Call me crazy, but I never really think of Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake as very political people. They seem so middle-of-the-road, and before today, if you asked me to imagine who they vote for, I would have said, “Um… I bet they ‘forget’ to vote every election year.” But as it turns out, both Justin and Jessica were Obama supporters, and now they are both #WithHer. They’re Hillary Clinton supporters. Not only are they down with the HRC, they’re going to be last-minute fill-in hosts for a fancy Clinton fundraiser. They’re taking over hosting duties from Leonardo DiCaprio!
Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel will fill in for Leonardo DiCaprio as hosts of a fundraiser for Hillary Clinton on Tuesday. A source familiar with the plans said that Timberlake and Biel now will host the event at their home, after DiCaprio was unable to return to Los Angeles before Wednesday because he has to complete a project in time for it to premiere at the Toronto Film Festival on Sept. 9, the source said. DiCaprio asked Biel and Timberlake to host the event after he couldn’t make it.
DiCaprio is producing a climate change documentary, “Before the Flood,” with Brett Ratner, Fisher Stevens and Rick Yorn. The documentary is an account of how society can prevent the demise of endangered species, ecosystems and native communities across the globe. Those featured in the doc include President Obama, Former President Bill Clinton, Secretary of State John Kerry, United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and Pope Francis, along with a host of scientists and conservationists.
The lunchtime fundraiser, with tickets at $33,400 per person, is one of a series of events Clinton is attending in a swing through Southern California.
I bet the tickets will sell/have sold really well. Why I don’t care about much of anything involving Leo D, JT or Biel, I would love to see their homes. If I was a rich Hollywood type, I would want to see Leo’s lunchtime spread, and now I would want to see JT and Biel’s home too. I bet the food will be better at Biel and Timberlake’s fundraiser. Not that it’s about the food (but it is about the food). I bet Timberlake wants fried chicken! I hope he gets his wish.
By the way, are you buying the idea that Leo just couldn’t get away to host and support Hillary? I wonder if DiCaprio’s sudden cancelation has anything to do with the Department of Justice taking a closer look at the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation and it’s shady-ass investors? THR did a lengthy, exclusive story about how the LDF has gotten caught up in a massive embezzlement probe by the DOJ. That’s probably not a great look for Hillary Clinton.

The embezzlement probe is exactly why the change was made. This is going to get messy messy messy for DiCaprio. Very smart for Hillary to stay well clear of it!
I didn’t know about the embezzlement probe but that seems like a likely reason to back out.
For some reason I don’t imagine most of these fundraiser lunches to be held in private homes. Meet and greets, maybe, but I’d guess an actual meal would be at be held at a restaurant, with the featured celeb(s) still acting as host. There was a Hilary event in my town. Small donors like me were invited to a speech in a local theater and then the big donors (min $25,000, I think) closed down a restaurant and ate lunch with her there.
I know here in Miami, for the majority of big time $$$ donor fundraisers (especially during a Presidential race) it is almost always held at a very high profile per$on’$ home.
That seems to be the case for this as well. I read the initial invite had this at DiCaprio’s actual home and now he asked Timberlake and Biel to take over and host at their home. Good for them for stepping in.
I wonder why it didn’t just move to one of the co-hosts’ house though. There are really high profile co-hosts like Shonda Rhimes, Jennifer Aniston, Tobey Maguire, and Scooter Braun listed on the invite.
Yeah, now that you mention it, I have heard of dinners in private homes. I guess I imagined a celeb would want more privacy but maybe not. It’s not like the riffraff will be tromping through their houses, at those ticket prices. And yeah I agree that it’s weird that one of the co-hosts didn’t step up. Maybe Leo has an agenda…

I had no idea Biel and Timberlake even cared about politics. I like them a bit better.
Same. I have always been neutral about this two but I applaud them for stepping up at the last minute as the lead hosts of a big political fundraiser (of course I would not be applauding if it wasn’t my party, but it is! :)). I know they’re getting good press out of it too but the fact that they had to agree to it so quickly makes me think they’re less diva-ish, and more “doers,” than I had thought.

Events like these are held all over the country, and the only difference with CA is that it’s famous people so perhaps considered more noteworthy. But big ticket fundraisers happen in every state, and for candidates in both parties.
I just assumed they were quiet republicans. Huh.
I am not surprised in the least. Hollywood for Hillary. What I am surprised by is that Justin and Jessica have any political leanings at all. Leo must be going them a favor down the road. I vote for fried chicken, potato salad, and all of the fixings.
It’s all over the news that DiCaprio asked Timberlake to host it instead. Whatever the reasons are, strange story. Would like to know why Leo opted out.
I’m sure Fox is looking into it as we speak and will be screaming about it from the roof tops once they find out.
That article is certainly an eyeopener into all these foundations, and even charities. Per the article, Leo’s foundation is “Set up not as a nonprofit but instead as a donor-advised fund (DAF) attached to the California Community Foundation, which is a nonprofit, the LDF therefore is not required to file itemized public disclosures about its own revenue, expenditures and disbursements.” This looks shady as hell. Why doesn’t he want to publicly disclos4 how he spends and obtains money for his foundation? Apparently they point out there’s been a 26% (?) increase in these type of foundations. Wow, I wonder why. Leo gets into bed with a lot of sleazy types.
People wonder why DiCaprio’s personal life could be an issue – it’s because he hangs with sleazy folks. None of this stuff shocks me, considering the company he keeps.
Why not just host it at Biel’s “restaurant” Au Fudge? It’s not like anyone eats there anyways–they could have the whole place to themselves.
