People: Taylor Swift ‘seemed very happy’ that Tom came to LA with her

FFN_VAH_Swift_Taylor_070616_52114337

Taylor Swift finally “broke her silence” yesterday. I mean, if you’ve been paying attention to The Summer of Swifty (more like the Summer of Swifty Backlash), you know that she hasn’t really been quiet since Kim Kardashian dropped the receipts. You’ve read all of the quotes from unnamed sources and you’ve interpreted the pap strolls just as you should have. But Taylor was quiet. Silent as the grave. Until Instagram introduced “Instagram Stories,” which is just Instagram pulling a Melania Trump and copying the sh-t out of Snapchat. Instagram Stories are just short little videos that can’t be embedded, but of course Taylor’s fansites caught Taylor’s first-ever Instagram Story. And it involved her kitty Olivia.

So there you go: Taylor Swift “broke her silence.” With a kitty. Boom! Frankly, Olivia and Meredith are two of my favorite parts of covering Taylor, so if she wants to just spend the next year posting cat photos and videos, I’ll be here for it.

Meanwhile, People Magazine had an update on the Tiddles situation. I guess we needed an update from a Swift-loyal source (unnamed) because Tom Hiddleston ran off to Australia without Tay-Tay. So what’s going on with The Glorious Tiddlebanging?

Hiddleswift is heating up. Last week, Tom Hiddleston and Taylor Swift took their love back to L.A. – where the singer has a home – for some rest and relaxation before the actor jetted solo back to Australia to continue shooting Thor: Ragnorak.

“Tom and Taylor seem great,” a source tells PEOPLE exclusively. “They spent quiet nights at Taylor’s home and she seemed very happy that he spent time in L.A. with her.”

While the singer, 26, and the actor, 35, hit their respective gyms and ran errands during the day solo, they reunited for dinner dates, like their romantic meal at Santa Monica steakhouse, Hillstone.

“They were tucked away on the second floor,” a restaurant source tells PEOPLE. “They seemed very happy and held hands at the table. They were very relaxed, polite and very pleasant.”

Since they began dating, the “Shake It Off” singer and the Crimson Peak actor have barely spent any time apart.

“After their long Australia trip, you would think they need some space,” says the source. “But they are the happiest when they are together.”

And though it’s only been six weeks since they were first photographed kissing near her Rhode Island home, the relationship appears to be anything but a fling.

“For such a new relationship, they act very serious,” says the source.

[From People]

This made me chuckle: “She seemed very happy that he spent time in L.A. with her.” There’s so much to parse there!!! Like, who cares how Tom is feeling? The important thing here is that Taylor is very happy and that she continues to find happiness in Tom spending time with her in LA. I don’t know you guys… I would love to hear from a Hiddles-source right about now.

You gotta love cat videos. What is up with the fountain in the corner?

    • Aussie girl says:

Ha! I thought it was a bird bath for a second.

    • PikaBoo says:

Isn’t that a scratching post for cats?

      • shelly says:

Oh No secret that sucks. I’ve never had a cat die on me yet, as they all seem to run off.
Not sure if that’s better or worse.

        Wrong place.

Secret, condolences on your little “Boo”

    • Luca76 says:

My friend has one of those some cats won’t drink standing water. Her cat only drank from the bathtub spout which was very annoying. When I had cats they would push their water dish around and then drink the water that fell on the floor. A fountain is constantly flowing and they will drink it. It uses the same water over and over so it’s not that wasteful. (There is a small amount of evaporation obviously).

      • lilacflowers says:

My cat perches on the bathroom sink to drink water from the faucet. I had to train her not to stand behind me in the shower because she would try to drink the water falling from the shower head and I would trip over her.

      • Sixer says:

I had a cat who would only drink outside from rainwater puddles. I had to put saucers in the garden when it was dry! If stuck indoors, she would always try to sneak in the bathroom, straddle the toilet bowl, and drink from that. Nothing else in the house would do.

      • Luca76 says:

Cute 😀. Makes me miss my cats. As I said below I don’t think that’s a cat fountain though it’s too high and close to the ceiling.

      • Secret squirrel says:

I just want to hijack this thread for a moment to say I had to have my favourite little furball “Boo” (real name Benny) put down 2 days ago after a rapid deterioration in a chronic illness.

My favourite memory of him (amongst many) is probably the day he came running inside to me completely dry on the front half and completely soaked on the back half after falling into the fishpond. I have no doubt he was probably distracted by a passing butterfly or his own shadow!

R.I.P my little buddy. I miss you already

      • Sixer says:

        RIP Benny.

      • Aussie girl says:

Secret squirrel hugs to you. Boo isn’t in any more pain, But it must be sad for you and your other fur baby not having him there xo

      • OTHER RENEE says:

Secret Squirrel, I’m so very sorry for your loss. RIP Benny.

      • Secret squirrel says:

Thanks everyone. I am blessed to have known the unconditional love for/of a cat.

      • Lilacflowers says:

Rest in peace, Benny. Hugs to you, Secret Squirrel

      • AlmostThere says:

Secret Squirrel I’ve been there too. It’s hard. As you said though, you’ve been blessed with the love and joy Bunny brought to you.

        RIP Bunny Boo.

      • Imqrious2 says:

BIG hugs, Secret Squirrel! I’ve been there, too (3 loveable, goofy cats, and two sweet, loving dogs). It may help knowing you did the ultimate loving act by alleviating his suffering.

        RIP Boo.

      • EnnuiAreTheChampions says:

So sorry @secretsquirrel. Benny/Boo sounds like he was good people. It’s so hard to lose a beloved pet.

      • Grace says:

        Poor Benny. Rest in Peace.

      • Luca76 says:

        Aww RIP 😥 Benny

      • Nicole says:

My bengal Boris, 13 today, will only drink from the spout too

      • Secret squirrel says:

Again, thank you everyone. Boo was definitely a clumsy clown of a cat!

      • sa says:

@secret squirrel, I’m so sorry for your loss.

      • LinaLamont says:

        @Secret squirrel

        RIP “Boo” Benny

      • Boo says:

Secret Squirrel, i’m very sorry about my username here. Sending hug and sincere condolences. That fish pond mishap memory is a great one 🙂

    • Becky says:

I thought it was some weird piece of furniture but you’re right it’s does look like a fountain.

