence” (to coincide with KUWTK episodes, of course) indicates that they’re more than willing to drag it out.

      • HH says:

Don’t speak it into existence KC. I won’t be able to take it. I’ve already had my fun. 😉

      • Clare says:

Why wouldn’t they drag it out? Gossip and drama is Kim’s bread and butter, just like diss tracks and exes and playing the victim in Taylor’s bread and butter.

    • nikko says:

Why shouldn’t they drag it out. Taylor and her team draggggged out what Kanye did for years, so what’s wrong w/ a few more months. I’m so happy for Kanye; he’s not the big bad wolf everyone portrayed him to be. I’m glad Kim had Snapchat too!

  3. CidySmiley says:

Oh Kanye, I’m glad she does too! This is long overdue, yeah?

  4. K.C. says:

“Y’all can know the truth and can’t nobody talk s–t about ‘Ye no more.” I mean, not about this specific incident, but there still remains wealth of other issues to pull from for material, dude.

  5. The Eternal Side-Eye says:

Can’t fault the man for that one. At the end of the day Kim and Kanye let Taylor define this interaction. I think what they said was true that Taylor wanted to have the thrill of the single being released, media expecting her to be furious and her being cool and laughing it off to “Guys, I was in on it the whole time”

I think the snapchat video would have worked well for promo/the music video/Taylor to prove she was part of the creative process. Everyone from Justin Bieber to Beyonce includes personal video clips/and phone calls for their music videos. What ended up happening and screwing Taylor in the process is she went back on her word and totally changed what was supposed to be her part in the song.

She wanted to have a feminist moment declaring how she’d never let someone take credit for her work and never spoke to Kanye never knowing the receipts were lying right there. I’m glad Kim waited to show it, I think if she’d shown it immediately Taylor would have whipped up some convenient defense about forgetting and Apple-pie’d her way through it. Now it can’t be denied.

    • Kate says:

I think TS genuinely wanted and planned on doing what they said they were going to do, but by the time Kanye’s album finally came out everyone was really sick of her and she needed to change the conversation. The original plan would have had them both blatantly trolling for attention, and her image really did not need that right then, so she acted like she got dragged into it against her will and turned it into a faux feminist moment.

So basically she threw him under the bus because she’d rather backstab someone and get a free overexposure pass for a few months than do the smart thing and go underground for a while.

    • OhDear says:

      Completely agreed.

(I admire his restraint in this situation, actually. If someone threw me under the bus like she did I would be hiring skywriters for at least a year warning about her snakiness, lol)

  6. Megan says:

What a bunch of middle schoolers.

  7. lilacflowers says:

And another plug for Kim’s Snapchat account. It is all about the advertising. It is all about Kim.

    • NewWester says:

Actually I think Miranda Kerr must also be happy about this Taylor Swift/Kimye feud. All this mention about Snapchat must mean more people hearing about and signing up for the service. Which means more money for her boyfriend Evan Spiegel who owns the company and also more money he can spend on her when they marry. Win win situation

  8. Common Sense says:

He calls himself Ye? lol, I love it. incidentally Kanye is a name of a place in Botswana, I wonder if his mom named him after the place. also; North West is the name of a province here in South Africa. It is home to mostly Batswana or Tswana people, so the seem to be a Setswana connection between Ye and his daughter. 😉

  9. Micki says:

I’m eternally thankful for the drama and only hope he won’t patent ” I made this bitch famous”.

  10. Jana says:

Please stop with the racist crap here? One idiot video director referred to Taylor as an Innocent Blonde Woman. Which was extremely stupid, and as far as I’m aware, he was the only person who has said something like that about this drama. Except for this website. Has Kanye come out and said that this drama is racist? Had he stated that he’s tired of being “demonized as the big black monster”?

Please stop trying to incite racist arguments where they don’t exist! Focus instead on what really exists, such as Black Lives Matter. And I’m a woman of color, for the record.

    • Bab says:

This! For the record I’m a black woman too.

    • mytake says:

Completely disagree. Insidious, coded, dog-whistle racism is the ignored crazy glue that keeps systemic racism firmly in place. All levels / types of racism must be addressed for us to get to the next level in terms of equality (as a society). Taylor Swift has been oh-so-subtly using her white privilege for years.

      Opinion from another black woman.

