Hillary Clinton felt like Donald Trump was ‘stalking’ her at the 2nd debate

We’re not even five full days removed the appalling and disturbing second presidential debate, in which Donald Trump sniffed, lied and deplorable’d his way through his attempt at physically and emotionally intimidating Hillary Clinton. In the wake of Trump’s performance, many people noted how disturbing his body language was throughout, as he kept creeping up behind her, following her around the room. When the debate first started, I actually thought HRC was in physical danger, that Trump would work himself up to the point where he physically threatened Hillary in some way and Anderson Cooper would have to pull Trump off of her.

Well, Hillary Clinton did a taped interview with Ellen DeGeneres yesterday, which airs on today’s show. Ellen is pretty much unapologetically pro-Democrat – Barack Obama was her guy and now HRC is her candidate. One of Ellen’s first questions to HRC was about what she was feeling at that debate, what it was like to be in that room. Hillary said she felt “stalked.”

HRC says in regards to the debate:

“First, it was clear that my opponent, Donald Trump, was going to try to dominate the space almost to the exclusion of the people who were sitting there. I mean, they were sitting there so that we could talk to them and that they could ask questions we would then answer. And because of the revelation of the public video and everything that came out on Access Hollywood he was really all wrought up and you could just sense how much anger he had. And, so he was really trying to dominate and then literally stalk me around the stage and I would just feel this presence behind me and I thought whoa this is really weird so I was just trying to stay focused. Trying to keep my composure, trying to interact with the moderators, but really for me, more with the people there and deal with the string of accusations that he was putting forth. And it’s frustrating. I feel such a sense of obligation to people that I work at trying to make sure what I’m saying is appropriate, is accurate, conveying that to people.”

I’ll just leave the link to that Rebecca Traister article again. The fact that Donald Trump was so “wrought up” and that he was physically intimidating Hillary says so much about how he sees women and how he thinks women should be dealt with.

Ellen also asked HRC about getting sick last month and Clinton admitted that she learned something new: “My advice is if you have pneumonia, stop for a while.” She also talked about how much she loved Michelle Obama’s speech (HRC said she was “in awe” of MO) and that she (Hillary) doesn’t believe this election is over and that everyone should still turn out and vote.

He was stalking her. And I know several people who actually thought he was going to physically assault her on that stage, people who are not usually prone to overreaction who were going “whoa, what is he doing?” That was scary. Dude needs to wear a seatbelt for the next debate. And do less blow.

    • cindy says:

Agree. Creepy to watch. Blech. I am ready for this to be over and for her to be president already. Enough with this walking personality disorder.

    • LinaLamont says:

The more blow; the better… for us.

Also, the only bright spot in this election is watching the Reps eat each other alive. ‘Tis a thing of beauty.

    • doofus says:

“And I know several people who actually thought he was going to physically assault her on that stage”

I was one of them. I think he was on the verge.

      • original kay says:

yes, at my house too. we were concerned for her safety during the debate.

      • Annie says:

I even said to my husband during the second debate watching him stalk her around the stage, ” He’s not going to hit her, is he?!?” I found it extremely disturbing, the stalking, grimaces, frowns, sniffing. His whole body language was one of intimidation.

      • Megan says:

Yep. I watched it with my mom and Hubby and we all thought he was going to physically attack here. It was so unsettling to watch.

    • jwoolman says:

Maybe they should put a short leash on him to keep him from wandering so much. Maybe one of those toddler harnesses.

    • EscapedConvent says:

I thought that maybe they could get Agent Orange his own scooter for the next debate. Then he could follow Hillary around the stage to his heart’s content. It would help her keep track of him, too. He couldn’t just creep up behind her like the creeping creeper he is. It is astonishing that he has no sense of the inappropriate. I kept wishing that Anderson Cooper would say something about it—-it would have been entertaining to hear how it was Bill Clinton’s fault that he was onstage, stalking Hillary.

    • Belle Epoch says:

I am so glad we are talking about this! It was SO disturbing and threatening. Hillary is a small person – I don’t know if the TV accurately conveyed a 6 foot large man in a shoulder padded suit looming two feet behind a small woman who is trying to think straight. I believe Trump is getting his debate prep from Ailes and Giuliani – two other inappropriate psychos on the crazy train. I don’t know HOW she kept from turning around and HOW she continued to think straight. Nerves of steel. I am worried heis going to send his mob connections after her.

      • Chrissy says:

That’s what I took away from that debate: Hillary Clinton was so unbelievably strong and unflappable. When you think of the 30 odd years she’s been in the Republican crosshairs and she hasn’t lost it (that we know of), I come away thinking how admirable she is. Even having never met her, I am so proud of this remarkable woman.

      • Annetommy says:

        I believe he’s 6’2″ or 3″. She’s c 5’4″. It was creepy.

      • InLurvvve says:

I’m had my 10 yr old watch the debate and I have to say I’m sorry. It was unsettling but he was too young to know why he was in a bad mood til the next day. Call me a bad mom but I had no idea it would turn so strange

      • Sarah says:

Since the debate and his recent speeches, pundits are saying that Breitbart’s Bannon is running the show. And from the things he’s been saying and the way he’s been acting, I think they are right. He’s burning the place down, per a NY Times Op Ed today.