      • Aussie girl says:

Look I understand love for your cat but if this is a fountain for her cats to drink out of, I’m sorry that just takes crazy cat lady to the max. I’m sure I’m going to offend someone that has one for their fur babies but wow, to me that’s excessive.

      • Luca76 says:

Actually I don’t think that’s a cat fountain way too high. But there’s nothing wrong with having a fountain for your cats you can get one at a pet store for like 40$.

      • Aussie girl says:

I don’t think the $40 one would be like that. But I stand by what I said , IF it was a big arse fountain in her bedroom for her cast that to me is excessive. Nothing wrong with having one per say though. But I’m with you in thinking that this is not the case with Taylor.

      • Sixer says:

Aussie girl – aren’t a great many cats in the US housebound? Which would mean that sometimes owners need to get creative for drinking? It’s very rare to own a cat that doesn’t go outside here in the UK.

      • Aussie girl says:

Sixer, I’m not against the cat fountain, I’m pro cat fountain and will be getting t shirts printed up letting all know😊.
I honestly have never heard of them and thought she had a big arse one in her bedroom and that would seem excessive to me and perhaps ( cough)I did throw in crazy cat lady (cough).
As for inside or outside cats in Australia it really depends. My Kevin is an outside cat, he came to me a bit feral but is a softy now that sleeps inside. I don’t have a litter box for him because he does his business outside. My sister’s cat is an inside one, he has issues and doesn’t like the outside. Again it depends, I live in rural area and it would vary from metro or person to cat.
Apologises to all cat fountain owners.
Again; Pro cat fountain!! Make cat fountains great again! I’m with cat fountain!! 😊

      • Secret squirrel says:

It looks to me like the middle tier of that fountain has ornaments on it and is being used as a shelf.

      • AlmostThere says:

@Sixer, aside from maybe N.Y. city or really cold parts of the country, most cats are indoor/outdoor. Indoor only cats seem to be the owners preference to have more control that the cat doesn’t get in fights and acquire veterinary care. Also prevent them from getting run off and getting lost, hit by a car or eaten by coyotes. Definitely all hazards of being a cat or dog owner, but never the less most cats tend to do as they please and come and go as they please regardless of the owners wishes.

      • lilacflowers says:

My furry roommate is a house cat by my decree but she loves to be outside so I let her outside in my screened-in front porch (she races inside if anyone approaches the house) or she will go out to my open back porch with me but she must wear a harness and a leash to do that. She knows she must have her harness on to go outside. She hates it but she will wear it just so she can go out on the porch, where she immediately stretches out on the floor and goes to sleep. Too many cars, strangers, trains, and wild animals for me to feel comfortable letting her loose out there. Also outdoor cats are more susceptible to certain diseases here, like rabies.

    • It'sJustBlanche says:

Sorry about your little kitty. I still miss my Petunia and it’s been several years.

  2. akua says:

More like she happy with all the things going on. She needs someone

  3. shelly says:

I would “seem” happy too, if my bf was copping all the flack for the relationship, while I kept my head down until the Kimye thing went away.

She should have asked the cat to ‘give Daddy Tom a wave’ so at least she could have acknowledged the poor blokes existence, outside of a pap walk and some questionable PDA’s.

  4. LB says:

All that white and beige in her house. So many jokes. So little time.

    • shelly says:

      Lol.
Its nice that the cat matches the décor though.

    • Sixer says:

My house is painted in various shades of green. Soft furnishings are all green. Is that a good or a bad thing? (I like green).

      • shelly says:

Green is good, I do like a bit of individuality in home décor.

Nothing wrong with Taytay’s room, its just a bit bland for my tastes. She strikes me as a person who hasn’t really developed her own style, so plays it safe.

I am basing this on sources close to Taylor (or my own imagination)

      • lilacflowers says:

Green is the color of zucchini and broad beans. Green is good. It is a relaxing color.

      • Becky says:

Shelly, I watched that Vogue vid where she gave them a tour of her LA house (downstairs only) and I had house envy. Then I thought she must have designers, stylists and assistants to furnish her properties for her.

      • Sixer says:

Yay. Green is good. My interior decor radar is a bit like my grooming radar: permanently switched off. There are only two constants: like green; dislike photographs of family on display.

      • shelly says:

I haven’t seen that vid Becky, but I would imagine she has stylists and decorators doing all her thinking for her.

She would be in sole charge of nic nacs, ornaments and cat fountains though.

      • Secret squirrel says:

I find green very peaceful and refreshing, unless it is a lurid glow in the dark green or a 1970’s Avocado throwback.

My house is mostly warm greys, whites and creams so I am probably only one notch more adventurous than Taylor in the decorating realm.

      • Lilacflowers says:

My front hall, dining room and home office are green. Most of the rooms in my tenant’s apartment are also green.

      • Erinn says:

I have a problem with picking paint. Two really. I work in web design/ development… so I have a ginormous color wheel to select from – I can sometimes picture a color in my head that I want on a wall, and then just not manage to find anything I like or that comes close to it in paint chips. Then, the other issue is that we have one blue room. But whenever I look at colors to paint other rooms – I just want to paint everything various shades of blue.

      • Dippit says:

My parents’ house is a study in shades of greens and russets. Very autumnal and suits them.

I’m burgundy, other shades on red, with some deep blues and, whites, and greys thrown in – feature/pattern walls and chimney breasts too. I like deep and lush. My decorator says I’m the least afraid of colour client he has, but he enjoys working in anything but the all too frequent magnolia he’s mostly tasked with.

I think each to their own; I’m all for living with what you like to live in, not presenting a home for the purposes of appearing in an architectural/design digest.

    • Dhavynia says:

I don’t know why it reminds me of a place where Dame Edna would reside

  5. Zav says:

    PR game again

  6. Looty says:

    That is a cute kitty.

    • LinaLamont says:

She looks like a meerkat. Cute.

    • Kitten says:

      SCOTTISH FOLDS!!! ♥ ♥

I can’t believe I almost missed this post because KAISER wasn’t kind enough to point out in the headline that kitties are featured!
You know the rules, Kaiser, kitties and puppies and animals of any kind must be mentioned up-front!

  7. Sixer says:

Hiddles sources have all gone poof in a cloud of cognitive dissonance and failed attempts at triangulation.

