I saw Southside and enjoyed it very much. I am going to cry buckets in a few months.

  2. jeanpierre says:

    Love hold up.

“Rita Ora performed at Mother Theresa’s canonization.”

    What in the world…

    • Payapa says:

I assume the reason being they are/were both Albanians.

      • paolanqar says:

They are both from Kosovo not Albania. Kosovo only recently has become independent and everybody who was born in Kosovo until then was branded Albanian but Kosovan people have a very strong sense of belonging to their country.

      • Elisa the I. says:

they both have Albanian roots ( Rita Ora was born in Pristina, Kosovo / Mother Theresa in Skopje, Macedonia)
her voice is amazing! I really enjoyed her performance. She needs a new manager though, her talent is drowned in all that messy stuff.

      • kate says:

Macedonia is not Skopje, it is Greece. For thousands of years it has been Greece, they stole the name and the un allowed it. Shame on them.

    • paolanqar says:

I cannot think of anybody less appropriate to celebrate Mother Teresa’s canonization?

I am surprised Rita didn’t burst into flames as soon as she entered the church!
Also, wtf was she wearing? She looked like she was dressed for a widow-meets-dancing-with-the-stars-Evita-themed-party.

  4. Drew says:

Rita Ora sounded great. I didn’t realize how beautiful her voice was before. Wow.

  5. Nina says:

I don’t care what anyone says about Beyonce’s “dragon dress” from the VMAs. I think she looked terrific, and I love that icy shade of turquoise!

  6. Veronica says:

My favorite line from “Hold Up” is the one about her conflict over how she should react emotionally to the revelation of an affair (“what’s worse – looking jealous or crazy?”). I feel like that’s such a great line about the Catch-22 of emotion when you’re a woman. Even if your grievance is legitimate (and certainly jealousy or outrage are entirely legitimate answers to betrayal) you are degraded by the very existence of stronger emotion. I can think of a lot of breakups when I had to eat it because I was the one whose heart was being broken and being told that my grief was “too much.”

    • Kate says:

You speak the absolute truth Veronica. I love watching Bey take the bat to things. Love it. Keep swinging girl!

      • Neverwintersand says:

Very true. i’m not a big fan of Bey, but this album seems to speak to women on a universal level, which is cool. I also like the more folksy (less pop) tone to it, and her singing lower than usually.

  7. QQ says:

*plays lemonade again. LOUDLY. So as to not get into the whole Mother Teresa as a saint morass*

  8. Zuzus Girl says:

That Lauren Holiday story is heart wrenching. I wish her the best.

  9. Juls says:

I just discovered my husband of 14 years has been cheating on me. Thank you Bey, for so eloquently describing this painful journey.

    • Zapp Brannigan says:

Juls I am so sorry, I was in the same boat earlier this year after 16 years with someone, my random advice right now, counseling for you, try to eat right and get some good quality sleep if you can and get a support network in action. Sending hugs and good vibes your way.

    • Mindy_dopple says:

I am so sorry for your pain. Please purchase Lemonade as soon as you can, watch it all. It’s very cathartic, I also recommend Jill Scott’s Woman album. Feel it, don’t let it define you.

    • cherrypie says:

SO sorry to hear that Juls. I hope the pain will heal in time and its good that Lemonade can help you through this period.

  10. Juls says:

Thank you all for your kind words and support. He denied it, but I searched my soul and know its true. A woman knows. There is just enough proof for me to know he is lying. We have 2 kids under 10, so I have to make my focus be on them and their well-being. Thanks for listening to my troubles.

    • nicegirl says:

Best wishes to you, Juls. Be kind to yourself, also. You deserve it.

    • Colette says:

You have to focus on yourself, your well being first.
Put on your own oxygen mask first before assisting others(your children) .You can’t serve from an empty vessel.Be Strong

    • Kate says:

Stay strong Juls and remember it isn’t about you. It’s about him and his issues. My husband of 22 years left me last year for another woman who has kids in my oldest daughter’s class at school. They are getting married in a month. It sucks. It sucks so much, but time makes things better. Sometimes it doesn’t seem like it but it does. Be patient and remember to see the joy when you can. It is there, whether it is doing something with your kids, seeing a funny movie or just talking a walk on a beautiful day. Don’t ignore it. Embrace it.

      • Veronica says:

HER KIDS ARE IN THE SAME CLASS???? JFC, what a pair of cockwaffles. Literally the definition of shitting where you eat.

      • Kate says:

Most definitely. And thank you for the word cockwaffle. I’ve not heard it before but I will be using it. Outstanding stuff.

(ride it out, try not to FREAK out, and know that your feelings will change & change & continue to change for a long-long time… stay or go … you can do either and it will all be ok … in time)
(try not to act in haste – keep your head – think of the long-game – chess, not checkers)

  12. shananay says:

I just don’t get how she stole the concept for this video from another artist and is considered a “genius” for doing so.

    • K.T says:

Go pipilotti Rist! Beyonce’s video homage (the generous assessment, others say it’s inspiration without attribution, lol). Rist is a great joyful, ambiguous video artist and ‘Ever Was Over All’ is a good work.

Wish QueenB would just attribute her influences so that when she references/borrows ideas of historical and contemporary filmmakers, choreographers & visual artists, they can get some the dues too!