    • LiterallyaShambles says:

It was horrifying, no doubt. He lacks any semblance of decency.
Looking back, though, is it okay to say that his attempt at “scary face” is almost laughable?

    • Goo says:

In the “debate” world it is called, intimidation/power…. Something one learns in Debate 101 and Civics.

      • Nancy says:

He must have failed Debate 101 as he failed in the debate with HRC. He went low and lost, she went high and will be President.

      • Goo says:

Obviously she was intimidated…. She is still using it as a talking point 2 weeks later.

      • Who ARE These People? says:

Intimidation is one thing; menacing quite another. He was menacing.

      • doofus says:

        2 weeks later?

even though that debate was only 5 days ago?

and Ellen asked her about it…a talking point is something completely different.

there’s only one “obvious” thing here and that is that you don’t have a clue.

      • Goo says:

        @doofus…. Your name speaks volumes.

      • AreYouKittenMe? says:

        Wow Goo.
You sure learned a lot from your orange hero, huh? That insult was right out of the Trump debate playbook: When you just had your ass handed to you, start hurling insults instead of engaging in a civil debate.

      • JLo says:

As much as I hate the orange one, his posturing is pretty classic body language for debate/ public speaking when you want to intimidate your opponent and throw them off. When I was prepping for mock trials, I was taught to stand in my opponents personal space, if possible, and lean on opposing counsel’s table during arguments to communicate to the jury that I was dominant.

      • K2 says:

The problem is, Goo, that most people are not debate geeks, and do not have any interest in geeky strategies to win small events. Most people watching a televised debate between two people who want to become President of the United States of America are looking for evidence that a candidate has some class, some composure, and some self-control: is, in short, a fit person to fill such an office.

Trump came across as a blend of Hannibal Lector and David Brent. That is not a presidential asset.

      • doofus says:

and yet, I still made you look foolish, Goo.

but keep trying, you might get better.

      • Melly says:

Aww we found another Trump supporter troll @goo

      • lightpurple says:

@Goo, the difference between two weeks and five days is something that one learns in early grade school.

    • Lahdidahbaby says:

Yeah, Izzy, I do believe he was stalking her in their allotted space as a way of intimidating her and by contrast appearing more powerful than her to the viewers. I saw this morning the transcript of an interview he did with Howard Stern in which he puts down men who are very good to their wives, his point being that POWER comes from being hard, severe, and in charge. I think he was trying that very same approach in the debate: Be in a position of power over Clinton by intimidating her, dwarfing her visually, and by dominating the space they shared. It didn’t work; in fact, it had the opposite effect: he looked like a dangerously unhinged stalker.

      • Sarah says:

He looked like a stalker to us, the sane. To his worshippers, he looked like he out that uppity you-know-what in her place.
I can’t imagine how he’ll escalate for the last debate. I’ve never heard a Presidential candidate say 90% of the hateful crap that comes out of his mouth.

    • Carmen says:

It sure looked like he was stalking her. He was pacing back and forth behind her and looming over her like some negative elemental force. If was meant to totally intimidate. Next time tether him to the damn floor.

    • For real says:

Wikileaks. Have you read the emails?

  2. minx says:

    He was.

  3. CommentingBunny says:

    It was profoundly disturbing.

  4. Neelyo says:

My heart broke for her when he said she was full of hate. It was such an unnecessary cruel statement and so completely untrue. Maybe I was reading into it but she looked like she’d been stabbed. I felt that way.

    • Santia says:

It was horrible. That and calling her Satan or the devil (I forget which). He has no sense of human decency.

      • bleu_moon says:

That seemed like a shout out to Alex Jones of Info Wars with his “Hillary and Obama are demons who smell like sulfur” rubbish. Trump has been on his show before. I’m not sure if Trump believes Hillary is a devil/demon or is such a moral black hole of a human he will coddle any crazy that may toss a vote his way.

      • Alarmjaguar says:

The devil, yep. I couldn’t believe it

    • Jayna says:

He is a monster, as far as I’m concerned.

Who would say such thing in a debate to any nominee for President?

      • jwoolman says:

He doesn’t seem to see the difference between a political rally for his supporters and a formal debate in front of the entire nation. He gets cheered at his rallies every time he says crooked Hillary, lock her up, she’s the devil, etc. It really is bizarre.

      • Christin says:

A woman who worked on his management team for 18 years (Barbara Res) summed it up yesterday in a CNN interview — He lacks experience and temperament. She said he doesn’t seem to even have a grasp of basic civics.

She had a great interview yesterday, but it got washed away by all the other headlines.

      • Sarah says:

Christin, that woman was great! She said he’s deeply vindictive, that if attacked with a gun, he comes back with nukes, and he can never let anything go. He’s also a thief and lied to them all of the time as he got more taken with himself. Oh, and he got more perverted also.

      • nicole says:

No one, apart from a low life horrible, heartless person like he is.

  5. HeidiM says:

Its a shameful display that his foolishness is allowed to continue. His own party doesn’t want him anymore.