    • Becky says:

      Too much conflict!

    • lilacflowers says:

They’re trying to erect a barrier around Australia so he can’t get out and she can’t get in. He’s easy to distract with work but she’s quite a bit more difficult.

      • MI6 says:

        Ha, Lilac! #funny
Next sighting will be an Instagram from the set showing Tom working hard.
The proposal denial was already issued via GC, but I don’t think that was Luke. I think it was her people. She can’t appear desperate and clingy (even though she is).
Next we’ll start hearing about how hard long-distance relationships are…
        😉

      • jammypants says:

        *gigglesnort*

    • Sixer says:

I think they are frantically inputting the data and getting “computer says no” spat back out. And someone’s weeping and saying, “But an iPhone is 120,000,000 times faster than the computers that put man on the Moon. WHY WON’T THIS WORK?”

      • Dippit says:

I think they’re (Taylor’s publicist interns) frantically throwing every ‘fantasy, fairytale, and happiest of all happy things EVER” at the walls of social media, tabloids, and comments blogs and seeing if anything ‘seemingly “authentic”‘ seems to stick. Plus they’re full-on using shills and social media agency workers to place similarly worded positive sentiment and up-votes to narrative push for all it’s worth – and still the people say “nope, does not compute”.

The only plus to their use of shills is that at least a whole load of (sadly, most likely minimum wagers) are getting work 24/7 in shifts to keep TayTo seem ‘real’ and Taylor appear the precious princess she thinks of herself as. Soul destroying work mind you.

I find the now frequent use of “seem(s/ed)”, of late, an interesting modifier though.

      • Dara says:

@Dippit, that’s the one thing about this whole thing that has me scratching my head. Why the full-court press from day one trying to sell this thing as forever love? Is it her team that are planting all the fairy tale stories, or do the tabloids do it themselves because they know that’s what her fans will fall all over themselves to believe? If it is her team, why would they continue to do it once they see how much ridicule it brings? Color me confused.

      • browniecakes says:

And, the couple days in July Tom was home, he puts together a production company (Lilacflowers found that) presumably for Unicef’s benefit and we hear nothing about that in the press. No balance to the nonsense.
How did Calvin put up with this for 15 months? Other than refusing to go to stuff. That kind of cost him with the Met Gala.

      • Sixer says:

Perhaps LEGS put Luke on the naughty step. I think all the PR people should be on the naughty step since we haven’t had a decent (read: hilarious) photo in ages. Who is interested in “sources”? Not me. I WANT PICTURES. Funny ones.

      • jammypants says:

        @Dara, color me also confused

      • Dippit says:

@Dara – simply my take: there was a lot in the mix for why they rushed ‘the relationship’ roll out…

Tom: Worked solid for two years on profile increase (especially for US/Lead/Carry a movie/AList status) and yet he’s had bombs and/or continued to be overshadowed (other than as a Tmblr Boyfriend) by other less bland and more talented Brit-Packers; TNM might have some Emmys’ love but the UK buzz didn’t sustain, and US viewers’ buzz really never hit the level I believe it had been anticipated to reach; Bond; he’s aging out for that big stratospheric break – even his appearance is aging moreso than his cohorts, moreso by the week since Taylor; he came to the attention of Wintour – much in need of a new ‘next IT thing’ to shore up increasing detractors of her helmswomanship at “Vogue”; and he signed on with a seemingly more cutthroat HW/US PR team (whilst retaining elements of his old PR) who most probably promised him a ‘cunning plan’ and a wealth of opportunities – if he compromised himself.

Taylor: No new music out and roundly eclipsed by Adele and Beyonce (even out earned by arch nemesis Katy, I believe?); the ‘squad’ (ick) growing up and away from her – having independent careers in their own right; her image becoming stale; the arrangement with Calvin not bringing her the edgier fan base anticipated of that alliance; more of her manipulations and artifice being called out – even ahead of THE TAPE; Calvin clearly ready to go rogue and leaving her the “undesirable girl” again; knowing THE TAPE existed and, despite months of legal efforts to suppress it, knowing it was coming out; Wintour in the mix – see above; unsustainable/diminishing returns on social media; unsustainable “victimhood”; more enemies than friends in the industry; failure to mature as a person/artist; and too much investment in controlling her entire narrative, and now the concomitant downfall of hubris – thinking she was Teflon coated despite all the ^^^ brewing to create a perfect storm.

Just off the top of my head.

AND their publicists figured they could get away with it – I rather think they were wrong.

      • Evie says:

@Dippit: Applause, applause — terrific analysis of The Hiddleswift Caper! I picture the various PR teams banging their heads against walls in a locked room saying, “why won’t they [the public] believe in the Glorious Tiddles Love?” What can we do to make them believe us?”

      • Dippit says:

@Sixer – would kissing in the rain as Taylor raises one leg, cut to a steam train entering a tunnel… *fade*, suffice?

/In black and white naturally – cinemascope.

OR are you thinking more a “Jackie” mag ’70’s weekly photo story with speech and thought bubbles and a Christmas Annual?

  8. THEPELICAN says:

I assume any “source close to Hiddleston” would just be another member of her PR staff, so why bother.

    • Evie says:

ROFLMAO!!! It’s even funnier when you consider that Hiddleston on his own can never shut up. TayTay silenced TommyAnne!!! Who would have thought?

Note to TommyAnne: Get yourself a couple of Rottweilers….

  9. SilverUnicorn says:

That cat is everything. I cannot comment on the rest because I could not care less about Olivia’s buyer (can’t say servant because I’d bet Olivia is in somebody else’s care…) & her new boyfriend.

  10. PikaBoo says:

Emmy’s on mid September.. so we’re just gonna wait til then for the next pictures?

But being the richest Hiddlestoner, I expect Taylor to fly to Australia in her magical pegacorn. I give her a week or two

  11. spidey says:

People short of something to write home about as they have been seen together since Tom left the continent. Says source close to the magazine.

  12. lilacflowers says:

“They spent quiet nights at Taylor’s home.” Except for those nights he spent at the hotel where he was spotted on multiple occasions. And he was in the states for about a week and a half with part of it spent in New York away from her. People needs to hire its own writers instead of relying on publicists.

