Kaley Cuoco shows off diamond ring on Instagram: is she engaged? (update)

Update by Celebitchy: Cuoco has updated the caption on the Instagram photo to clarify that it’s her character Penny’s ring. She waited to do this though, suggesting that she wanted to get people talking. She wrote “ps everyone needs to calm down, that’s Penny’s wedding ring, not mine!” Mmmhmm.

Could Kaley Cuoco, known for her questionable decisions about tattoos, hair and, most notably relationships, be engaged again? The 30-year-old actress/hopeless romantic (?), currently working on the 10th season of The Big Bang Theory (ugh), posted a photo to her Instagram that has folks wondering if she and her equestrian boyfriend Karl Cook will soon be walking down the aisle. Kaley and Karl have been together for six months now and she got engaged to her last husband after three months and married him after six so it’s not out of the question.

In the snap from the BBT set, Kaley has an admittedly cute baby sitting on her lap (he’s the son of her friend, General Hospital actress Ashley Jones) but it’s what’s on her left hand that is attracting a bit of attention. It kinda looks like it could be an engagement ring. Hmmm…

A little internet sleuthing has uncovered that the ring is markedly different than the ring her Big Bang character Penny wears. Unless her TV beau Johnny Galecki’s character gave her ring an upgrade over the summer hiatus, Kaley might be well on her way to being Mrs. Cook.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the couple were engaged. They fell for each other pretty quickly and have been all over Kaley’s Instagram page, like in this recent photo of Kaley giving Karl a smooch, with the caption “I miss this face already.”

If the tabloids are to be believed, Kaley pushed for Karl to put a ring on it a mere two months into their courtship and she may already be shacking up with him. Not to play “devils advocate” or anything, but they do share a passion for animals and always look like they are really having a good time together, like they did on a recent lunch outing in Los Angeles.

That being said, my sensible, non-romantic side is screaming, “Girl…NO!” I can’t talk, as I’ve been through two relationships in the past two years, but I never even thought about getting engaged with either one. I do love being in love, so I actually can kind of relate, but she’s young, she’s got lots of time to find the right guy. Slow down, Kaley. You’ll have plenty of time for love and marriage once Big Bang Theory ends its run – which has to be soon, right?

Didn’t she get married after 3 months last time? Girl is in love with love. We all know someone like this

  2. Green Is Good says:

“So needy.” A direct quote from BBT directed at Penny. Hmmm….

  3. paolanqar says:

I know many of you hate The Big Bang Theory but I love it and i never get tired of watching it.
I cannot wait to find out what’s Penny’s last name and to see her reunited with her ‘8 simple rules..’ mother Katey Sagal.

    Not long now 🙂

    • Alix says:

I love it, too. But we’ll never find out Penny’s maiden name — the producers have said as much.

Why is this young woman so obsessed with getting married???

      • paolanqar says:

I have no idea! I always hope she will go back to Johnny… but that will never happen.

What did the producers say?? no name?? ever??

    • Heat says:

      I love the show, too.

      • Aussieboy says:

Such a baaaaaad show. it’s Depressing what passes for television these days. I’ll make my point. Ahem….so the cast did just as the cast of Friends did and lobbied to secure $1M p/episode each. Cool….Now think back to the phenom that “FRIENDS” was. Jen Anniston was (and still is) a household name. Kaley or Kyley or whatever on the other hand…..let me just say this……1) Do you think that any of the cast members here will be dating Brad Pitt and 2) Can you name the actors in the same way you could the cast of “Friends”. Didn’t think so,,,,,,Smugly, Aussieboy

      • paolanqar says:

I actually can name all of them. And there is no need to date Brad Pitt to be on a popular sitcom.
Jim Parsons is one heck of an actor and his character is widely loved and recognized all over the world. As well as Leonard, Penny, Howard and Raj.

TBBT has become a phenomenon all over the world and it has increased popularity with regard to the ‘nerd world’ such as super heroes books, films, comicon and science in general.

  4. Heat says:

Why marriage? Why? I cannot understand these serial marriers. I have a sister-in-law that does the same thing.
Is it the wedding they want? Do they think there is more security in a piece of paper? What is wrong with simply being with someone you love and trust? If it’s the sanctity of the union that’s important, I think the ship sailed with the multiple divorces, no?

  5. Green Is Good says:

Fan of the show here, too. I don’t the hate for BBT. Because it’s popular? Mainstream?

    • paolanqar says:

People say it’s not funny and dumb.
I, on the other side, think it’s very witty and with an intelligent sense of humour. But hey.. to each their own..

      • yolo112 says:

I like the show and also think it’s funny. I never understood the hate either. It’s just a typical, successful, basic long running show. It’s comparable to ‘Friends’…but about nerds..lol

      • paolanqar says:

        Hi Yolo,

well on the Friends reference I have to disagree with you.. Friends has been consistent for the whole 10 seasons while TBBT has slipped here and ther ebecoming a bit predictable and somehow boring. the development of some of the characters is sometimes disappointing in the last 2 seasons but i still hope it will be good in season 10.
I still love it and I love Sheldon. Sheldon is my guru.

      • Fanny says:

I disagree that Friends was consistent for 10 years; I think after season 4 the quality plunged, but it was still watchable because the characters were likable.

I’ve lost interest in BBT but I give it credit for staying good, if not improving, in the middle/later seasons. Season 4 & 5 were really good and that’s unusual for a sitcom.

    • Kitten says:

I just find it completely unfunny and lame.
Humor’s a really subjective thing, you know?
      *shrugs*
As paolanqar said, to each their own.

