Yesterday, the breaking news was that Tobey Maguire & Jennifer Meyer’s nine-year marriage was over. They announced their split with a joint statement to People Magazine. The announcement caught many off-guard – while it’s no secret that Tobey has issues and those issues likely affected his marriage, many of us thought that Jennifer and Tobey were in it for the long haul. My guess is that she’s the one who got tired of putting up with his crap. And I don’t blame her! I hope she hires a great lawyer and takes everything. Now Page Six says that Tobey has basically been acting like a single guy for months, and he’s been spending a lot of time with the P-ssy Posse.
“Spider-Man” star Tobey Maguire and his Hollywood scion wife, Jennifer Meyer, revealed on Tuesday that they’re splitting after nine years of marriage. And sources tell Page Six that Maguire’s already been taking a page from the book of his longtime best friend, the 41-year-old club crawler, Leonardo DiCaprio.
Multiple sources told Page Six that the split between Maguire, 41 and Meyer, 39 — the daughter of CAA co-founder and NBCUniversal vice chairman Ron Meyer — was in the works for “many months.” And Maguire has been “seen with and without Leo” hitting LA’s clubs for months, a source said.
One Hollywood nightlife habitué told us that over the summer: “Tobey was out in LA at all these hot spots . . . It looked like he was following in [supermodel maven] Leo’s footsteps . . . Tobey hasn’t been known to date those types of girls in the past. But he has been all over LA lately. It looks like Leo’s rubbed off on him.”
In late July, Maguire was with DiCaprio and his current gal pal Nina Agdal on a private yacht in Ibiza, Spain. But a source familiar with the star said that while newly single Maguire’s been on the town, “it’s not a secret — Jen knows. Jen goes out, too. These two people are the best of friends, there is no third party involved and there is no animosity. He’s just going to clubs with Leo — that’s what’s happening.”
A different source said Maguire’s been going out “more often than usual” to DiCaprio fave 1Oak in LA. He was at supper club Delilah with actor Shane Powers on Friday, where “there were lots of hot girls,” according to a source, but, “Tobey seemed fine. He was just enjoying being out with guy friends.”
I can believe that Tobey is shady AND believe that there was probably no “other woman.” I think Page Six’s sources are probably close to the truth – Jennifer and Tobey were having issues this year in particular, he was spending more time with the Wolf Pack/P-ssy Posse and she was probably like “Jesus, GROW UP, YOU ARE A FATHER” and he was like “nah,” and that’s about it. It’s not a situation where there was one mistress, it was a situation where Tobey missed the P-ssy Posse days and if Leo doesn’t have to grow up, why should Tobey?

Hasn’t she basically been supporting HIM for years with her rich daddy? And according to blinds she was getting increasingly sick of his unemployed ass.
Yea. I doubt there will be much for her to take since he hasn’t been in anything since 2014 and is still best known for roles he did over 10 years ago. Her jewelry line seems relatively successful so she will probably just be focused on protecting that. Obviously her family is super wealthy but that shouldn’t be community property/sure they had some sort of prenup.
He made a crap ton of money for the Spiderman movies (and if I remember correctly, didn’t the main players get paid for a Spiderman 4 that didn’t happen?). And one wonders how much he’s made or spent on the illicit poker. He could either have plenty of money of his own or none at all.
Yeah, her dad is a founding partner of CAA. I should think she’s very rich as an heiress it will be Tobey trying to get some of that family money.
That was my first though when reading that. Her dad could buy and sell him many times over.

Ummmm, Leo is not married with two kids at home. Leo is wealthy, single and dates. He is not anything more that that. Toby was married with two kids under the age of ten. Single lifestyle is not an option when you are NOT SINGLE.

Also, I wonder if this is a case of waking up one day and realizing he wasn’t really ready to start a family when he did. I’ve had several friends go through divorces recently because their husbands realized they really didn’t want to be married w/kids by forty. I don’t think that makes a person necessarily bad; society tells all of us that getting married and having kids is the ultimately adult seal of approval, and a lot of people start families before they’re ready because they think it’s “time.”
ETA: I do think Tobey’s a dick, though.
It’s definitely up to the individual to do the bare minimum of self analysis to realise they may not want the cookie cutter life they’re being sold. Society doesn’t put the ring on the finger or the baby in the crib, you (general you) do that. Or by the same token their partner should have a good long look at them and think ‘is this a person who can do the long haul in this family? Or do I just want it so much I’m willing to overlook all the red flags?’
In Tobey’s case he was a pretty obvious douchebag from the get go, I don’t know why his wife expected otherwise.

My impression of him is he’s a huge douche . I remember the story about how he’s a bad loser at his poker games. He comes across like someone I’d avoid.
This could be more an issue regarding his gambling problems than him cheating on her.
I have read about his poker rantings. He seems to be very emotionally abusive.
I think she’s so beautiful and fresh looking. She doesn’t have that LA cat face or plastic look.
She’s also worked more than him for years. Her jewelry line is no Hollywood wife dilettante thing–though her celeb friends like Jennifer Aniston give her a lot of business. She’s had a relationship with Barney’s for over 10 years now and won some awards for design. I hope she’s the one who kicked him to the curb and is going to go on being a successful businesswoman, mom and get out there and have fun. And I agree, I’ve always thought she was pretty–and didn’t go the ‘fix my nose’, get lots of botox route.
Of course they’re “friends” – he could potentially be burning a huge bridge with this divorce. Tobey isn’t exactly a charmer on his own, either.
I don’t understand why she would be okay with this and that they are the best of friends? WTF?! He’s the father of her two young children and she’s pretty much having to raise them by herself because he still wants to go out the guys and act like he doesn’t have responsibilities. Where is her pride? Standards anyone?
I can’t dislike Tobey Maguire too much because what little work he does, he’s pretty stellar in. I think rewatched The Spoils of Babylon at least five times, he’s hysterical.
I always thought it would be easy, or at least easier than for us normal people, for rich women in places like Hollywood or NYC to meet handsome, rich, and successful men. Then I see a lot of the men that young celebrity women or socialites marry, and I’m not all that impressed. I guess most of these guys are wealthy too, but a lot of the time the women are the ones who are more beautiful, successful, and put together. Makes you think that it’s hard for women of all backgrounds to find decent men these days. Makes me want to hold onto my current boyfriend for as long as possible. He’s kind, doesn’t like to party or go clubbing, and makes six figures. Guess finding someone like that is like finding a needle in a haystack.
Not bragging at all. I’ve been single most of my adult life and I’m practical about most of our chances of meeting a great guy in the age of online dating and hookups. It’s hard, very hard. I don’t think there is someone out there for everyone, and I’m willing to bet a lot of Millineals will end up old, alone, and childless with tons of student debt. It’s not a pretty picture. I don’t know how things will end up with the guy I’m seeing now, but it makes me realize not to take a good guy with a decent job for granted because they are few and far between.
She looks like Jennifer Grey….I wonder if he was a big fan of Ferris Beuller’s Day Off growing up.🤔