    • Secret squirrel says:

I also love the “long Australia trip” part. Two weeks maketh not a long trip! What the blazes did she do to pass the time stuck in that hotel day and night?

      • Lilacflowers says:

Track the Twitter, Snapchat, and Instagram accounts of various frenemies while drafting endless copy about proposal-talk and babies for her “sources” to distribute

      • shelly says:

        Face time the cats.

      • Bonzo says:

Two weeks in OZ as Tom was working and she was had her image dismantled right properly all over the internet probably DID seem like a long time. To her.

      • Christin says:

The hotel staff probably emptied waste fans filled with crumpled pastel paper and emptied glitter pens.

      • jammypants says:

@shelly, what would they say to each other? an hour long of purring? I hope the intern paid to hold the phone is well compensated.

  13. Luca76 says:

I’m not a fan of either on their own (for me the sum is greater than the parts). However from what I’ve heard about Tom’s publicist he’s more of a polite ,traditional, noncommittal, ‘English’ (I’m sorry I know that pisses people off to hear as an adjective), no comment on personal life kind of guy. Whereas we know Taylor publicist is pure Hollywood and leaks like a sieve.

  14. LinaLamont says:

    “for some rest and relaxation”

    Rest and relaxation from WHAT?!

    • Naya says:

From staged papparazzi shoots, of course. You think finding a table in a restaurant with a clear unobstructed view for a camera lens is easy?

    • Sixer says:

Practising in true love poses and facial expressions. Throats don’t bare themselves, you know.

      • phaedra7 says:

One account from “a person in their vicinity” at a restaurant during one of their recent date nights reported that TClingy “rubbed her foot up and down Tom’s calf”. Hmmm. . . . . . . .

    • shelly says:

Hand holding induced repetitive strain injury…

Been injured by an accident at work ? Call ambulance chasers R us.

    • LinaLamont says:

      @Naya
      @Sixer
      @Shelly

      My bad. 🙂

    • Erinn says:

Ugh – I have a friend whos’ CONSTANTLY on facebook whining about how unexciting her life is, and how she just NEEDS a change, and and ADVENTURE! And here she is now onto a ‘I need a breakkkkk I need to relaxxxxx” trend. Mind you, I know her life is pretty stress free for the most part; she’s just one of those people who always think they are a victim and continually express it on social media.

  15. Nicole says:

Lol I could say so much but why bother. I’m keeping my heavy snark for whatever happens from now till the Emmys.

  16. Spiderpig says:

I’m working on a production of King Lear right now and a couple of the crew worked on Hiddleston’s Donmar play and have been laughing so hard about all of this.
The boy always wanted to be super famous.

    • Betti says:

The thirst has always been super strong and obvious with him..

      • phaedra7 says:

I wonder if Tom lamented that he always wanted to have his face on the covers of “People”, “OK”, “Us”, and the like (popular celeb tabloids). He certainly got his wish for a front cover story alright when “The Sun” (newspaper in the same category as ragmag “The National Enquirier”) showed and reported the June RI kiss story. [Be careful what you wish for–you may get it. . . . . .]

    • browniecakes says:

Fame, but at what cost? I really wonder how long this is going to last. There’s a rumor somewhere that Austin Swift doesn’t enjoy Tom’s jokes and humor. The seeds of breakup are being planted.

      • shelly says:

I thought Austin Swift was an invention, so I just googled him, and he does actually exist….

He has the look of a psychopath about him. Although I’m sure he’s really very nice.

    • maria 2 says:

is he interested in the work at all or is it just a mean to be famous? well until now when he’s famous for being someones boyfriend

      • popup says:

I think he cares very much about the work and also cares about becoming famous. I doubt he predicted that he’d gain the most fame via a famous girlfriend, but dating someone famous to become more famous is a tried-and-true ploy in Hollywood. More visibility means more people think of you for roles.

      • Dara says:

I dunno @popup, I think hooking up with Swift, or at least doing so for all the world to see, was a very conscious PR-decision by him and/or his team. Tom tried the “being famous for the work” route and didn’t gain very much, he worked himself into the ground the last two years only to see every project except The Night Manager go over like a lead balloon and he was no more famous in the US than when he started. Now, just a few short months later, and without too much effort, his name recognition has significantly increased in the states. Granted, everyone thinks his name is Tom-Taylor-Swift’s-Boyfriend-Hiddleston, but at least they know who he is.

      • popup says:

@Dara not sure how we are in disagreement. I agree he’s consciously entered this relationship with Taylor, with all its attendant PR machinations, with eyes wide open, knowing that it would raise his own profile. But I don’t think that takes away from his seriousness about the work. Nor do I think this means he doesn’t actually like Taylor or maybe even love her. They’re very alike, IMHO. She is famously ambitious, perhaps ruthlessly so, and she is serious about her own work. I think they both understand that PR is a huge contributor to their success in their line of work. I do think it’s debatable, however, whether this particular line of PR is the best way to go about – the cheesiness, the over-saturation of media, etc. It’s been hilarious but they probably would’ve still received a ton of media attention had they been more subtle about it.

      • Dara says:

@popup, I read your comment too quickly (I’m sneaking over to CB when I should be working), so I probably misinterpreted what you meant. Without assuming anything about their level of feeling for one another, I do think they both played this out very publicly for a reason. I’m not sure it achieved what either of them intended, but I guess time will tell.

      • Secret squirrel says:

@ popup. We are all assuming Taylor is the only stage 3 clinger here. Tom is known for needing to be busy and even that he is a workaholic. However now that he is in a relationship it could easily be that he can pour his energy into that instead of work and he needs her attention as much as she needs his. So long as he is busy doing “something”, he is happy.

      • popup says:

@secret squirrel I agree. I also get the sense that he is very comfortable around powerful women; I think I first picked up on that vibe when he was around Tilda Swinton during his vampire days. And Tay, though younger and less mature, is more “powerful” than he is in many ways. Hence, why Sixer’s ball gags gag resonates deeply.

Now I’m laughing over the image of Taylor as a dom. She’d be the clumsiest handler of ball gags ever.

