Meh. It was a peek of underb00b. It didn’t look horrible (not klassy, mind you, but she’s young). I wondered too, which is why I clicked on it. There have been all sorts of articles and rumours floating around recently that bras aren’t so good for us, so I thought this might be a different POV.
I had a giant argument with my partner that going bra less would make your boobs sag. He said no, I said most definitely yes.
We looked it up and i was so sure. Obnoxiously gloatingly sure.
AaaaandI had to eat crow, because a lot of science points towards no. Skins sags from damage and age, not bra wearing status.
I remain only partially convinced because it seems illogical. Weight pulling on anything for years would stretch it.
Back to,the point, maybe that’s what was meant about regretting bralessness?

I’m dog-tired atm so I’ll read your link later but the source I read (a pretty cool, low-key website on breasts, with a “real breast” gallery showing aaall kinds and sizes of breasts and dispelling common myths – I googled now and not sure if link are allowed here but you’ll find it if you search for “real breast gallery” or just “007b breasts”)… anyway, that website said wearing bras causes the Cooper’s ligaments in your breasts to weaken like unused muscles and breasts sag as a result. I’ve been pretty much bra-free ever since I read it 7 years ago (I might put on a bralette for a few hours a day here and there) and my breasts look exactly the same. Granted, they are small (but not super tiny). Not sure it’d work this way with big breasts.
There’s only one or two studies that have suggested bras cause sagging, and honestly, given how many other variables affect that, I kind of side-eye it. The most common cause of sagging is size fluctuation – which is real reason why women who give birth and/or nurse often suffer from it, same for women who undergo extreme weight loss/gain. Women with small breasts are obviously going to have a completely different experience than women with very large ones. The traditional image of a “perfect” breast (rounded, slightly pushed upward) is something that I’ve never had simply because I’ve always had large breasts, and they naturally pull into a tear drop shape. A friend of mine is a 36G – no amount of going bra-less is going to make Cooper’s ligaments work any better at holding up 30-40 pounds of fat and skin against the power of gravity.
If going braless prevents sagging…why did all those national geographic covers feature topless aboriginals with extremely saggy breasts! Anyone else remember those magazine covers?! LOL. They are burned in my preteen memory as a PSA for wearing a bra
Lack of birth control and emphasis on continuing the progeny… also childcare and birth being particularly difficult, resulting in the loss of infants and babies, which often means women have to continue to “try”. (I’m not coming at this from an ignorant place–there are plenty of good documentaries, books, and journalistic pieces that highlight how difficult it is to be female and to be/become a mother in many places.)
If Lupita were ever to release a style guide, I would wear that thing out. She pulls off outfits like nobody else.

Lupita is showing pride in her culture. African women have been wearing geles for ages, it’s part of their culture so I doubt she’s going to stop because you think it ages her.
I’ve been gng braless close to a decade. Seems fine. I just use washable nippies. Never regretted it. Bras are now for sex. But I’m not huge so I’m not sure if nippies are enough for bigger boobs.

Girrrrl I have larger breasts (Ds) and I go braless all the time. It’s nobody’s business, I doubt there’s any science behind hey my boobs will be saggy when I get age, and even if there were, I would rather be comfortable now. And yeah I realize she’s fame-grabbing so there’s an attention element in this equation that isn’t relative to my life, but come on, insisting on wearing bras because breasts are inappropriate is some serious pearl clutching.
