Does anyone think Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are about to wage a giant divorce battle over their money or real estate? Eh. Brad Pitt has a lot of stuff, absolutely. He was always wealthier than Angelina, and he’s made a lot more money in their 11-plus years together. Together, they bought real estate and built homes around the world. But they’re not going to fight over the “stuff,” mostly because – I suspect – Angelina will willingly giving up any and all claims to half of Brad’s fortune. Yes, they have a prenup and the whole thing is pretty clear-cut. But we’ve seen women fight the prenup before and win. I just don’t think Angelina will fight it.
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are not going to have big financial issues, because they were only married for 2 years and they might have been expecting a divorce since day 1 … ’cause they have a prenup spelling out exactly who gets what … TMZ has learned. Sources close to the couple tell us their prenuptial agreement is ironclad and details the specifics of their combined fortune … a reported $400 mil.
Brangelina have 12 total properties together … all of which they snatched up either before they were married or before they were even dating. 7 of those belong to Brad, 2 to Angie and 3 which they bought together prior to tying the knot in 2014.
It’s unclear who exactly shelled out what for those 3 properties, which include a vineyard in France, a mansion in New Orleans and an apartment in NY … but we’re told the prenup makes divvying all that up simple. Rather than properties being an issue in the divorce, we’re told CUSTODY of their kids will be where the war really plays out. As we reported … Brad plans to fight for joint physical custody of their 6 children.
Yeah, pretty much. What are Angelina’s two properties, I wonder? She once owned a converted farmhouse in England, although I sort of believed she sold it long ago. She’ll easily part with Chateau Miraval in France, and she’ll part with the New Orleans mansion too. She’ll probably ask for the New York apartment and call it a day. Plus, it’s not like Angelina’s poor – if she wanted one or two of their jointly held properties, she could easily buy out Brad as well. In any case, yes, the real battle is going to be for custody of the kids.

But child custody is also a financial issue. If AJ gets full physical custody, Pitt would have to pay her a lot of money in child support. If they split custody, presumably he would not. Weird that the pre-nup wouldn’t address the custody issue!
I’m sure the prenup did address custody, but this “investigation” into Brad’s conduct with on the plane, surely changes whatever they had put on paper originally…
Couples don’t typically spell out custody arrangements in a prenup, and if they did, I’m fairly certain it’s not enforceable.
Prenups address money and property they don’t normally include child custody.
Because pre-nups for custody are NEVER enforceable. The courts decide based on the best interest of the child, not the convenience, or pre-arranged agreements of the parents.
Custody arrangements in a pre-nup are not legally enforceable. Children are not property you can use as leverage in a divorce. The courts determine what is best for the children and it can be modified over the years to best fit the needs of the child. You don’t know why you will get divorced the kids should not be stuck in a bad situation because of an agreement their parents made years ago. And there are established formulas for determining support.
Didn’t they sell their New Orleans property? Over the years I’ve read a million stories about the houses they own and most of them were fake. It sounds like TMZ is using the Daily Mail fabricated stories.

Maybe this is just me, but why would a couple own 10+ properties? I can see having a few (for example, one on each coast, then maybe two or three overseas), but I’d think the expense of maintaining each property would add up so quickly! Are they mostly for investments?
The New Orleans property is still held in one of Brad’s company names. It goes on and off the market but hasn’t sold. It’s dropped almost a million in price. You can search curbed dot com to get the address and then search the tax assessor site for ownership history.
Yeah, I’ve read that brad has a crazy, World War Z type compound in Missouri, which is not discussed here. I also read the N.O. property was sold. I had never read about their L.A. compound until this divorce, so the media strategy they employ makes it seem like they are in France way more often than they actually are, I think.
His LA compound has been reported on for years. Every time he bought another neighbouring property next to it, something popped up in media. What wasn’t reported was how it was forged into one huge compound from all the properties.
I always thought it was a good move security-wise if he didn’t want to leave the area.
I remember the sale of a Malibu house to Ellen. Looking at the house in question, not practical at all for family living, but catnip to artchitecture / interior design fans.
It sounds like they made up some stuff! NY city apartment? Every time they where in NY they stayed in hotels.
Maybe the ny City Apartment is an old one that isn’t big enough for all the kids but they kept because it makes sense as an investment?

I think the NO house is still on the market, and I’ve seen photos of the Los Angeles compound – he owned that before her, but I think bought the neighboring properties while together.
I can’t imagine owning that many properties, and having them sit empty the majority of the time.

I’m not sure they own 12 properties. The Los Feliz house is made up of 4 or 5 properties Brad purchased over the years. They only property I’ve heard Angelina buying is wildlife preserves in Africa and Asia. There have been a lot of fake rumors about their property. Whenever they rent a place while filming or vacationing, the press always says they bought a house.
Prenup is no issue, child support is, depending on how the pendulum swings. Six is a lot to pay out for to maintain their known lifestyle.
Wasn’t the Château up for sale or sold earlier this year? It seems in the last 9 months they have been dissolving assets.
They were just on there way from Chateau Miraval last week, when the incident on the plane happened.
Frankly I think all of these so called stories are fake and not leaked by both parties.
I simply don’t think that 2 people like Brad & Angelina, who loves their children will get into a nasty custody battle.
I believe that they each released a statement about the divorce and that’s it. They are both now working behind the scenes to sort out the finer details.
Brad & Angelina have always ignored the media and just did what they wanted. Same is happening here is my bet.
The media has always hated Angelina because she didn’t play their game and Ofcourse they will write bad stuff about her (real and fake).