        @popup

I do Not see how you think they are alike. They couldn’t be more different which is one of the reasons this PR scheme seemed too good to fail. Yes they both have public images. Taylor though is essentially a ‘child star’ that became famous before she developed emotionally and socially. She doesn’t have a sense of who she is outside of her manufactured image.
Tom on the other hand has taken the long way to acting and stardom, especially by HW standards. He finished university before deciding to attend drama school and be a professional actor. Not typical for HW where the younger you are, the better your chances to get work and ‘make it’. You take acting workshops and get coaches as you can afford it, and of course, make connections! (Let me clarify: many HW actors have gone to drama school or college, although not as many have done both.)

I know Hiddles might seem immature, awkward, or dorky. Everyone is capable of being foolish and fun loving at any age. Do not mistake Tom’s boyish playfulness as being truly immature, as in * inexperienced or undiscerning. Tom has been driving his own game for many years now. He has some serious life skills and tenacity that he’s able to sustain and propel himself with, and he is not dependent on a ‘team’ or mom/dad. Taylor has yet to accomplish this on her own. Hopefully she will see this public blowback as a sign to shed her “innocent girl” image and figure out who she is (away from SM).
The reason why this relationship, real or not, works at all is because Tom’s constructive optimism (life skills) propels him forward even through difficult situations. His generous nature will help the both of them through this situation. Taylor is actually lucky to have a guy as mature and kind as Tom around at the worst time of her career.
Not trying to make him a saint. But in his industry, you have to have serious life skills working for you to survive. Actors that are driven and also practice positive life skills are better at sustaining long careers. They can push beyond all the rejection and still be open and enthusiastic, which makes them more attractive. This is no small feat, and imo, a major distinction between Tay and Tom.

Also: Taylor is extremely successful, but that does not mean she is truly powerful as a confident woman is or sexually.

      OOOH! Tell us more!

    • Becky says:

      Spiderpig, I’m not surprised.

And I’m really curious which production that is 😉

    • Miss Jupitero says:

I am not surprised. It’s obvious. Spill more tea, Spiderpig!

      • Spiderpig says:

        Tony Sher’s Lear.

I don’t know any gossip! Except one of my friends who’s a casting director nearly cast Hiddles in a short about three years ago. Which is either cool, workaholic or super thirsty depending on how you look at it,

    • Bonzo says:

Give us moar, Spiderpig… What else have you got?

      • Sixer says:

Just for you dear: Sixlet Major has been angling to watch Stranger Things and, since you liked it, have conceded we’ll start tonight. Will report back!

      • Bonzo says:

YEEESS!! As the stars of the show are tweens, I think he will love it. Those of us who grew up during that time will enjoy the 80’s sitcom intro and all the nods to E.T., Stand By Me, Aliens & Goonies.

There are so many great characters I can’t decide who my favorite is… Dustin, Barb, El, Hopper, Mr. Clarke??

Can’t wait to hear your report!

      • Sixer says:

We needed something. Summer tellyboxing sucks. Still loving Brief Encounters though!

      • Bonzo says:

Yes, I’m enjoying Brief Encounters too.

I’m getting more into Dicte now that I’m into the second season. I was having trouble getting emotionally attached to characters, but Wagner’s wormed his way into my heart this season. I enjoy his interactions with Bendtsen, his partner.

      • Sixer says:

He wanted to play Scrabble instead, so Stranger Things is now pencilled in for tomorrow. We had an argument about -ise and -ize. We made up when he got a triple word score with his Q.

      • bonzo says:

Awesome. I feel like I score a point as a parent if I can distract my kids from their screens to play Zingo Bingo with me!

    • Maya says:

You are the only person, in all these months, whom I believe because King Lear is coming to the Old Vic Theatre from Oct. to Dec. 2016. So everyone is really laughing at him in England. Wow!

I really must say as someone uninterested in Taylor (because I’m much older)her narrative of painting Kanye as having accosted her twice is grotesque. I had no idea about the nasty lyrics she’s written as well, like “an actress better known for what she does on the mattress” or “you tell my friends I’m crazy, and I’ll tell mine you’re gay”. At what point is Tom regarded as pathetic not for loving her, but for being ok with dating someone so shaddy? That is why I am flabbergasted. I thought he was a person who valued kindness; she is just the opposite.

      • Spiderpig says:

It’s actually not that one, but thanks.

I don’t know if the country is laughing at him. It’s such a gossipy industry, everyone gets it a little bit. There’s another actor who’s gossip target 1 right now but you probably wouldn’t have heard of him.

      • AlmostThere says:

“Tom [is] ok with dating someone so shady? That is why I am flabbergasted. I thought he was a person who valued kindness; she is just the opposite.”

        @Maya

As you say, you don’t know much about Taylor much less if and how much anything is true and in what context. And just as you didn’t know much about her, I don’t think Tom knew much more other than she’s the top famous popstar world wide. He’s probably heard some of her catchy songs like I have, because they get so much air play, but knowing actual lyrics aside from the chorus, is doubtful. Her songs are playful and fun to dance to. I personally have never made out the lines you posted, but I’m not a fan.

How would Tom keep up with her celebrity feuds or mean lyrics anyway? He is busy with his own career. Besides, it’s mostly believed that Hiddleswift is a PR relationship arranged by their publicists. Aside from all the tabloid gossip mills, from the outside she seems like a nice enough person. Maybe that’s all Tom sees and hears about her, is the basic public image that she and her team have put out. She’s probably polite and grown up around him, and he seems to rather give people the benefit of the doubt and avoid drama. Point is, these are Taylor’s dramas. Is it really fair to broadly extend culpability to everyone she’s associated with? Not to mention that if he’s seen as turning against her, he’ll be attacked by her many hoards of over-invested fans.

  17. pikawho? says:

Her bedroom looks like something out of PB Teen.

I am starting to think Tom Hiddleston has developed a thing for little girls.

    • Die Zicke says:

Hey, I’m not saying this to jump on you or anything, but I’m asking you as someone who was actually molested as a little girl, to please not use terms like that. Tom is dating someone younger than him, who is a little immature, but she is an adult woman, not a little girl. I was once sort of dating an older guy (it never got serious) and people would make snarky comments about me being a little girl, or jailbait (even though I was an adult) and those comments really did upset me.

I know your comment is in no way maliciously intended towards victims of sexual assault and was just meant to snark on TH, but I’ve just been reading a lot of comments like yours, and I’ve been trying to express to people that comments like that can be upsetting to people, even if they aren’t intended to be offensive.

