Sweden’s Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia welcomed their first child back in April of this year. The baby came well within a year after they married in the summer of 2015. Unlike other recent royal brides, Sofia did seem to want to get pregnant pretty quickly, and everyone seemed really happy when she welcomed son Alexander Erik Bertil Hubertus. But here’s something I didn’t realize: little Prince Alex hasn’t been baptized yet! His baptism will go down next month, and ahead of the major event, Carl Philip and Sofia released two photos of the now four-month old baby.
Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia have announced the christening date of their son Prince Alexander – via a brace of very cute photographs. The Swedish couple posed for the snaps with four-month-old Alexander ahead of his baptism, which will take place at Drottningholm Palace Church in Stockholm next month.
The September ceremony, which will be aired on Swedish national television, will be officiated by Archbishop Antje Jackelén and take place at the Swedish capital’s historic Drottningholm Palace. It’s thought that the Crown Prince, born on April 19th, will follow tradition and wear a family gown that dates back to 1906, when his ancestor Prince Gustaf Adolf wore it. Fifth-in-line to the throne, Alexander – full name Alexander Erik Hubertus Bertil – will be baptised using spring water from the island of Öland and have to cover his ears for the traditional 21-gun salute by the armed forces.
The Daily Mail gets it wrong though – Prince Alexander isn’t the “Crown Prince” of anything. Alex’s aunt is the Crown Princess Victoria, and her daughter Princess Estelle (Alex’s first cousin) will be “Crown Princess” when Victoria is on the throne, meaning she is first in line. Alexander is simply Prince Alexander, not Crown Prince Alexander. Right? In any case, these photos are lovely. I’m also including a few pics of Sofia and Carl Philip from July! In that top photo, Carl looks really good. Not like that hot prince, young attractive that he’s always had. But mature, distinguished hotness, which I find to be more appealing. Congrats on the new addition! They look like a really cute couple and happy family. The Swedes look like the best royal family. So happy and relaxed all the time. What else should I have expected from Sweden?! 🙂

Newborns will do that to you. I have a 3 year old newborn who wipes me out completely.

Such a gorgeous family!! Sofia looks so fresh faced and beautiful, like Noxema ad. If she wears any makeup, she does a good job at making herself look like a beautifully bare faced woman. Happy for them all!

Love the Swedish royal family! They just do it right. Always so classy. Despite all the shade when they got engaged/married, Princess Sofia has really done well with her new position and does her country proud. Can’t say the same about the English royals!

Such a cute little round baby! C-P’s looks only seem to improve year by year. Considering that, and the fact that he is a true prince after all, it does make me wonder how Sofia copes with all that? She is very pretty and comes across as a genuinely nice person, but having a husband like that (!) would probably wear anyone down…
I’m feeling particularly vicious today because I saw that cute baby and immediately thought with every grandson born it must just chap Karl Gustav’s sexist pasty white a$$ a little more that Sweden altered the rules of succession.