    • Eden75 says:

I find it funny, but then again, I feel like Penny in my house, surrounded by people that are way nerdier and smarter than I. I live in the IT world, so the jokes on BBT are similar to what I hear day in and day out. I even nicknamed the hubby Leonard because he’s so adorable (ok, better looking for sure) and kinda oblivious to certain things. I also have a Sheldon that comes to my house often. No Wolowitz yet, but I have no doubt one will show up.

Kitten is correct though, to each their own. I dislike Breaking Bad intensely, much to everyone’s dismay. I find BBT funny because I swear that some of those convo’s have happened in my living room on XBox nights…

  6. Jayna says:

Well, he does have his own career, and his father is a billionaire, I think I read. So he’s a better bet than this last one. But I don’t believe they are engaged.

  7. Merchant Smearer says:

Idiot. If only she treated women who aren’t in the position she’s in’t way she treats animals.

    • kellybean says:

Seriously? If she cares about animals more than people so be it. People are horrible and animals are not. I would rather be with my dog and cats than most people I know.

      • Merchant Smearer says:

No, she’s an idiot because she’s an idiot. The comment was not directed at you, so I’m not sure why you’re taking it so personally. I, on the other hand, have every reason in the world to dislike this woman.

      • Kitten says:

I dislike her too but I completely agree with kellybean.
Actually, Kaley’s love of animals is the only appealing about her from my perspective.

    • LizLemonGotMarried says:

      I take it there’s a story here…Care to share?

    • paolanqar says:

Every reason in the world to dislike this woman? Do you know her personally? It sounds like it. You made me curious now

    • Tiffany :) says:

From what I have heard she treats other women very well. Generally very kind and sweet person. What are you talking about?

  8. OSTONE says:

Trying to get over Superman and the romantic Starbucks runs. Kaley is like JLO when it comes to love, just the C list version.

  9. Runcmc says:

While she is moving WAY TOO FAST with this guy (like she did with the last) and needs to slow way the heck down… I dunno that 30 is “so young” and “plenty of time” (especially if she wants to naturally conceive kids). It’s not like she’s 22. Yeah she probably has a good 5-6 years to really start worrying about fertility but medical reality is what it is. She has the money to do ivf/whatever to have a baby but…if she wants to naturally have a kid, wanting to settle down with someone around 30 isn’t crazy or too young!

But also its only been 6 months calm down Kaley.

  10. minx says:

I mean, maybe this guy is it for her. But she was so swoony over the last one in five minutes–and anyone could tell it wouldn’t last. He seemed like such a dud.

  11. Aly says:

I don’t think it’s an engagement ring. It looks more like a simple band and it’s the pattern of her shirt that gives the illusion of a “rock”…I think

    • Fran says:

At first I didn’t think that was true…but looking back at it closely, I agree with you. It’s an optical illusion. Although I definitely wouldn’t be surprised if she was also engaged, with her history.

  12. ell says:

    she’s so extra.

  13. Mcbeanerer says:

She edited the caption soon after posting that said its penny’s ring, not hers.

  14. Katie says:

    Again?

  15. Dani says:

Someone hand her some water, she looks dehydrated. Girl noooooooooooooo. Stop it.

  16. The New Classic says:

I don’t think that she posted this out of any need for attention. It looks like she’s on set, she’s holding a cute baby, and you can BARELY see the ring with the way her hand is positioned. If the pose were super obvious with the ring in full view then I’d understand the fuss. I know she’s not had the best romantic track record, but seriously, does that warrant always having this woman on ring watch?

    • Tiffany :) says:

I agree, I don’t think this was a move for attention. It wasn’t like it was the focus of the photo.

  17. Chicken says:

Now all,I’m going to hear in my head all day is, “Not Penn-eh’s ring!”

    • Starkiller says:

God, I miss Lost. One of only a handful of shows produced by American television in the last decade to require that the viewer have an IQ higher than their shoe size.

  18. Tara says:

I love The Big Bang Theory. I will admit Cuoco is not a particularly talented comedienne. I think she views herself as the Aniston of today, but Aniston was and is actually a very talented comedienne. And anyone who saw the last season of Charmed knows that Cuoco is not a good actress. She’s serviceable on TBBT though. She’s fine.

And I think too that really, no one on the show is particularly great. I mean, I personally find Galecki to be meh. He’s the straight man, so I guess there’s not much to work with, but still. The guys who play Howard and Raj…I don’t know. Jim Parsons IMO is talented, yes. But otherwise, I think Cuoco gets a lot of flack for being so meh, and she is, but she’s not alone in that cast! Still, somehow it all comes together and it makes me laugh. I love Sheldon what can I say.

  19. NotSoSocialButterfly says:

I can believe she’s doing it again. Isn’t that a “shared heart/best friend type or mizpah necklace in the first shot? Zooming on that ring shows a break in the prong set band where the head (prong mount) for the center stone attaches to the band. It’s not the shirt pattern.

  20. JenniferJustice says:

    Professional actress becomes professional fiance/marrier.

  21. Penelope says:

I like the show and I’ve always liked her as well. Hope she finds true happiness with him! They certainly seem to have a lot in common, so that’s a good start.

  22. Joanie says:

I do not understand this woman’s appeal, at all.

  23. serena says:

That’s funny, Cuoco (which means cook in italian) and Cook.. lol

  24. West Coast Betty says:

Toes in!! Geeze, let’s practice good equitation here.