      • pikawho? says:

I’m also a survivor and men who pursue younger women who infantilize themselves set off my “possible pedo, proceed with caution” alarm. So, sorry, but we’ll have to agree to disagree. ❤

    • spidey says:

@pilawho I’m starting to think we should be careful what we say.

      • pikawho? says:

The internet is a crazy place filled with people with differing opinions and takes on situations. I made no accusations, just expressed an opinion based on my personal history with a bit of snark. Its just a celeb gossip site at the end of the day. Peace ✌

      • spidey says:

        No accusations,…………right.

      • jammypants says:

@Pika, but personal history does not dictate the truth in every one else’s situation. I think it’s a bit dangerous to project personal bad experiences and feelings onto gossip because it turns from fun to something quite nasty. Jokes aside, they are two consenting adults. Pedophilia is just gross and should never be used as a joke ever. No offense meant, just my two cents.

      • spidey says:

        My point exactly.

    • Erinn says:

I don’t see it looking like a teen room. There’s so much neutral/gold shades. The furniture is kind of old fashioned in style … honestly, my 90s year old gram would probably like it from what I can see.

      • pikawho? says:

Its the hanging lamp and the tiered pedestal that make it so “teen” like. I had something similar to the pedestal from PB Teen when I was in high school. It rotated and had jewelry hangers.

      • Dippit says:

@Pikawho- just out of shot is the dartsboard with faces of her ‘enemies’ attached. She has enough known ones to cover many numbers, and, more than likely, other less obvious ones to complete a full round of Twenty and the Bullseye.

Wonder which poor soul is currently in the centre or at double-top.

      • pikawho? says:

I hope I’m included since I’m apparently such a horrible person! lmao

      • Dippit says:

@Pikawho – I suffered in childhood from an utterly reprehensible uncle and still carry some of that to this day; I experienced some very odd feeling of glee yesterday to hear he had been rushed to hospital very poorly, and to know that I had it in me to be a bit disappointed the ambulance had made it to him in time. This most particularly as two other lovely uncles’ of mine have died recently in quick succession. We all develop instincts, not always reflecting the best or most charitable of us – or even requiring of much rationale, based on our experiences.

Whilst I would tend to err on caution in such regard, I understood your interpretation and the tenor in which it was posted.

No dartsboard for you as far as I’m concerned.

      • Sixer says:

No dart board from me either. We’ve all got our crosses to bear that sometimes impact on the way we see things.

In this case, however, I doubt age is a factor for LEGS. Fame is the operative word here.

    • racer says:

There is nothing wrong with your comment. It doesn’t warrant attack, sensor, or justification from someone with a personal issue choosing to make a personal issue public on a public forum with strangers who owe them nothing.

      • pikawho? says:

How dare you be so reasonable on Celebitchy!

      • Original T.C. says:

        @Pikawho
You didn’t say anything that doesn’t appear often on CB when there is an older actor dating a younger woman. As a matter of fact, I made the observation so far that Hiddleston seems to be the other actor on CB who does NOT get criticism for dating a younger woman (who actually acts like a 12 year old) or accusations of not being able to handle a woman his own age.

Alicia Vikander a fully grown adult with maturity gets compared often to a little girl and her bf referred to as liking “little girls”. Then of course Mr. Superman gets ripped a new one on every.single.post for dating a young woman. Go down the list and you will see the comments. It’s just the Hiddleston fans being hypocritical because he is a special unicorn, apparently.

      • lilacflowers says:

@Original TC, actually, he DOES get criticism for being involved with a younger woman on almost every thread.

      • Dippit says:

@Lilacflowers, it reads to me that he gets far less criticism than many other of the usual suspects do for the difference in years (rings on their tree trunks) per se; most comments on that aspect focus moreso on the somewhat glaring discordant notes between a man considered evolved/Renaissance Man now, inexplicably, having formed an attatchment to a woman (well beyond the age of majority) but who has inclined, actively, to assert her image as that of one lacking the trappings/actualities of grown womanhood and maturity.

Age is but a number, I married a 39 year old when myself aged 21 – 24 years on and still married. However, when one in the equation (Taylor) screams in a state of stasis arrested development and the other is a 35 year old with a life under his belt… eyebrows raise ever more so than merely based on how many birthdays each have passed.

      • Dippit says:

I should add that the one aspect reversed from the typical manifestation of the usual older man with younger woman is that Taylor, due to significantly greater wealth and profile, is in the power position on that particular facet of the differential.

Nonetheless, she has/continues to trade on/off an immaturity of affect. Now either you argue it is merely a calculated affect to pander to her fan base and she has depths of maturity as yet unseen to which only Tom has been given insight, OR she really is, perhaps as a product of too much childhood wealth, fame, and acclaim, arrested in development as an individual.

If the former, the sparkly roll-out of ‘them’ (and her other behaviour) hasn’t indicated as much – and that would further reinforce her as manipulative of her image/fans.

If the latter, then we’re back to Tom having attached himself to a woman of somewhat childish mindset.

Either way – eyebrows raised still.

  18. browniecakes says:

Susannah Fielding will be in a CBS sitcom playing Stephen Fry’s daughter called The Great Indoors. Not sure where it is shooting. Please let it be LA. Near a really big $25M mansion filled with music awards, cat hair and newly acquired English antiques.

    • LondonGal says:

Susannah was a class act. Lovely girl, talented, smart and NOT Kardashian fighting, publicity- whoringly mental. I agree with Pikawho. Anyone who fancies Swift marks themselves as ‘dubious’ in my book.

    • Chelsea says:

Doubt Susanna cares about this swifty mess. Susanna has been dating another actor since 2012. She got with him shortly after she left that message about how she wasn’t married on FB which signalled she and Tom were over. I believe she started dating her current boyfriend like a month after she left that message on Facebook, it’s safe to say she never looked back.

    • pikawho? says:

I liked her episode of the badly titled Scrotal Recall on Channel 4 (I think its called Lovesick on US Netflix now?) Thank god she dodged this embarrassing bullet. It would be absolutely delicious if her Stephen Fry sitcom becomes a hit and gets her an Emmy next year.

      • Bonzo says:

I bet when she saw all the TIDDLES headlines, rolled her eyes and snort-giggled, thanking the gods that she got out when she did.

