Here are some photos from Monday night’s London premiere of Bridget Jones’s Baby. This is being seen by many as Renee Zellweger’s big comeback role following a multi-year hiatus (of sorts). People are still talking about whether she looks different and/or whether she’s had work done, and at this point, I just feel like everyone should just judge for themselves.
Renee brought some vintage-feeling glamour for the most part to the premiere. This gown isn’t vintage, it just has a vintage feel – it’s by Schiaparelli, a designer she has worn before for some big occasions. I like the dress and the giant zebra brooch, but I feel like the placement of the brooch was… odd. Granted, it’s too big to put on your chest… maybe. But to basically have a zebra brooch on your crotch seems like a weird fashion statement.
More photos from the premiere… here’s Emma Thompson looking incredibly comfortable. At first I thought she was just wearing high-fashion sweats, but no. Emma also got a snog off of Patrick Dempsey at the premiere AND she said he’s a better kisser than Colin Firth. SCANDAL. LIES!!!
And here’s Patrick Dempsey with his family and his on-again wife Jillian. I’ve lost count how many times Patrick and Jillian have broken up and gotten back together. His kids are older than I thought they would be! The boys look just like him.

I used to be madly in love with Patrick Dempsey, all the way back from Can’t Buy Me Love, but something about him seems a bit smarmy now.
Dempsey has a whiny voice! Whiny voice always spoils everything. Love Colin Firth! I’m glad Rene is back. She looks great.

Bridget Jones 3 looks like a stupid movie. The pitch is plain silly.
I don’t like one-sleeve outfits. It’s outdated like Buffalo shoes.
I wasn’t sure about the movie, but it has a 100% score of Rotten Tomatoes so far.
A bunch of us are going. The reviews have been good. I’m going to support Renee and Colin.
Why do people always go by Rotten tomatoes as the gospel like if it get a movie good score there are then it’s a good movie and vice versa.
@Flowerchild …because it’s an aggregation of reviews from professional film reviewers so it usually gives a pretty good indication of the quality of the film…?
As much as I like Colin Firth, I have zero interest in this ‘last gasp’ of the franchise..the trailers..which are supposed to tease you with the best stuff..are pretty bad.
For me, the first one is pretty much the perfect rom-com. I just don’t want to see any of the others. It was happily ever after as far as I’m concerned.
To me the strenght of Bridget Jones persona was That she was highly relatable. But what’s relatable in a 40+ woman who doesn’t know who fathered her baby? I mean seriously. This Is a stupid plot.
Jeanpierre, it is perfectly relatable as a plot line. Many women have that experience. Geez
The alternative was to go with the plot from the third book in which Darcy is DEAD, Bridget left with two young kids and is a cougar who is somehow still a clumsy mess. The movie may sound silly but the book was so heartwrenching, I couldnt finish it.
Apparently Jones is also dealing with being a mature woman in the office and the implications.
the trailer made it look ludicrous rather than funny. I didn’t see the second one, either. has there ever been a time when the third and utterly unrequested installment of a movie franchise has been a blockbuster?
Renee looks gorgeous. She rocked the red carpet with great style. There were a lot of photos of her walking, and her legs are to die for.

Love RZ’s dress–the color, cut and sheen are lovely. She’s having fun with the zebra brooch. Works for me. I’d like to know what her gym routine is because my goodness, she looks phenomenal.
Agreed on all counts. She’s a runner, would like to know what else she does though, figure is amazing.

I thought she looked less different too! Her eyes don’t have that startled look anymore… she’s kind of squinty again. Maybe the work has settled? Or maybe it’s just her eye makeup, I’m not sure.

I think it was just Botox and it wore off.
Surgical intervention would have required slicing the skin off her lids, thats impossible to reverse. It was probably just injectibles.
I was wondering the same thing! I love her new/old look!! Also, people are mentioning the color of her dress. On my phone it just looks black. What color is it?
Gotta agree about the placement of the brooch, Kaiser — it was supposed to call attention to the skirt’s side slit but it was so heavy that somehow it seems to have kept pulling toward the center. Maybe it’s just too big to go on such a small woman’s dress. Look, I have a zebra cavorting on the pastures of my privates.
But for me the big news is that Renée has finally got her real face back, fully back. I wondered if it was possible to have that upper eyelid blepharoplasty reversed…must be, huh? And yes, to prove to her critics that her face is all natural, she seems to have foregone Botox and fillers, so a teensy bit of natural aging is evident, but I find that refreshing. I think she looks great. OMGGG, those legs are to die for!
She probably tried Botox around the upper eyelids to lift her saggy lids and its effects are gone now.

The new question is why its a different kind of squinty. She was always smizing, now her eyes feel like she’s in pain in every expression.
Yep, her kids are back to how they were before and she looks great! I am just so confused about what happened. Did she has surgery, Botox, fillers? How did she go from such an extreme change to pretty much reversing it.
Renees face looks great in these photos. In the movie trailers she looks horrible. It looks to me like she finally got some “refreshing” done. And it looks great on her. When people said she looked different before I thought she just looked really haggard.
Not sure about this movie – might wait a bit before going to see it. The brooch placement is to stop us looking at her face.
LOVE Emma Thompson – she knows she’s mad as a box of frogs and doesn’t care. She’s always entertaining on the red carpet – it seems to send her over the edge – i wonder who she photobombed this time.

Renee looks different but I must say she looks better than she did a decade or so ago before she took her hiatus. I remember back then her skin was absolutely dreadful. She must have spent the last ten years just going to the dermatologist, getting spa treatments, and plastic surgery. Her hair is almost always bad. I don’t know why. She seems to like her hair like this but she’d look better if she had a blow out and more volume. The dress looks nice on her but she could have made a better choice for her big comeback. As much as this latest installment of Bridget Jones seems a bit farfetched, I think I am going to go see it. I love Renee as Bridget Jones and hope this movie gets good reviews.
I think Renee is lovely but I agree that she almost always gets her hair wrong. It always looks to me like she just doesn’t want to bother with it. This dress definitely demanded a more polished style.

She looks great to me, and not different at all. I think the whole plastic surgery crisis was much ado about a little overdone botox.
I watched Jerry Maguire yesterday and she looks the same. Maybe a bit more lines on her face which is totally normal. I think she looks great. I love how Emma Thompson looks but I wish it was a different color. I think she would have looked fabulous in navy. JMO.

Lovely family. Emma looks divine. Rene looks like herself again. Honestly, the tan and no eyebrows look was what threw us off so terribly before. I don’t know if that was supposed to try and distract us from her eye work, but it was awful.

Patrick Dempsey’s family looks like a combination of Mean Girls and Children of the Corn. I still love me some Patrick, though. My husband had no idea who he was so I made him watch Can’t Buy Me Love. lol Then for good measure I made him watch Some Kind of Wonderful, because Eric Stoltz.
Eric Stoltz is so damn gorgeous in that movie!!! To this day it makes me swoon…
I like the idea of the dress, but I think the execution was poor. Apparently, I’m the dissenting opinion. I’m okay with that!!!

There is one thing that would help her TONS. Fix her eyebrows a little more. When she made her reappearance and everyone was so disturbed by it, the thing I noticed the most was how she let her brows go lighter and less shaped. For some reason that aged her a bunch. I don’t know why but if she just would make them look like they did before then it would be so much less distracting, and would pull her look together more.