Also, Angelina CERTAINLY plays the game. She just does it (usually) with more finesse than most others.
I am looking around and I don’t see any nastiness coming from the both teams.
I never believed sources on anything and never believe stories from the media.
Same with Depp and Amber – I didn’t believe Johnny to be that vile until I saw the video.
I may be naive and it doesn’t really affect my life in any way but I learned a long time ago to only believe people’s own statements and interviews. Anything else is just pure gossip.
When you ask for physical custody of the kids it is going to get nasty. You have to prove why the other person is unfit for 50/50 custody.

They can write a lot of hateful lies and claim it’s from “sources.” I believe very little of it.
I find it hilarious how many people are saying that “oh it’s just made up sources” when it comes to Brad and Angelina. But the most sketchy of sources when it came to TSwift would absolutely enrage people.
At the end of the day, I’d guess that 75% of these kinds of stories are fabricated. They know what people will believe, or pay attention to – and they run with it. They can make a story out of nothing, and it will spread like wildfire.

You always need to look behind the curtain with these types of stories. Most outlets are carrying BS but two or three are credible.
Nobody denies that Laura Wasser has a mutually beneficial relationship with Harry Levin. Nobody denies that Laura Wasser is not your best trial lawyer, shes the person you call if you want to blitz the other party and force an out of court settlement. Very few people deny that she used TMZ and others in her most recent high profile case – Heard v Depp.
I think based on the stream of accurate info coming from TMZ those first five days, Wasser was at work. Even the one story they got wrong, (FBI rather than LAPD) hints at Wasser. If their source is law enforcement, they would know which one. It sounds like she either phrased her tip vaguely or she wasnt aware that the FBI had taken the case. Brad has his outlet too and he seems to be making headway with TMZ but those first few days, Angelina was working the PR hard.
For the well-being of the children, I trust that AJ and BP divorce will be a “conscious” one like Gwyneth Paltrow’s. She really defined an amicable uncoupling and everyone seemed okay.
Agree – which is why I don’t believe any of these stories are being leaked by the parties. That is just the media feeding on scandals.
Isn’t disgraceful for the some of the media to make up awful stories to make money? They are hurting people to make a lousy buck.
There was a lot she could do to prevent it from becoming this nasty. Any protracted custody battle will not be amicable.

Angelina owns some land in Cambodia, that’s for sure, that is a part of the protective forest that her foundation funds. She build a little house there before she got together with Brad. I believe she still owns that.

Can I just point out that getting a prenup to start with does not indicate the parties thought it was going to fail from the start? Its simply good business sense, especially with their massive fortunes.
Agreed. I think it’s a good idea in general, if either party has an assets.
Prenups are a great idea, assets or no. No one can predict what their situation will look like in 5, 10, 15 years. Get one regardless to protect your interests.
She asked for no child or spousal support though when she filed. I agree that money won’t be an issue with them. As to custody, I think it will be split 50/50 with the judge reccomending counseling or rehab for him. OR make it a condition for him to retain 50/50 custody. We’re also not counting what the children will say in the court proceedings which will also carry weight in the judge’s decision. Are we certain they’re all in lockstep with mom in terms of wanting to live with her or will it be another Rocco/ Madonna situation for some?

I have never envied the life of celebrities, now more than ever. I would never swap my simple life for theirs, not even for all the money in the world.
No surprise to me that Angelina doesn’t care about the money. Seems pretty consistent with her usual priorities over the last decade or more….I still hold out hope that Brad Pitt will try to follow his ex wife’s footsteps and handle his divorce with respect for her and his children. I know the marriage is through but surely he learned a thing or two from her over the last ten years?
Oh, I think she definitely cares about the money. She is staying in a 95k a month rental. She cares. She has learned a thing or two from Pitt as well.

I’m disappointed that having a prenup is seen as predicting divorce. The couple had 6 kids and extensive assets when they got married. They were protecting themselves AND their children.

All this talk of a custody fight. There won’t be one; both will get legal and physical custody. In CA that’s standard, barring heavily documented criminal or seriously abusive behavior from one of the parents. None of that is present here, last week’s nasty airport incident aside.
Brad would have to be caught with a kilo of heroin on him, and a dead body, to possibly lose his custodial rights. Add in his immense wealth, power and profile and it’s just a no-go.
Both sides know this is given so any moves to the contrary are a waste of time and money and a terrible stress on the children. I’m not certain why Angie even initially asked for sole physical custody in her filing, since she and her attorney would know that wasn’t going to happen. It just stirred up a lot of speculation and gossip over-boil.
The older kid(s) will have a say on who they live with. Little to no chance that Maddox won’t have any input in it, at the very least.
How old do the kids have to be to have some input in California? I think Maddox is the only one who’s legally old enough.

Angelina had a place in Cambodia, she also had a house in L.A. before moving in with Brad that she may have held on to. And she had the country estate in England, which was the site of the famous Maddox / Brad ORV photos. Thought that was already sold a few years back.

Angelina doesn’t seem to be frivolous with her money. Before she was ever with Brad she explained how she handles her $. She saves some, put some away for Maddox and gave some to charities.

Brad has six properties in his compound in Los Feliz, and the house in Santa Barbara. Angelina has owned a small apartment in a famous prewar building in New York, whose name escapes me at the moment, for almost two decades. She also owned her mother’s home. She may still, and her brother lives there. Or she bought a small place when she adopted Maddox. But the massive house she bought with Billy Bob he kept, because it had a recording studio. The TH in New Orleans has been on the market forever, and they own a massive apt in NYC. But in the divorce filing, it specifically states Angelina will need an additional residence, so I assume she wants a home in LA large enough for her children! which she will see 50% of the time, instead of the 100% now. Stupid woman.