It would be funny if she won a major acting award over here before he does.

      • AlmostThere says:

I watched the preview of the show yesterday. Sorry, but I’ll be surprised if it makes it through it’s first season. It looks pretty bad.

      • AlmostThere says:

Actually, I’ll modify that. I won’t be surprised it it gets picked up cause it looks like very cheap production and writing and would not cost CBS much to keep as filler programming. And if for some reason it has the slightest success, it may get a second season. I most certainly will be passing. I think only fans of Joel McHale and old timers that know who Stephen Fry is would be interested in it, but doubtful it’ll keep them.

      • Bonzo says:

Truth be told. I haven’t watched a network comedy since Seinfeld went off the air; I prefer Netflix and European dramas. I’d watch this show for the subject matter initially. I know people in the outdoor recreation / publication industry and I across a lot of dirtbags where I live. There’s a lot of humor in that slice of Americana.

    • Bonzo says:

As a quasi-dirtbag living among bonafide dirtbags, I’m looking forward to watching that show. Susannah was great in the NT Live production of Beaux Stratagem. Watching her interviews online, she comes off as a smart, witty gal that I’d invite to Drinks with Broads, along with Helen Mirren, Judi Dench & Emma Thompson.

OMG the Monty Python gif at Dlisted – “tis but a scratch!” Dying.

      • Dippit says:

@Popup, that one had me creased this morn. I felt a bit guilty as I was in the process of getting ready for my uncle’s funeral when I came across it on Dlisted. But it is just so pithy and accurate to this god awful PR/’relationship’ strategy.

      • Bonzo says:

DL posters have been winning the internet these days with their scorn of TIDDLES. Jasper is one of my favs (“That’s right, Tom. You wear black to mourn your career and dignity. Mourn, b!tch! 27. browniecakes says:

Gossip Cop is like the gabby relative (George Clooney’s aunt) that wants to earn points for being honest and makes everyone look bad. Today they’re affirming that Taylor does not take legal action against her squad when they stray from message. Now it’s got me wondering if NDAs with the squad are a thing. Business people, boyfriends sure, but friends too?

    • Dippit says:

@Browniecakes I doubt very much that there is a single aspect of TayTay’s life which isn’t calculated, and such calculations safeguarded with sufficient documentation and/or the threat (implicit/explicit) of repercussions (legal or otherwise), should any individual in her life stray from complete compliance to TayTay’s image and will.

That cat probably had to ink its paw-print on an NDA and a contract allowing all images of it to be used at Taylor’s command when in need of a cute media moment to distract from its owner’s more reptilian tendencies.

As for Gossip Cop, the artful denier on publicists’ speed-dial – I’m at the stage where I read Gossip Cop and think the utter reverse to be more likely the truth of the matter. For me, now, a Gossip Cop denial is near tantamount to an admission the original story had some valid merit.

  28. Dippit says:

“For a new relationship, they act very serious” – I think “act” being the operative word in that little ‘source’ (Taylor) nugget.

    • browniecakes says:

Hiddleston’s non paying acting job. Wait till the union hears about this.

      • Dippit says:

Hehe, he’s made such a hash of the role you’d think he was only acting for scale – snake ones.

  29. saltandpepper says:

@Christin giggling at Olivia’s deployment, but she is gorgeously cute.

Good thing Hiddles is gone for a while, man virtually moved in with her shortly after meeting her. Less desperation from Tom or she’ll tire of his round-the-clock availability.

  30. Beach girl says:

Is that a disco ball looking light on a chain hanging from a heat vent?? Really? That’s the last think I would expect to see in house of someone worth a lot of $. I assumed she had a decorator.

    • Dara says:

I think her decorators get paid a crap-load of money to give Tay-Tay exactly what Tay-Tay’s teenage imagination can conjure up. They probably swallow their professional pride, cash her checks, and hope she never mentions them by name when someone asks who her decorator is.

    • oo1 says:

      her house her rules.

  31. Sure Jan says:

    People Magazine cracks me up.

I totally understand it now why people in the deep PR world call it “Kneepads” – you really, truly can get them to write whatever you want if you are the right person. Taylor Swift, meaning…..girl, you transparent af…..get better or get going.

  32. Dippit says:

I know he roped his family (niece included) into the PR stunting somewhere around day 3 of this crapfest of a performance, but his friends (both ‘civilian’ and acting) have been conspicuously absent from the 0 to 60 staging of a ‘romance’.

He’s looked ridiculous pallying up with her #squad (urgh), but I’m somewhat surprised there hasn’t been a staged event/dinner with his chums used as set dressing yet.

You just know that Taylor wants to be seen out with some of his more noteworthy friends in order to add gravitas and “look it’s serious, he lurves me” talking points to their media. She’s probably underlined (in colour coded glitter pens) bits in SparksNotes of plays or read the blurbs on book jackets in preparation.

Do we think his friends have all stopped taking calls requesting they play a bit part in TayTo’s scenes, OR does TayTay just need more time to swot up before she meets and greets his friends?

    • Matchday says:

Does he have “civilian friends”? Honest question. Over the last two months we’ve had more pics of him with his “girlfriend” than I’ve ever seen with his real friends. He’s taken his sister, girlfriend and PA to Wimbledon. Never any friends.

And I know people will trot out the usual names of actors he’s claimed are his friends (B Cumberwumber, C. Cox, C Hemmy) but those are people he’s worked with. Have we ever seen him with one of his school friends?

      • Dippit says:

TBH, I’m A Hiddleson amateur – I had never taken much note of him until TNM – so I don’t know. I was just presuming that he had friends, both civilian and through companionship developed through work. Perhaps he is not a friends person. Maybe he merely adapts to time/place/setting keeping company but then moves on without any real and lasting connections formed. I’ve known of many former public school educated men much like that.

Perhaps he has that/similar in common to Taylor, in that I don’t think she has friends as such (despite the #squad – urgh – see Hailee Steinfield on that very topic today), I think she collects people around her who serve her purposes at the time; and are disposable when they do not conform to her needs or wants.

Anywhichway, I’d still bet that Taylor has been pressing for a “having dinner with Tom’s ‘squad'” of more storied Brits as a convincer that they are real/compatible/sharing&caring in the life of the other.

