Sebastian Stan is playing a creepy villain in Ireland: attractive or not so much?

I’ve never really gotten the Sebastian Stan stans. Sebastian got a lot of love from a devoted fandom because of his role in the Marvel films (he played Bucky/The Winter Soldier), and I’ve seen women swear up and down that Sebastian is the hottest thing on two legs. While it’s fun that everyone has different tastes, I guess I just never even saw it, although here’s something I will give the Stan fans: he’s better in motion. In photos, I feel nothing, but there’s something compelling about him when you see him move. So, this is also for Stan’s stans: new photos of Sebastian filming in Enniskerry Village in Ireland this week. Stan is working on We Have Always Lived in the Castle, an adaptation of the 1962 story by Shirley Jackson. It’s period/horror. A summary:

One of the better known stories by Jackson, a 20th century horror writer best known for her novel The Haunting of Hill House, the plot centers on an isolated family, which has already lost four members to poisoning, that uses rituals and talismans to keep itself away from hostile townspeople. Into this scenario arrives a distant cousin, intent on maliciously securing the family’s fortune and whose arrival sets in motion the uncovering of family secrets. Stan will play the cousin, Charles Blackwood.

Sebastian Stan playing the creepy, malevolent villain? Shocking! He totally doesn’t look like that type! Ha. Anyway, I’m not actually getting creepy and malevolent from these photos. Stan looks like he’s playing a character named Jimmy Knuckles or Mack the Hammer, a two-bit gangster doing minor cons in a backwoods Irish village. He looks like he’s about to break out into a song from Guys & Dolls. Sebastian Stan: would you hit it?

The character is one of those arrogant douches who dresses like he’s worth way more money than he is. I’d suggest reading the book.

(Also, a big reason why Sebastian is so loved is that he’s very goofy/dorky and incredibly sweet and genuine. Half of what makes him attractive his his wonderful personality.)

I’ve been tryna find the hot there, especially since Evans decided to turn into a homewrecker. But alas, I cannot find the hot.

  3. Jegede says:

    It’s a no from me.

He used to be so cute.

First of all, I love Ireland. I want to retire there when I’m old.

And attractiveness is in the eye of the beholder, but lets not forget how much lower the standards are for men in the industry. Or the fact that just being an actor, with the money and fame that brings seems to add several points in an average looking man’s favor. I find him cute, but he is not the walking Adonis that Marvel fans insist he is. Most of the Marvel dudes are hella average with a few exceptions.

He’s got more charisma than Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth combined, imo.

I agree. I do not do the comic book based films and never having seen any of the previous Captain America films (so I have zero alliegiance to marvel and am not the fan) I got dragged to Civil War screening and have to say I was surprised by his performance. He is a capable actor whose acting skills actually brought something to otherwise special effects and fighting filled movie. Somehow he made a part of a pchyched brainwashed soldier interesing and human. I would even go as far and say that for me his role made even cap less one dimensional. And I find that kind of ability the most atractive in actors. I hope he gets cast in more complicated roles he obviously can pull it off. That outfit is a no though

I’m with you about photos vs. in motion. I also just love him as the winter soldier. So…. take that for what it’s worth.

  6. Fiorella says:

    He’s hot on gossip girl

  7. Lilacflowers says:

He has to wear the Bucky costume.

  8. KB says:

He doesn’t look great in these photos. He’s like Rami Malek to me, a little odd looking but great in motion and once you watch them you’re immediately attracted to them. Well, I am at least! They have that quality that makes them really sexy, even if you don’t see it immediately.

    • Delta Juliet says:

Rami Malek fascinates me. Once I saw him in The Pacific, I just couldn’t take my eyes off him. A bit odd looking but a commanding appearance.

  9. Miss M says:

    …Like a hurricane…

    Love his instagram!

  10. Ainsley says:

    All day every day

One of my favorite Celebitchy quotes: LIKE A SCREEN DOOR IN A HURRICANE!

  12. Starkiller says:

I’ve never been able to understand why anyone finds this guy hot. He looks haggard, and he can’t act. I see much hotter guys on public transportation every day. Is it one of those things where they like his accent?

  13. Izzy says:

Sebastian Stan was actually great in The Martian. Well, the whole cast was – it was a great ensemble cast. But Stan in particular looked HAWT in that movie. And the man knows how to wear a suit – see: red carpet appearances.

I’d hit it like a home run.

  14. Annika says:

    He is the sex 😋

  15. Mandy says:

I’m so excited for this movie! My book club read this about a year ago. I think a lot of readers would enjoy it’s utter strangeness.

He is good in motion, I think he’s cute in movies.

  16. Irene says:

In a heartbeat. And while I find him very physically attractive, it’s really his personality that seals the deal for me. He’s a complete and utter dork, and very sweet to his fans.

  17. Abbess Tansy says:

I would hit it every day and twice on Sunday.

  18. McKenzie says:

Love him! Didn’t know anything about him until I saw the Winter Soldier and came out thinking he was a fantastic actor.

  19. Ferdinand says:

Did you ever see him hit on Sharon Stone during his last appearance in the James Corden show? Wow, just wow!

  20. Wood Dragon says:

Stan…and in a Shirley Jackson tale no less. I’m a huge fan of the 1962 The Haunting, so I will be looking forward to this tale too.