  6. Santia says:

He was, but she probably shouldn’t have mentioned it. Trump is like a child, the more you tell him not to do something, the more he wants to do it. He will definitely be in her space even more now, because he knows it bothered her.

    • jwoolman says:

The third debate will be at podiums, so he won’t be able to pace around so easily and especially get behind her.

Remember that Secret Service is always present. If Trump had made a move on her, his and her Secret Service would have been on him quickly.

    • Merritt says:

I disagree. She was right to mention it. ignoring and not acknowledging threatening behavior doesn’t help anyone other than the creeper.

      • Emily says:

She was right to mention it, but isn’t it so unfair that she has to worry about whether or not she should? Ugh.

      • original kay says:

The thing with mentioning it, is he likes it. It gives him ammunition to keep doing it. It’s not normal thinking. Now he knows it, he will do it whenever he can. It feeds him. She had to acknowledge it because the public needed to hear she understood his behaviour and it still didn’t rattle her, but in terms of dealing with him, he loves he got to her.

My mother is the same way. If I mention something upsets me, she does it MORE. and then laughs it off. pretends she “forgot” or I am “over reacting”. It’s NPD.

Telling them how you feel is the very worst thing you could ever do.

And if you catch them in a lie, they deny deny. If you have proof, they still deny, pivot, gaslight. And when they finally cannot avoid it by other means, deflection, etc, they go into a narcissistic rage. It’s scary and incomprehensible unless you’ve seen it or heard it. He does a variation in public, the deep breathing and eye narrowing, the pursing of his ugly mouth. He must be horrifying in private, to witness one of his rages.

      • Merritt says:

        @original kay

He might like it but his opportunities to do it more to Hillary Clinton are limited. The next debate is not going to be a town hall.

And all he is currently doing is playing to his base. The people who for whatever reason claim to be undecided are more likely to be turned off.

    • Betsy says:

She definitely should have mentioned it in order to get under his skin. The next one isn’t a town hall style, but nutty can’t contain himself and who knows what he’ll say or do if provoked.

    • Trashaddict says:

Santia I totally agree with you on that. She showed great strength in ignoring his posturing in the moment and she should continue to do it. To say he is intimidating is to give him power he doesn’t deserve. The more you ignore this man the better. Although the debate mediators should have been telling him to sit his A@# down and that he’d be ejected from the debate if he didn’t behave civilly.

  7. SusanneToo says:

He was stalking her and I commented on it in the live debate thread. It was amazing how HRC kept her composure and totally ignored him while at the same time giving complete responses to the questions asked(unlike someone else).

    • susanne says:

Her responses have been measured and reasonable. Unfortunately, going any further will bring about typical misogynistic comments. She has to be twice as good, twice as smart, twice as capable and experienced. She is.

  8. Merritt says:

He was stalking her. He tried extremely hard to intimidate and unnerve her. It showed how little he knows about Hillary Clinton.

    • lucy2 says:

Right? He’s been getting away with that kind of predatory intimidation his whole life, but HRC isn’t taking any of it.

      • Alarmjaguar says:

I was seriously in awe of her during the debate. No way I could have held it together with him behaving that way, let alone answer questions coherently and well.

      • NotSoSocialButterfly says:

I was waiting and wishing that she would turn around, pause, and laugh at him.

  9. Nancy says:

Everybody knows he was stalking her, he was invading her space. Of course it was his way of intimidation, but obviously it didn’t work. HRC isn’t easily intimidated, a person of lesser strength may have shown signs of irritation, but she didn’t. I think one of the moderators should have mentioned to him, he was in her space, but of course, he would have cried as he always does, that the debate was rigged, the moderators were bought by her…etc. He can never stand by his words or actions. Make him go away already…

    • Tris says:

She is unbelievably strong to withstand him. Just a few more weeks, Hilary! Then you can relax into running the country.
      #imwithher

      • Brittney B. says:

“Then you can relax into running the country.”

That WILL be more relaxing for her, won’t it?! That’s so crazy.

The job really seems to accelerate aging for all the charismatic men who came before her, but she’s said it herself: she’s most comfortable and confident behind closed doors, making hard decisions. This election has probably been more exhausting — physically, mentally, and down to her soul — than the presidency will be.

    • Brittney B. says:

Yeah, how she’s dealt with him has impressed me more than anything during this campaign. I voted for Bernie but I’ve come to realize… beyond her long long record of civil service, she is also an excellent role model for women and girls. I love that the first woman in the White House will earn her job by standing up to abusive men and holding her own. It’s so important to see.

      • Meredith says:

I also voted for Bernie but was always willing to vote for Hillary if it came down to it. I was surprised by how emotional I became watching the DNC and then reading stories about women in their 90’s who were born before women were allowed to vote and how excited they were to vote for the first, God willing, female president. I’ve always said that representation matters, I just never realized how much it mattered to me personally.

      • Brittney B. says:

Meredith, I agree 100%. I was always going to vote for Hillary if she won, but I definitely underestimated the personal significance of watching her accept the nomination, and then watching her bring down this bully over and over again. We have so much work left to do, but it’s amazing that we’re about to get our first female president, less than a century after fighting for the right to simply have a say in the process. It matters so much, just as Pres. Obama’s inauguration and eight years in the Oval Office have mattered so much.