That said, she has less/no pull to stage things on her terms in Tom’s milleu so perhaps she needs to keep him solely in her existence for fear of not being able to control the narrative/image(s).

    • popup says:

Who among his civilian pals would even comment? They never have in the past, have they?

Among his acting buds, the few who have been questioned have said pretty much uniformly nice things. One of their first papped meals was with Hank Williams’ granddaughter, whom I presume Tom knew from doing ISTL. Chris Hemsworth told a radio station that Tom seems happy and Taylor joined them on the Ghostbusters outing, and Idris has been gracious in the few interviews that he’s been asked about it. Pre Hiddleswift, Emma Watson hung out with Taylor at her London concert.

I get the sense that Tom hardly ever even sees his own friends. I suppose if Tay goes to Oz, there may be opportunities to sit in on dinners with the Thor3 crew.

    • browniecakes says:

And to be fair he’s been home like 10 days in 2016.

    • Lilacflowers says:

@Dippit, she hasn’t even been to his house, never mind met any of his friends in GB.

      • Dippit says:

It certainly seems part of the deal that he commit 100% to inhabiting her space (and I don’t just mean in physical location/presence) and that any “authentic” Tom which existed before is subsumed to ‘Taylor’s World’. I include the pap-walks with his family in this as they were so obviously staged to a familiar Swift script.

      • jammypants says:

@Dippit, someone on tumblr posted an image of Taylor in her car laughing with Calvin, then one with Taylor in her car laughing with Tom. She also pulled the visor on both men. To me, it’s the same playbook, different man. No doubt her next man will also have to play by her rules.

    • Luca76 says:

Didn’t he get invited to BC’s wedding? I think they are actually friends IRL.

      • lilacflowers says:

He did a reading at BC’s wedding.

He has said that his closest friends are outside the industry. In one of the recent UNICEF videos, he talks about a friend from the Dragon School and says they are still close. He has talked about missing a friend’s wedding because of War Horse and needing to repair the relationship and in the Muse of Fire videos, he talks about blowing an audition because he was out with friends celebrating something.

He has talked a couple times about some of his real long-time, good friends from school. He also told the story about when his best friend was really upset that he missed his wedding because of shooting War Horse. He said he was forgiven, and they’re still friends.
As far as I know there’s no pics of him with his school mates except for his RADA friends. There was a woman at RADA that was one of his friends that he used to invite to Wimbledon and some other events around 2009 – 11. She was not his girlfriend, in fact she was engaged, but the tabloids kept putting them in a romantic context and it became uncomfortable for her to always be dealing with the unwanted attention from being mistaken as his girlfriend. I can’t find the pictures and her name cause of all the Taylor and EO pics that flood the searches, but it’s not Rosenbough either. She attended a couple events with him too as friends but same story. Old tubmlr blogs probably still have those pics.

Sian? You mean her? I actually always wondered about her whereabouts…….

      • AlmostThere says:

        Yeah @ guest,

Sian Clifford, that’s her. I don’t know where she is eirher. Andrea Riseborough is the other RADA friend he would invite to events until his ott fans started bad mouthing all his female actress friends.

  33. Kate says:

Her cat pics/vids are to her what baby pics are to normal Bill and Katie Bucket.

    You’re not fooling anyone.

    • Matchday says:

      It’s old hat.

Image is in the crapper: release a pic of the cat.
Image is really in the crapper: release a video of the cat.

    • popup says:

Deflect deflect deflect! Coming up next a pap walk with her cat. I remember she did that once in NYC and everyone was aghast that she would walk OUTSIDE with a house cat, but judging by the thread upstream, that’s more of an urban American rule.

      • Matchday says:

The one where she was carrying the cat like it was a handbag? Did she think the cat had a designer label that she needed the paps to get a shot of?

      • popup says:

Ha, yes. Her cat is adorable. I’m all for more Taylor cat pics. Olivia and Meredith are now down-to-earth versions of Choupette and just as beautiful.

    • LinaLamont says:

I don’t care about anything other than that cat is the cutest damn thing in that vid.

      • Matchday says:

And you’ve fallen for it. Do you also think TayTo are our generation’s Romeo and Juliet?

  34. browniecakes says:

Has anyone seen her 73 questions with Vogue? Girl is all about the Grammys. Very conscious of her image.

    • browniecakes says:

And she says the reason why she has so many followers on Instagram is because of her adorable cats.

    • Grace says:

I have seen the video and I blame Tom for this. I too lol’d at the Instragram followers question. Of course she’d say that. I could just imagine it was a question she had been asked before, and she wanted to sound like she wasn’t the biggest try-hard. I got bored and stopped right after she answered Blank Space didn’t take very long to write.

      • Phoebe says:

I forced myself to keep watching the whole thing! You missed the part where the interviewer asks her what she would tell her 19 year old self and you can see this flip in her eyes, like one of her other personalities enters her body and she shouts “that you’re going to date like a normal 19 year but everyone will SLUT SHAME YOU FOR IT!!!!” Her complete and utter lack of self-awareness is staggering.

I also thought it was funny that the interviewer said he wanted a water and she just got him a glass of plain tap water, which he didn’t drink. It was just odd. The whole video was staged and awkward.

That should be the name of her memoir- “Staged and Awkward: The Calculated Life of a Slut Shamed Pop Princess”

    • MI6 says:

Better yet…has anyone seen her actually walking BACKWARDS on Insta via Lainey’s post today??
      I have no words.
      And I’m a writer

      • M.A.F. says:

I did! And I have no idea what to make of it.

      • bonzo says:

Maybe she didn’t have her lipstick on??

For someone who courts the publicity as much as Taylor does, it’s a pretty childish thing to do.

  35. Sue says:

I went back in time and read some of the first articles here about Tiddles (round May 20). 8 weeks officially ( I think it´s 12 unofficially, since May;-) ). I still don´t get this, I really don´t… 😛
And I´m mad at myself for listening to some of Tay´s song and not being able to watch TH´s pics/ vids anymore without questioning who he really is and why am I still following this chaos.

  36. browniecakes says:

Do you think Meredith went with Tom? Spycat.

  37. TotallyBiased says:

I’m sure the happy couple enjoyed their time together, but turns out Tom may have spent those extra days in LA working on a documentary about South Sudan, where he traveled for Unicef UK . Last year, IIRC.
