Emily Blunt wears Prada to the ‘Girl/Train’ premiere: lovely or boring?

The big NYC premiere of The Girl on the Train was rather low-key last night. Considering the buzz around the film, I do wonder if the studio decided to just save some money and do a quiet, non-glitzy premiere. Emily Blunt was definitely the star in her pretty and summery Prada dress. I bet her husband, John Krasinski, asked her to wear Prada, especially since The Devil Wears Prada is like his favorite movie, basically. While I can usually find twenty-million faults with Prada dresses, I do like this one. Even Prada’s weird boob-darting doesn’t look bad here.

Emily’s costar Haley Bennett wore Altuzarra – this is the “Cottonwood” dress. Only a slender woman could pull this off – the ruffles would have made a curvier woman look like a sofa. The detailing is pretty, but I think she might look better in a cleaner look?

I’m truly surprised that Justin Theroux went solo at the premiere. I expected Jennifer Aniston to be his date, because why wouldn’t she? JT looks fine, but as I’ve said before – I think he’s better looking when he’s a bit scruffy. He’s too shiny here.

    That awful lipstick!
    Why?

    • KB says:

It’s such an unnatural and unflattering color. Alicia Machado was photographed or did an interview wearing that same shade and I couldn’t believe such a beautiful woman would do that to herself, I guess I can add Emily to that list now!

    • Karen says:

When I saw the main picture quick I thought it was Iggy from the new brighter blonde to the pink shade of lipstick. I need more coffee

    • Erinn says:

Haha, I kind of like the color. But the color with that shade of hair – it’s not good. If she had brown hair, it wouldn’t be nearly as weird looking.

    • Seraphina says:

So agree On The lipstick. Sometimes we should try just because it’s “in” no matter what

And the dress looks way better in the shot where she is walking.

    • Kate says:

I know! it’s so wrong for her skin tone

  2. Grant says:

I like EB’s dress but I don’t like the shoes with that dress.

    • tracking says:

I think the dress is lovely–great colors–but agree about the shoes, as well as the terrible lipstick. Haley Bennett looks drop-dead gorgeous though. Adore the whole look.

Love the dress, very unique, especially color combo.

Craft foam and gift wrapping ribbon.

Emily’s dress would have been cute if this was 2004. I do like the color and fit, though.

Haley’s dress is nice but seems too casual for a nighttime premiere.

Justin’s face reminds me of chicken jerky. Something nice to say: The suit does fit him well and he has a nice smile.

I am not sure why anyone expected Jennifer to show up though. While it seems we are in the final days of Mr. and Mrs. Split2016. She would constantly be asked about the divorce which would take away from Justin’s spotlight. If I am right, she is being kind of considerate here.

There was prom dress looking like that in the 90s. Not nice.
And that bumble gum pink lipstick :/

  6. QQ says:

That’s an Odd length and odder still paired with those nails/shoes/lip color…

There’s something about Justin Theroux I find so unappealing. I don’t know what it is. It’s not like he’s ugly and he hasn’t proven himself to be a tool. But I just can’t stand looking at him.

    • KikiGee says:

@esceptic I find him way too manicured. Just wrong on a man. I can’t look at a photo of him without screwing my face up, so I know where you’re coming from.

  8. Chaine says:

I think Jen wisely stayed home so that the spotlight was on the movie and its stars, not on her and Brangelina.

    • K says:

Agreed I can think of a lot of reasons why jenn wouldn’t gO, and who said she wasn’t there she might have just skipped the carpet.

Sadly at this point avoiding the carpet is supporting her husband because it keeps the focus on the project.

  9. FingerBinger says:

Is that seafoam green? The dress and pink lipstick don’t pair well.

  10. LizLemonGotMarried says:

Holy Southern Bridesmaid Batman! I’m sorry, that looks like the bridesmaid’s dress, in the South, where the bride says that she wants you to be able to wear the dress again, and you politely agree on how pretty it will be, and how you can wear it for a cocktail party, but secretly you both know that this is a waste of $200.00.

Also, I HATE her shoes. The lipstick and nails don’t bother me, but those shoes are weighing that dress down.

Love Haley’s dress. Emily’s is….meh. Justin cleans up well – actually quite cute when not sporting jorts.

  12. ell says:

the dress is… ok. the lipstick is horrendous though. haley bennet is the prettiest, but the dress is terrible.

  13. Jusayin says:

John, Haley and Justin look great (Althougu, Justin’s pants are a bit too tight for my liking). I think I would have liked the dress and makeup more on Emily if her hair color was brunette. I think the blonde washes her out. I personally love her with dark hair.

  14. Locke Lamora says:

Every time I see Haley I remember that Budha song from Music & Lyrics.

  15. Merritt says:

The dress seems too bright for fall.

  16. SusanneToo says:

Love Emily, hate the dress. Hate both dresses, actually.

  17. Jenny says:

JT looks like a too slick car salesman here. I want to like the man because he seems like an okay dude and really talented but there’s something about him that just turns me off in a major way.