      • Lorelai says:

It is ludicrous that she even needs to share a stage with him- he’s human garbage. I cannot wait for her to kick his ass in a few weeks.

      • susanne says:

Glad to hear this from you guys. I love the Bern, and would love to see a third party emerge as a strength, but it’s a process. I voted for Ross Perot back in the day!

      • hmmm says:

Well said. Standing up to abusive men and being a role model was a bonus I never expected. I am so proud.

  10. Mikeyangel says:

I do truly and honestly wish that every single person allowed to vote, who exercises that right had to watch a 1-2 hour long video that tells the truth about each candidate. And by truth I mean just a simple biography Wikipedia style about the main candidates. There is so much garbage out there about Hilary. I was undecided in my vote until recent and when I went and read about Hilary, read about the truth behind her defending the man who raped the 12 year old, everything was much more clear using actual facts! She is damn right about the fact thing too, because even though we supposedly have liberal media, I never heard the real truth about her until I did my own research. And whether I find the same things as her the most important from a voting perspective or not, she is an impressive lady, who has had to fight about 10 times harder than her male counterparts to get where she is, and I respect that. I respect that she does want to make a difference, so for that #imwithher!

    • AreYouKittenMe? says:

      ITA.
But fact-checking and research is the enemy of Trump-supporters.
      Willful, blind ignorance is preferred.

    • Emily says:

Trump supporters would just go on about BENGHAZI and EMAILS and MAINSTREAM MEDIA no matter who wrote and sourced such a report.

    • MileyAngel right on! I commend you for actually doing your own research and not get swept away by any other representation other than the facts. Thank you so much for sharing that with us because I think it’s really important for people to know that even though you hear XYZ unless you actually go in and look at the issues each candidate stands for and where you stand on all of those and then you get around to debunking everything that’s been written about Hillary as well as really take in all the truth so far written about Donald then make an educated decision

    • Tiffany :) says:

Doing your own research is so important.
I got into it with a die hard Bernie supporter that is one of my friends. He keeps posting about donations to the Clinton Foundation from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, etc. What I found really blew my mind. S.A. had given something like 10-15M to the foundation, but all together the “questionable” countries gave 50M to the foundation. Sounds like a lot, right? Then I found out that since 2001, these same countries had given $5 BILLION to humanitarian causes. For example, while Saudi Arabia had given $10M to the Clinton Foundation, they gave $62M to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS.

My overall point is that these countries regularly give money to charitable organizations. In comparison, what they gave the CF was very moderate.

      • Sarah says:

My thought on those foreign donors to the CF has always been, “so what?” The Foundation does really great work throughout the world with that money and if SA wants to give $10m to it, well that’s $10m SA can’t use to oppress women or fund terrorists or whatever else.

    • Elise says:

If you want to see something really enlightening (and scary as hell) Google “Dunning-Kruger Trump supporters”. You can show these folks facts all day and they will still say they know better, and anything that contradicts what they believe must be lies.

And that’s Trump in a nutshell. He doesn’t know anything about anything and he’ll be the first to tell you he knows everything about everything.

And he gaslights HIMSELF. I’ve read reports that he’s claiming that he stayed in his chair for the entire meeting and never followed her around the stage!

I have read that William Safire was the one who started the whole “Hillary is a liar” meme. I wonder what he’d say today.

  11. Melody says:

“Why didn’t she say something at the debate? I was one of the biggest stars at the debate and it would have been one of the biggest stories of the year, and by the way, the area was a public area, people all over the place. Take a look, you take a look. Look at her, look at her words, you tell me what you think. I don’t think so.”

    • AreYouKittenMe? says:

Is this an actual quote or parody?

Some of you guys have really sharpened your Trump impressions–it can be hard to tell.

      • Melody says:

It’s Trump’s actual comment about Natasha Stoynoff (a beautiful woman) that I adapted to respond to Clinton’s “Ellen” interview.

      • Melody says:

You know what Trump’s response to the Stoynoff article reminds me of?

Those guys who creep on you and then call you a fugly $lut or bit$& when you turn them down.

      • embertine says:

That’s because he is that guy. He is the presidential candidate being voted for by those guys. He is their king.

      • AreYouKittenMe? says:

“Those guys who creep on you and then call you a fugly $lut or bit$& when you turn them down.”

YES exactly. And as embertine said, he IS that guy. Ugh.

      • Nancy says:

Kitten I was wondering about the same thing up thread…….she was quoting him by saying look at her implying she wasn’t hot enough for him, but the rest of the post confused me. I’m surrounded by lawyers and educated people, as I am myself and I keep saying he can’t win, right? It baffles my mind, that anyone could find him qualified in any regard to be President. I read a tweet by a famous black man, who said “you know the brothers won’t vote for a woman to be President.” Now that is a blanket statement, but it scares me……that some men, black or white may be intimated by a women. That it is even a possibility with all we know about this man, that he COULD win the election terrifies me, literally.

  12. Lightpurple says:

And through all that she maintained her composure, spoke in complete sentences, made her points, and refrained from retaliating. Nerves of steel, which is the temperament a president needs.