      • Katie says:

She may have been using white-privilege over the years for different things (and *maybe* not realizing it, maybe so) but that doesn’t mean this was all “Insidious, coded, dog-whistle racism”.
If we keep trying and looking for ways to divide, you (we, society) will always find it!

    • HH says:

RE: “Except for this website.” >>> Just a couple links:

      http://www.cosmopolitan.com/entertainment/celebs/a61501/taylor-swift-kim-kardashian-exposed/

      http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/some-truths-about-swiftgate-and-convenient-feminism_us_578ce254e4b0c53d5cfa2a84

RE: “Please stop trying to incite racist arguments where they don’t exist! Focus instead on what really exists, such as Black Lives Matter. ” >>> People can and do focus on both. Acknowledging the racial optics here doesn’t preclude one from also being concerned with BLM, and other matters of social justice.

ETA: Are we calling out our blackness here? Seems like this is turning into an unofficial role call. So, also for the record, I’m a WOC. #TheresMyAfricanAmerican

      • Jana says:

HH: Thanks for posting the link to the Huff Post article. It provides a good look at both sides of the coin.

    • The Eternal Side-Eye says:

Not all racism is blatant cross-burning on someone’s lawn. Racism can be as subtle and hateful as them always darkening Kanye’s skin tone in articles where they bash him. In making sure when they were discussing Taylor Swift vs. Nicki Minaj Taylor got the innocent perfectly poised photos next to Nicki who would have outdated photos up where her mouth was open and she looked like a snarling animal.

With Kanye there’s been a huge part of the commentary on his relationship to Taylor that is dog whistles. The implication of how this big black brute was obsessed with her, how everything he did was done to her without her consent (one of the major reasons people were so furious on HER behalf for ‘Famous’), Taylor herself even incited it by claiming she never spoke to Kanye (so now he’s delusional and a liar) when she gave him two personal phone numbers and told him it was okay he rushed her at the VMA stage.

ETA: Ha! Since we’re doing this I suppose I too shall also mention I am a woman of Africa.

    • eto says:

Even if I agreed with you that there weren’t racist and prejudice undertones in the media’s portrayal of this feud, I don’t think there’s any matter to small to discuss. Like when people were saying Oscarssowhite wasn’t important and we should be talking BLM – things like this are all part of it. POC representation in celeb journalism, mainstream Hollywood, and police brutality are all important in shaping the perception of POC in America.

    • Miss Jupitero says:

Not a POC here (since we are doing a roll call, I am Irish and Sicilian) and I thought the coded racism was really obvious. Really blindingly obvious.

    • teacakes says:

I’m not black but I am a WOC (Indian, to be exact). It’s really not hard to see the dog-whistle racism on this one, sorry. Kanye is a jackass but this time, he wasn’t a lying jackass.

    • Veronica says:

I don’t think it was overtly malicious on her part in that regard, but the issue here is more how insidious forms of racism tend to be weaved into the narrative of these things. Taylor benefits from being an attractive, blonde-haired and blue-eyed woman, which allowed her to promote an image of innocently driven hard work over calculated ambition. Kanye is a black man and would never have an opportunity to promote such an image of himself. Do I think Taylor herself is actively racist? Probably not. Do I think she benefitted from the mainstream perception of black rap culture as problematic, sexist, and dangerous? Yeah.

  11. Sun says:

Kanye is and always be a douche. From the first low-class move when he jumped on stage and interrupted her accepting the award she won, he’s been ridiculously obsessed with TS. Do I care one way or another about her. No. But I know a setup when I see it. Now he is all busy playing the victim like a girl and he needs his wife/mommy to be vengeful for him. All around it betokens a lot of nasty personality traits–all extraordinarily low class.

    • teacakes says:

      dog-whistle, right here!

And this: “Now he is all busy playing the victim like a girl ” – you mean, like Taylor Swift herself?

Let’s not even get into what “extraordinarily low class” “nasty personality traits” are betokened by Taylor Swift publicly lying and misleading people about the content of a conversation with someone who specifically said he’d take out the lyric about her if she wasn’t cool with it, and to whom she said it was like a “compliment” at the time.

  12. Margo S. says:

Kanye usually collaborates with other artists so he could work with calvin. And if Taylor even tries to come out complaining about everyone who has been “mean” to her this past month, it’s going to be a big joke and people are not going to support her. They will just laugh and say “grow up 26 year old.”

