I hate to be the bearer of bad news, my friends, but the courtship between former Disney kids, Bella Thorne and Gregg Sulkin has run its course. After more than a year of loved up Instagram posts and over the top make-out videos, the couple has called it quits. Grab the ice-cream and the tissues as another one bites the dust.
Summer lovin’ is over for Bella Thorne and Gregg Sulkin.
After a PDA-filled year together, the couple are going their separate ways, reps for the stars confirm exclusively to PEOPLE.
“After much thought and soul-searching, we have made the difficult decision to end our relationship. We will always love each other and have a deep respect for one another, as we have each grown to be better people because of our time together. Our schedules made seeing each other difficult, and we decided that for now this would be best,” the couple tells PEOPLE in a joint statement.
Last summer, Sulkin, 24, and Thorne, 18, attended the Teen Choice Awards together and shared a sweet kiss on the red carpet.
“They have known each other for years and spend a lot of time together,” a source close to the couple told PEOPLE when the pair first started dating. “They treat each other with a great deal of respect and are really enjoying each other’s company.”
I love their statement. “After much thought and soul-searching, we have made the difficult decision to end our relationship.” I totally believe this because Bella is 18. When I was 18, I searched my soul for everything. I couldn’t order lunch without driving to the desert with my thought journal. I have worked really hard to live a drama-free adult life but sometimes I miss all that passion.
Anyway, I kind of missed the boat on Bella and Gregg, especially Gregg as I had no idea who he was until I saw he played Alex’s werewolf boyfriend on Wizards of Waverly Place. My kids used to watch that so I do know him! Ah well, too bad, then – they both seem like nice folks. At least they are keeping things amicable… for now.

Completely superficial note: I think Bella is beautiful; she looks like a porcelain doll to me. I really admire that she is a YA author in addition to steadily working as an actor. And I love that she bounces from wacky comedies/rom coms to grisly horror movies – talk about a manic existence. It looks like she has a new TV show coming out next year, Famous in Love. But what really caught my eye is that she is going to be in The Death and Life of John F. Donovan – that movie has a great cast. Maybe Bella has hit the big time as an actress?

LMAO, I remember those days, too! Both my teens are pretty drama free but my one son started hanging out with a couple friends who were just like this…it overwhelmed him a bit until he realized he could be free with his innermost feelings with them and not be teased. It was sweet to behold.
Anyway, she is lovely but he might be even prettier. An overload of beauty between the two of them!

I loved the part where they say they both grew into better people during their relationship. Very mature and also very real for that first true love relationship.
I really like them both in a very distant they’re cute kind of way. He seems like a nice fella, and she seems like a relatively drama free young actress.

I also thought that, with plastic surgery, you, too, can strive to be beautiful like a china doll. She’s pretty (and she was always cute), but these are not her nose/lips/etc…
She is friends with the Jenners and has been trying to follow their model to stardom she is famous for surgically altering her face and posting hypersexualized photos while underage.
The porcelain doll face is lovely but it’s her 4th face. She was just in the news for adding new fake eyebrows she is all about changing her old natural look. Her older sister had the Brazilian butt surgery all the kardashians had and is also trying to cash in on being Instagram famous.
The YA novel bit is a cash grab like the jenners did one and kardashians are always releasing books trying to have multiple money making projects going at once. If you listen to any interview with her you can see she doesn’t have the vocabulary or capacity for this, she is no Rowan Blanchard.
She does have good management and PR that she pays top dollar for.
My guess is she broke up with her bf because he wasn’t able to take her to the next level of fame.

They’ve been together for over a year and she’s 18 now and he’s 24? I don’t know exactly where the line is for too old to be dating a 17 year old, but 23 might be on the wrong side of that line.
I was thinking that. If they were 30 and 36, sure. But a 6 year age gap is quite a lot at 17, not to mention under the age of consent afaik.

It’s not just you. Partly because of the whole “everybody loves ethnic features on non-ethnic people” trope, and partly because the “baddie” look, (aka whitewashed ghetto/urban fashion) is big now. From what I can tell on insta, they all seem to more or less follow what Kylie does, Kylie follows other people, and the whole depressing cycle continues.
All I think about when I see her is a blind item I read about her being extremely rude in a hair salon. . Also pretty sure there was another recent blind about Gregg being gay and Bella setting her sights on a more famous suitor for a PR relationship.