    • original kay says:

      Exactly this.

She can withstand any barrage. I already respected her before the debate, but watching how she handled herself I was in complete awe.

    • AreYouKittenMe? says:

YES. This has been such a takeaway for me while watching the debates. This woman’s composure is a thing of beauty.

      • Brittney B. says:

Agreed. It’s been a great litmus test of how she’ll deal with the presidency… especially all the hot-headed foreign leaders who still deprive women of their rights.

    • Insomniac says:

That’s because a Republican blowhard talking trash about her is basically “A day ending in a ‘y'” for Hillary and has been so for the past 25+ years. This is one tough woman.

And honestly, I’d have thought someone on Trump’s team would have told him about her debate with Rick Lazio when she ran for the Senate. Lazio left his podium and got up in her space too, and it didn’t go over well then either.

      • susanne says:

Trump fires his team on the regular. There is no one he would listen to. I cannot imagine the sh!tshow his cabinet would be. Thank goodness we will not have to see it.

      • Sarah says:

Susanne, Kellyanne Conway has been MIA, I love to go over to twitter and ask her if she’s still managing the sex offender? These people who defend him? They are as bad as he is. His daughter , Ivanka, too. Because she’s attractive, people think she’s got a good heart. She’s a twisted one, just like her Daddy. I despise both of them.

    • LiterallyaShambles says:

      She’s a damn inspiration.
Much earlier in the election, I was a little caught up in the crap. I said, “I want a female president, but not HER as a female president.”
I’m eating my words. After doing my research and seeing the way she’s carried herself throughout debate season, I could not think of a better female president. She’s an inspiration for strong women everywhere.
On election night, she will be the reason that little girls go to bed knowing they can TRULY be anything they want to be.

    • Bess says:

Exactly. I know that I would have not be able to keep my cool in that situation.

I do wish that Hillary would continue to remind Trump and the American public that the George W. Bush & Dick Cheney were the ones who started the war in Iraq. Bush negotiated the status of forces agreement that determined the time US forces in Iraq would pull not, not Obama. Al of the instability in the Middle East can be traced back to the invasion of Iraq. Bush & Cheney are the gifts that just keep on giving.

      • susanne says:

This, exactly. And the point that the economy cannot be repaired so quickly after the Shrub. These things take time. We need a responsible, seasoned president that has positive working relationships with other world leaders.

  13. embertine says:

She really does come across fantastically in an informal interview with an interviewer who lets her speak and knows when to interject. Ellen is great at what she does and you can see they are very comfortable chatting.

    • Sarah says:

Yes, it’s because of stuff like this that I genuinely don’t understand why people insist they don’t like her. I think I would have an absolute blast chatting with her over a glass of wine,

      • Lightpurple says:

A few years ago, when she was still in the Senate my aunt brought me to a fundraising luncheon and we shared a table with Hillary and Barbara Mikulski and we all drank lots of wine and both women were fantastic and funny and awesome

    • doofus says:

you would have an absolute blast with her over a glass of wine.

I’ve mentioned this before but I have met her and have a family member that worked for her for years (and Condi before that, now he works for Kerry) and she is a very warm and funny person. so damn smart, too.

      • susanne says:

Jealous over here. More details, please!

      • nicole says:

I have always thought she seemed like she would be good fun, never could understand why people think she is cold etc, she has to be tough to a certain degree to be in the job she is in, but I think she is a very warm person who has a great laugh and smile.

  14. Anilehcim says:

He was absolutely stalking her and his body language suggested that he’s violent. He acted like he wanted to attack her. That’s the message I got from his body language. It was like he thought he was making another appearance on the WWF and trying to intimidate her.

Brace yourselves. Some audio footage from a 2013 interview Donald Trump Jr. gave on Opie and Anthony is making the rounds. In it, they talk about how “weird” it is that women want to golf, how women ruin everything with our complaining, and Trump Jr. takes the cake when he suggests that if women can’t handle sexual harassment in the workplace they don’t belong in the workplace and should go teach kindergarten… because, you know, kindergarten teachers don’t have real jobs or anything. The hosts go as far as to complain to Donald that they can’t look at pictures of naked women on their computers at work. At one point they talk about how awful it is that they can’t hang up pictures of naked women because women will complain. Trump Jr. quote “This is my get rich quick scheme–I’m suing you because I feel uncomfortable. This is what happens in the real world”

I guess the only consolation is that Trump is finished. He is not going to win. He and his children are done. All of their careers are over. I’m so tired of this shit. I can’t wait for November 8th.

    • AreYouKittenMe? says:

      *flips desk over*

I honestly don’t think I can take anymore. Might be time to start bringing the vape pen to work….

      • @KITTEN awww here kitty kitty! Hahaha simmer down Jersey (and I say that with pride for my home state!!!), no need for flipping desks! Maybe an extra stash of catnip is needed to be able to process without wanting to muzzle people. I happen to be a hugely productive pothead. (;

Yesterday’s day of soul love really helped that ragey feeling I’ve had since before the debate. Everything else is just so full of hate it’s hard to comprehend without anger!

