For much of the spring and summer, I was complaining endlessly about Kristen Stewart’s dumb hair. I understood why her hair was dumb, don’t get me wrong! I just thought she should have found a better solution to her hair issues. The problem was that Kristen’s hair was overprocessed after doing several films back-to-back, and I think she was just tired of dyeing and re-dyeing it and she just wanted to let it go natural for several months. That left her with the worst roots ever, combined with the fact that she didn’t seem to washing her hair at all. It just looked awful.
But a new K-Stew has emerged out of the Bad Hair Cocoon. And it’s a beautiful platinum-blonde butterfly! While I don’t necessarily think this shade of blonde is Kristen’s color, I’m just so relieved to see her do something different with her hair. So I sort of love this, actually. She got a shorter haircut too, and I like the sort of Bowie-styling she’s using. These photos are from a Chanel promotional dinner in LA, at the Sunset Tower, where Lily-Rose Depp was acting as hostess. Lily-Rose is one of the faces of Chanel, as is Kristen, and I’m including some photos of Lily-Rose too.
As for the fashion… Kristen makes her Chanel ensemble look comfortable and wearable. Lily-Rose makes her Chanel ensemble look… um, inappropriate? I don’t even know what word to use here. Lily-Rose is 17 years old going on 38.

I hate to say this about a child but Lily Rose looks like she’s constantly high. Look at pictures of her now compared to pics of her during Sundance last year. ever since Deppgate she has been looking super skinny and out of it

It’s not even just that it’s inappropriate for a 17 year old, it’s that the outfit is so trashy looking. That does not look designer at all. She looks like a typical teen trying to look rich (like back in the Paris Hilton days).
I hate the bleached hair with dark eyebrows. But Kristen looks comfortable with herself and that shows.

I actually think Kristen’s yellow hair is pinned up in back, don’t think she’s cut it. It’s pinned up and glued down with gel….not sure how anyone could say her hair looks good. Yikes, Lily Rose’s outfit looks so inappropriate. I usually don’t get judgy but there is something way too mature about the outfit for a 17 year old to be wearing. This is not the first time she has been decked out in an overly mature look either.
Kstew’s outfit is surprisingly fantastic and suits her style, and you can tell that she is definitely comfortable because she looks confident. She often is decked out in Karl’s oddest/worst looks, so whoever picked this out for her seemed to be actually styling her rather than randomly picking a new outfit. I actually dig the hairstyle too but the color…no bueno.
Is there something a little different about Kristen’s face? Teeth? You know how people often do a drastic hair change when they’ve had something done facially as a tricksy little distraction? I could be wrong.
She looks like she’s gained some weight (which is a good thing). Her face looked gaunt for a while and now she looks healthier/refreshed.

Anyway.. about Lily Rose.. for some reason her look, though not great but not scandalous either, seems really inappropriate. Maybe it’s because of her blank/trying sexy expression or maybe because she’s so thin, but I feel uncomfortable watching her. And I’m not trying to bodyshame or anything, I think the problem is her expression, she’s seems over it or really annoyed and it wouldn’t hurt if she showed a little bit of appreciation since we know how she got all her jobs.
i agree about lily rose, i feel uncomfortable looking at such a stiff- well, overly-thin/emaciated, overly-sexualized, over-posing, under-dressed 17 yr old. not a good look for her at all and her modelling doesn’t seem up to the level, especially not for chanel. nepotism, much? there must be something else these celebrity children can do with themselves, go to college or something, before they start renting themselves out for brands.

I don’t want to slam Lily Rose, but God, poor girl. She’s got dead eyes (even before the scandal) and a really uncomfortable stance. I would too if I was wearing those pants. But she chose them, she should be able to wear them. Also, she always looks like Christina Ricci to me. But not so oddly beautiful or nearly charismatic enough. How did Depp get Ricci’s twin as a daughter? That’s an unusual twist of fate.
Like Ricci, you either have it or you don’t, even by the age of 17. And yes, the outfit doesn’t work and makes her look top heavy, with the shoulder pads, like a linebacker. I just think the whole ensemble doesn’t work at all and she’s not model material. Stewart above, has got it, she’s working it. That might have saved her movie career, Saunders or not. It’s too late now. I’ve seen other pictures of Lily Rose too, and if the camera doesn’t love you, then you probably shouldn’t be in the business. Harsh, but then so is the fashion world.
As for age appropriate, I’ve seen pics of Kate Moss and others when they were far younger or the same age, but rocked the runway. And elsewhere. Wearing next to nothing. I love it when Dita Von Teese does it for Gaultier, or shows up in her custom made Louboutins. Age has nothing to do with modeling, but charisma and confidence certainly do.
It seems like a very bad home-bleach job. It’s too yellow, and different colors of yellow. She needs a good toner in that.
It’s a very brassy color and, blonde or brunette, I think Kristen looks better with a more natural vibe. That’s how she seems the most comfortable, anyway.
kristen stewart looks amazing actually. she seems to be more at ease in her skin and owning it more than ever before here. the haircut is sleek, it shows how long her neck is. her pose seems sexy and natural. moment of recognition for how far she’s come from the lip-biting, passive-aggressive uncomfortably-slouchy thing she did on the red carpet for years.

Stewart’s hair is just plain awful. Especially the last photo. Color is wrong and her hair looks fried. I hope she will let it return to it natural, beautiful color.
Lily Rose is in serious need of parental guidance. Or living her teenage life away from the camera. because-everything is bad: her outfit, her look, her pose. She does not look healthy, she looks like someone who’ll discuss this period of her life for years with different therapists in the future.*

I’m having a real hard time with this.
I don’t want to concern troll. I don’t want to pick at someone so young. But something is not healthy or right here. Gut feeling. Maybe it’s stress over the recent bad publicity. It would be really hard having your dad, who is probably one of your role models and still ‘perfect dad’ to you, get his nasty side exposed. I doubt she is doing well with that, I doubt any kids her age would deal well with it. So I’m trying to give her a break.

I remember when I used to have Kristen Stewart hair envy, back when it was shiny and glossy and thick and a gorgeous rich brown. Not anymore! I think both her hair and makeup are awful here. The clothes are just “meh” for me, but I’m not a Chanel fan to begin with.
As for Lily Rose? She worries me, and that’s all I have to say!

Lily-Rose’s outfit looks like something Robert Plant would have worn on stage in the 70s. I actually love looking at pictures of him of that time, always puts a smile on my face.

Lily-Rose was concerning even before the DV scandal broke. When she was public with Ash, smoking… She comes accross way better in interview though. Goofy, pleasant and classicly teen-y.
While I’m not loving the platinum blonde on Kristen, it looks waay better than it did before. And this is the most relaxed and happy I’ve ever seen her look in public, so good for her. Lili-Rose is a no. The shoulders on that jacket are making her lower body look even teeny-er; the proportions are just all off (although I’m sure Karl approves). She does look stressed and unhappy, poor thing. I also hope she doesn’t continue with the smoking habit she undoubtedly picked up from her parents. People who are born beautiful always seem to want to wreck their looks. I don’t get it.
