Miley Cyrus weakly scolded Jimmy Fallon for softballing Trump

You know you seriously screwed up when Miley Cyrus schools you. Promoting her new series Crisis in Six Scenes and her role as a coach on The Voice, Miley appeared on The Tonight Show. During her cover of Bob Dylan’s “Baby, I’m in the Mood for You,” Miley paused her performance to poke fun at host Jimmy Fallon for going easy on Donald Trump when he appeared on the show last week.

“There is nowhere that I would rather be than right here in New York City playing this song with The Roots, and being here on Jimmy Fallon. Let’s all give it up for our host, who is always so much fun, unless you’re Donald Trump. And then don’t even think about messing with my hair, I’m serious.”

So does Miley not write songs anymore? All I’ve seen of her signing lately have been covers. I guess we’ll be spared offerings such as her BB Talk video but other than recording a nine-minute prayer recording on her father’s album, Miley doesn’t seem interested in new music.

As for her weak scolding of Fallon, considering how much Miley hates Trump, I give her credit for her restraint. Jimmy is pretty lucky she went so softball, too, since she dropped an F-Bomb live on Today earlier that day. Plus, Miley might want to avoid any high-horses as she is singing Woody Allen’s praises while promoting their Netflix show. Something nice: I think Miley looked beautiful for both appearances – her hair is darling. Also, she gave a pretty clever response while trying to support her questionable “No more red carpets” position. When Savannah Guthrie asked about it, Miley said, “I don’t really want people to talk about what I’m wearing. That’s usually why I don’t wear too much.” I’ll give Miley the benefit of the doubt that the irony of her making that statement was intentional.

    She really isn’t that bad!

I love her covers of Dolly Parton’s Jolene and Stevie Nicks’ Landslide – she has a distinct, powerful voice and she’s unique in a world of cookie cutter sounding singers.

      • detritus says:

That Jolene recording is one of my favorites. Up there with Nina Simone’s I put a Spell On You and Lennox’s Sweet Dreams.

She has a pretty voice, it’s her personality that is insufferable. that be said she isn’t wrong about trump- he is deportable.

She’s a really good singer. I wish she’d put out another album (and calm down some, although she kinda has).

Everything about Miley offends me: SERIOUSLY, she offends my eyes, my ears, my good taste in music, my brain… On related topical note are White folks SO VERY TENDER THIN SKINNED AND FRAGILE that 2 mins spoken word by this hick is considered “rebuke” “taking to task”?!! Lmmfao …. I Mean… Im gonna be sitting for the Anthem for the rest of my black ass life so I Guess I’ll soon find Out??

I feel that her entire twerk/ reinvention campaign was for nothing. She does not want to follow that angle anymore, therefore no more music either.
Of course, it’s her choice but all that wasted work.

  5. Sarah says:

She should do more Dylan covers and less antics. Her cover of You’re Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go was wonderful

  6. Rosie says:

She is so so so damn beautiful to me.

First of all, Miley just needs to shut up. She doesn’t have the education or maturity to be spouting off about politics. (And, no, I’m not a Trump supporter.) She needs to keep her remarks limited to music. I’m not sure I can stomach The Voice this year with her and her loud mouth on it. I am so sick of looking at her childish, outlandish, ridiculous clothing…she really has a need to call attention to herself.

Can’t believe I thought she was pretty with short hair, because she’s not remotely attractive to me anymore.

  8. Betti says:

I have a soft spot for Miley – she is talented and has a unique voice but agree that her personality is a bit extra, which can the grating after a while.

  9. Anoneemouse says:

So she worries about what people will think about what she is wearing but doesn’t worry that she is becoming known more for her antics than her talent?

  10. serena says:

I like Miley, I think she’s talented and underrated. She often goes to extremes and that’s why people get tired of her, but when she’s more ‘calm’ -don’t know how to put it into word- that’s when I think there’s still hope. And thank god she is doing covers now, because her latest songs were weird and not so good at all.

Also, I like that she spoke up to Fallon but yeah, I’m a bit disappointed at her joining the Woody Allen circus.

The show isn’t for Netflix, it’s for Amazon. The picture of her in front of the red poster for it even says Amazon.