      • doofus says:

you a jerz girl, too? ME TOO! JERZ REPRESENT!

        where’s lucy2? she’s JERZ too!

      • susanne says:

You do what you need to do to take care of yourself in these difficult times, sister.

      • I had a feeling Doofus. At the very least I figured east coast! Aww Lucy2!! I’ll have to Jerz her too.

When I get really mad my friends are like, woah, little darling is going Garden stste
        parkway on them!! Haha.

        Xoxox doofus

    • Adele Dazeem says:

Guys, I really HOPE he is over but I can’t say enough, don’t take ANYTHING for granted. There is a real lunatic fringe out there of angry white men that think women, minorities, etc are “taking over” and not worthy of positions of power. PLEASE DONT FORGET TO VOTE. I drive around for my job and trust me, there are a lot more Trump Pence signs out there than I expected.

      • bleu_moon says:

You’re so right. I live in NC and am shocked at how many Trump signs are up in my neighborhood. I’m very worried people will assume he can’t win and won’t vote.

      • SusanneToo says:

Angry white men and their Stepford wimmenfolk.

      • Trashaddict says:

Don’t worry SusanneToo, the Revenge of the Pussies will take them down. Just get out there and VOTE.

    • Lightpurple says:

I really want to see the Trump record before the EEOC. There are LAWS prohibiting such behavior in a workplace and if Trump Jr can’t handle it, he should leave.

    • Brittney B. says:

He yanked his ex-wife’s hair out of her head in clumps and then raped her, so yeah, I’m willing to bet he’s an abusive POS who would seriously hurt Hillary if he had the chance.

    • Triple Cardinal says:

“I guess the only consolation is that Trump is finished.” Oh, were it that easy.

I suspect Trump is heading in one of two directions–and possibly both at the same time. He’ll sell himself as a true political aspirant, as in, 2016 was only a warm-up. And/or he’ll capitalize on his infamy and try for a global-media-empire setup a la Murdoch. Rumors swirled in the initial days of the campaign that Trump was running only to increase his pull at NBC for more television exposure; that he didn’t expect to get anywhere in the primaries.

You’ve not heard the last of Trump. But hopefully somebody with big pockets will litigate all over him and halt any further progress.

And that goes for his weaselly kids, too.

      • Melly says:

I am confident that Trump isn’t going anywhere. Either he’s trying to start a new 3rd party (unlikely, but possible) or he’s trying to start a media empire with Steve Bannon & Roger Ailes a la Breitbart (my money is on this one)

    • nicole says:

I am starting the countdown, I hope the next three weeks fly by, and DT keeps imploding.

  15. foxy says:

Hillary had managed to cheat sanders using DNC.

    • Melody says:

That stuff bothered me at first – and I believe it happened. However, I also believe that anyone taking the Presidential oath of office will need to know how to maneuver and even unfairly leverage their advantages to get anything done in Washington.

So, will I watch closely and make sure she is fighting on my side? Absolutely.

Will I lose any sleep that Bernie will not have the chance to disappoint me by failing to deliver all those “free stuff” promises? No. Bernie is a good man, but he was never going to deliver what he wanted to.

      • AreYouKittenMe? says:

        Yes to your last paragraph.
Voted for him in the primary, but his platform was never feasible.

    • jwoolman says:

Good grief. Do you know how primaries work? Every state has their own system and schedule and ballot, since they allow the parties to piggyback on a ballot for other offices and/or referenda. Voting is not only done in person but also by absentee ballots. It would be a nightmare trying to control that in a primary. Hillary got significantly more votes than Bernie, end of story. She didn’t “cheat”. A remarkably few people wrote e-mails vaguely speculating about counteracting Bernie’s campaign and somebody lost her job over it, apparently because she didn’t shut down the speculation. No reason to believe Hillary had anything to do with it and it certainly hadn’t gone anywhere.

Bernie accomplished his original goal, which was to gain influence on the platform. Bernie would have been eaten alive in the general election for a variety of reasons, but I’m glad he will be still in the Senate where we really need him. Hillary has a much better chance of winning, and it is imperative that we keep Trump out of the White House and away from those nuclear codes. Bernie knows this also.

      • AreYouKittenMe? says:

        +1,000,000

      • eggy weggs says:

THANK YOU. And if Bernie shows up on your ballot, and apparently he will in Indiana, please still vote for Hillary. We cannot take anything for granted.

      • susanne says:

Thank you. I am a big supporter of the concept of a powerful third party. Now is just not the time.

      • TheOriginalMe says:

JWOOLMAN, totally agreed. We need Bernie in the senate. As much as I like him, his platform of ‘free stuff’ was not viable. Hillary is what we need in the White House. She’ll go down in history for more than ‘just’ being the first female president. She will make a fantastic president. I’ve loved her since ’93, when she first brought to fore the concept of universal healthcare in this country.

  16. Beebee says:

My husband and I noticed this creepy way that Trump stood behind her and the cameras jumped around looking to find a way to frame her without him in the shot…we just looked at each other and asked “is he going to hit her??”
    Gross.

    • BritAfrica says:

      I was confused.

Why isn’t he required to stand at his ‘post’ or near his post when the other candidate is speaking? Why was he allowed to walk around like that?