  13. Mary says:

The guy is 39 right? If I’m acting like this at 39, God help me.

    • kimnotkardashian says:

Acting like what…? All he did was say one sentence defending himself.

      • Katie says:

I’m pretty sure though the audience probably didn’t ask for a statement on the issue. So all it was was him “stirring the pot” and starting more talk about the drama. You know all those in the audience went home and told everyone they know what he said!

  14. Squiggisbig says:

Kimye should take a page from Beyonce’s book. She made one reference to “Becky with the good hair” and didn’t mention it again. Always be Beyoncé.

    • jeanpierre says:

“I’ll never be picture-perfect Beyoncé (…) Everything I’m not made me everything I am”
      Kanye West, 2007.

  15. respect says:

I still want to hear the whole thing and wonder why they won’t release it. Swift gave themvide the go on it….perhaps it might show that certain things were not said? Like donald’s tax returns…i don’t trust any of these people enough to take thier word for anything..

    • AnnaKist says:

Re: respect – “I don’t trust any of these people enough to take thier word for anything..” I’ve felt the same from the start. Small sippers, as in SnapChat videos, make me highly suspicious…

  16. ygsf says:

Yawn. The biggest tragedy is that Kim and Kanye have two children that they brought into this world and are parenting with their f*cked up morals. So sad.

    • teacakes says:

Won’t someone think of the children!

Taylor Swift’s sanctimonious hypocrite of a best friend already tried that, this isn’t even original.

  17. Ana says:

Diplos snapchat shows someone wearing that t shirt that says – Taylor swift career 1989-2016 😂

It’s amazing how many people she’s managed to piss off.

    • joanne says:

what an amazing childish thing for a man to wear. the hate and vitriol for Taylor is over the top. when Kim Kardashian and her sisters are admired for their vile behaviour and a successful artist is mocked, there is something very wrong.

      • ??? says:

Except that Taylor’s behaviour in lying and calling out Kanye at the Grammy’s is what’s actually vile……….. and please, don’t EVEN get me started on how childish she is. Have you forgotten that she is turning 27 this year? She’s not 13 years old anymore. I think it’s actually kind of gross that you’re so apologetic of her.

I hate to think how snobby you are of people in fields below what you deem as respectable. The Kardashians, like them or not (I do not), are wildly successful in their fields. So if that’s your only marker of respect for someone, then the Kardashians deserve it too.

      • teacakes says:

@??? – the Kardashians horrify me, but Kim getting famous off a sex tape does not mean she’s lying. That shit is on tape!

      • Veronica says:

While I am rolling my eyes are the celebs who are jumping on this to get their name out there, I don’t really consider it that dramatic of a situation. Taylor has a well established career, a lot of money, and an incredible PR machine. I think she’ll retool her image and come back just fine.

      • Otaku Fairy says:

The fact that a lot of people are taking Kimye’s side on this one doesn’t mean Taylor is mocked and Kim and her sisters and mother are admired. Both the Swifts and the Kardashians have people who like them and people who dislike them.

  18. Kim has snapchat? She better get to the doctor. Is. It contagious?

  19. Scarlett says:

I’ve always loved Kanye. And I’ve always loved Taylor. But when he said he called to ask her about the song I thought “yeah right”. It just didn’t seem like something he would do. Then Taylor said he didn’t and I felt even more reassured. Boy was I wrong! As Kim said – I really used to be a fan of hers. Not anymore, girl bye.

  20. respect says:

I would like to see swift get dragged by someone more famous and successful..at that point ok…but every single person throwing themselves into this is milking publicity. Anna Wintour…Bey..what do you think?

  21. Matchday says:

Kanye and Kim gave us the greatest internet party ever: KimExposedTaylorParty. There was music (Calvin and Katy), dips, a petting zoo with snakes, dragging of a liar, the snatching of wigs, drinks, dancing. It will live on forever, so yeah, I’m glad your wife has snapchat too.

  22. Veronica says:

Eh, I think he has a right to one or two swipes, all things considered. I just hope he cleans up his act and irons out his financial issues in the next couple years.

  23. Jag says:

I don’t really follow him that much, but had he said different things and acted differently, people would’ve seen things differently.

The fact that the “receipts” are shown now just shows that they played it to take this long. It’s disagreeable to me that they think they are such media masters.