Here in the UK, you stay at your post when the other candidate is speaking and only move when it’s your turn. Did he break protocol?

  17. Jade says:

I am not American. The way Republicans and Orange have treated and abused (yes I call it abuse) Hillary, I’ve come to learn she is a very strong woman. I’m with you Hillary! I would also be very excited if she gets Michelle into her administration. Vote and vote Hillary!

  18. Lolo86lf says:

I watched the debate and DT was indeed acting weird. He seemed like he was going to pounce on Hillary at times. He was kind of acting out some of his followers’ fantasy: attack Hillary! She must have felt creeped out. DT is not used to losing anything. He is used to getting his way in business, women, and life in general. Losing the election to a female is gnawing at him. He cannot stand it his past behavior is coming back to bite him in the booty.

  19. bleu_moon says:

After the first debate (“Sniff Fest I”) I didn’t give much credence to the “Trump is on cocaine or adderall” theories. After the second debate with his weird pacing and aggressive behavior I did start to wonder.

  20. Moomoo says:

I’ll echo the thoughts above to not take anything for granted. I know a lot of Trump supporters. They will not be swayed by reality. The sad thing is we are going to be stuck with all of them even after this election. They were always here, but now we know who they are because Trump gave them permission to freely express their hatred and stupidity.

  21. Skins says:

Wouldn’t it be great if Trump tried to hit on her? Maybe go in for the kiss when they shake hands? I must be sick to want to see that

    • susanne says:

Yup, a little twisted, but she would take him down without a hint of violence. She has more than 20 words and uses them well.

    • lightpurple says:

Her knee would move up and slam hard so fast that nobody would see it and we would all be wondering why he was suddenly doubled over and writhing in pain. And she would smile.

  22. Lizzy says:

If she can’t handle Trump “stalking” her at the debate how are we to believe she can handle people like Putin? She comes off as whiney when she complains about this.

    • AreYouKittenMe? says:

Gotta give you credit: the gigantic leap of logic in your comment is impressive. You’d probably kill it at lateral jumps in my Tabata class.

    • Jade says:

She has handled it and why can’t she call him out on it? Why? Double standards much. So to speak out about being stalked is being whiney? She can handle Putin. So which one should women be?

Argument A: If he raped you or made you uncomfortable, why do these women keep quiet?

Argument B: Women should stop whining about being made uncomfortable or being stalked.

      • Lizzy says:

You’re equating debate behavior with rape? Wow.

Part of the debate is attempting to psych out your opponent.
Would you also say Trump wasn’t being whiney when he complained about being interrupted? I think that’s whiney, too. All I’m saying is you look weak if you complain about this stuff, not that she can’t think that Trump was stalking her.

    • Tiny Martian says:

Except that she did handle it. She handled it beautifully, by ignoring him and retaining her composure and focus, something that he is completely incapable of doing under the best of circumstances. The worse he behaves towards her, the more she proves herself to be highly qualified for the job of POTUS. The worse he behaves towards her, the more obvious it becomes that he is completely unqualified for the same role.

    • doofus says:

how did she not handle it?

no one knew, until her telling Ellen, that she was even aware of that hulking orange monster behind her. she did her thing and did it well, without any indication of feeling threatened. and I didn’t see that as a complaint as much as an observation and criticism of his behavior. she didn’t say “I couldn’t do ANYTHING because that guy was behind me!”.

unlike Drumpf, who complained that he had a bad mic, and that she invaded his space, and that the mods were against him…now THAT is whiny.

I suppose you’d prefer how Drumpf handles Putin?…taking loans from him and his oligarch friends, letting him influence the US election, using his disinformation talking points during speeches…yeah, much better.

    • Lightpurple says:

She is not whining. She handled Trump just fine. We can believe she can handle Putin because, as Secretary of State, she DID handle Putin.

    • jwoolman says:

She wasn’t complaining, just saying when asked that she was aware of his odd behavior that we all saw for ourselves. I have never seen anybody do what he did in a debate, but I’ve seen men do it in real life. It’s an intimidation/dominance maneuver. They get way too close, even coming up behind you just as he did, while you’re busy focusing on something else. Or they lumber around nearby making noises, I suppose so you don’t forget they are there.

    • Adele Dazeem says:

      Lizzy:
Until you’ve experienced stalking, sexual harassment, unwanted aggressive behavior, whatever name you want to put on it, you shouldnt judge. It is more than meets the eye, it’s psychological, it’s insidious and manipulative. We’ve been denying it, shoving it under the rug, trying to be the “cool girls” about it long enough. It’s time to name it, call it out and take our power BACK.

      • hmmm says:

I think “Lizzy” is a Trump troll and a guy. He talks like a guy- all this stuff about weakness. I bet the troll has a lot of guns to make up for certain inadequacies, including logic.

    • susanne says:

She handled herself appropriately by not engaging. I use this method with small children and irrational adults. It works. Remain calm and hold your ground. This is not whining.

  23. Kate Kack says:

I SOOO admire her! And I LOVE that she LOVES Michelle.
    Michelle Obama 2024!!!

    • anon says:

Gosh. I like both Hillary Clinton and Michell Obama. However, I am fedup of the Democratic party supporting Presidential wives to become the next President. That’s what happens in third world countries like Pakistan and India. Arent’ there other qualified women that can become Presidents because they have been in politics for a while? Like Nancy Pelosi or MEg Whitman or one of the Kennedys or KAmala Harris? This is a republic, not a tin pot dictatorship where we hand over leadership to family members.

  24. Mumzy says:

I am convinced that Clinton’s composure dealing with Trump at these debates is rooted in something Napoleon said: “Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake.”

Trump throws word grenades like a kid throwing exploding poppers at the ground while yelling, “Kapow! Kabam! Razzle Dazzle! Emails! Bill Clinton!” I ask my fellow viewers, “What is he trying to say and why can he not speak in coherent sentences? Why does he not answer any actual questions being asked? How can a person say so many words with no real substance?” All the while, Clinton slowly shakes her head with what seems to be a combination of bemusement and tightly restrained exasperation.

I think he was pacing during the last debate because he had many words ready to explode and Trump® does not live in a world where he must take turns or be accountable. Listening, thinking, thoughtfully answering questions, being patient and respectfully taking turns are things most people learn as children. The up side to the debates is that while Clinton and Trump share a stage, the side-by-side comparisons of behavorial fundamentals (indicators of what resides within) are easily made.

    • Original Kay says:

Great post. She just gave him the rope and let it do its work.

Now I have that Razzle Dazzle song from Chicago in my head though 😂

    • susanne says:

Right on. Let him do his nonsense. I am crossing my fingers for a total meltdown. I don’t think I’ll be disappointed.

  25. Jayna says:

Please read a great article by The Washington Post’s Editorial Board on why they are endorsing Hillary Clinton. It’s really great. It really goes in depth on her strengths and weaknesses, and Donald.

The title of their article is, “Hillary Clinton for President.” It came out yesterday, I think.

  26. sherry says:

This made two impressions on me.

    1. Hillary can not be intimidated and can stay focused on getting the job done.

    2. I thought of all of those women who have been assaulted by him and how they must have felt. Most of them were young and here’s this large, physically intimidating male groping and kissing them. His money and his power (and the powerful connections of his friends) combined with his physically towering frame does not make it hard to envision what these women were subjected to with him.

    • Original Kay says:

Yes. And here comes this woman who , to me, is pretty tiny in stature. Yet she stand taller than he. She’ll stand for all of us who don’t get to have a voice.

So much to admire with Hillary.

  27. Bess says:

I am hoping that Trump using some of his magic dodging powers and skips the final debate. At this point Hillary Clinton isn’t debating a real candidate. She stands there and answers the questions fully and explains her policies. Trump starts interrupting her. Points out everyone else’s mistakes and offers zero concrete solutions.

It’s almost a waste of time for her.

  28. Lorelai says:

Hillary must just find it unbelievable that after the career she’s had, THIS asshole is what she’s now up against.

    • hmmm says:

Yes, it’s like a genius faced with a drooling neanderthal. She certainly deserved better, but at least she got to show her mad skillz in crushing the abusive psycho.

  29. Mia Foster says:

There is a lot of big, bad, evil men out in the world running countries. If HRC is going to whine about Trump standing behind her in a debate perhaps she isn’t up for the job.

    • Melly says:

Yup, this one comment stating that Trump’s behavior at the debate was weird and menacing immediately negates her 30+ years of work. Mia, that is an incredibly insightful and intelligent comment rooted in facts.

    • toni says:

You should keep these type of misogynist comments at Trump ralleys

    • hmmm says:

Ah, a sockpuppet. Meet “Lizzy” in the mirror.

  30. susanne says:

I respectfully disagree with you. The moderators are in charge of managing that sort of thing. I don’t hear her whining, just stating facts as they are. If you watch the footage, it is very clear. Clinton is connected with the international community in a way that does not use physical intimidation. She has a rapport with world leaders and I strongly believe she is the best candidate for this job.

    • hmmm says:

I had NO idea that she was even aware that he was stalking her, she was that good. I am surprised and awed.

  31. Jana says:

I can’t wait to see Alec Baldwin destroy Trump on SNL this week….it will be epic.

  32. Lindy says:

She has been consistently strong and composed in dealing with the orange menace. I’ve been with her from the beginning (though politically am much further left even than Bernie) but watching her handle this and stand up to the misogyny and hate this guy spews has made me admire her more than ever.

  33. JK says:

I thought Hilary managed the space really well actually. While Trump prowled around like a caged predator, she moved to the front of the stage and directed her attention to the audience.

She walked to the left and the right at the front of the stage during the course of the debate and seemed to be really trying to address the audience while Trump seemed only to be focused on HER.

She also didn’t seem intimidated in any way which I thought was great. She is quite a small woman physically and it would be easy to feel physically threatened by a bigger, agressive male. But that was not at all apparent from her body language. She turned her back to him for a lot of the time, which I saw as pretty brave.

What I got from her body language was that she was focused on the task of talking to and convincing the undecided voters and all that aggression in the background was nothing more than a distraction which did not derail her.
